History Of Valentines Day

History Of Valentines Day
"

"

"

Every year, the fourteenth day of the month of February has millions across the world presenting their loved ones with candy, flowers, chocolates and other lovely gifts. In many countries, restaurants and eateries are seen to be filled with couples who are eager to celebrate their relationship and the joy of their togetherness through delicious cuisines. There hardly seems to be a young man or woman who is not keen to make the most of the day

The reason behind all of this is a kindly cleric named Valentine who died more than a thousand years ago.

It is not exactly known why the 14th of February is known as Valentine's Day or if the noble Valentine really had any relation to this day. The history of Valentine's Day is impossible to be obtained from any archive and the veil of centuries gone by has made the origin behind this day more difficult to trace. It is only some legends that are our source for the history of Valentine's Day.

The modern St. Valentine's Day celebrations are said to have been derived from both ancient Christian and Roman tradition. As per one legend, the holiday has originated from the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalis/Lupercalia, a fertility celebration that used to observed annually on February 15.

"

But the rise of Christianity in Europe saw many pagan holidays being renamed for and dedicated to the early Christian martyrs. Lupercalia was no exception. In 496 AD, Pope Gelasius turned Lupercalia into a Christian feast day and set its observance a day earlier, on February 14. He proclaimed February 14 to be the feast day in honor of Saint Valentine, a Roman martyr who lived in the 3rd century. It is this St. Valentine whom the modern Valentine's Day honors.

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, there were at least three early Christian saints by the name of Valentine. While one was a priest in Rome, another was a bishop in Terni. Nothing is known about the third St. Valentine except that he met his end in Africa. Surprisingly, all three of them were said to have been martyred on 14th February.

It is clear that Pope Gelasius intended to honor the first of these three aforementioned men. Most scholars believe that this St. Valentine was a priest who lived around 270 AD in Rome and attracted the disfavor of Roman emperor Claudius II who ruled during this time.

The story of St. Valentine has two different versions - the Protestant and the Catholic one. Both versions agree upon Saint Valentine being a bishop who held secret marriage ceremonies of soldiers in opposition to Claudius II who had prohibited marriage for young men and was executed by the latter.

"

"DURING THE LIFETIME OF VALENTINE, THE GOLDEN ERA OF ROMAN EMPIRE HAD ALMOST COME TO AN END. LACK OF QUALITY ADMINISTRATORS LED TO FREQUENT CIVIL STRIFE. EDUCATION DECLINED, TAXATION INCREASED AND TRADE WITNESSED A VERY BAD TIME. THE ROMAN EMPIRE FACED CRISIS FROM ALL SIDES, FROM THE GAULS, SLAVS, HUNS, TURKS AND MONGOLIANS FROM NORTHERN EUROPE AND ASIA. "

"

The empire had grown too large to be shielded from external aggression and internal chaos with existing forces. Naturally, more and more capable men were required to to be recruited as soldiers and officers to protect the nation from takeover. When Claudius became the emperor, he felt that married men were more emotionally attached to their families, and thus, will not make good soldiers. He believed that marriage made the men weak. So he issued an edict forbidding marriage to assure quality soldiers.

The ban on marriage was a great shock for the Romans. But they dared not voice their protest against the mighty emperor. The kindly bishop Valentine also realized the injustice of the decree. He saw the trauma of young lovers who gave up all hopes of being united in marriage.

"

He planned to counter the monarch's orders in secrecy. Whenever lovers thought of marrying, they went to Valentine who met them afterwards in a secret place, and joined them in the sacrament of matrimony. And thus he secretly performed many marriages for young lovers. But such things cannot remain hidden for long. It was only a matter of time before Claudius came to know of this "friend of lovers," and had him arrested.

While awaiting his sentence in prison, Valentine was approached by his jailor, Asterius. It was said that Valentine had some saintly abilities and one of them granted him the power to heal people.

"

Asterius had a blind daughter and knowing of the miraculous powers of Valentine he requested the latter to restore the sight of his blind daughter. The Catholic legend has it that Valentine did this through the vehicle of his strong faith, a phenomenon refuted by the Protestant version which agrees otherwise with the Catholic one. Whatever the fact, it appears that Valentine in some way did succeed to help Asterius' blind daughter.

When Claudius II met Valentine, he was said to have been impressed by the dignity and conviction of the latter. However, Valentine refused to agree with the emperor regarding the ban on marriage.

"

It is also said that the emperor tried to convert Valentine to the Roman gods but was unsuccesful in his efforts. Valentine refused to recognize Roman Gods and even attempted to convert the emperor, knowing the consequences fully. This angered Claudius II who gave the order of execution of Valentine.

Meanwhile, a deep friendship had been formed between Valentine and Asterius' daughter. It caused great grief to the young girl to hear of his friend's imminent death. It is said that just before his execution, Valentine asked for a pen and paper from his jailor, and signed a farewell message to her "From Your Valentine," a phrase that lived ever after.

"

As per another legend, Valentine fell in love with the daughter of his jailer during his imprisonment. However, this legend is not given much importance by historians. The most plausible story surrounding St. Valentine is one not centered on Eros (passionate love) but on agape (Christian love): he was martyred for refusing to renounce his religion. Valentine is believed to have been executed on February 14, 270 AD.

Thus 14th February became a day for all lovers and Valentine became its Patron Saint. It began to be annually observed by young Romans who offered handwritten greetings of affection, known as Valentines, on this day to the women they admired. With the coming of Christianity, the day came to be known as St. Valentine's Day.

But it was only during the 14th century that St. Valentine's Day became definitively associated with love. UCLA medieval scholar Henry Ansgar Kelly, author of "Chaucer and the Cult of Saint Valentine", credits Chaucer as the one who first linked St. Valentine's Day with romance.

"

In medieval France and England it was believed that birds mated on February 14. Hence, Chaucer used the image of birds as the symbol of lovers in poems dedicated to the day. In Chaucer's "The Parliament of Fowls," the royal engagement, the mating season of birds, and St. Valentine's Day are
"HAND-MADE VALENTINE CARDS MADE OF LACE, RIBBONS, AND FEATURING CUPIDS AND HEARTS BEGAN TO BE CREATED ON THIS DAY AND HANDED OVER TO THE MAN OR WOMAN ONE LOVED. THIS TRADITION EVENTUALLY SPREAD TO THE AMERICAN COLONIES. "

"

"IT WAS NOT UNTIL THE 1840S THAT VALENTINE'S DAY GREETING CARDS BEGAN TO BE COMMERCIALLY PRODUCED IN THE U.S. THE FIRST AMERICAN VALENTINE'S DAY GREETING CARDS WERE CREATED BY ESTHER A. HOWLANDA MOUNT HOLYOKE, A GRADUATE AND NATIVE OF WORCESTER. MASS. HOWLAND, KNOWN AS THE MOTHER OF THE VALENTINE, MADE ELABORATE CREATIONS WITH REAL LACE, RIBBONS AND COLORFUL PICTURES KNOWN AS "SCRAP"."

"

It was when Howland began Valentine's cards in a large scale that the tradition really caught on in the United States.

Today, Valentine's Day is one of the major holidays in the U.S. and has become a booming commercial success. According to the Greeting Card Association, 25% of all cards sent each year are "valentine"s. The "valentines", as Valentine's Day cards are better known as, are often designed with hearts to symbolize love.

"

The Valentine's Day card spread with Christianity, and is now celebrated all over the world. One of the earliest valentines was sent in 1415 AD by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife during his imprisonment in the Tower of London. The card is now preserved in the British Museum.

There may be doubts regarding the actual identity of Valentine, but we know that he really existed because archaeologists have recently unearthed a Roman catacomb and an ancient church dedicated to a Saint Valentine.

Burning The Quran

Burning The Quran
Reverend Terry Jones, pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida is planning to burn the Quran (also spelled Koran) in order to honor those people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. According to Jones, he is also using this occasion to proclaim that Islam is an evil religion.

Jones' lawyer has advised him that his First Amendment right allows him to express his belief about Islam and to proclaim his belief by burning the holy book of Islam. Although Jones has the constitutional right to burn the Quran to express his view about Islam, I believe that his action is wrong and expresses a negative view of Christianity.

General David Petraeus, the general commander of the American forces in Afghanistan, has expressed his concern about what could happen to Americans in Afghanistan and in the Muslim world if Jones carries out his threat. Petraeus has warned that Jones' plan to burn the Quran could provoke violence against American troops in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other countries.

The events of September 11, 2001 will remain in the minds and hearts of Americans for many years. The pain, the suffering, and the loss of those people whose friends and family members lost their lives in those barbaric events in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania is still fresh in their minds. But what Jones plans to do this Saturday will not bring back those who lost their lives, will not honor their death, and will not bring honor to Christianity.

There are two accounts of book burning in the Bible. The first case was the burning of Jeremiah's scroll by Jehoiakim, king of Judah. In the case of Jehoiakim, he burned Jeremiah's book because he was unhappy with Jeremiah's message:

"Then the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll, and he took it from the chamber of Elishama the secretary; and Jehudi read it to the king and all the officials who stood beside the king. As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a penknife and throw them into the fire in the brazier, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier"

(Jeremiah 36:21, 23).

By his action, Jehoiakim showed that he did not believe the words of Jeremiah. He also did not believe that the words of judgment Jeremiah had preached were true. It is also possible that by burning the book, Jehoiakim believed that God's word in the mouth of the prophet would not come to pass. Jehoiakim burned the book but he could not burn God's word. God told Jeremiah to write another book as a sign that he, God, would bring the disasters he had pronounced against Judah.

The second example of book burning in the Bible was in Ephesus. In Ephesus, God performed extraordinary miracles through Paul's ministry there. As a result, the fear of God fell upon many people and scores believed in Christ. As the writer of the book of Acts reported: "Many who became believers confessed their sinful practices. A number of them who had been practicing sorcery brought their incantation As Jones' lawyer said, the First Amendment gives him the right to express his belief about Islam by burning the Quran. However, in this case Jones should not listen to his lawyer, but to the Apostle Paul. Paul wrote to the Corinthians:

"We are free to do all things, but there are things which it is not wise to do. We are free to do all things, but not all things are for the common good" (1 Corinthians 10:23).

Paul also wrote:

"Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no cause of trouble to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31-32).

If Jones loves the Lord and loves the church of God, he should listen to Paul's words. He should also refrain from carrying out his plan to burn the Quran.

Stranger To Controversy

No Stranger To Controversy
Back in the day, Dungeons and Dragons was no stranger to controversy. Besides attracting criticism for it's portrayal of gods, demons and devils, and attendant accusations of encouraging devil worship, there was ongoing concern about the depiction of naked bodies, predominantly those of women.

Those expressions of concern finally precipitated editorial changes at Dragon Magazine, in reaction to angry letters over what was perhaps the best cover of Dragon Magazine ever, that of Issue 114, published in October 1986.

The contents of Issue 114 were in themselves controversial, as Dragon Magazine once again published a revised Witch class.

However, it was David Martin's depiction of a naked Witch on the front cover of Dragon that resulted in a new artwork policy. That new policy was announced in Issue 117, following several months of argument and counter-argument between those who supported the depiction of nakedness in Dungeons and Dragons art and those who opposed it.

The early versions of Dungeons and Dragons were billed as a game for adults. As the game grew in popularity, it garnered more teenage and pre-teen players. It is little surprise, then, that there was heightened sensitivity amongst the staffers of TSR and Dragon Magazine to the issues of nakedness.

The Dragon Editorial staff concluded that the above depiction of a naked Witch crossed the line.

While it is easy for us to disagree with their assessment, we were not in the pressure cooker with the 1980's morality police, they were.

Dr Evelyn Fuqua Interview

Dr Evelyn Fuqua Interview On Her New Book Cosmic Relationships
"Dr. Fuqua presents an insightful and compelling look at how past lives may influence our relationships, our spiritual growth, and the evolution of the soul. A fascinating read!" -Linda Pendleton, Author "To Dance With Angels; Three Principles of Angelic Wisdom"

"Dr. Fuqua is to be commended for her scientific tenacity as an 'explorer' as well as her spiritual veracity as an 'explainer'. She demonstrates courage, curiosity, compassion and competence in her professional service and in her personal relationships." -Leo Sprinkle Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, University of Wyoming, Author of "Soul Samples" and numerous articles on ET research

I'm pleased to be doing this interview with my good friend, Dr. Evelyn Fuqua, Ph.D. Dr. Fuqua was a teacher and counselor in the public schools for thirty-three years and on the Board of Directors for the Association of Past Life Regression Therapy for six years. Dr. Fuqua, was in private practice in Rocklin, California, and is an international authority on Past Life Regression Therapy and Walk-In Phenomena. She has been a presenter at numerous professional conferences and a guest on many national radio Talk Shows, including the popular Coast to Coast AM Radio Show. She is the author of From Sirius to Earth: A Therapist Discovers a Soul Exchange,

She just released her second book, "Cosmic Relationships: Exploring the Soul's Journey from Off-Earth, Earth Lives, and Reincarnation," a uniquely personal approach to understanding human relationships. Dr. Fuqua explores the past lives of herself and her four husbands. In this fascinating study, she seeks to give credence to her belief that there is no conflict between evolution and creationism.

I met Evelyn nine years ago while doing research on past lives via the Internet and discovering we lived in the same area at the time, we quickly became good friends.

LINDA: Evelyn, I'm pleased to be doing this interview with you so my readers can learn about you, and your fascinating work. Tell us who or what has influenced your interest and studies in past lives and how your professional work led you into past life regression.?

EVELYN: Back in 1981 when I was receiving the training necessary to conduct hypnosis as a Marriage, Family Therapist, I had a client who was deeply depressed, even suicidal at times. There was nothing in this lifetime that seemed to explain her problems so I asked her if she was willing to try going back into a past life. Since she was desperate, she agreed. I had become interested in past lives when I became a Rosicrucian and met a group of Rosicrucian ladies who were firm believers in reincarnation. While I thought this was an interesting concept, I was still a skeptic when I regressed this particular client.

My client repeatedly went back into a lifetime in a small town in Kansas where she was killed in an automobile accident in the early 1950's. Both she and her boyfriend were quite inebriated when the accident occurred. Her family was deeply religious and they were very disappointed in their "fallen" daughter. She apparently reincarnated rather quickly and came into this lifetime with a great deal of guilt. She was one of these very rare clients who remembered nothing of the hypnosis sessions even though there was much crying during the sessions. After dispelling these deep seated emotions, she was able to go back to her husband, had three children and was seemingly able to live a normal life.

It was this session, plus meeting many professional people who did past life therapy, that finally convinced me that past lives are valid and a very effective form of therapy.

LINDA: Before we go on to tell us more about your new book, please tell us a little about your first book, and what led you to write it?

EVELYN: Rose/Athor came to me as a client in 1988 with the goal of helping her overcome her environmental illness (aka chemical sensitivity) through the use of hypnosis. She had seen my ad and photograph in a metaphysical magazine and was convinced that I was THE THERAPIST she needed to see. I had never dealt with such a case before but she had a fascinating background and I finally agreed to see her for no fee as a research case. This led to almost three years of therapy in which through bits and pieces we were able to finally make sense out of her saga of being an aspect of one of the Beings of Light on the Council of Twelve on the etheric plane of the star system Sirius. Athor is listed as a co-author since she wrote her autobiography as part of the story.

This was such a fascinating story that I felt as if I was being guided by the Council of Sirius to write this book in order to give professional validity to Walk-Ins, Soul Exchanges, etc.

LINDA: What book or
LINDA: I'm always amazed how "There is a River" by Thomas Sugrue has influenced so many of us. I have never been regressed, but years ago I had thought about it after taking a six-week class at Astara with Dr. Hazel M. Denning (a friend of yours) I guess life got in the way, and I never scheduled it. At the time, she was teaching parapsychology classes at the University of California-Riverside. Then later, Dr. Brian Weiss came long with his EVELYN: It took a great deal of nerve to go from traditional therapy to past life regression therapy, and finally to working with extraterrestrials. The people who were/are traditional therapists are usually afraid to do anything that is questioned by the Board of Behavioral Sciences (professional governing board in California). I fortunately had retired from many years in the public schools as a teacher, then a counselor; therefore, I was not totally dependent on an income from my private practice. Indeed I received several letters from the Board of Behavioral Sciences cautioning me about the work I was doing. I responded each time apparently with enough legitimate information that I would not hear from them again, until perhaps a year or so later. I finally became disgusted with their harassment and continued to practice as a hypnotherapist after dropping my MFT license. I'm an Aquarian and knew that they were just way behind the times in their limited thinking!

LINDA: Does past life regression often, more than not, lead to healing of trauma or conflict a person has in current life?

EVELYN: Not always, but quite often. The main benefit actually was to deepen one's spiritual life since this is a very spiritual process.

LINDA: As I always ask writers that I interview-What is your favorite quote?

EVELYN: I have finally gotten around to reading "Conversations with God" by Neal Donald Walsch. Although I do not think he is talking to "God", I agree with many of the concepts, and in fact might have used the following in Cosmic Relationships had I read it earlier:

"Your mind is right now filled with old thoughts. Not only old thoughts, but mostly someone else's old thoughts. It's important now, it's time now, to change your mind about some things. This is what evolution is all about."

Indeed if you can open your mind to some of the concepts in "Cosmic Relationships", you will have taken a giant leap forward in your own evolution!

LINDA: What other words would you like to leave us with, Evelyn? Thoughts to ponder? Thoughts on our future?

EVELYN: I am looking forward to 2012. Many of us seem to feel a new energy on the planet. There will no doubt be more chaos, but I have very hopeful that we are turning increasingly "toward the Light".

LINDA: "Cosmic Relationships" is now in print and will be available at Amazon Kindle soon. I wish you the best with the book, Evelyn. I'm sure others will find your book as fascinating as I have.

EVELYN: I ask for the assistance of your readers. This is from Athor, December 2010:

"We are at a time of great changes on Planet Earth. We need to ASK for assistance from the Beings of Light (This includes highly advanced ET's - on Councils, etc., plus Ascended Masters such as Mother Mary, Hilarian, Jesus, Sananda, Buddha, etc. and Angels). They will not interfere unless asked to help, just as you should ask for help from your guides and guardian angel. Please use the following visualization with a partner or group.

"Visualize a ring of fire or white Light with rainbow colors swirling around us (or a group). Place the Planet Earth in the center of the circle. We ask for all the beings of Light who wish to assist in bringing peace, harmony, good will, unity and balance to this planet to do so. We invoke the highest levels of light to protect Earth and all of its inhabitants."

As Athor states, if people all over the world did this on a daily basis, it would make a huge difference on Planet Earth. We can't solve all these Earthly problems alone. We NEED the assistance of the more evolved beings.

I thank my dear friend, Linda, for allowing me to share my thoughts with you.

LINDA: Thank you, Evelyn. Visit Evelyn Fuqua's Website "Cosmic Relationships" Cover design by Judy Bullard.

Get Your Binoculars Ready Equinox Sky Show Tonight

Get Your Binoculars Ready Equinox Sky Show Tonight
MARCH 19, 2010: When the sun sets on Saturday, March 20th, a special kind of night will fall across the Earth. It's an equal night.

Or as an astronomer would say, "it's an equinox." It's the date when the sun crosses the celestial equator heading north. Spring begins in one hemisphere, autumn in the other. The day and night are of approximately equal length.

To celebrate the occasion, Nature is providing a sky show.

It begins as soon as the sky grows dark. The Moon materializes first, a fat crescent hanging about a third of the way up the western sky. Wait until the twilight blue fades completely black and you will see that the Moon is not alone. The Pleiades are there as well.

The Moon and the Pleiades are having a close encounter of rare beauty. There's so little space between the two, the edge of the Moon will actually cover some of cluster's lesser stars. According to David Dunham of the International Occultation Timing Association, this is the best Moon-Pleiades meeting over the United States until the year 2023.

RIGHT: A similar Moon-Pleiades conjunction photographed by Marek Nikodem of Szubin, Poland, in July 2009.

The Pleiades are a cluster of young stars some 440 light years from Earth. They formed from a collapsing cloud of interstellar gas about 100 million years ago. By the standards of astronomy, that's "really" young. The Earth under your feet is almost 50 times older. Dinosaurs were roaming our planet long before the Pleiades popped into being.

Only about seven of the Pleiades are visible to the unaided eye. The "Seven Sisters" are Sterope, Merope, Electra, Maia, Taygete, Celaeno and Alcyone, named after daughters of the mythological Greek god Atlas. Together, they form the shape of a little dipper, which is why the Pleiades are often mistaken for the Little Dipper, an asterism of Ursa Minor.

Binoculars are highly recommended for this event.

First, scan the Moon. You'll see craters, mountains and lava seas. Note that you can see the entire Moon, not just the brightly-lit crescent. The Moon's dark terrain is illumined by a ghostly glow called "Earthshine." It is the light of our own blue planet shining down on the Moon.

Next, scan the sky around the Moon. The Pleiades come into sharp focus-and they are more than seven. Dozens of faint "sisters" can be seen through even modest optics.

This night doesn't sound equal. It sounds much better than that.

Experience the equinox!

Signs Of The New Earth And Angelic Human

2012 Ascension Acceleration Signs Of The New Earth And Angelic Human
You are leaving 3rd dimensional reality and existence which limited your divine expression and holy sovereignty, to be in complete sacred union with the Universe. Master Light Bearers of Creation, Blue Rays, you are in the process of bringing into complete alignment all your ascended selves from the many places of enlightened dimensions, realms and planetary systems to create wholeness and divine power in your life and world. The time of miracles is upon you!

The codes of light within you are being accelerated by a cosmic alignment activating the ancient sacred technologies, placing you in an energetic space for your evolutionary spiritual Initiation of 2012 and 2013. You are being supported by a profound Universal planetary alignment that no one currently alive on earth has ever experienced before.13

The pathway is through the Sacred Heart and Shekinah frequency of the Divine Mother, resonating through the Crystalline Earth Christ Grid. You, in Cosmic unison of the Light of Creation, have already created this Christ Heart Gird with Gaia for the new earth and Angelic Human. 11:11 12:12 = 13- 33 333

LEAVING THE OLD WORLD ~ THE END OF 3D

Not all beings will be choosing to be in the higher frequency dimension bringing forth the new earth. What is important to know is that each being has a right and will be honored for what they choose. Your ascension process of purging and clearing the energetic bodies has activated a higher embodiment of your core essence of your Divine Original Blue Print God DNA. You are now resonating at a higher vibrational frequency that may not be compatible with your current occupation, partners, family, friends, groups, location and institutions. 444

You will be leaving the old world, and sometimes it will not always be subtle as you may be instantly cut off from circumstances you once were a part of. Family and friends can become angry and, mostly, it is that they feel threatened by the higher energy that they cannot articulate. A surge of divinity coming from your sovereign self will emerge that will support you, where your body and being will not be able to tolerate lower energies and negative behavior or treatment.

Your Body Cannot Tolerate Lower Energies And Negative Behavior 55

Your body may protest, where before you were able to act like everything was okay, now it will be screaming "no more" and you will speak and react from a higher truth and not be part of situations that take away your power. You are seeing this occurring more in your world and in your close relationships.

A special note for The Blue Ray and ultra sensitive empathic Light Bearers: your tendency had been to shut down energetically when you felt threatened or overwhelmed by energy. This can have a direct effect on your immune system and may appear as a drop in your energy, fatigue, anxiety or brain fog. This tendency is changing, as you are now experiencing the realignment to the cosmos and your sacred lineage and higher immunity. Where you were once without a voice quietly in your inner worlds doing the holy work of creation, you are now stepping into a sacred sovereign power. Your light is becoming brighter, stronger and more noticeable, your God alignment frequency resonance more in tune with the cosmic support of Creation.

Misconceptions Of Ascension And 2012 ~ "Did I Make A Wrong Turn?"

On your ascension path there may be times that you wonder if you did something wrong, and how you arrived at certain places of your journey. You may have had perceptions and thoughts that your life would look physically perfect. From the white picket fence of your home and your completely stable and secure life, you would look out from your curtains as all the upheaval settled and never touched you as you only had felt love and light.

If you have dedicated your life to the light, are a Blue Ray, a transformer through the Goddess Gaia, most likely ascension will bring you to the depths of the dark night of your soul. This may also occur a couple of times, as you reach a deep soul core purging that touches most all aspects of your being. From the true essence of your soul, a profound transformation of your reality brings an awakening of holiness and compassion for all life, and clarity like never before. You are on a path of divine love and light that transforms negativity from the cells of your body. This innate mission of purpose within you has been guiding your emergence as an angelic human for the unveiling of the new earth. 333.

The old world perceptions of staying in one place and accumulating material possession were thought to be the ultimate wealth and stability. As you may have material possessions and comforts on your path of ascension, this will not be wealth or stability, as you are seeing this occur in your world. In the new earth, you will anchor your sovereign self, a sacred communion with creation of divine love, light, power and glory. This will surpass any perceptions you have had, where you can rise above and see beyond any chaos or confusion; the Universe will be at your command.

2012 Ascension Acceleration Signs Of The New Humanity

LIFE REVIEW IN THE LIVING

Life review in the living comes when you have reached a significant level of consciousness to experience a higher infusion of your core soul essence. This is the activation of your star essence, your ascended selves, God DNA in human form. It's as if you are living many lives in the current one you now reside and do not need to die and be reborn, as you are doing it continuously and at accelerated speeds that are beyond time and space.

Your life review comes to show you that perhaps you have been accelerating at such great speeds that you may not have noticed your grand progress and who you are now. Past events and memories are brought to you but no longer trigger you - the trauma fields have been healed. It is to show you are ascending and evolving to a higher divine state of being.

Walk-ins And Re-Star Born

On your ascension you can experience such immense
At times of planetary alignments, new and full moons, the Solstices and Equinoxes, you may feel you are in a dream state for a day or two. You may also feel sluggish, have difficulty in moving, as if through density, and you can't wake up. These are transitional periods of being put in sort of a void dimensional time-space, still living your life and very much having a powerful connection with Source. Go with the energetic flow and rhythms the best you can, slow down and enjoy being in an awakened dream.

The Ascended Life Of Divine Love

You will come to know that what you wish for more than anything is the clarity of your soul, your true full expression that is Divine Love, and all has been a ploy from your higher heart to get you there, to the ultimate divine power and glory of the Universe. All of God and life have been serving you to bring what you truly wished for. From this place that many are already experiencing, you will enjoy a higher experience of life and spirit. Wherever you go and wherever you are, a divine harmony of Peace will meet and greet you and say this is who you are. This peace we speak of is the truth of your soul and spirit; it is beyond peace; it is the Divine love of joy that holds all of life, the Universe and Cosmos together and this is who you are! 333

"THE BLUE RAY BEINGS ARE AN ULTRA-SENSITIVE, EMPATHIC SOUL GROUP LIKE THE INDIGOS THAT CAME FROM MANY DIFFERENT ASCENDED PLANETS AND LIGHT REALMS TO ENLIGHTEN THE GENETIC CODE OF HUMANITY AND RAISE THE GOD CONSCIOUSNESS ON GAIA. THEY ARE THE LOST RAY OF THE LIGHT WORKER."SHEKINAH"," a Hebrew word in the "Language of Light", is a mentor of the Blue Ray. Shekinah is the lost aspect of the sacred Divine Feminine of Creation that is the embodiment of God, the ascension process. "BLUE RAY" IS THE SOUL GROUP CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE HIGHEST ASPECT OF ALL BLUE RAYS. TOGETHER WE GIVE YOU THESE TRANSMISSIONS."

Astronaut Theology Jack Kirby Astro Gnostic

Astronaut Theology Jack Kirby Astro Gnostic
Hey Kids- A Tech-Gnostic Alien Eden!

Apparently, two 70s titles about ancient astronaut theory were not enough for Jack Kirby. Aside from 2001:A Space Odyssey and The Eternals, Kirby managed to work some alien-based Biblical revisionism into a title that would seem to be completely inhospitable to it. In this case, Devil Dinosaur - Kirby's wildly anachronistic yarn of giant reptiles and proto-humans created for a possible Saturday morning cartoon - became the focus of Kirby's Sitchinesque obsessions.

If you're looking for an entertaining rundown of the entire Devil Dinosaur series, check out Gorilla Daze's review of it here. If not, the short version is: proto-human boy named Moonboy romps around Pangaea with pet dinosaur (named Devil because of his scarred red skin).

Angels and Demons and Gods and Men

It's amazing how many of Kirby's legion of admirers seem oblivious to Kirby's obsession with AAT, since it's at the very core of Kirby's work from at least the early 70s to the end of his career. When astronaut theology is worked into a throwaway book like Devil Dinosaur - most assuredly Kirby's least-regarded 70s title - it's a pretty sure indicator that intervention theory had become one of Kirby's foremost preoccupations at that time. Kirby even worked Indeed, when Kirby returned to the themes of The New Gods in the 80s with Captain Victory (which was meant as an unofficial continuation of the Fourth World saga) and The Hunger Dogs, the obsession with technology as divinity had overwhelmed the concept's original narrative.

Shamanic Visions and Ancient Astronauts

Kirby's lapse into astronaut theology in Devil Dinosaur began with "Object From the Sky," which - true to Kirby form- presaged an alien/UFO story with a psychedelic/shamanic vision (see below), in this case a prophetic nightmare of Moonboy's (note similarity to "Moonchild").

Terrence McKenna would've been proud...

This visionary nightmare is followed by the landing of an alien spacecraft, manned by robotic colonists. They notice Moonboy has speech capability and take him to the lab for vivisection. Meanwhile, two other proto-humans- "Stone Hand," and a tribal elder/ medicine man named "White Hairs"- escape and enlist Devil in their resistance against the aliens. Robotic astronauts are also a central tenet of Kirby's Astro-Gnosticism. Kirby would steer his 2001 adaptation in Machine Man, based on his belief that space travel- at least at the onset- would be performed by machines. At this point we can also certainly assume that some kind of transhumanist cybernetic human is also being considered for space travel.

The second chapter of the tale was titled - wait for it- "Journey to the Center of the Ants." In this installment, Stone Hand, White Hairs and Devil disrupt a nest of giant ants. The ants are then sicced on the robot colonists, who are in the process of destroying all the native fauna. Throughout the story the protohumans call on invisible gods to aid them in their battle, but it's the action Devil that prove decisive.

Adam, Eve, The Devil and the Fall

The cover tantalizingly christens the next installment "The Fall," but Kirby's own title is "Eev." Here, Stone Hand and White Hairs encounter the proto-woman who lends her name to the story's title. While the ants make mincemeat of the robots, Stone Hand manhandles Eev, whom he selects as his mate to create a new tribe. Kirby cuts off that story there and takes us back to the UFO, which is now in ruins. Moonboy escapes and encounters the "Demon Tree," a remnant of the robot's prime computer. Having been separated from the rest of the ship, the computer is now writing its own commands. The story ends with Stone Hand and his companions confronting the Demon Tree, which now claims to be "all-knowing...all-powerful."

Storming the Gates of Eden

In the last act of the story, Stone-Hand, White Hairs and Eev are ensconced in a protective dome by the Demon Tree computer, who is trying to repel Devil at Stone Hand's request. Devil then trundles off to find Moonboy and the proto-humans find their new abode to be both prison and paradise. After White Hairs dies from radiation poisoning, Stone Hand begins to question the beneficience of their alien protector and rebels.

The computer is then again damaged and Stone Hand enlists Devil and Moonboy (who just happen to be wondering by) to destroy the dome and free them from the would-be deity. As Moonboy and Devil and Stone Hand and Eev go their separate ways, Kirby writes: "The tale of the Demon Tree will be told, of course...many times, many ages...and each time it is told there will be slight differences and changes so that the original version will be lost...and remain true only to those who took part in it."

Be Wise as Serpents...

This story has ancient parallels in the teachings of esoteric Gnostic cults. Some sects interpreted the Serpent in the Garden of Eden as Christ, come to liberate Adam and Eve from the Demiurge, or the fallen creator god of this abortion of a world. Of course, Christians often interpet the Serpent as the Devil, though there's nothing about Satan in the text itself.

What the text says is that the Serpent was condemned to crawl on his belly by Jehovah, indicating that prior to the Temptation he had arms and legs, just as the giant reptile Devil Dinosaur does.

So here we have Kirby reenacting the Garden of Eden story according to the Gnostic interpretation, with the Demiurge being the fragment of an alien computer. Just as did the Demiurge, the Demon Tree claims to be omnipotent and all knowing and imprisons his subjects. Note that even the name "Demon Tree" isn't all that far removed from "Demiurge." Was this intentional on Kirby's part?

Kirby was a voracious reader and spent most of his life in the creative pleroma, but this seems extremely esoteric, even for him. This story hit the stands a full year before Elaine Pagels published The Gnostic Gospels, though it's certainly possible Kirby may have encountered these obscure doctrines elsewhere- or through other means entirely. However, Kirby is not only trying to concretize this strange theology, he's also bypassing the supernatural and ascribing the mystical interpretation of this story to ignorance and corruption.

I've been coming to believe that there could well be an ancient astronaut basis to Gnosticism, since the mystical explanations of this belief system simply present us with a different variety of faith. It seems to me that "Knowledge" must be of something tangible, something that can measured in some way and evaluated. If you look at Gnosticism in the context of Astronaut Theology, Gnostic creation myths start to make a lot more sense- they are metaphorical descriptions of an extraterrestrial prehistory.

Celtic Ash Moon And Solar Flares

Celtic Ash Moon And Solar Flares Equal Magical Bonus Today
We are currently in the Celtic month of the ash tree Feb 18-March 17 according to Robert Graves Celtic Tree Calendar, and tonight is the Full Ash Moon.

The Ash month is the perfect time to work magic to help put your plans into action! The ash tree has energies that are all about transformation and action, and is great for breaking through barriers that block your way to success. Breaking inertia takes strong action, according to physics an object at rest tends to remain at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion. The month of the ash is the time to move from rest into action. Harnessing ash tree energy this full moon can help you face a challenging situation in order to transform you and help you forge a new reality!

The Ash Card from Voice of the Trees, Lugh sharpening his spear and about to take action! This print is available in The Official Voice of the Trees Etsy shop Click here

ASH MOON, ASH SUN

Today is a very special day in regards to the Celtic Tree Calendar, lets examine a couple of things. First of all, the Celtic Tree Calendar is a lunar calendar that revolves around the 13 moons of the year, today is the full ash moon. Ash is also associated with the sun, the Celtic sun God Lugh was said to carry a magical spear called Millar, which was made of the wood of the ash tree. It was said that no battle could be sustained against it or against the man who held it. One of Lugh's titles was Lugh of the Long Arm, possibly suggesting the spear as part of him.

So what makes today any different than any other Full Ash Moon? Large solar flares erupted on the sun this Tuesday and are due to deliver waves of solar plasma and charged particles very close to our planet "today, on the day of the full ash moon." If you live near the poles you may see brighter and more active auroras as the particles hit the earths magnetic field.

What does this mean magically? Well, if you want to work some magic using ash tree energy, this is a powerful time to do it that we may never see again in our lifetime!

Creating my Ash Tree Sun and Moon Power Amulet this morning.

ASH TREE SUN AND MOON POWER AMULET

I wrote this spell for creating this solar charged ash amulet specifically for today, but you can do it anytime, ideally during the ash month, but today during the solar flares and on the full ash moon, this spell will "rock!" You'll need a twig from an ash tree, a gold or yellow candle and a white candle. Using a wood burner if you have it, otherwise use a gold pen, or a black permanent marker, put the ogham symbol for ash in the center of the twig, put the astrological symbol for the sun above, and the moon below. Take the twig outside and pace it where the sunlight will fall upon it, even if it's cloudy where you are, the sun will still shine through the clouds. Hold your hands above it and summon the energy with these words,

"Solar rays, I call your power

Charge this amulet by the hour,

Geomagnetic energy

Fill this amulet for me,

The energies of the mighty ash

Glowing moon and solar flash

Empower this amulet of craft

As I seal now, my spell is cast."

Leave it in the sun all day and under the full moon all night. You now have a very powerful amulet full of the special energies of the day, the power of ash, the sun, the moon and the geomagnetic energies of the earth. Use this amulet can now give a powerful boost to any spell that needs extra umph. You can also keep it near your front door and use it to magically protect your space, near your bed to ward off nightmares, or in your car for safe travel. Ash is the Swiss army knife of the Celtic trees. Carry it in your pocket for protection from negative energy.

Ash is used for spells involving taking action, healing, protection from psychic attack, destroying negativity, banishing nightmares, solar magic, communication, intellect, safe travel over water, transition, growth, creativity, and success.

Here's a closeup of the one I made, it's sitting outside collecting energy now, I used a wood burner for the ogham, and both a permanent marker and gold paint pen for the sun and moon designs.

More information on working with tree energies is available in my Celtic Tree Calendar Online Classes, click here for more info

SATELLITES AND COMMUNICATIONS

Be aware that today we may also have minor disruptions, solar radiation storms can sometimes interrupt communications and power grids on Earth, and we might see some interfere with satellites today. Of course power grid operators have been alerted and are watching for any potential problems. If you're planning a flight today over one of the poles, there may be communication problems, but again, the aircraft operators have already taken precautionary measures. Any disruptions should be minor, if they happen at all, but the potential for a big boost for any sun magic done today is very good!

Happy Ash Moon!

Why Evolution is True has a must-read post about the multi-component strategy accommodationists are using to discredit atheists (if you are unfamiliar with the term "accommodationists," see this article on the subject). It provides a useful lens through which to consider much of the anti-atheist work you are seeing these days. I'll paraphrase the main claims of the accommodationists below, but do yourself a favor and read the post.

The primary claims we are seeing from the accommodationists again and again include:

* Science is one way of discovering the truth; religion is another.
* Relying solely on empiricism and rationalism is a mistake, and those who do this resemble fundamentalists in their close-mindedness.
* Science and religion can contribute to each other.
* The so-called "new atheists" are simply mean and are contributing nothing of value to the dialogue between religion and science.

I don't know about you, but I have seen these claims more times than I can count. It seems that the accommodationists prefer tranquility to reality.

Book Review: Gathering The Magic

Book Review Gathering The Magic
When starting up an order, temple, coven, or other magical group in the modern world, there usually is not much in the way of resources. Not knowing how to attract other members, build a system of study and ritual, and deal with the inevitable conflicts that occur when more than one person comes together can spell doom for any start-up magical group. One exception to this lack of resources is Nick Farrell's Gathering the Magic, which attempts to give a would-be group leader some of the advice needed to succeed in this endeavour. While John Michael Greer's Inside a Magical Lodge still has much to offer in this regard, Nick's book is a bit more up to date, dealing with the issues that a group in the 21st Century will have to face.

The book numbers 188 pages and has a number of chapters dealing with the group itself, the leadership, the practical elements, bringing in new people, conflict and crisis, and then growth or death of the group. These are further divided into shorter sub-sections that make for easy reading.

Nick offers some useful insights into the minds of those who join and work with magical groups, including whether someone is a leader or a follower, how they will fit in with the egregore, what to do with grades, and what kind of leadership role (guru, round table, panel, three chiefs, etc.) will work best. This latter section is dealt with extremely well, with a number of advantages and disadvantages given for each possibility.

On the practical side of things essential elements like a name, location, and fee structure are addressed, along with ritual work to be carried out at each meeting, and all of the various tools and regalia that may be required, depending on the nature of the group.

The leadership role is given quite a bit of attention given how important it is (and how detrimental a bad leadership can be), but Nick stresses the importance on spreading the work load and strongly encourages the individualising of each member of the group. The section detailing the "warning signs" when someone is about to individualise (which is a good thing, but not without its own painful and sometimes destructive process) is particularly good, especially considering that Nick is advising that potential leaders aid the individualising person as opposed to simply expelling them from the group because of what seems like trouble-making at first.

One problem with the book is the large number of typos, which shows that the editor did not really give it the attention it deserved. Luckily enough these aren't bad enough to distract from the material. Another obvious error occurs with the citing of a book that has not been released yet. In a footnote on page 157 Nick cites Peregrin Wildoak's By Names and Images (information on which can be found here) as being published in 2004. Unfortunately due to delays at Thoth Publications this book still has not been released. Since the copy of Gathering the Magic that I am reading has been updated to a second edition in 2007 I wonder why this footnote wasn't ammended to be more accurate.

Gathering the Magic is mainly focused on ceremonial magic groups, but the advice is generally applicable to all, whether it's a Freemason lodge, a Golden Dawn temple, or a Wiccan coven. Some of the information and advice is fairly common-sense, but it's the kind of common-sense that only occurs when someone highlights it, while many other guidelines Nick gives will not have occured to most group leaders. It is clear that he does not base these things on speculation but on a number of years experience, and thus this book will be of great benefit to those lacking in the experience required to create and grow a successful magical group.

Mystical Atheism Sightings

Mystical Atheism Sightings
It is Good Friday, a day that for me has rich theological meaning. Many Christians around the world will gather to remember the one whose death on a cross serves to reveal to the world the extent of God's love for that world. Good Friday and Easter can be explored historically, but the ultimate meaning of these events must be understood through faith. So, perhaps it's with a bit of irony that I would be sharing this essay about atheist Barbara Ehrenreich's recognition of the mystical. In the essay we learn that one of the things that Ehrenreich lacks is vocabulary to express her experiences. As a believer, I am thankful that I do have vocabulary, but I think we can learn something from her experiences - there is more to reality than meets the eye!

Activist Barbara Ehrenreich on "Living With a 'Wild' God"

Online, radio, and print news is abuzz about Barbara Ehrenreich's new book, "Living with a Wild God", with the paradoxical subtitle," A Nonbeliever's Search for the Truth about Everything". And, yes, this is "the fourth-generation atheist," Barbara Ehrenreich, of leftist-labor and feminist-activism fame, whose award-winning journalistic investigations into social, economic, and political issues span decades.

Now in her early seventies, Ehrenreich discloses a narrative running parallel to her life and career since a young age, most significantly a personal experience at seventeen. On a predawn walk in Lone Pine, California, Ehrenreich recalls, she encountered "something alive" which she describes as nothing short of a "cataclysmic experience" when "the world flamed into life."

No visual hallucination, no prophetic voices; rather, the world opened up and was "rushing out to" her. Ehrenreich writes: "Something poured into me and I poured out into it... a furious encounter with a living substance." Looking back on this moment, as recorded by her younger self, Ehrenreich reflects on the want of adequate language to describe what happened, personally, experientially, and as an atheist who continues to describe herself a rational empiricist (though, recently, also as a "mystical rationalist").

Grasping for words outside of "ineffable, transcendence, spiritual," or "religious," Ehrenreich leans on the word "mystical" to carry her burden of meaning. The lack a vocabulary to express the varieties of the inexpressible leads Ehrenreich to her larger challenge to science: go forth boldly in the study of uncanny experiences.

This challenge also arises from the question Ehrenreich poses, as a young woman writing in her journal, to the woman she would become. "What have you figured out?" her younger self asks her future self. "What's it all about?" And, the age-old question: "What is actually going on here?" Big questions "hurling across the decades from one's younger self" pose quite a challenge, not to mention responsibility, reflects Ehrenreich.

The quest to answer these questions has taken her across decades of writing and research, through debate-strewn lands in which she has engaged psychiatric disorders, neuroscience, fiction and non-fiction writers, philosophers, and more.

From the psychologist and philosopher, William James, she draws some insight, especially on mysticism. From the theologian, Rudolph Otto, she draws support from his idea of the encounter with the Other as "beyond all question something quite other than the 'good.'" Otto's description of encounters as something like a "consuming fire," with possible disturbing effects, resonates, says Ehrenreich, with her own experience.

She takes issue with narratives equating encounters with the Other as good, divine, or benevolent. Hers was more akin to what Otto calls "mysterium tremendum et fascinans-"at once, one trembles "and" is fascinated. She has sought out others' stories of encounters, from saints to science fiction writers, such as Philip K. Dick, with an eye to charting these troubled waters of alternative experiences outside of ready understandings of "the religious" or "the spiritual."

Equally critical, Ehrenreich tills familiar research-terrain in neuroscience and religion to uproot tendencies to reduce mind to brain. Surrendering one to the other imposes limits on vocabularies of subjective experience and curtails new studies of "the uncanny" or alternative forms of consciousness. Here she is not alone, for James and many others have also challenged this kind of medical materialism or reductionism and its implications for an interior life.

If Ehrenreich misses a thing or two in her argument it may be how experiences of the uncanny have set inquiries into motion and changed relations between religion, science and psychology throughout the ages. Witness: early twentieth-century scholars James or Otto, or, today, Anne Harrington.

Also, currently there are a growing number of experts who are reinvigorating not just the age-old questions Ehrenreich raises but age-old questions about the relationship between science and religion (and psychology).

Consider, for example, religious studies scholars (e.g., Rubenstein) interested in philosophy, theology and physics' "persistent entanglements" often arising from multiple-worlds cosmologies, physicists (e.g., Lightman) pondering our significance and how we make psychological sense of living in an "accidental universe," and social and political philosophers (e.g., Dupuy) contesting skewed relations between religion, science, and reason in which faith is set over and against reason.

Ehrenreich's request for a bolder science and neuroscience is a worthy one. While her interests lean to a phenomenological side, her book suggests a call to cultural and social structures and to histories of science, psychology and religion for more, not less, cosmic wandering.
