5 Things Love Isn't

5 Things Love Isnt
"PERHAPS THERE IS NOTHING THE HUMAN HEART CRAVES MORE THAN TRUE LOVE. WE ARE WIRED TO LOVE AND BE LOVED. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE DON'T ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT LOVE REALLY IS. WE GET ALL KINDS OF DEFINITIONS FROM THE CULTURE AND FROM OUR OWN FEELINGS."

"IN FACT, I THINK IT'S HELPFUL TO THINK A LITTLE BIT, NOT ABOUT WHAT LOVE IS BUT WHAT LOVE ISN'T. SO HERE ARE FIVE THINGS LOVE ISN'T:"

"1) LOVE ISN'T HAVING SOMEONE FULFILL ALL MY FANCIFUL DREAMS"

"WHEN WE THINK ABOUT THE LOVE BETWEEN A HUSBAND AND WIFE, WE OFTEN THINK OF THAT "SOULMATE", THAT PERSON WHO JUST MAGICALLY FITS INTO ALL THE AREAS I NEED AND WILL MAKE MY LIFE BETTER. THESE EXPECTATIONS, WHICH WE CARRY INTO MARRIAGE, DO MORE TO DERAIL RELATIONSHIPS THAN ANYTHING ELSE.BUT THIS IS REALLY HUMANISTIC THINKING. IT VIEWS THE OTHER PERSON AS A BENEFACTOR THAT MUST MEET ALL OF MY NEEDS. BUT GOD DIDN'T PURPOSE MARRIAGE FOR MY OWN FULFILLMENT, BUT AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ME TO A) DISPLAY HIS GLORY B) GROW IN CHARACTER AND GRACE BY ADJUSTING, SACRIFICING, AND LOVING ANOTHER AND C) FULFILL THE MANDATE BY ESTABLISHING ANOTHER GENERATION OF GODLY OFFSPRING. AND HERE'S A SECRET OF MARRIAGE THAT I'M STILL FIGURING OUT AFTER TEN YEARS: MY DREAMS ARE PETTY COMPARED TO GOD'S DREAMS FOR ME. WHEN I HOLD THEM LOOSELY AND ALLOW GOD TO SHAPE THEM (BY GIVING ME A SPOUSE WHO BUMPS UP AGAINST MY DESIRES), I DISCOVER A JOY AND FULFILLMENT I WOULD NOT HAVE FOUND ON MY OWN."

"2) LOVE ISN'T LOVING THE PERSON I EXPECT SOMEONE TO BE"

"THIS FOLLOWS CLOSELY ON THE LIE OF EXPECTATIONS, THAT I ONLY EXPERIENCE LOVE WHEN SOMEONE IS EVERYTHING I EXPECT THEM TO BE. A WIFE GETS MARRIED, NOT TO A FALLEN SINNER WHO NEEDS GRACE, BUT TO AN IDEA OF WHAT SHE THINKS THIS MAN MIGHT BE TO HER. HE'S THE COMPOSITE OF ALL THE PRINCESS MOVIES, ROMANCE NOVELS, AND STORED UP DREAMS. BUT AFTER THE HONEYMOON IS OVER, SHE MEETS ANOTHER MAN, THE SLOPPY GUY WHO LEAVES HIS UNDERWEAR ON THE FLOOR, STAYS UP TOO LATE PLAYING VIDEO GAMES, AND SOMETIMES BUYS BOATS WITHOUT ASKING HER. A HUSBAND GETS MARRIED TO A PERFECTLY SHAPED BEAUTIFUL GODDESS, WHOSE EVERY WORD IS INSPIRING AND MOTIVATES HIM TO GREATER HEIGHTS, WHO WILL SATISFY HIS BASIC NEEDS IN EVERY WAY. THEN HE GETS HOME FROM THE HONEYMOON AND FINDS ANOTHER WOMAN IN HIS HOME. THIS GIRL HAS OCCASIONAL MOOD SWINGS, YELLS AT HIM FOR THE SMALLEST THINGS LIKE LEAVING HIS UNDERWEAR ON THE FLOOR, AND SHE OFTEN BURNS THE MEATLOAF. SO THEN THE HUSBAND AND THE WIFE HAVE A CHOICE. THEY CAN MANIPULATE THEIR MATES INTO BEING WHAT THEY NEED THEM TO BE, SPARK A LOT OF USELESS ARGUMENTS AND FRICTION, AND ULTIMATELY CHOOSE DIVORCE. OR, THEY CAN CONFESS THEIR IDOLATRY, REALIZE THEIR OWN BROKENESS, AND RECOGNIZE THAT LOVE IS ABOUT LOVING ALL THE PARTS OF THOSE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO LOVE, EVEN THE AREAS WE REALLY DON'T LIKE. IT'S LOVING ON THOSE DAYS WHEN YOU DON'T WANT TO AND LOVING THE PERSON YOU SEE BEFORE YOU, NOT THE PERSON WHO WISH OR HOPE THEY CAN BE."

"3) LOVE ISN'T ALWAYS SAYING NICE, BUT MEANINGLESS THINGS, TO EACH OTHER."

"LOVE IS ACTION AS WE'VE SAID. LOVE IS A COMMITTMENT. WHICH MEANS SOMETIMES WE MUST SPEAK THE TRUTH IN LOVE. THIS IS NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH TEARING DOWN, HURTING, DESTROYING SOMEONE'S SOUL FOR THE SAKE OF OUR OWN SELFISH GRATIFICATION (SEE 1 AND 2 ABOVE). THIS IS THE LOVE THAT HAS THE COURAGE TO TELL SOMEONE WHEN THEY ARE SERIOUSLY GOING DOWN A WRONG PATH. THE IS THE KIND OF LOVE JESUS DEMONSTRATED WITH HIS DISCIPLES, WHEN HE REPEATEDLY CORRECTED THEIR WRONG IDEAS. WE HAVE THIS IDEA OF LOVE THAT IT OVERLOOKS SIN AND THAT JUST SORT OF WINKS AT POOR LIFE CHOICES. AHH, BUT LOVE IS NOT THIS WAY. IF YOU TRULY LOVE SOMEONE, ESPECIALLY SOMEONE YOU ARE MARRIED TO YOUR CALLED TO CARE FOR, YOU WILL GENTLY, IN THE RIGHT TIMING, POWERED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD, COMMUNICATE THE LOVING TRUTH. AND YOU WILL RECEIVE CORRECTION AS AN ACT OF LOVE FROM ANOTHER. IN MARRIAGE THIS MEANS YOU SOMETIMES HEAR THE HARD, BUT TRUE WORDS OF A SPOUSE AND TAKE THEM AS GOD'S LOVING ACT OF DISCIPLINE ON YOUR SOUL, SHAPING YOU INTO THE CHARACTER OF CHRIST. I WILL TELL YOU THAT THIS IS NEVER MY FIRST RESPONSE TO REBUKE FROM ANGELA. BUT IT SHOULD BE. AND OFTEN LATER THE SPIRIT WHISPERS TO MY SOUL, "YOU KNOW, SHE'S RIGHT AND IF SHE DIDN'T LOVE YOU, SHE WOULDN'T HAVE SAID WHAT SHE SAID." THEN I HAVE TO GO BACK TO HER AND SAY, "I'M SORRY. YOU'RE RIGHT. FORGIVE ME. I'LL WORK ON THAT." I HAVE TO SAY THAT AFTER TEN YEARS, THE PERSON I CREDIT WITH MOST OF MY SPIRITUAL GROWTH IS MY WIFE. MARRIAGE CAN AND SHOULD BE A DISCIPLESHIP RELATIONSHIP, PROVIDED BOTH ARE COMMITTED TO FOLLOWING CHRIST. AS ONE OF MY FAVORITE AUTHORS, GARY THOMAS, SAYS,"GOD'S DESIRE IN MARRIAGE ISN'T TO MAKE US HAPPY, BUT TO MAKE US HOLY."

"4) LOVE ISN'T CONDITIONAL ON GOOD TIMES"

"BAD TIMES ACTUALLY TEST YOUR LOVE, ESPECIALLY IN MARRIAGE. THEY REVEAL OUR HIDDEN IDOLS. SO, FOR INSTANCE, WHEN MONEY GETS TIGHT, THIS IS USUALLY A TRIGGER FOR AN EPIC ARGUMENT. IT'S EASY TO BLAME THE OTHER PERSON. IF SHE DIDN'T SPEND ALL THAT MONEY ON SHOES, WE'D BE ABLE TO PAY THE ELECTRIC BILL. OR IF HE HAD A BETTER-PAYING JOB, WE WOULDN'T BE IN THIS MESS. OR IF ONLY HE'D STEP UP AND DO THE BUDGET, IT WOULDN'T BE SO HARD ON ME. OR, IF SHE WOULD JUST BE HAPPY WITH WHAT WE HAVE. OR PERHAPS ITS TROUBLE WITH A CHILD. AGAIN, WE BLAME: IF HE'D GET OFF THE IPHONE AND PAY ATTENTION, OUR KID WOULDN'T ACT OUT SO MUCH. OR IF SHE'D JUST LOOSEN UP, MAYBE THE KID WOULD RESPOND BETTER. OR, IF HE'D GET HOME AT A DECENT HOUR. OR IF SHE'D STOP WORRYING SO MUCH ABOUT THE HOUSE."

"YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS. HARD TIMES BRING ALL OF OUR HIDDEN ANXIETIES AND INSECURITIES TO THE SURFACE. THE IDOLATRY OF FINANCIAL SECURITY. TO BE FINANCIALLY SECURE IS A GOOD AND WORTHY AND BIBLICAL GOAL. BUT HARD TIMES COME AND THREATEN THAT. SO IF FINANCIAL SECURITY IS YOUR IDOL, WHEN IT'S RIPPED AWAY, YOU'LL KICK AND SCREAM AND DO DAMAGE TO YOUR RELATIONSHIP. THE IDOLATRY OF A WELL-ADJUSTED FAMILY. AGAIN, WELL-BEHAVING KIDS IN A SAFE, HARMONIOUS HOUSE IS A GOOD AND WORTHY AND BIBLICAL GOAL. BUT IT'S A POOR IDOL. AND WHEN THIS IS RIPPED AWAY FOR A SEASON, IF THIS IS THE ALTAR AT WHICH WE WORSHIP, WE'LL KICK, SCREAM, AND DO DAMAGE TO OUR RELATIONSHIPS."

"THE POINT OF ALL THIS IS THIS: WE THINK LOVE WOULD FLOURISH IF ONLY OUR CIRCUMSTANCES WERE BETTER. IF WE HAD A BIT MORE MONEY, IF THE KIDS WOULDN'T MISBEHAVE SO MUCH. BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT REAL LOVE, LASTING, DEEP, ABIDING LOVE GROWS DURING TIMES OF DURESS. BUT THIS ONLY HAPPENS IF YOU PUT CHRIST AT YOUR CENTER AND GIVE UP ON THE SMALL, PETTY DREAMS AND REALIZE GOD IS ACTIVE IN THE MIDST OF YOUR HARDSHIP, TO BRING ABOUT HIS GLORY. TRIALS CAN BE A CATALYST FOR DEEPER MARITAL LOVE. THEY HAVE FOR ANGELA AND I. WE WOULDN'T WANT TO REPEAT ANY OF THE TERRIBLE THINGS WE'VE FACED, BUT WE CAN BOTH LOOK BACK AND SAY THIS CEMENTED OUR LOVE AND COMMITMENT TO EACH OTHER."

"5) LOVE ISN'T FOUND ELSEWHERE"

"WHEN YOU'RE IN A BAD SEASON OF MARRIAGE, BROUGHT ON BY STRIFE, DIFFICULTY, TRAGEDY, IT'S TEMPING TO THINK YOU'D BE HAPPIER ELSEWHERE. BUT REAL LOVE IS ONLY FOUND IN RENEWING YOUR COMMITMENT TO EACH OTHER IN MARRIAGE. LOVE SAYS, "I'M HERE FOR THE DURATION. I'M COMMITTED. I'M GOING NO WHERE ELSE." LOVE IS ACTUALLY LIVING OUT WHAT WE STOOD AND SAID ON OUR WEDDING DAY: "IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH, FOR RICHER OR FOR POORER, FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE, AS LONG AS WE BOTH SHALL LIVE." LOVE IS NOT SAYING, "AS LONG AS HE HAS A JOB. AS LONG AS WE HAVE A HOUSE. AS LONG AS SHE OUR KIDS OUR HEALTHY. AS LONG AS SHE DOESN'T GET SICK."

"AND HERE'S THE SECRET: WHEN YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY, 100% COMMITTED TO EACH OTHER, IT MAKES IT EASIER TO WORK OUT YOUR DIFFERENCES. WHY? BECAUSE YOU'RE FORCED TO. YOU'VE GOT NO OTHER OPTION. AND SO EACH OF YOU MUST GIVE, BEND, SACRIFICE. YOU MUST COMMIT TO GROW, CHANGE, AND SERVE. NOW, TO BE CLEAR: YOUR WILLPOWER AND COMMITMENT TO STAY ALONE WON'T GIVE YOU A GREAT MARRIAGE. YOU NEED GOSPEL OF CHRIST WHICH INITIATES THE CYCLE OF CONFESSION, REPENTANCE, AND FORGIVENESS. BUT I WOULD ARGUE THAT THE GOSPEL IS THE VERY CATALYST THAT KEEPS YOU COMMITTED, BECAUSE YOU REALIZE YOU ARE IN MARRIAGE FOR WAY MORE THAN YOUR OWN EXPECTATIONS AND SELF-FULFILLMENT."

War And The Devil

War And The Devil
*

Last Sunday was the English Remembrance Day, dating from the 1914-18 Great War.

As we reached the end of a sermon on war, and the fact that God was present always despite the horror of war, I was aware that while everything which had been said was true, it felt incomplete.

What was missing was the devil.

*

I don't really see how a Christian can properly address the topic of war without reference to Satan.

Without that reference we have - on the one hand, the sinfulness of men and on the other the Goodness of God - but what when the sinfulness of men becomes organized, purposive, when torments are not 'merely' a by product of military necessity but are planned and delighted in, relished?

A particular horror of war is the excuse and opportunity it gives for this kind of strategic sin that delights in inflicting atrocity.

This is, of course, the hallmark of the demonic in its extreme form - and ought to be labelled as such.

*

One reason why Christians should strive not to be worldly, is that in this world Satan is greatly powerful. The same delight in torture, the delight in the act of torture, is evident in at an everyday level in malicious gossip (i.e. 99 percent of discourse in the public arena), and in "Schadenfreude "- pleasure in the misfortune of others: a species of that most odious vice ENVY; and an almost ubiquitous and indeed socially-sanctioned sin from which few are immune and of which many openly boast.

*

Not the least evil of Leftism is that it puts envy at the core of politics; celebrates and institutionalizes envy, spite, delight in the misfortune of enemies; builds a vast edifice of policy and sanctions on envy.

The Left just is "a coalition of envy".

*

When when it comes to war, Christians need to be aware that leaving-out the devil makes them sound unreal.

Ultimate eternal victory of God is assured; but meanwhile we are here on earth under the dominion of darkness; and we would not be thinking about war if that fact did not affect us.

The world, the flesh "and "the devil.

Spirit Guides Do You Have One

Spirit Guides Do You Have One

By Keith Ward

Spirit guides are disembodied entities who move between the spirit and the material world in order to provide guidance or counseling to a living person, usually someone who possesses the ability to communicate in some way with the spirit world already. However, some believe that each of us has a spirit guide and only those who have this ability to communicate with spirits can recognize their presence.

Generally, spirit guides are special in other ways. Most believe these guides are the souls of people who have been reincarnated sufficiently to be released from the cycle. Because of their experiences and knowledge gained from these reincarnations, they are able to share with the living a greater wisdom.

How Do You Know if You Have a Spirit Guide?

Obviously, if you have ever been able to communicate with a spirit who claims to be your guide then this is powerful evidence that you have one. Communication can come in a number of forms. Some people claim to have seen their spirit guides manifested in the flesh.

Other methods of communication include astral projection. In this method, you actually leave your body and are able to travel in a different plain of reality. While in this state, you can make contact with your spirit guide. Visualisation and meditation can sometimes also open the doors of communication between the two worlds.

In many cases, you may never have a direct encounter with your spirit guide. However, that doesn't mean you do not have a guide. Many people simply sense the presence of these guides in their lives.

How Will Spirit Guides Counsel Me?

If you are able to communicate at will with your spirit guide through meditation or astral projection, for example, then you can seek them out when you have questions.

Another common way of communication is through dreams. Have you ever faced a difficult situation or a dilemma only to wake up the next day feeling confident that you have found a solution? If you have then that may have been your spirit guide communicating with you through your dreams.

Sometimes you will simply sense the urging from your spirit guide to take one action over another. For example, if you are trying to make an important decision, you may feel yourself leaning towards one side or another automatically without giving it any thought. That initial reaction could be traced back to guidance from your spiritual companion.

Are Spirit Guides Always Human?

Native Americans for centuries have believed in animal spirit guides. In fact, this belief is an intricate part of shamanistic teachings. For them, the animal spirits guides are sources of wisdom. For example, the crow is viewed as an intermediary between the world of the living and of the dead because they believe it carries the souls to the other world. They possess wisdom about ancestors and about living without fear of the unknown.

While these beliefs are very strong among many people today, most individuals who have described their spirit guides see them in human form.

Adventures At Paganicon 2012

Adventures At Paganicon 2012

ALL SNAKES DAY

Paganicon occurred over the weekend, and I fully attended and engaged in the various planned and unplanned activities. Overall, I would say that this pagan convention has turned out to be quite good. There were 50% more people attending this year than the previous year, and folks from as far away as Indiana and Winnipeg, Canada, attended. I also made some new friends, restored connections with some old friends, and basically had a good time. The weather over the weekend was quite warm for this time of year, and I am sure that some new record highs have been registered. Last year it was pretty cold outside with many traces of winter still visible, yet this year there was no indication that winter was even active. Gone was the snow and ice, and the temperatures were in the high 70's, which is very strange for the Twin Cities in mid March.

My two back to back classes on the Qabalah were initially fairly well attended. I expected a maximum of 15 attendees, and that's how many showed up. However, after the first hour, all of those attendees except two departed to attend other classes, and most of them went to see Christopher Penczak's class on Ascension Magick. I can't blame them for departing, of course, and I quickly discovered that I had far more material to present than I had time to present it. Each section took longer to complete than I had anticipated, so what I was able to present to the attendees was a partial introduction instead of the whole thing. Also, considering that most of the people left after the first hour was up meant that there wasn't enough ground covered to really segue into the next section. So the remaining two attendees and I engaged in conversations about some of the rest of the material, and I answered a number of questions.

This was the first time that I had attempted to present these two classes, and considering that they will be incorporated into an 18 hour three day intensive, I am not too worried about re-sizing them or scaling them down. Instead, I will seek to break them into sections and expand them so they will be fully vested with all of the information that I would want to present in a much larger format. So, I was satisfied with the overall results of the two presentations, and I did learn something about how much time I will need if and when I present the full weekend intensive. Some of my attendees gave me good feedback and told me that they are looking forward to the new book that I will be publishing via Llewellyn in March of 2013.

Christopher Penczak was the main speaker for Paganicon, and I must admit that I was completely unfamiliar with any of his writings. I've seen his What Christopher has done was to pull in sources of occult and spiritual lore that I wouldn't have chosen, being either unfamiliar with them or at least felt that they wouldn't work together. These disparate sources include Reiki, Theosophy, the Alice A. Bailey teachings, other various New Age sources (Ascension), as well as pagan Druidism, ceremonial magick and the Qabalah. At first glance, these very difficult occult systems might seem to be contradictory and incapable of being blended or merged together, but Christopher has managed to artfully merge them together as if they were meant to be worked as one overall system. I found his way of moving seamlessly from one system to another without any jarring contradictions to be quire remarkable. Still, from my own experienced standpoint, I wouldn't employ very many New Age systems in my own revised and developed tradition simply because I would find such a syncretism to be inelegant and esthetically unappealing. That's just my personal opinion and tastes in occultism, and they in no way negate what Christopher has accomplished. In his thoroughness, he has given birth to a comprehensive system of spirituality and magick, and all of it is based on a foundation of witchcraft. I found that to be both attractive and compelling, and I saw that others who were attending his lectures and rituals found it attractive as well.

The Three Rays of Witchcraft are, of course, based on the first three Rays of the Seven Ray system of Theosophy and the Bailey teachings (being the Red, Blue and Yellow Rays). Christopher merged the concept of these three rays with the traditional witchcraft (Clan of Tubal Cain) concepts of the three paths of the straight, the bent and the crooked, which he had perceived through a three-fold ray vision, where the three rays emerge from a common point or source. This theme is well established in Christopher's book, Three Rays of Witchcraft, which you can find here. However, one point that he made in his talk that I found very illuminating is where he discussed the origins of his vision, and that it represented how many seekers have approached a more comprehensive practice of witchcraft - or for that manner, any system of occultism.

According the Christopher, most practitioners are inveterate eclectic collectors of many diverse and often different and divergent techniques, philosophies and ritual lore. He compared it to a totemic magpie collecting shiny bits that it steals while it browses around for food and novelty items. These attractive baubles end up in the magpie's nest, and after a time, the nest is full of completely un Often this process of making a unified system out of a lot of disparate parts is to first begin to order them in some manner, perhaps to extend the analogy of the magpie, this act of creating order would be to formulate a collage or a mosaic out of these various seemingly un I found this obvious biographical trope about how Christopher himself was able to merge several unrelated occult systems together into a unified system (the Temple of Witchcraft) useful in my own discussion of the importance of using a kind of meta-system to order and organize the various collected systems and methodologies of the practicing occultist, and that this action of ordering will have a profound effect on the seeker. It was true with me, and it was also true for Christopher Penczak, so in a sense, our approach to crafting a unified system are very similar. In some ways, his story corroborates my own, and it lends greater power to the idea that working with the symbols of the Qabalah as if they were dynamically alive is the key to making it truly a powerful system of occultism. Without this approach, the Qabalah is nothing more than a glyph and a bunch of tabular lists, along with some very arcane lore about creation, cosmology and the final dissolution. Making it come alive is the whole key to empowering oneself and being able to use the Qabalah as a metaphysical system in the study and practice of magick.

Saturday night was the "All Snakes Day Ball," which was a costumed ball. Since I had too little sleep the night before, and I had to help out with the security for an hour, I missed some of this soiree, but what I did see was quite amazing. The cash bar was a bit steep in price and the selection of available drinks limited, but overall, the ball room was well decorated and well attended. I ducked out a bit after 10 pm and went back to my room to crash, but the dance continued until midnight.

Sunday is when I took part in a panel that discussed the organization and presentation of the four public Sabbat events that had been held in 2011 under the aegis of NordCog, a local pagan organization (Northern Dawn and Covenant of the Goddess). On the panel were three of the presenters, the artistic director (Paul) and the presiding leader (Steve). The panel turned out quite excellent, and that was the end of my involvement in the Paganicon pageantry. I did attend a really good class on Helenic Polytheism put on by Cara Schultz, which was scheduled before my panel. Cara focused on the rites and practices that would have been performed in the home during a typical lunar month, and how those beliefs and practices are deployed in the modern Greek pagan household. The class was short, succinct and highly informative. I thought that Cara did an excellent job of presenting her beliefs and practices.

So I gathering my things, made some final shopping transactions, and drove home from the convention, quite satisfied with the whole event. The temperature was almost 80 degrees outside, so I had the window down while I was driving. I got home tired and sweaty, and was amazed at the very weird weather that we were having for a mid March day. If there were any doubts about the impact of climate change, then perhaps how this winter has turned out should allay any doubts whatsoever.

Needless to say, I think that Paganicon was a tremendous success, and it will be interesting to see if it is sustainable. I am already thinking about next year's convention, when I will have a new book out in print, and be focusing on marketing myself as a knowledgeable Qabalist.

DAILY SHRIMAD BHAGWAT KATHA BYPUJYA GURU MAA ROKMANI JIIN OLD RAJENDRA NAGAR, NEW DELHI WWW.SHANIDEV.US

Shrimad Bhagwatam is the most sacred books of the Hindus. It gives a tremendous insight, a profound vision, and an entirely new perspective to the person who hears the narrative. On hearing, a person is never the same. There is a complete metamorphosis, a complete transformation, literally a new birth. Atman (soul) by it's own nature is sovereign - it cannot by nature be bound - whatever bondages felt are sheer illusions of the mind. Shrimad Bhagwatam provides that light which enables Jeeva (human being) to experience the wonderful freedom of liberation. One feels, "Yes, I am free! SHRIMAD BHAGWATAM" expresses this philosophy through the narration of the life stories of 24 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Amongst these, the tenth volume of the Shrimad Bhagwatam narrates in infinite detail, the story of Lord Krishna. Since all 24 incarnations are of Lord Vishnu, it is a vitally important scripture for the Vaishnavas.

Written by Sage Ved Vyasa the Bhagwatam leaves no topic untouched - social, political, and economic systems - all these have been covered and commented upon by him. Not just issues relating to self-liberation but even our day-to-day problems have been effectively resolved in Shrimad Bhagwatam. Hence it can be emphatically stated that Shrimad Bhagwatam is an exposition, which explains human life very clearly, it is a direction leading to the ultimate liberation of the soul. It is therefore an important guide for the conduct of human beings in all their affairs.

Ordinarily, reading and listening to "SHRIMAD BHAGWAT KATHA IS A 7 DAYS LONG ANUSHTHAN" (a religious commitment), but even an entire lifetime may not be enough to understand it in depth and explain it to others. It is such a wonderful, sublime scripture but King Parikshit had only seven days to live and it is said that by listening to such a 7 days narration of Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, King Parikshit attained liberation! Not by death but by emancipation from ignorance and fear. Thus Shrimad Bhagwatam liberates us from fear, problems, and ignorance. In essence, this is the crux of Shrimad Bhagwatam. Content wise, it comprises three main dialogues or principal conversations - one that of Shukadevji and King Parikshit, second between Sutji and Shaunak and other Rishis at Naimisharanya and the third between Vidurji and Maitreya on the banks of the river Ganga. These three principal conversations convey the voluminous Shrimad Bhagwatam beginning and ending with the dialogue between Sutji and Shaunakji and other Sages.

KRISHNA PRONUNCIATION (HELP.INFO) (SANSKRIT: IN IAST, PRONOUNCED LITERALLY "BLACK, DARK BLUE") IS A HINDU DEITY, ONE OF THE "AVATARS" (OR "INCARNATION") OF LORD VISHNU. ACCORDING TO BHAGAVATA PURANA, LORD KRISHNA IS TERMED AS SVAYAM BHAGAVAN OR THE SUPREME LORD HIMSELF SINCE HE WAS THE PURNA-AVATARA OR FULL INCARNATION OF SUPREME LORD VISHNU OR NARAYANA.

LORD KRISHNA IS OFTEN DESCRIBED AND PORTRAYED AS AN INFANT OR YOUNG BOY PLAYING A FLUTEAS IN THE BHAGAVATA PURANA, OR AS A YOUTHFUL PRINCE GIVING DIRECTION AND GUIDANCE AS IN THE BHAGAVAD GITA. THE STORIES OF KRISHNA APPEAR ACROSS A BROAD SPECTRUM OFHINDU PHILOSOPHICAL AND THEOLOGICAL TRADITIONS. THEY PORTRAY HIM IN VARIOUS PERSPECTIVES: A GOD-CHILD, A PRANKSTER, A MODEL LOVER, A DIVINE HERO AND THE SUPREME BEING. THE PRINCIPAL SCRIPTURES DISCUSSING KRISHNA'S STORY ARE THE MAHABHARATA, THEHARIVAMSA, THE BHAGAVATA PURANA, THE BRAHMA VAIVARTA PURANA AND THE VISHNU PURANA.

WORSHIP OF A DEITY OF KRISHNA, EITHER IN THE FORM OF VASUDEVA, BALA KRISHNA OR GOPALA, CAN BE TRACED TO AS EARLY AS 4TH CENTURY BC. WORSHIP OF KRISHNA AS SVAYAM BHAGAVAN, OR THE SUPREME BEING, KNOWN AS KRISHNAISM, AROSE IN THE MIDDLE AGES IN THE CONTEXT OF THE BHAKTI MOVEMENT. FROM THE 10TH CENTURY AD, KRISHNA BECAME A FAVOURITE SUBJECT IN PERFORMING ARTS AND REGIONAL TRADITIONS OF DEVOTION DEVELOPED FOR FORMS OF KRISHNA SUCH AS JAGANNATHA IN ORISSA, VITHOBA IN MAHARASHTRA AND SHRINATHJIIN RAJASTHAN. SINCE THE 1960S THE WORSHIP OF KRISHNA HAS ALSO SPREAD IN THE WEST, LARGELY DUE TO THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS.

Some Food For Thought For Christians

Some Food For Thought For Christians On Earth Day 2013

Posted by Christine Pack and Marcia Montenegro

Today, in case it had somehow slipped by you, is Earth Day. I began receiving notifications that it would soon be Earth Day about two weeks ago. In my email inbox this morning, I received "Happy Earth Day" messages from a t-shirt company, Aveda, a homeschooling organization, Williams Sonoma, Lindt Chocolates, and many others. But how should Christians think about Earth Day? And what, if anything, should be our response?

Let me first note that, when I was a New Ager, we were ALL about Creation worship, sometimes called Gaia worship. And please note the capitalized "C" of "Creation worship;" we sincerely thought creation was imbued with divinity. I didn't know it at the time, of course, but I was a direct fulfillment of Romans 1:25, which states that "THEY EXCHANGED THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD FOR A LIE, AND WORSHIPED AND SERVED CREATED THINGS RATHER THAN THE CREATOR...". But I can honestly say that never in my wildest dreams, as a practicing New Ager, could I have imagined that one day the earth worship we had in our little fringe group would spread to the rest of the world and even into Christianity. And yet, I've seen Green Bibles, Green Bible Studies, Green Christian websites, etc.

"THEN I SAW A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH, FOR THE FIRST HEAVEN AND THE FIRST EARTH HAD PASSED AWAY, AND THE SEA WAS NO MORE." REV 21:1"Now, it's not wrong, of course, to take care of the creation, but we must not give it more value than God has ascribed to it. God has told us in his Word that one day He will create a new heavens and a new earth. This means that this earth is of finite, limited use, and will one day be gone. And again, I'm not saying we should trash the earth: we are told in the Bible to be good stewards of it. But we must not revere it, and "Green" anything that I see inside Christianity literally makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up because there is a very fine line indeed between being a good steward of the earth in a biblical, balanced way, as opposed to letting your everyday decisions be framed by the environmental agenda. But to my dismay, I now recognize that this movement is so completely mainstreamed, that it often "does" frame our thinking in many of our decisions, from what car we will drive (electric vs. gas-powered), what paper products we will buy (recycled paper products vs. regular paper products) what items we will purchase (those produced by sustainable organizations vs. those not), etc., etc., with some kind of inherent moral virtue often implied in the purchasing of the "green" products.

Sadly, there are many Christians who are innocent to the agenda of the environmental movement. So as a former proponent of the Environmental Movement, I just want to sound a note of caution for Christians to perhaps be careful about what messages they might be unconsciously taking in, and to even be aware of the idea that there might be an agenda of some kind attached to a group that on the surface might look wholesome and beneficial. I also think Christians should be careful about which organizations they donate to, and to do their due diligence. Take for instance the organization Evangelical Environmental Network, which was founded by three pastors. That doesn't sound sinister, does it? But please look at this quote from their website, found by my friend and fellow researcher, Marcia Montenegro:

WE URGE INDIVIDUAL CHRISTIANS AND CHURCHES TO BE CENTERS OF CREATION'S CARE AND RENEWAL, BOTH DELIGHTING IN CREATION AS GOD'S GIFT, AND ENJOYING IT AS GOD'S PROVISION, IN WAYS WHICH SUSTAIN AND HEAL THE DAMAGED FABRIC OF THE CREATION WHICH GOD HAS ENTRUSTED TO US. WE RECALL JESUS' WORDS THAT OUR LIVES DO NOT CONSIST IN THE ABUNDANCE OF OUR POSSESSIONS, AND THEREFORE WE URGE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS TO RESIST THE ALLURE OF WASTEFULNESS AND OVERCONSUMPTION BY MAKING PERSONAL LIFESTYLE CHOICES THAT EXPRESS HUMILITY, FORBEARANCE, SELF RESTRAINT AND FRUGALITY. WE CALL ON ALL CHRISTIANS TO WORK FOR GODLY, JUST, AND SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIES WHICH REFLECT GOD'S SOVEREIGN ECONOMY AND ENABLE MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN TO FLOURISH ALONG WITH ALL THE DIVERSITY OF CREATION. WE RECOGNIZE THAT POVERTY FORCES PEOPLE TO DEGRADE CREATION IN ORDER TO SURVIVE; THEREFORE WE SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF JUST, FREE ECONOMIES WHICH EMPOWER THE POOR AND CREATE ABUNDANCE WITHOUT DIMINISHING CREATION'S BOUNTY. (ONLINE SOURCE)ALL RIGHT, THAT RIGHT THERE IS WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD. IT SOUNDS SO GOOD ON PAPER...AS SO MANY THEORIES AND IDEAS DO, BUT TRY LIVING THAT OUT. MANY PARTS OF THIS COUNTRY HAVE BEEN HIT HARD BY THE RECESSION WE'RE IN, AND LET'S SAY A CHRISTIAN MAN, WANTING TO MAKE GODLY CHOICES AND WALK RIGHTEOUSLY BEFORE HIS LORD READ THE ABOVE CALL-TO-ACTION TO ONLY work at corporations that are sustainable, green, etc., and so he made the decision to do that because he felt it would be sinning otherwise. Should he starve to death, and let his family starve to death, if he couldn't find a suitably green company to work for?

As noted by Christian researcher Marcia Montenegro, this kind of thinking is "a type of legalism and judgment according to man's standards, and not God's. God tells the head of the family to provide for his family or he is acting worse than an unbeliever ('"BUT IF ANY PROVIDE NOT FOR HIS OWN, AND SPECIALLY FOR THOSE OF HIS OWN HOUSE, HE HATH DENIED THE FAITH, AND IS WORSE THAN AN INFIDEL.' 1 TIM 5:8" - this goes for single mothers, too). That is God's mandate and that overrides working only for 'green' companies."

So as far as how Christians should think about and respond to, Earth Day, I think it's pretty straightforward: we should be guided by Scripture, not worldly wisdom about what products to buy or what company to work in. And as far as "evangelical environmentalists," how should we respond to them or think about them? For myself, I have certain criteria that I often hold in my mind when visiting the website of any kind of organization pertaining to be Christian. It goes something like this: What should I see when I visit a website that claims the name of Christ (such as the environmental site linked above)? Should I see Jesus Christ, the God-man, who came and fulfilled God's laws perfectly, and who died for sins, and was raised triumphantly from the grave to reign and rule over all the earth? Should I see Him exalted, magnified and glorified? Or should I see a rather worldly message, designed at piggybacking onto whatever trend is currently captivating people? Well, it's kind of a no-brainer, isn't it?

"FOR I RESOLVED TO KNOW NOTHING WHILE I WAS WITH YOU EXCEPT JESUS CHRIST AND HIM CRUCIFIED."1 COR 2:2"

Mormonism Poised Between Incredibilities

Mormonism Poised Between Incredibilities
*

Incredible: 1b - Hard to believe. "New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary"

**

It strikes me that Mormonism is an incredible religion, in the two-sided sense that it both hard to believe and hard "not" to believe!

I realize that to most non-Mormons this is untrue - in the sense that they find Mormonism one-sidedly hard to believe and easy to disbelieve - hard to accept and extremely easy to dismiss.

But, when not due to sheer ignorance, that attitude is often due to them being blinded by negative prejudice; because there are remarkable facts about Mormonism which it is hard to believe are not due to its being true.

There are at least four two-sidedly incredible aspects of Mormonism - that is they are both hard to believe, and hard not to believe.

*

1. Joseph Smith.

On the one hand, it is hard to believe that such an ordinary and flawed person as Joseph Smith should have been a prophet of God; on the other hand it is hard to believe that anybody except a prophet of God could have done what he did.

2. The book of Mormon

On the one hand, the convoluted story of how the book of Mormon came to be written is bizarre, unprecedented - in a word incredible; on the other hand, it is very hard to believe that a book of such length, quality, complexity could have been dictated verbatim and unrevised in extremely difficult conditions and in just a few months.

3. The organization of the LDS church

On the one hand, the piecemeal emergence of the Mormon church, the adoption of elements from various traditions, the revisions and corrections of doctrine and so on - all seem like "ad hoc" improvisations and strain credibility; on the other hand, the results were incredible: a church which commanded great strength and devoutness and expanded exponentially for 180 years and successfully scaled up from a few hundreds to many millions.

4. Mormon theology

Contradicts so much of the theology of the historical Christian church, and so profoundly, that it is very hard to believe that almost all Christians could have been so wrong about so many things for such a long time; on the other hand, the Mormon theology is so simple, systematic and also Biblically coherent that it is incredible that Christians could have failed to discover it for so many centuries.

**

I could go on - but I hope the point has been made that "if Mormonism is given its due"," then incredibilities abound, and are rather exactly poised!

It is incredible that something as incredible as Mormonism could be true: it is also incredible that something as coherent, as long-term successful, and as good as Mormonism could be false.

Holy Martyr Mamas As A Model For Our Lives

Holy Martyr Mamas As A Model For Our Lives
Holy Great Martyr Mamas (Feast Day - September 2)

By Protopresbyter Fr. George Papavarnavas

Saint Mamas is depicted in Orthodox iconography as a horseman on a lion, and this is because he had friendly relations with animals, even the so-called wild ones. In the Orthodox Church this fact is not paradoxical, since we encounter it in the lives of many Saints. They were not tamers of wild beasts, as we see in the circus, but they calmed animals with the purity of their hearts, with simplicity and with authentic love. The Grace of the Holy Spirit flooded their existence and it made wild beasts calm and servile.

When he was young Mamas drank milk from a doe. Saint Gregory the Theologian says that each doe ran to catch up with the other in order to be the first to breastfeed the Saint. This took place because he was orphaned as a child. His parents were made worthy to shed their blood for the glory of Christ and the child grew up with an adoptive mother, Ammian, who he would call "Mama", which is why he was named "Mamas". From a young age he appeared to walk in the footsteps of his martyred parents. He had the same life as theirs and was made worthy of the same blessed end.

Whoever has purified their hearts with prayer, asceticism and the sacramental life, are proved worthy of the great gift of the Holy Spirit. They have arrived at a pre-fallen state, acquiring a living communion with the Triune God. In Paradise the First-created had love between them, together with the irrational animals, the trees, the birds, and even the wild beasts, who sat near them as calm lambs. That which disturbed and disturbs the relation of man with the rational as well as irrational creation is sin, which has social implications. Sin is a sickness. Anyone who lives in sin without seeking to get rid of it, together with the various passions that it creates, is a sick person. And sick people are those who sicken social institutions, and social institutions, in turn, sicken people more. The treatment of this sickness occurs with repentance and asceticism, with the attempt for one to live the commandments of Christ, to be purified of the passions and become a person. To experience inner freedom and true love which, according to Saint Maximus the Confessor, is the "seed of passionlessness", and this leads to personal communion with the personal God of the Church, together with a proper communion with our fellow man, as well as all of creation.

The Saints have a soft heart, love nature, and are pained when they see it destroyed, but they do not absolutize it, idolize it or worship it. They are not nature-worshipers, but are worshipers of the Triune God and love everything that He created. They rejoice over and love creation, because within it they see the logoi of being. Every creature of God has the uncreated energy of its Creator. The irrational worship of nature on the one side, and its destruction on the other, are unnatural situations, over both of which prevail selfishness and self-interest. The former protects creation not for the glory of God and out of selfless love, but out of selfishness and individualism, in order to use all of its good things and pass well with it. But in the latter, it has an interest above all to destroy nature with tragic consequences for humanity. Greed creates overconsumption, and this in turn results in hurried overproduction which destroys nature, which then "avenges humans". But in reality, man is the one who destroys himself.

I read at the beginning of last month, in an Athenian daily newspaper, that somewhere between Athens and Lamia there is a pet cemetery. Indeed, for argument's sake, they even published a photograph. They wrote that funerals for animals take place, and a lot of money is spent on their graves, some of which are quite luxurious. On these are written the names of the animals and various verses which reveal a sort of worship of them. The absence of God from a persons life leads to such extreme and unbalanced situations.

Saint Mamas, like all the Saints, was a true man and balanced. He worshiped the Creator of creation and loved and respected His creations, within which was His uncreated energies.

Finally we would like to mention that Saint Gregory the Theologian calls him not only a martyr, but a shepherd, although he had not received the sacramental priesthood. This is because the Saints are true shepherds of the people, who lead them to a correct and balanced life and ultimately to salvation.

"Shepherd thy people in life-giving pastures with the staff given thee by God. And crush the invisible enemies beneath the feet of those who praise thee. For all in danger have thee as a fervent intercessor, O holy Mamas." (Kontakion in the Third Tone)

Leaders Continue To Search For Unity

Leaders Continue To Search For Unity

From The Catholic Leader-

Pope Francis has had his first meeting with the spiritual leader of the Anglican Communion Archbishop Justin Welby of Canterbury, and CINDY WOODEN, of Catholic News Service in Rome, reports that they spoke of the differences that divide as well as the common goal for full unity.

POPE Francis and spiritual leader of the Anglican Communion Archbishop Justin Welby of Canterbury pledged to support each other with their prayers and to continue the search for full unity between their communities.

Meeting at the Vatican on June 14, praying together in the Redemptoris Mater Chapel in the Apostolic Palace and eating lunch together in the papal residence, both remarked on the fact that Pope Francis' inaugural Mass was celebrated on March 19 and Archbishop Welby's installation was on March 21.

Copal Oro Granular Incense

Copal Oro Granular Incense
Bureseru microphylla, better known as the "elephant tree," is the source of Copal oro pieces. copal oro pieces are not an herb, but rather a type of resin derived from the sap of this tree, which is native to the desert regions Northern Mexico and the Southwestern U.S.

In the language of the Nahuatl Indians, the word kopali means "incense." Copal oro pieces were indeed used in the religious rites of Mexico's indigenous peoples, including the Mayans, the Mexica, the Aztecs and more. Shamans burned dried copal oro pieces just as if they were dried herbs, and then inhaled the smoke in order to commune with their gods.

copoal oro pieces are not necessarily like herbs that are taken internally. Traditionally, copal oro pieces were used in folk dentistry for filling cavities. It is also used as a medicinal herb by the Guarani Indians of Brazil.

When burned outdoors, whole copal oro pieces give off a resinous smell that is pleasant to humans, but repellent to insect pests, and is therefore an environmentally-friendly alternative to chemical bug sprays or potentially irritating (even if organic) herbs like citronella. Sliced copal oro pieces can be melted down and used as a non-toxic adhesive for broken pottery as well.

Supernatural Power Of A Renewed Mind

Text3Understandingisanexperience

Understanding is an Experience

Romans 12, Mt. 6 thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven - that's God's Will (felt, seen, entered into)

Our privilege is to manifest the will of God. Cooperation, thru repentence (changing my world view, seeing from His view), to live from His point of view. Co-labor with God. God's intention is to equip us (Holy Spirit) to demonstrate the reality of heaven here on earth - this is the backbone of our commission. It's a privilege. HS lives within (spiritual beings having a temporary human experience). Soul - mind, will, emotions. Carnal christianity is when a believer leans to their own understanding, feelings. Mind is a better receiver than a giver; better student than teacher; follower than leader. Mind is suppose to be in position to receive impressions from the Lord, that as it filters thru human personality, it takes on a Christ-like expression, to transform the world around us. God is out to capture our minds; it's not a useless tool; powerful tool. Wants sanctified minds (blank canvas).

Four kinds of soil Matthew 13:11 because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven. Mystery cannot be discovered; must be revealed. Conceals truth (like gold in rock). Those with yielded hearts discover. God wants a global takeover. There are concepts in education, art, music, govt, etc., that have never been tapped into - to be accessed by people who are yielded to HS, so He can take and put them in a creative place such as your mind. Mysteries the world has never seen or heard. Proverbs: Without a vision (prophetic revelation) the people perish (or go unrestrained; will not restrict themselves to accomplish purpose). Revelation knowledge releases us in faith (establishing the boundries of faith; setting the parameters that faith is to functions in; without knowledge faith is restricted by our misconceptions). God is declaring the world you get to express faith in. Glorious things are to be accessed (revelation) never seen or heard before. WE are to live in the realm of continuous input by the revelations of God. Faith sees above the natural. Goes against the natural course of nature. Seeing above circumstances. Passion to move against the course of nature. Tap into the realms of God never dreamed of before (unknown realms never tapped into before, in whatever field of endevour you're in).

13:19 (two parts) anyone hears the word of the kingdom - the Seed (word) is the living seed of another world; a seed is a realm of possibility (potential)

1) Word of the kingdom comes as the seed of another world! This seed is to take over the world we live in. The kingdom of Heaven is within - the realm of dominion is an inside job. Satisfaction comes from obeying; seeing the real thing; faithful to what He gave me. Privilege of bringing this other world into play; shaping the history of people around us. Bringing the king's dominion (deliverance) into people's torment, pain, etc. I cannot do it unless I live in the victory myself; reality of my surrender, practical living under the imprint of God - that's the measure I get to release His dominion (kingdom lives within us).
2) Living organism (seed of another world) that ignites affection from your heart for His world. CS Lewis said something like, we have desires for things that this world can never satisfy us here. This isn't home.

Wayside - person hears word but doesn't understand - enemy has access to that seed. God spoke things into being; word is most powerful thing. The word of God can be, thru delegated authority (us), cancelled out, shut down, by our hearts (lack of understanding). I perceive it's hot outside (but I'm not out there), when I go outside, I know it's hot. I'm going to bring my perception together with the reality of the heat. The word understand means an experience. We draw conclusions erroneously thru reasoning, cognitive, etc. True understanding is experience. God's realm is the supernatural. Western rational view restricts things to what we can comprehend and explain (proof?). But it's a violation of the learning process set forth in Scripture. Question and 2 statements: Coffee does not grow in cold climate. England has cold climate. Does coffee grow in England? (Elderly Chinese answered, I don't know, I've never been to England).

We have a hard time to yield to something we cannot see, impressions of the heart; realm of faith is superior to the intellect. Worlds were made out of nothing (out of faith we understand). By faith we understand. We do not have faith because we understand (just belief), we understand because we have faith. Faith is not an intellectual matter. Co-mingling with the Holy Spirit. Understanding means BRING TOGETHER. Translation - learning that takes place thru the five senses - practical human experience. When the Word comes, if it's not brought into practical human experience, the enemy will have open access to that seed. (that seed has the power to transform, bring the life-form of another world to a new creation; we are a new race of people, holy people). Expressions and releases of dominion, until the dominions of this world become the dominion of our God. Learning thru practical human experience.

Revelation is meant to bring me into a God encounter, and if it doesn't, it serves to make only more religious. John 5, scripture points to Me (Jesus). Revelation is not to make us smart, but to launch us into transformation; God encounters that change us (motivates us to DO SOMETHING). For example, I hear a word that inspires me to help the poor, but in the next several weeks I never do something to actually help them, then that word is open to be taken away by the enemy (not taken from my mind; amen next time I hear it, these people need to hear that - locked into a form without power; without a true experience - I'm not an example of the word preached, but I sure agree with it). People will fight to defend divine healing, but they never see it happen. They have not been irritated enough by their lack of experience to fast and cry out to God until they have personal breakthrough.

I understand the concept, and if it's God's will, he knows my address, He can give me that grace, but there is just special individuals that He uses. We perpetuate this deception that there are two classes within the church of those who are really gifted and then us. Many have concepts in the head that insult them from the conviction that any more needs to happen. All their learning is intellectual. When we allow our lives to robbed of experience, we are deadened to personal transformation, and left with reciting facts and concepts - heart and soul of religion - form without power. Lord brings us Word, seed of another world - planting it in us, a new race of people. He gives the SAME Authority and Power with a choice, if we do not act, that which has unlimited power, will be taken out of it's place (enemy steals away).

vs 20 stony places (no root); when tribulation or persecution arises, he stumbles. Stones are the unresolved issues (stumble is vs 23 good ground - he understands it, produces fruit, 30,60, 100 times. Colossians 2 & 3 let no one judge you about food, drink, holidays - why do you subject yourself to regulations? Appearance of wisdom, and self-denial, but of no value. Seek the things above, not the things on earth. Christians were getting caught by shifting the emphasis from the internal things to external. You might be a redneck if... you might be a Pharisee if: your emphasis is on the external and not the internal. (Guy took his anointed music to a gay/lesbian bar; awwwww, the religious say - you defiled your gift where?) We think evil is stronger than godliness; you get contaminated by external associations. The primary lesson of the OT law was the power of sin. If you touch a leper I am unclean, dead body, unclean.

NT is about the power of grace, forgiveness - now when touch the leper he's clean, touch the dead he is raised. Christian that live like the world, but won't associated with them, because they don't want to get contaminated. Pharisaical heart - elevates the value of the externals, did you hear where they went, that activity; judgment based on external things. It started with Jesus was a glutton and winebibber - because he hung around them - associations (externals). The proof of a true transformation of the heart and mind is a shift in my entire value system - not my judgment of another person but allowing Jesus to minister thru me. Is Jesus able to express His dominion in me, so that He can express it thru me? Am I surrendered enough to express His dominion. I study to be transformed, not teach you. Study to learn how to do this stuff, then I try to share with you what I see and experience. Set your mind on heavenly things, not earth. What world are you experiencing, that movtivates your life. You will release the dominion of the world you're living in.

Mt. 6 In the natural there are some beans that are high in protein, but the body cannot extract it, only part. Truth has nutrients, and the full impact of a truth is experienced only thru radical obedience; not casually entered into. You can casually extract certain amount of life and nutrients from things you hear and learn, and associations, but to get the full impact of revelation, it must be followed by radical obedience. That's what extracts the power of that word. vs. 19 Jesus talking about our treasures in heaven. Lay up treasures in heaven - deliberate acts that I can take, when the power will be released in my life, where I experience personal transformation because I responded to opportunity.

Radical step of obedience, power is released and I experience transformation as defined by the word that was given. We can own stuff, just don't be owned by anything. When a man gains wealth, did God gain a fortune or lose a man? Lay up treasure in heaven - living for the unseen. Make decisions today that will affect the outcome when we die. I am going to do an action today, that will affect eternity, because a word has been given me. Where your treasure there your heart will be. If you invest in what you cannot see, God will change the condition of your heart where that becomes home. If you want to live from heaven toward earth, you have to sow into what you cannot see.

Not trying to get God to invade a situation, but from His perspective we minister in authority towards the issues and problems of life. How to minister from heaven towards earth? You make decisions that show you're making heaven your treasure, and then your heart will be there. When your heart is from there, you can minister from there to the issues of man. Renewal of the mind; transformation. We'll challenge death, sickness, etc. Goliath's will be targets; not letting the world build up the giants. These giants must fall. How dare you defy the armies of the Living God. David ran towards the giant. Powerless people build up the giants. Live in the realm of divine possibility; I have a seed from another world, represent another world, I'm an ambassador, I don't live for this place, I live towards another, because I'm here on divine assignment I have all of heaven behind me, that I might be one, with a word and an action, shapes history. That's who I am! The power is in the here and now.

The things that use to cause us to cower and hide under the shade tree, wishing some great man of faith would come to town and take care of the beast, there are us, rising saying how dare that beast taunt the living God. I don't know a lot, but I'm on the side of the Lord, and I'm going after this rascal. That's transformed thinking. It's not mind over matter, or a self discipline thing only, it's a transformation because of the God given grace for a change in world view. Persist in the shift. Internal over externals; invisible over the visible. You gain by giving; you live by dying; you rise by bowing low. Miracles will transform our reality, but we have to learn from them. Or continue to re-learn the lessons. Issues need to be settled. Ending prayer: Outward sign of inward surrender, put your hand on your own head :) Invade our dream life; teach us Your Ways. May we constantly live under the influence of your Presence.

Highlights:

Revelation is meant to bring me into a God encounter, and if it doesn't, it serves to make only more religious.

Heart and soul of religion - form without power (no experience)

We think evil is stronger than godliness; you get contaminated by external associations (looking at externals instead of the power of the internal).

Is Jesus able to express His dominion in me, so that He can express it thru me?
We can own stuff, just don't be owned by anything. When a man gains wealth, did God gain a fortune or lose a man?

Internal over externals; invisible over the visible. You gain by giving; you live by dying; you rise by bowing low.

Magic An Exhibition Of Amulets And Talismans

Magic An Exhibition Of Amulets And Talismans
If you happen to find yourself in London between now and February 26th of next year, here's an interesting exhibition that's going on at the Wellcome Collection. It's called "Miracles and Charms" and includes various amulets and talismans collected around a century ago.

Once carried around in the pockets of Londoners, the 400 quirky objects were amassed about a century ago by an Edwardian banker and amateur folklorist, who collected curious objects from sailors, costermongers (fruit sellers), and "mudlarks", children who once scavenged along the muddy banks of the River Thames.

"The objects themselves look ordinary but are actually extraordinary when you look at them carefully. They are a slice of life and there is something wonderful about them," head of public programmes at the Wellcome Collection, Ken Arnold, said.

I wish I could make it there myself, as I would enjoy having an opportunity to check and see how much magick is still present in the various objects after so many years. I've often wondered how much difference various materials make in terms of how long such a charm will last, and a collection like this provides a decent sample set.

In addition to four-leaf clovers and horseshoes for luck, the collection includes some more peculiar charms, inspired by folklore, ancient belief systems and a fear of witchcraft.

Mole feet would prevent cramps, a shrunken sheep's heart pierced with nails would protect cattle from witchcraft, and delicately carved hands from coral and shell were believed to avert the gaze of the evil eye.

The other question, of course, is the degree to which these objects work as advertised. Living traditions generally do a fairly good job of passing on effective lore, but at the same time a little scientific investigation couldn't hurt.

Mitos Y Leyendas De Egipto

Mitos Y Leyendas De Egipto
