Polity And Disunity

Polity And Disunity
For the past few years I have followed, with genuine interest, the story about the TAC (Traditional Anglican Communion) working towards unity with Rome. At one point I was certain that I knew a great deal about it, but no longer. A few confusing and contradictory pieces of information have come my way; so I wait in hopes of learning the details and ascertaining the facts.

I cannot tell if the goal of establishing an Anglican "Uniate" Church has been replaced by a hope for "intercommunion" with Rome. Such a relationship is enjoyed by only a few churches, such as, for example, the Polish National Catholic Church; and then only under special circumstances.

As many readers will know, the institution the Catholic Church (when used exclusively to mean the Church of Rome and all of the churches that are under obedience to the Pope), contains several rites beside the Roman Rite, especially several Eastern Rite churches. When first I heard of the talks between the TAC and Rome the goal was that of establishing an Anglican Rite in the same way. As this was expressed to me about three years ago, it would exceed the significance of Anglican Use liturgies, because, to a much greater extent, the Anglican Ethos would survive in many of its crucial aspects as part of the larger Communion that includes all of the churches that are in communion with the Apostolic See of Rome.

Nonetheless, as a matter of stating the obvious, one very real and thorny issue appears to stand as an obstacle. And, I am sorry for that. I believe in One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church (and for Prayer Book purists, who insist on the scribal error of dropping "Holy" from one Creed, remember it remains in the Apostle's Creed).

The Church, despite its apparent divisions, already is One. That is an article of faith, and one that keeps me from thinking that I must choose one or other of the two "One True Churches." So, I am hoping that the one obstacle I see will give way to the Unity of the Church by the working of the Holy Ghost.

When the Lord Jesus prayed "that they all may be one," this was not the pathetic cry of a suppliant hoping that we, mere mortals who wrestle with demonic powers, are somehow required to grant to Him. One Person of the Godhead expressed the Divine Will to Another Person of the Godhead. Other words had been spoken within the Trinity from the dawn of time: "Let there be light... Let us make man in our image..." The same Triune God spoke His will concerning the first husband and wife, creating marriage as part of human nature and making the man and woman one flesh within its bonds.

"That they all may be one..." makes the One Church an article of faith for us. The word of God created it so, just as His word makes every married couple into one flesh. Some married couples live apart, whether by separation or by the legal fiction called "divorce." But, their oneness is the work of God, part of His very creation.

Likewise, the divisions of the Holy Catholic Church are only apparent. They are realities only insofar as they affect relations among Catholic Christians. We Anglicans are told that our belief about the Church should be called the "Branch Theory." But, if it is a theory it is still a fact, just like the Theory of Gravity. No doubt the Church has suffered apparent divisions, and needs to experience reconciliation. But, its oneness is established and confessed in Credo.

So, of course, I wish to see efforts towards visible unity succeed.

What is the problem? The simple fact is, the only people who can lead Catholic-minded Christians into workable unity are the bishops. Quite obviously, in light of the recognition by Rome of the validity of the Old Catholic orders, and to this day Rome's recognition of the validity of the Polish National Catholic Church, married bishops are not a doctrinal problem. Rome recognizes married bishops as valid successors of the apostles, with full sacramental powers. And, yet, in its polity Rome has no room for married men to hold the office of bishop. I see no simple or obvious way around this problem. Perhaps someone reading this blog has an accurate answer. But, for now, it seems to me to be a genuine obstacle.

Differentiation Of Egregores

Differentiation Of Egregores
(Note: Some readers may have read this already. I thought that the issue is important enough that I shared it on one of the Golden Dawn forums.)

A common event during the birth years of Orders, especially those which arise out of schisms, is the founder of the Order writing a document(s) that states why their Order is different and better than the other Orders that one could join. Part of the reason for this is economical politics (all Orders of a certain type and style tend to draw off the same possible membership pool), and partly is due to ego issues (the founder of a new Order is normally doing it because he thinks that he is more capable of running an Order than the people he just broke away from).

That is what we see happening on the surface level; but there is something else going on that many people may not be aware of, which is how this is affecting the egregore of the group.

Now the term "egregore," in the oldest references that I have been able to trace it to, referred to the occult theory that each nation had an angel (god) which was its patron and guardian. This term and concept later ends up being applied to a mystery of the esoteric Orders.

Now the truth of the matter is that any group of people that gathers together will generate an egregore. Book clubs, businesses, military units, soccer fans, football fans, in fact any gathering of people will create an egregore. Most egregores are temporary things; unfortunately, they are the most primitive and the most dangerous in many ways. Riots tend to be caused by primitive egregores which is why trained Adepts tend to avoid large crowds.

It is possible for Initiates to keep themselves out of spontaneous egregores, and to be able to stand back and observe the effects of the larger ones. It is a skill like any other and can be taught; the base line information on how to do it is hidden in basic lodgekit.

Now in Golden Dawn, we use our egregore all the time. We use it for extra power during ritual, use it to help guide us, and to store excess energy for later. Call it a god, call it an angel, call it an energy bank. Except that we are not all using the same one.

Each Order has its own uber-egregore (I am open to suggestions for revision of this term, but it says what I want it to say) which acts as a template for the egregores that its daughter lodges create. This is one of the first things that an Order creates, knowingly or unknowingly. (This is not to be confused with the Arch-egregore that sits above all of them, and supports the tradition itself.)

And the founders of Orders do their part to differentiate their uber-egregore from the others. In part, this is done though changing the name of the Order, its rituals, and teachings, so that it doesn't match other Orders.

The reason for this differentiation is that every time a member of the Order generates excess energy in a ritual, the egregore absorbs it. Think of it as a direct deposit device. It knows what energies to absorb and which to ignore by how the energy was generated. And members of Orders learn to generate energy in very specific ways.

(This is by the way one of the reasons that lineage and hierarchy is important; lineage is the wiring of an initiate to send excess energy to a specific egregore based on a specific uber-egregore, and one's position in the hierarchy helps determines how much access that one has to the energy that has been previously stored.)

So for instance, when Paul Foster Case issued his statement that Enochian led to bad things, that statement helped led to the BOTA egregore ignoring the energies raised by Enochian methods (provided of course, that all the Enochian has truly been removed from the system) and not storing that energy. It would lead to a certain amount of paranoia about the energies in later members (which makes me wonder about Case himself).

You can also see differentiating statements in the works of Mathers, Fortune, and Crowley. I, myself, wrote a couple of statements at the beginning of Bast Temple that ended up affecting the system.

The differentiation of the egregores and the Orders leads to all types of interesting effects. But the most important is that the energies raised by my lodge do not flow into the energy bank of another group.

Now, I would like to explain why I have been thinking of this lately. There has been a lot of noise about differences in techniques and ethics practiced by different groups (in fact, the Denver community now has three lodges, all with a different opinion about the matter). And some people think this is a bad thing.

It is not. I am grateful for these differences. As long as these differences exist, everyone interested in Golden Dawn can find a group suitable for them. It is only when these differences disappear that we will end up with a monolithic single Order, and a whole bunch of people will be excluded from the tradition. Ironically, I would be one of the ones excluded, due to my pro-gun, pro-militia, pro-choice, and semi pro-death penalty opinions. There is also the issue of my big mouth. And quite honestly, I like being part of Golden Dawn.

How You Shouldn't View The Jews A Reply To Dr D

How You Shouldnt View The Jews A Reply To Dr D Part I
Recently browsing through the Blogosphere; as I sometimes do when I am not feeling up to conducting research, writing another book or working through a novel, I came across an article by a chap who writes under the pseudonym; "'Dr. D'", at the "'Sarah Maid of Albion'" blog. The article concerned is entitled:" 'How should we view the Jews?'"Unfortunately the article is from July 2010 so it is very slightly dated, but as it isn't too old I have taken the view that it is worth replying to it from the perspective of an educated anti-Semitism. As "'Dr. D'" is courteous and thoughtful in his writing I shall observe the academic pleasantries as opposed to my preferred polemical style on SC.

D starts off by juxtaposing the two most common forms of non-jewish reaction to jews: the philo-Semitic (the jews are generally good) and the anti-Semitic (the jews are generally bad). His example of the philo-Semitic camp (most Evangelical Christians [well in the US anyway]) is reasonable, but his example of the anti-Semitic camp (the Protocols of Zion proponents) is highly misleading. This is unfortunate as D remarks that "'we should first know something about'" the jews before we form an opinion: I would point out that D unfortunately has not followed his own creed here as it is plain as day that he knows very little about opponents of the jews (historically or currently) or even the jews in some instances.

I am sure D would disagree upon reading my comments here, but it is worth understanding that although the Protocols of Zion are the most famous anti-jewish text in this day and age: their believers were never the majority of anti-Semites as far as I can ascertain but rather a very vocal minority (rather like pagans in the Third Reich). Unfortunately some authors on the Protocols; who are often jewish, have propounded a large number of myths surrounding their reception and the belief in them beyond the early years of their mass publication in the West (i.e. from 1917 to the mid-1920s).

Be that as it may be: D's example of the anti-Semitic camp is poorly chosen as it represents only one strand (and not even a major one) of anti-jewish thought and certainly doesn't in any way equate to the widespread and unusual belief systems of Evangelical Christians regarding jewishness. A better example that D could have used would have been the anti-Semitic groups of the 1880s and 1890s in France and Germany, which; although less useful rhetorically speaking, would more accurately describe anti-jewish thought in both its historic and modern contexts in much the same way that the Evangelical Christian example does (perhaps more so than D is aware).

I am somewhat surprised at D's comment that the West "'enjoys'" the" 'benefits'" of a "'Judeo-Christian heritage'" regardless of one's present beliefs, which is a tautology as it simply reasserts the premise without giving the required clarity as to why this is the case. Disproving such an assertion is simple enough as it merely requires a thought experiment.

To wit: if; as D posits, the West has acquired" 'benefits'" from its "'Judeo-Christian heritage'" then surely it has equally acquired "'benefits'" from various genocidal actions that it has undertaken round the world, which therefore means that the "'anti-Imperialist'"arguments of "'national liberation'" used by Marxists and leftists in their various different shades of crimson are correct. In essence: you can't have your cake and eat it. All or none must be true: unless we do as Nietzsche exclaimed and get back to the core of the issues concerned.

The core of the issue is; of course, biology and its necessary concomitant when trying to understand any biological group: sub-species (better known as race). I don't propose to point out at length the need to understand history as an exponential and evolving series of individual and group conflicts, but rather to simply observe that the "'Judeo-Christian heritage'" that D wishes to ascribe such positive values to and derive benefit from has equally been applied to very different peoples with very different effects. Need I remind D of the huge gulf that separate say the Church of Rome from the Coptic Christians of Egypt and the apparent lack of value the Copts have derived from their "'Judeo-Christian heritage' "in comparison to the West?

After all if it is the "'values'" and "'spirituality'" that make the man: then surely we are dealing with the long-debunked theory of the Tabula Rasa (the "'Blank Slate'") here (which essentially posits a pseudo-Lamarckian view of human biology and the resultant veiled denial of Mendelian genetics)? I don't wish to ascribe views; that D may not hold, to him, but I would question whether D has fully understood the necessary implications of his arguments; whether he views them as rhetorical or factual, in a wider context.

Thus the objective constant; per the scientific method, cannot be the "'Judeo-Christian heritage'" of the West that D puts forward, but rather it has to be an objective constant that does differ and does dispassionately alter the socio-cultural expression of a given idea and we have just such an objective constant in biological groups also known as races.

D also incorrectly asserts that the "'basis'" of "'civil law'" is Christian (actually Roman and Greek), our customs (a seriously mixed bag often with non-Christian roots) and that everything we know has grown out of this "'Judeo-Christian'" background. I'd agree with the latter point to an extent, but again D is unfortunately guilty of overstating his case (and in a sense misrepresenting it by doing so) as he doesn't clarify that it is only a part of the background.

If" 'Judeo-Christian'"; a term I personally object to, ideas have played a large background part to things then so have earlier non-Christian ones as well as later secular ones by virtue of the same logic. Need I remind D that the Italian Renaissance has not without reason been styled as the re-emergence of paganism in Europe as it resulted from the rediscovery of pagan art and intellectuals, of which stories are still told (for example the artists who paid to be lowered into Nero's palace so they could study and paint the luxurious frescos).

In essence: you cannot ascribe single causative status to the so-called "'Judeo-Christian heritage'" as it is but one of many worldviews that necessarily have impacted the values and ideas that D holds dear if we choose to look at history in terms of ideas, philosophies and intellectual fashions/fetishes. It is also noteworthy that in ascribing to a "'Judeo-Christian heritage'" a causative power then D is subscribing to the position that an abstract idea; as what on earth is the "'Judeo-Christian heritage'" specifically (it could literally be almost anything), causes an objective fact (the power of the West) to occur. That is rather like suggesting that because the Prophet Mohammed was the Chosen of Allah then the mountain must therefore have sprouted legs and gone to Mohammed in spite of the objective fact that we know mountains cannot move anywhere on their own.

D then makes the statement that if we should have an opinion about the jews then we should know something about with which I generally occur given that I believe that if one deals with the reality of the jew then the world will applaud anti-Semites; like me, but if we don't deal with that reality and make the jew a cruel and inhuman monster then the world will have justified contempt for anti-Semites like me. That said while it is clear to me that D has read some literature on the jews: I would question the factual nature of a lot of his assertions about both Judaism and jews.

After an orthodox; if misguided, evangelical exegesis on the origin of the jews D makes a categorical error when he asserts that" 'to be a Jew came to be one who followed the Law of Moses'" as that leaves out the meaning of the "'Chosen People'"; i.e. that that status is handed down from father to son; if you will, not from a confession of religious faith. The jews were already; at this time, associating jewishness not with confession of faith, but with being descended from the Israelites that Moses allegedly brought out of Egypt (600,000 if one believes the Gemara). I am this surprised to find that D leaves out any mention of the Prophets Nehemiah and Ezra; for example, who preach that exact doctrine to the Israelites and note that while he cites a passage from Genesis he does not cite others that contradict his assertion of a confession of faith being sufficient. The only example I can immediately recall from the Tanakh where a confession of faith is thought to be sufficient to be regarded as a jew; of a sort, is Ruth the Moabitess who is something of an exception to the rule and is probably part of the origin; or at least the rabbinic justification, for jewishness being governed by the maternal line in all instances except for the Kohanim and Levites (where it is the paternal line that matters) from at least the era of the academies (but probably far earlier).

This lack of recognition of the biological nature of jewishness at this early juncture means that the remainder of D's presentation on the history of the jewish kingdoms in Palestine and the sects at the time of Jesus is flawed. He further compounds his error by claiming that "'Judaism is what makes a Jew, at least historically'" which is; I am afraid, not correct as while Judaism has served as the tool which has kept the jewish community together: the jewish sense of mission; even in this early period, and of having a unique and separate identity is obvious from even a brief reading of the academic literature on the subject.

A pointed case is the Hellenizing; i.e. secular, jews; a representative example being Philo of Alexandria: who while not exactly orthodox worshippers of Hashem sought to reconcile Greek and Latin philosophy with Judaism as it then existed. One wonders how D is to explain that if Judaism was the whole of the jewish experience at this early juncture: then how does explain the explicitly jewish individuals; like Herod Agrippa II, who acted in the jewish communities interests in Rome, but were not even slightly interested in Judaism?

Simply put: I am afraid D cannot do so within his outlined ideological position but rather uses an over-generalization to Christianise; for lack of a better term, Judaism and to make it more like later Christianity than later Judaism. One can quite easily see from D's comments that he is using Saint Paul's conception of the meaning of "'gentile'"rather than the one common to Judaism at the time. This is probably merely an accidental expression of D's own beliefs than anything malicious or deliberately misleading, but it never-the-less is dangerously lacking in context and does significantly mislead the reader.

D fails to highlight; due to this fundamental error, for example the well-known links between the Essenes and the Zealots: nor does he highlight that both groups started life as extremist variants within the Pharisees. The Essenes choosing a life of seclusion and abstinence following the "'Teacher of Righteousness'" in; what is sometimes argued as, an early form of monasticism. The Zealots fundamentally believed the same thing as the Essenes, but differed in the belief that they were the hand of Yahweh and could bring about the coming of the jewish Messiah by fighting the Romans tooth and nail as well as purifying Israel of those members who collaborated with the original; in jewish eyes, "'evil empire'".

The difference between the two is perhaps best understood by putting it in the context of modern Judaism: those religious jews who are also Zionists believe that by recreating a jewish state in Palestine they can hasten the advent of the jewish Messiah (like the Zealots) and those religious jews who are anti-Zionists who believe that recreating a jewish state in Palestine does not hasten; and in fact prevents, the advent of the jewish Messiah (like the Essenes). Neither doubt each other's fundamental religious beliefs, but rather their disagreement is about how to get to the desired state (the Messianic times when the jews rule the world).

Once again the lack of understanding on D's part that Judaism both at this time and later followed a biological definition of what a jew was comes to the fore. As he fails to note that none of the four parties he mentions; the Sadducees, Pharisees, Essenes and Zealots, all believed that membership of Israel was inherited not confessed and that their primary objection was not that non-jews were in Palestine, but that they were subordinated; as the Chosen of Yahweh, to a gentile power (the" 'Rome and Persia'" of the Mishnah). As well as that the definition of a gentile was such that one could not truly convert and usually became a "'God Fearer' "(a concept from which the Noahide Laws derive whence a gentile unconditionally dedicates themselves to the service of jews as Yahweh's "'Chosen nation'") or at very best a" 'jewish soul born into an impure gentile body'" (meaning one is a lower class of jew, not a member of Israel as such and at a hereditary disadvantage in marital, social and religious terms etc).

D's comments that Judaism is a legalistic religion; with which one can only agree as Arnold Toynbee did when he called it a "'dead'" religion of ritual and form alone (which follows; for example, Voltaire's mischievous critique of Judaism), and that "'most'" of the Judaism of today has roots; in this particular epoch, in the ideas of the Pharisees is correct. However D then moves into a very confused discussion of Judaism and jewish identity when he tries to justify his claim that Judaism; as a confession of faith, makes the jew.

D doesn't tell us why; after acknowledging that religious and non-religious jews exist within the same identity with a shared historical narrative and assumptions, "'religious faith'" is the single causative factor of this shared identity; which some politically left-wing elements have sought to conflate with the biological concept of the nation through the medium of the term "'national identity'", but rather makes the odd claim that "'despite religious faith, they [the jews] exhibit all of the other characteristics of all Jews.'"

This is yet another tautology as it doesn't explain why; after splitting the jews into religious and secular (which is a gross oversimplification any way you look at it), that jews may still be understood as a religious community with non-religious jews exhibiting religious "'characteristics'". The proverbial "'elephant in the room'" here is that Judaism defines jewishness biologically and therefore the"'other characteristics'" of this "'religious group'" are; in fact, the characteristics of the jewish biological group. There is simply no way around that, but D refuses to mention it although it is clear to me that he understands; but does not wish to or cannot accept, that this is indeed the case.

A Zen Life

A Zen Life
After a brief summary of major historical events during his life of almost a century, we introduce DT SUZUKI's life story. Intersperced with this is lively discussion about the contribution he made to the spread of Zen philosophy, and to helping Westerners understand the Japanese way of thinking and being.

D.T. Suzuki had an excellent grasp of written and spoken English, combined with an exhaustive knowledge of Eastern and Western religions and philosophies. He was highly successful at getting Westerners to appreciate the Japanese mentality, and Japanese to understand Western logic. The effect he had on Western psychoanalysis, philosophy, religious thinking, and the arts was profound. His numerous writings in English and Japanese serve as an inspiration even today.

Dr. Suzuki first lived in the United States from 1897 to 1908. In 1911 he married an American, Beatrice Lane, who helped him with his work until her death in 1939. After the War he traveled and taught extensively in the United States and Europe. Of note is a series of very popular open lectures he gave at Columbia University. Many renowned Western philosophers, artists, and psychologists were affected by his writings and friendship, including Carl Jung and Erich Fromm, Christmas Humphries, Father Thomas Merton, Martin Heidegger, Karl Jaspers, Dr. Albert Stunkard, Alan Watts, Richard De Martino, Robert Aitken, John Cage, Alan Ginsberg, and Gary Snyder.

Banding Together In The Cretan Fashion

Banding Together In The Cretan Fashion
The Hellenic word synkretismos () means (more or less) "Cretan federation." The origin of the word lies in the ancient habit of the people of Crete to fight among themselves when no external enemy threatened, but to band together and fight as one against any would-be foreign invaders.

The first recorded use of the word is in Plutarch's essay "On Brotherly Love", although it appears that Plutarch is referring to a well known term he expects his reader to recognize (the direct mention of syncretism comes right at the beginning of the following passage, but the rest of this section is well worth reading through, as is the entire essay found at the link):

Then this further matter must be borne in mind and guarded against when differences arise among brothers: we must be careful especially at such times to associate familiarly with our brothers' friends, but avoid and shun all intimacy with their enemies, imitating in this point, at least, the practice of Cretans, who, though they often quarreled with and warred against each other, made up their differences and united when outside enemies attacked; and this it was which they called "syncretism."

For some there are, fluid as water, who, seeping through those who relax their hold and disagree, overthrow affinities and friendships, hating indeed both sides, but attacking the one which yields more readily because of its weakness. For while it is true that when a man is in love his young and guileless friends share his love, it is also true that the most ill-disposed of enemies make a show of sharing the indignation and wrath of one who is angered and at variance with his brother.

As, then, Aesop's hen said to the cat who inquired, with pretended solicitude, of the sick bird "How are you? Very well, if you keep away"; so one would say to the sort of person who brings up the subject of the quarrel and makes inquiries and tries to dig up some secrets, "But I shall have no trouble with my brother if neither I nor he pay attention to slanderers."

But as it is - I do not know the reason - although when we suffer from sore eyes, we think it proper to turn our gaze to colours and objects which do not beat against or offend the sight, yet when we are in the midst of fault-finding and bursts of anger and suspicion toward our brothers, we enjoy the company of those who cause the disturbance and we take on from them a false colouring, when it would be wise to run away from our enemies and ill-wishers and avoid their notice, and to associate and spend our days almost entirely with relatives and intimates and friends of our brothers, visiting their wives also and frankly telling them our reasons for complaint.

And yet there is a saying that brothers walking together should not let a stone come between them, and some people are troubled if a dog runs between brothers, and are afraid of many such signs, not one of which ever ruptured the concord of brothers; Eyet they do not perceive what they are doing when they allow snarling and slanderous men to come between them and cause them to stumble.

[Plutarch, On Brotherly Love, P19]

In the anthology Syncretism in Religion: A Reader, several of the contributors (Anita Maria Leopold, Michael Pye, Kurt Rudolph, Charles Stewart, and Luther H. Martin) discuss the origins and evolution of the word syncretism and it's meanings over time and in different contexts. (In the remainder of this post I will primarily be following Leopold, especially pp. 14-19.)

There is a positive meaning of "syncretism", dating back to the Renaissance, which is close to the original sense of the term, at least as understood by Plutarch, who associated syncretism with nothing less than the virtue of "brotherly love." This positive usage (in an Early Modern Christian European context) is owed to Erasmus of Rotterdam (1469-1536), who explicitly called upon Plutarch's syncretic Cretans for moral support, and as a precedent worthy of emulation, in the cause of advocating for a reconciliation of (often violently) competing Christian sects. In particular, Erasmus held up the example of the Cretans as illustrative of his adage #764: "Concordia fulciuntur opes etiam exiguae." Which means: "With concord even slight resources are strengthened."

Erasmus, and those who agreed with him, such as Georg Calixt (1586-1656), found themselves accused of syncretism, and here we encounter the negative meaning that some Christians have imposed on the word. This negative sense can also be understood with reference to the original meaning, for the negative sense denigrates syncretism as something resorted to at best out of necessity, or at worst out of sheer opportunism. At any rate it dismisses (or even condemns) syncretism as at the very least ad-hoc and unseemly to the point of being completely unacceptable to those seriously engaged in the lofty business of theology.

To make things more complicated, those who subsequently defended Erasmus and Calixt often accepted the negative sense of syncretism as a given, and, therefore, couched their arguments in terms of denying the charge of syncretism against Erasmus and Calixt, despite the fact that both had themselves self-identified explicitly as syncretists.

Things become even more muddled when we move from the Renaissance to the 16th and 17th centuries, when syncretism still appeared one way (negatively) to sectarian theologians who were narrowly focused on Christendom's European stronghold. They were only interested in drawing bright ideological lines to separate the correct/orthodox interpretation of the one true divine teaching from all that was "error", and to thereby guard against the unholy mongrelization of purebred truth that would result, tragically, from any unblessed unions with unclean ideas.

But by now there was a new variety of churchmen: those adventurous gatherers of souls who cast their gaze well beyond Europe, even unto the poor unbaptized savages of the New World and the Far East. To these globe-trotting missionaries, syncretism, far from being a threat to the purity of Christian teachings, instead appeared to hold the key to spreading the Gospel to the furthest reaches of the Earth. Here is how Anita Maria Leopold explains it: The expansion of Christianity in the sixteenth century was the basis on which the notion [of syncretism] became part of the mission policy. It was in the irenic ["conducive to peace and reconciliation"] sense of the term that the Franciscans and the Dominicans in Mexico planned in 1524 and in the tradition of Erasmus, "to settle the Indians around churches... and convert them by colourful ceremonies". In the East, the Jesuits regarded syncretism as a means to expand their mission, in a similar way to the Jesuit Francis Xavier (1542), who worked out a scheme to convert Japanese lords to Christianity by adapting Christianity to Japanese culture. As a result, local customs not directly in contradiction to Christianity were to be accepted. In China, another Jesuit, Matteo Ricci (ca. 1600), accepted Confucian rites and ancestor worship as a way of serving missionary purposes. He even wore the robes of a Confucian scholar.

These Moses Left The Children

These Moses Left The Children Of Israel Behind In Egypt
These Moses's left the Children of Israel behind in Egypt!

This is a story I heard from my friend when the Holy Spirit led him into a useful understanding of Scripture. Since it was tremendously helpful to me, I thought I would share it here.

A business college asked him to speak with students during the annual retreat. Since I'd sold him on my "choose between God or Mammon" view, he expressed his ability to support the doing of business activity only in accepting it as a temporary truce, terms of peace, using unrighteous Mammon until it disappeared so that one could be welcomed into eternal homes of those who had left the world to follow Christ.

A. Follow Christ, receive mansion

B. Make friends of disciple, receive a place in the guestroom.

C. Follow Mammon, end up in the doghouse.

He would conclude that option B was an interim arrangement, until option A was chosen. He got the go ahead. He sent a draft. He was called and advised it was too strong. The first speaker had already taught it was inadvisable to mix the spiritual world with the business world. One couldn't be sentimental but needed a killer instinct to survive.

This was a damper to the college, a Christian institution with a career training wing. They asked him to encourage emulation of charitable business persons ranging from Jobs, 0 to Gates, 8 and Sandberg, 10 linking giving and believing Christ to greater happiness.

They gave him a program with a title of "Who am I?" As he prepared the lesson, starting by praying, the Holy Spirit blessed him with an understanding: Jesus was praising his disciples for a job done well. Here:

LUKE 10:17-20 NET THEN THE SEVENTY-TWO RETURNED WITH JOY, SAYING, "LORD, EVEN THE DEMONS SUBMIT TO US IN YOUR NAME!" SO HE SAID TO THEM, "I SAW SATAN FALL LIKE LIGHTNING FROM HEAVEN. LOOK, I HAVE GIVEN YOU AUTHORITY TO TREAD ON SNAKES AND SCORPIONS AND ON THE FULL FORCE OF THE ENEMY, AND NOTHING WILL HURT YOU. NEVERTHELESS, DO NOT REJOICE THAT THE SPIRITS SUBMIT TO YOU, BUT REJOICE THAT YOUR NAMES STAND WRITTEN IN HEAVEN."

He realized that "who" one is depends on "where" one is. During a stint with a small organisation, he often wore different hats in different cities. He would be inspecting installations of equipment sold by the company in one and selling equipment in another. The guidance he needed was from his Planner, which told him where he was in time and geography every waking minute.

Similarly the disciples, being good Jews who knew their Old Testament, realized that Jesus had told them that they had just graduated His three year course, they knew Where they were in their Christian life in terms of preparedness. Because Exodus 32:32 has Moses wanting to return his diploma:

Exodus 32:32 NET But now, if you will forgive their sin, but if not, wipe me out from your book that you have written."

Moses asked for credentials when going to Egypt, to convince the Children of Israel he was qualified to bring them out of Egypt. God gives him what he needs. He goes to Egypt and pushes back Pharaoh and his army. He pulls Israel out.

When God tells us to announce the arrival of the Kingdom of God and the resulting freeing of the captives to sin, we can ask for empowering. This empowering persuades our listeners to follow us as we push away sins oppressive forces, sickness, poverty and hard labour and pull our family and friends and neighbors to safety into the Promised Land, AKA Kingdom of God.

Luke 10:9-12 NET Heal the sick in that town and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come upon you!' But whenever you enter a town and the people do not welcome you, go into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this: The kingdom of God has come.' I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town!

Will believers hear God say to them, "Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names stand written in heaven" as they push back financial and other oppression in their circle with their diplomas, or will they hear,

MATTHEW 7:23 NET THEN I WILL DECLARE TO THEM, 'I NEVER KNEW YOU. GO AWAY FROM ME, YOU LAWBREAKERS!'

These Moses's had left the Children of Israel behind in Egypt!

Luke 4:18-21 NET " The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord ' s favor. " Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he began to tell them, "Today this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read."

John 3:2 He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."

John 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father."

Luke 7:18-23 NET John's disciples informed him about all these things. So John called two of his disciples and sent them to Jesus to ask, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?" When the men came to Jesus, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask, 'Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?'" At that very time Jesus cured many people of diseases, sicknesses, and evil spirits, and granted sight to many who were blind. So he answered them, "Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news proclaimed to them. Blessed is anyone who takes no offense at me."

In David Platt's book," Radical", he writes of George Muller who set up an orphanage, without asking for support. Muller is recorded as saying his ministry was not to look after orphans, but to persuade people God was with him and they needed to come" out of Egypt" where the slave masters overworked you, paid you nothing, and threw your body to decay in the desert when you died, and come to the Promised Land, where one would live in houses built by others and drink from Wells dug by others.

Matthew 19:29-30 NET And whoever has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

Remember, being a blessing materially to your family and friends is God's command to you, but it is only equipping, to bring them out of Egypt. Remaining in Egypt is dangerous. The oppressors can return.

Obedience, is announcing that God's Kingdom has come, law keeping is not complete till THAT is done.

Gosh, the Holy Spirit completely blew us away, both my friend and I! Hope He has the same effect on you and people you share His leading with.

Santeria Is Cubas New Favorite Religion

Santeria Is Cubas New Favorite Religion
Santeria - or "the worship of saints" - is gaining ground as a popular religious practice in Cuba.Developed in the African slave communities of the island's 18th Century sugar plantations, it's a syncretic religion adopting elements of Spanish-imposed Catholicism while maintaining the central beliefs of Africa's kidnapped natives, primarily Nigeria's Yoruba tribe.

As a practice rooted within a world of oppression, Santeria is shrouded in secrecy, surviving first the ruthless command of slave masters and imperial governance, and later the religious intolerance of Castro's government. The religion owes its continued existence over the centuries to the prevalence of the oral tradition, with believers passing on, preserving, and nurturing its secrets through countless generations.

Today, Santeria has emerged from the shadows of a Cuban society now at liberty to practice religion, and is witnessing not only an increase of acceptance but also of popularity. In its earliest days Santeria was an exclusive slave practice - a rejection of the masters' Catholic saints and the colonial Christian God - and it was the slave social centers ("calbidos") of the tiny village of Palmira that witnessed its first inception.

Here, Cuban slaves congregated on a weekly basis in order to worship the spirit gods of Oloddumare and the Orishas, through whom they believed mortals communicated with the higher God.The Orishas are semi-divine beings, each expressing a specific aspect of human existence. Ochun is manifested in romantic love and money matters, while Oggun represents war, Chango embodies passion and virility, and Babalu Aye symbolizes healing.

In return, each enjoys one day of the year dedicated to his or her honor, on which "Santeros"will summon the Orisha through music, dance, and ceremonial performances in which offerings of food, rum, and animal blood are made to the present spirit. As the religion has evolved, each Orisha has become firmly associated with a specific Christian saint; Yoruban Chango, for example, is now synonymous with Christianity's young beheaded Santa Barbara.

This form of worship demonstrates the equal faith that many of Santeria's adherents have placed in both the Orishas and the Catholic saints. By accepting and adopting the beliefs of both Cuba's historic oppressor and oppressed, they have formed a religion that can neither be labeled as truly Christian nor Yoruba, but instead inherently Cuban.

As with other syncretic religions practiced in Latin America, Santeria offers an outlet through which modern Cubans can fuse together a ruptured past. After centuries of underground existence, Santeria is becoming an open practice, with participation coming from all levels of society. Representing a shared identity, Santeria is a cultural inheritance, a dynamic form of worship - and a uniquely Cuban religion.

Festival Of Hecate August

Festival Of Hecate August 13
THE DATE OF AUGUST 13TH IS SACRED TO "HECATE. " IT IS THE TRADITIONAL FESTIVAL HELD IN HER HONOR WHICH DATES BACK TO THE ROMAN ERA. THIS IS THE TIME WHEN ANCIENT PEOPLES WOULD CALL FOR HER BLESSING aND PROTECTION FOR THEIR CROPS FROM THE FIERCE STORMS THAT WOULD OFTEN OCCUR AT THIS TIME AND WERE BELIEVED TO BE CAUSED BY THE MOON.

"HECATE", WHOSE NAME MEANS "SHE WHO WORKS HER WILL" OCCUPIES A RATHER UNCERTAIN PLACE IN GREEK MYTHOLOGY. IN EARLIER ACCOUNTS, SHE IS SEEN AS A POWERFUL DEITY ASSOCIATED WITH BRIGHTNESS, BUT IN LATER TIMES, SHE IS CONNECTED WITH DARKNESS AND THE "UNDERWORLD". SHE IS THE OLDEST GODDESS IN WESTERN CULTURE TO HE ASSOCIATED WITH WITCHCRAFT. "HECATE" WAS A GODDESS OF THE MOON, THE" UNDERWORLD", ENCHANTMENT, THE CROSSROADS, AND THE NIGHT SPIRITS.

IN HESIOD'S "THEOGONY", " HECATE" IS CONSIDERED "ZEUS' "FAVORITE GODDESS:

"HECATE WHOM ZEUS THE SON OF CRONOS HONOURED ABOVE ALL. HE GAVE HER SPLENDID GIFTS, TO HAVE A SHARE OF THE EARTH AND THE UNFRUITFUL SEA. SHE RECEIVED HONOUR ALSO IN STARRY HEAVEN, AND IS HONOURED EXCEEDINGLY BY THE DEATHLESS GODS... THE SON OF CRONOS DID HER NO WRONG NOR TOOK ANYTHING AWAY OF ALL THAT WAS HER PORTION AMONG THE FORMER TITAN GODS: BUT SHE HOLDS, AS THE DIVISION WAS AT THE FIRST FROM THE BEGINNING, PRIVILEGE BOTH IN EARTH, AND IN HEAVEN, AND IN SEA". "

ACCORDING TO HESIOD, HER GIFTS TOWARDS MANKIND ARE ALL-ENCOMPASSING:

"WHOM SHE WILL SHE GREATLY AIDS AND ADVANCES: SHE SITS BY WORSHIPFUL KINGS IN JUDGEMENT, AND IN THE ASSEMBLY WHOM HER WILL IS DISTINGUISHED AMONG THE PEOPLE. AND WHEN MEN ARM THEMSELVES FOR THE BATTLE THAT DESTROYS MEN, THEN THE GODDESS IS AT HAND TO GIVE VICTORY AND GRANT GLORY READILY TO WHOM SHE WILL. GOOD IS SHE ALSO WHEN MEN CONTEND AT THE GAMES, FOR THERE TOO THE GODDESS IS WITH THEM AND PROFITS THEM: AND HE WHO BY MIGHT AND STRENGTH GETS THE VICTORY WINS THE RICH PRIZE EASILY WITH JOY, AND BRINGS GLORY TO HIS PARENTS. AND SHE IS GOOD TO STAND BY HORSEMEN, WHOM SHE WILL: AND TO THOSE WHOSE BUSINESS IS IN THE GREY DISCOMFORTABLE SEA, AND WHO PRAY TO HECATE AND THE LOUD-CRASHING EARTH-SHAKER, EASILY THE GLORIOUS GODDESS GIVES GREAT CATCH, AND EASILY SHE TAKES IT AWAY AS SOON AS SEEN, IF SO SHE WILL. SHE IS GOOD IN THE BYRE WITH HERMES TO INCREASE THE STOCK. THE DROVES OF KINE AND WIDE HERDS OF GOATS AND FLOCKS OF FLEECY SHEEP, IF SHE WILL, SHE INCREASES FROM A FEW, OR MAKES MANY TO BE LESS". "

"FOR TO THIS DAY, WHENEVER ANY ONE OF MEN ON EARTH OFFERS RICH SACRIFICES AND PRAYS FOR FAVOUR ACCORDING TO CUSTOM, HE CALLS UPON HECATE. GREAT HONOUR COMES FULL EASILY TO HIM WHOSE PRAYERS THE GODDESS RECEIVES FAVOURABLY, AND SHE BESTOWS WEALTH UPON HIM; FOR THE POWER SURELY IS WITH HER". "

Anti Nazis Riot In Los Angeles

Anti Nazis Riot In Los Angeles
White supremacist rally ends with five arrests and two assaults, police say

A white supremacist rally on the lawn of Los Angeles City Hall ended with a handful of arrests Saturday afternoon as counter-protesters showered police and white supremacists with rocks, bottles and other debris.

[Update, 4:50 p.m.: All five people arrested were counter-protesters, police say.] A rally by 40 members of a group calling itself the National Socialist Movement drew hundreds of counter-protesters from throughout the region.

In the hours leading up to the rally, where members called for the removal of all nonwhites from America's southwest, counter-protesters scuffled with people perceived to be sympathizing with the white supremacists' message.

One man, who sported Nazi tattoos, was severely beaten near City Hall while another man, who carried a confusing sign about religion with a scribbled swastika, was pummeled by a mob of people on Spring Street between 1st and 2nd.

The Los Angeles Police Department went on tactical alert during the event and took responsibility for escorting the white supremacists to and from the demonstration site.

Earlier in the week the group had obtained a permit for the demonstration.

Making Things Up For Easter

Making Things Up For Easter
I think Hnaef may have missed the point on this one.

I'm sure that Mouse is right, and the link of Easter to the alleged goddess Eostre is a pile of foetid dingo's kidneys. Frankly, it's just as likely that it was named after Estragon from "Waiting for Godot". This is the way that back-creation of religious explanations tends to work. Let me give you an example. And remember this is just a bit of fun - no Celts were decapitated in the production of this blog post.

There is a real tradition that people roll oranges (or at least did when I was young) down Dunstable Downs on Good Friday. A steepish, concave slope called Pascombe Pit, to be precise, that haven for young courting Dunstablians.

People notice that Pasc- as a prefix is a bit like Pasch-. So there you go, there's the rock-solid religious connection (and it" is" combe-shaped, since you mention it). And the oranges are clearly the stone that was rolled away from the Tomb.

Except, that's clearly just a Christianisation of a pagan ritual. But of course, oranges are - as the name suggest - orange. So clearly they represent the sun. Pascombe Pit orange-rolling was therefore a place where you rolled oranges downhill to represent the sun er... getting stronger in the summer. And Dunstable Downs faces West, and that's the way the sun sets. And so the oranges are rightly going "down" in a westerly direction. It's all coming together.

Until you remember that the orange hasn't been in these isles "that long "and was probably unknown in prehistory. So any claims of a long tradition are in a bit of a state.

But then you remember that there used to be a gallows on top of Dunstable Downs. And there are Five Knolls (actually, there's "seven" barrows, but that's another story) and Elizabeth Pratt was arrested on the Five Knolls and charged with witchcraft and died in Bedford Jail (at the same time that John Bunyan was in there, although there's no evidence she influenced "Pilgrim's Progress"). So there's a death link, and there's a witchcraft link.

So clearly in the old days they didn't used to roll oranges down Pascombe Pit. No, they rolled the "heads" down. After all, to Celts the head was the source of the soul, and heads would roll quite nicely. So the Celts would decapitate their victims at the top of the hill - probably criminals, because let's face it those Celts were basically nice, decent types. Probably be keen on a game of cricket if they were around these days. Probably better at cricket than England, at any rate. So they'd execute their criminals, unless there was a real criminal shortage. Then they'd roll the heads down the hill, as a sacrifice to the setting Sun. Goodness knows what they did with the rest of their victims, unless there was a kebab van up at the picnic site in ancient times.

And Vitamin C, like religion, is good for the soul. Which is why in more modern times they used oranges. Although last time I heard, even using oranges was banned for Health 'n' Safety reasons, so goodness knows what Central Beds Council would make of using heads. Unless you could persuade them it was a genuinely neo-pagan ritual, in which case they might give you a grant.

And that's how you get from an innocent Eastertide tradition to a story of decapitation and sun-worship. I'm sure we all feel better for that.

And, if nothing else, I'm getting a worried feeling about why that orange I rolled down Pascombe Pit when I was a child felt so "heavy".

Alchemical Furnace Of Sagittarius Transforms Into

Alchemical Furnace Of Sagittarius Transforms Into The Ice Of Capricorn
December 1, 2008: Two stories today really echo the changing of the guard as evidenced by Pluto in Capricorn

Its official: US has been in a recession all year: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

Good bye irrational exuberance and the unbridled optimism of Pluto in Sagittarius as The NBER - a private, nonprofit research organization - said its group of academic economists who determine business cycles met and decided that the U.S. recession began last December.

The second story which finally hit the centrist media today December 1st after an early AM positive Venus-Jupiter conjunction in chilly Capricorn has been talked about by Alex Jones and others like Jim Marrs for years. Like a block of cold ice in a blizzard, this news revelation wasn't needed to restore faith in a flailing American government: Washington Post: 20,000 More U.S. Troops To Be Deployed For "Domestic Security"

The increasing militarization of America is part of a long term agenda to abolish Constitutional rule and establish a "military form of government," following a large scale terror attack or similar disaster, as Tommy Franks, the former commander of the military's Central Command, alluded to in a November 2003 Cigar Aficionado piece.

Mars and Sun TSQ Uranus-Saturn an Explosive Trigger

After November's total mandate for change symbolized by the signature aspect of the year Saturn Opposing Uranus on election day November 4th, many much more can happen in December? By the time the fiery Sagittarius New Moon on Thanksgiving November 27th brought some relief and hope, Pluto had entered a new cycle with an ingress into Saturn ruled Capricorn. Pluto represents power and Capricorn the government, the establishment and together they determine major restructuring. Today on December 1st extremist news broke big time in the centrist Washington Post that the U.S. military expects to have 20,000 uniformed troops inside the United States by 2011 trained to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear terrorist attack or other domestic catastrophe. This looks like some major change since the Posse Comitatus Act, a 130-year-old federal law restricting the military's role in domestic law enforcement is now about to be abolished. Looks like we have to look toward Uranus the shock which r moved went direct at 8:08 AM PST on November 27th shortly before the Sagiitarius lunation. The powder keg exploded first with the Mumbai attacks stretched an already thin veneer of peace between India-Pakistan towards a possible full scale confrontation. The November 27th lunation with Mercury-Sun-Moon and Mars in the sign of the archer brought did bring some temporary optimism but the building TSQ to Saturn-Uranus on the Dec. 12th Full Moon. is translating the light from the November 4th opposition. Sun-Mars coming together in Sagittarius (Dec. 5th) is creating a hot aspect that stimulates aggression and bold action on on December 5th the same day. Mercury Squares Uranus and with Mercury (Sag) in 90 degree angle, communications are interrupted and subject to breakdown. Transportation matters are unstable. Shocking news, attacks on authority figures, controversy abounds. To top all this off earthquakes will be grinding the seismic plates all month.

Mars leads the assault on the US Sibley Foundation Chart

One of the primary aspects of the US foundation chart set for July 4, 1776 in Philadelphia at 5:10 PM is the close Mars in Gemini SQ Neptune in Virgo. In our nation's chart this aspect involves a fantasy love-hate relationship between the US military (Mars in Gemini) and our ideals of service orientation (Neptune-Virgo). This is the core aspect of American empire. The Full Cold Moon; or the Full Long Nights Moon of December 12th challenges this long standing relationship not only with the annual Moon in Gemini at 21 degrees right on the Sibley Mars the incredibly powerful TSQ which now involves a Grand Cross of which I referred to in the paragraph above. Notice how the biwheel chart above has Sun-Moon Opposing and SQ Saturn-Uranus at all the angles of the Full Moon set for December 12th. This Grand Mutable Cross no doubt will set in motion some revolutionary changes in the thinking and hearts of many Americans about the inviolate nature of their heroic military establishment. With Pisces rising on 12-12-08 it will be the rulers Neptune and Jupiter which will keep things more confused yet diffused.

All those winter signs from Mars-Sun in Sagittarius to a new transit of Mercury into Capricorn to join Pluto for some extreme mental orientation along with Juno-Jupiter also in Capricorn to keep relationships restrained both politically and socially. Yet Venus-N Node, Chiron, Neptune all in Aquarius will be crossing the US democratically oriented Moon @ 27 Aquarius (Sabian: a tree felled and sawed) is that George Washington's cherry tree? By the Inauguration on January 20th a revolutionary spirit will be sweeping the land. By the time Osama is sworn in, Jupiter will have gone into Aquairus and Mercury due to retrograde will spend longer time in Aquarius and Capricorn before joining the collective energy of N Node, Chiron and Neptune.

Emotional And Spiritual Healing Happens When

Emotional And Spiritual Healing Happens When We Are Open
There is the belief that wisdom and understanding comes to us when we are ready to accept it. Even though it may have been presented many times before, we are blinded to it by our own issues and challenges. However, when we have reached the point of personal growth or have hit bottom, we are open to change, then we will receive the messages we need to heal old wounds or achieve a new understanding.

My last epiphany came while watching Days of Our Lives. It was after the death of one of the characters that I saw one of my stumbling blocks through out life. On the show, the family came together in mutual support and comfort. No one person was singled out to receive all the attention nor was one person the caretaker for the rest of the family. They reached out to each other with unconditional love and support. Their grief pulled them together making each member stronger and helping each of them heal.

While I watched the characters on the screen, I flashed back to when my mother died. Her death was sudden and unexpected. Although we hadn't been close in a long time, we had just started to rebuild a relationship. The car accident ended that healing process. Driving back to my hometown, I tried to sort out what I felt. In fact, there was so much I felt nothing. The next three days were filled with questions, arrangements and confusion. My father's reaction was typical of his past behavior. It was like he found a new sense of power. Growing up his alcoholic actions kept the household in chaos. My three brothers and myself never knew what or when, just that it was coming. The household had to be all about him. My mother's death was no different. Not once did he attempt to comfort us. When we reached out of to each other, he again brought the attention back to himself. He needed to be the center of attention. It was his loss. He's grief. She was his wife, but she was also our mother. It would have been different if their relationship had been based on love and respect. Instead, she was his caretaker, not a love mate. We were My mother's sisters and their families were more concern about who was now going to take care of the ailing matriarch of the family. Even though Mom had two sisters, she was their mother's sole caregiver. Her sisters always seemed to be too involved with their own lives to help very often. It was only when Mom insisted that they found the time. Now that she was dead, they were trying to decide who was going to be stuck with her. I watched them plan and cry, yet I wasn't part of it. I was separate and alone. It's hard to break down when everyone else is already in emotional pieces; someone has to hold it together long enough to find the glue. I cooked food, made coffee, comforted others-all the things I should do, yet I couldn't feel my own grief. It was locked away behind the closet with all the other feelings that I couldn't or wouldn't acknowledge.

As I sat on my couch years later, those scenes in a soap opera gave me a point of clarity. Looking back, those four days were a microcosm of what my life had been. There were those who received support and those who gave it. Rarely were the roles ever exchanged. Two incidents came to mind. I was upset over something; my father mocked me for being a crybaby. Another time, I had headphones on and was enjoying music; he ridiculed me for smiling. In the big picture, neither were earth shattering or life threatening, but they were soul and behavior altering. I learned support came with a price if it came at all and that letting others see your soft under belly made you vulnerable. However, if you held back and became a support system, you would be needed therefore you would be safe. I became a cheerleader for others. Freely giving aid, yet afraid to complete the cycle and allow others to help me. I found it easy to share to share my blessing and the good things in my life, but when I was hurt or sad, I either put it away behind the locked door of the closet or hide away to comfort myself. To the outside world, I showed the positive, happy me, while the closet became fuller.

In looking back and then forward, I realized that as adult we give to others what we wanted as children and didn't receive. Growing up support and encouragement didn't exist for me. I never learned how to receive without feeling that it came with a price. Life is not a tit for tat. But a share experience that needs to be in balance for it to be healthy. All the times, I thought I was being generous, the reality was that I was being selfish. I shared my things, my resources and what I have learned, but never me. I didn't have the courage let others know the whole of me-the good, bad and the ugly. There had been glimpses when I became so over whelmed I could no longer hide it. But I would have rather ate ground glass than to show others they had hurt my feelings. The simple fact was that I didn't trust that I would be caught if I let myself fall; after all I was all I was always the one with the glue.

For me the change came after a sexual assault that filled the closet to over flowing. There was no longer any room left for me to hide away emotional stuff I didn't want to deal with. I had an emotional break down that nearly lead to suicide. I had a choice to make-the razor blade or dealing with old shit. Once the door came off, there was no going back and I was finally ready to emotionally hear the message. There has been and will continue to be tears. There will be anger. There will be regret and all the other emotions I never allowed myself to feel. However, there will also be healing and a new beginning as I do my best to let others help me without feeling shame or fear.Theresa Chaze has been described as the woman who plays with dragons, especially the dragons of the mind. She leads her readers to magical realms and others worlds. Her work is based on her philosophy that all peoples can live together in peace as long as we come from respect, not only for ourselves but those who follow different paths or beliefs. Her work has been compared to Marion Zimmer Bradley and Anne McCaffrey with an adult version of Harry Potter mixed in.

Judith Kusel Cosmic Law 4 The Law Of Attraction March 9 2014
"THE INNER ATTRACTS THE OUTER. LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE. "

If something in your outer world is not what you want it to be, look inside and shift how you feel about yourself or about that which you are not happy with. You will then automatically attract different people and experiences to you.

In essence at soul level we are pure energy and we all emit a certain frequency band and vibration. When we are truly cosmically tuned in then we will vibrate at the optimum frequency band of our soul. We will thus then attract those of our own soul group to us who also vibrate at that same optimum frequency band. Not only will those of our own soul group be attracted to you, but those who vibrate at the same frequency band.

It takes a while to start understanding, that when we allow other souls who are of a LOWER vibrational frequency or one those jams our frequency bands, that either they will make our frequency bands go haywire, with immense disruptions and disturbances and turbulence arising, or they will not be repelled at some stage.

When we see lack in any form, we have to understand that lack is only what we perceive deep inside of us. What is lacking deep inside? It is faith in yourself and your own ability? Is it lack of faith in the Divine to supply all your needs? Is it lack of shifting our awareness, of doing the inner work, to that our perceptions change and we get crystal clear about what we are not seeing or being or manifesting inside?

A lot of us had past lives as nuns, or monks, or part of organizations or religions where we were told that begging bowls would buy us our spirituality, or that is would buy us salvation. Some forsook all their material goods, in order to join religious cults etc. In this lifetime these souls will attract poverty consciousness to themselves, because the vows they took in those lifetimes, are still haunting them today. Until those vows of Poverty, Obedience, Chastity, etc. have been released, your inner self will reject all of that to come into your life in some form.

You can look at you yourself subconsciously broadcasting to the entire world out there what is inside of you. Like: "I hate myself. I am unworthy. I am ugly. I am stupid." Guess what? You will attract those people into your life that will treat you like you treat yourself inside. Until you change your inner belief system, you will keep attracting that which you believe. If you believe that you are undeserving of good in your life that is what you will attract.

A very simple awareness of your inner talk - of self talk, will alert you to all of this. If you start monitoring your thoughts and feelings, and then just stop yourself in the middle of thinking negative thoughts and simply asking: "Is this the truth and the only truth?" will immediately stop that negative pattern from forming again.

This is one of the reasons that we can never skimp the inner housekeeping and clearing. Sometimes people think that they are so highly and lofty up the ascension ladder that this is not needed. Guess what, they will self sabotage themselves at some stage or another until this the simple housekeeping is adhered to every single day. Sometimes we hear what other people say and then start owning it - if this is negative we start believing this in fact quicker than if it is positive. That is the ego. The negative ego will always try to keep you small.

When the inner housekeeping is done, then our thinking patterns start changing, and our creativeness soars. We start believing in our own worthiness, our loving being, and we will start attracting likeminded souls to us, who see that in us and validate it.

When we love ourselves, we attract loving soul into our lives.

When we believe that we deserve abundance and start blessing money, and the energy of money, then we start attracting more money into our lives and abundance.

"Think of yourself as a living magnet that magnetized all into your outer life what is INSIDE of you!"

"Do not send out negative energy and wait for a disaster to be magnetized towards you. Send out positive light and wait for a miracle to be drawn towards you."

What is it that you wish to attract more of into your life? Change your inner thinking, believing and viewing and you will magnetize that into your life.

If you wish to have that ultimate lover in your life, then love that inner you in such a way as you would like your ultimate lover to you love you. Be the best you can possible be, and then you will attract the best man there is to you, who matches you perfectly.

When you become aware of this wonderful law, our whole inner life starts changing, for we finally start realizing that we have to do the INNER work, before the outer life can manifest.
