Aia Maninam Aia 2 Suns Filmed Over The Usa
Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught. But those things which proceed out of the mouth came forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

These are the things which defile a man; but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man. How fortunate are the poor; they have God's kingdom. How fortunate the hungry; they will be fed. How fortunate are those who are crying; they will laugh I am telling you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

If someone slaps you on the cheek, offer your other cheek as well. If anyone grabs your coat, let him have your shirt as well. Give to anyone who asks, and if someone takes away your belongings, do not ask to have them back. As you want people to treat you, do the same to them. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?

Even tax collectors love those who love them, do they not? And if you embrace only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Doesn't everybody do that? If you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even wrongdoers lend to their kind because they expect to be repaid.

Instead, love your enemies, do good, and lend without expecting anything in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of God. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good; he sends rain on the just and on the unjust Don't judge and you won't be judged. For the standard you use (in judging) will be the standard used against you.

Can the blind lead the blind? Won't they both fall into a pit? A student is not better than his teacher. It is enough for a student to be like his teacher. How can you look for the splinter in your brother's eye and not notice the stick in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the splinter in your eye', when you do not see the stick in your own eye?

You hypocrite, first take the stick from your own eye, and then you can see to remove the splinter that is in your brother's eye. A good tree does not bear rotten fruit; a rotten tree does not bear good fruit. Are figs gathered form thorns, or grapes from thistles? Every tree is known by its fruit. The good man produces good things from his store of goods and treasures; and the evil man evil things.

For the mouth speaks from a full heart. Why do you call me, 'Master, master', and not do what I say? Everyone who hears my words and does them is like a man who built a house on rock. The rain fell, a torrent broke against the house, and it did not fall, for it had a rock foundation. But everyone who hears my words and does not do them is like a man who built a house on sand.

The rain came, the torrent broke against it, and it collapsed. The ruin of that house was great. When someone said to him, 'I will follow you wherever you go,' Jesus answered, 'Foxes have dens, and birds of the sky have nests, but the son of man has nowhere to lay his head.' When another said, 'Let me first go and bury my father,' Jesus said, 'Leave the dead to bury their dead.

'Yet another said, 'I will follow you, sir, but first let me say goodbye to my family.' Jesus said to him, 'No one who puts his hand to the plow and then looks back is fit for the kingdom of God'. Sell your possessions and give to charity (alms). Store up treasure for yourselves in a heavenly account, where moths and rust do not consume, and where thieves cannot break in and steal.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will also be. Seek after the treasure which does not perish, which endures in the place where no moth comes near to devour, and no worm ravages. Someone from the crowd said to him, 'Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.' But he said to him, 'Sir, who made me your judge or lawyer?

' He told them a parable, saying, 'The land of a rich man produced in abundance, and he thought to himself, "What should I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?" Then he said, "I will do this. I will pull down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul you have ample goods stored for many years.

Take it easy. Eat, drink, and be merry.
" But God said to him, "Foolish man? This very night you will have to give back your soul, and the things you produced, whose will they be?" That is what happens to the one who stores up treasure for himself and is not rich in the sight of God'. Go. Look, I send you out as lambs among wolves.

Do not carry money, or bag, or sandals, or staff; and do not greet anyone on the road. Whatever house you enter, say, 'Peace be to this house!' And if a child of peace is there, your greeting will be received. But if not, let your peace return to you. And stay in the same house, eating and drinking whatever they provide, for the worker deserves his wages.

Do not go from house to house. And if you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. Pay attention to the sick and say to them, 'God's kingdom has come near to you.' But if you enter a town and they do not receive you, as you leave, shake the dust from your feet and say, 'Nevertheless, be sure of this, the realm of God has come to you'.

I am telling you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Think of the ravens. They do not plant, harvest, or store grain in barns, and God feeds them. Aren't you worth more than the birds? Which of you can add a single day to your life by worrying?

And why do you worry about clothing? Think of the way lilies grow. They do not work or spin. But even Solomon in all his splendor was not as magnificent. If God puts beautiful clothes on the grass that is in the field today and tomorrow is thrown into a furnace, won't he put clothes on you, faint hearts?

So don't worry, thinking, 'What will we eat?', or 'What will we drink?', or 'What will we wear?' For everybody in the whole world does that, and your father knows that you need these things. Instead, make sure of his rule over you, and all these things will be yours as well. He who wishes to follow me must know himself and bear my yoke.

Jesus said: He who would know everything, but fails to know himself misses the knowledge of everything. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel basket, but on a lampstand. And those in the house see the light. The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is good your whole body will be full of light.

But if it is bad your whole body will be full of darkness. If the light in you is darkness, how great is that darkness. Because of that I say this: Whoever is emptied will be filled with light; but whoever is divided will be filled with darkness. Strive to enter by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will try to enter by it and will not be able.

Once the owner of the house has locked the door, you will stand outside, knock at the door, and say, 'We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.' But he will say to you, 'I do not know where you are from. Get away from me, all you unrighteous people'. No man can serve two masters. Either he hates the one and loves the other, or he is loyal to one and despises the other.

You cannot serve God and wealth (Mammon). Then Jesus was led into the wilderness by the spirit for trial by the accuser. He fasted for forty days and was hungry. The accuser said, 'If you are the son of God, tell this stone to become bread.' But Jesus answered, 'It is written, "No one lives by bread alone.

"
' Then the accuser took him to Jerusalem and placed him at the highest point of the temple and said to him, 'If you are the son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, "He will command his angels to protect you", and "They will carry you with their hands so that your foot will not strike a stone.

"
' But Jesus answered him, 'It is written, "You shall not put the lord your God to the test."' Then the accuser took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor, and he said to him, 'All these I will give you if you will do obeisance and reverence me.' But Jesus answered him, 'It is written, "You shall reverence the lord your God and serve him alone.

"
' Then the accuser left him. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away. For What is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?. Shame on you Pharisees!

For you clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are full of greed and incontinence. Foolish Pharisees! Clean the inside and the outside will also be clean. Shame on you Pharisees! for you love the front seats in the assemblies and greetings in the marketplaces. Shame on you! for you are like graves, outwardly beautiful, but full of pollution inside.

Jesus said, 'Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind recover their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor are given good news'. Jesus said, 'Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind recover their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor are given good news'.

The Kingdom is spread out over the whole world, and people do not see it. Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened. Judas asked, "How does one begin to walk the Way?" Jesus answered, "By developing love and compassion.". The Kingdom is not coming with signs to be observed.

The Kingdom of God is within you. This Way you have found, even the angels do not know it. It comes from the unity of the Father and the Son, for they are One. Travel this path you have found. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things through Him came into being.

In Him was Life, and the Life became the light of men. And the Light appears in the darkness, and the darkness has not apprehended it. Before that which is visible came into being, all existed in Him, He embraces all, nothing embraces Him. I Am the one who is with you always. I am the Father, the Mother, the Son.

I cannot be defiled or corrupted. I have come to teach you those things that are, and those things that will be, so that through this revelation you will perceive the perfection of humanity. Original Man had a single mind within him. Be aware of which is right in front of you; then you will be able to grasp what is out of your sight.

For there is nothing hidden that will not be known. I (Mary Magdalene) saw the Lord in a vision and I said to him, "Lord, I saw you in a vision." He answered me, saying "You are blessed because your vision of Me did not falter. Where the mind is, there is your treasure." I said to Him, "Lord, what allows one to see a vision?

Do we see it with the soul or with the spirit?
" The Lord answered and said to me, "One sees not through the soul or the spirit, but through the Mind-which is between these two." You recognized Spirit and became Spirit. You saw Christ, and you became Christ. You saw the Father and you will become the Father.

And yet, if you do not recognize these things as your Self, you will not become what you see. But if you recognize your Self, that which you see, you will become. There was a man of great wealth who said to himself: "I will fill my storehouses with all my produce, and then I will be secure." This is what man thought, but that very night be died.

Those who have ears to hear, should hear. Sending out his disciples, Jesus said, "Tale no gold, nor silver, nor sopper in your belts, no bag for your journey, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the laborer deserves his food. Do not accumulate earthly possessions, which moths and rust can destroy, and which robbers can steal.

Rather, store up heavenly treasures which cannot be destroyed or stolen. For wherever you heart is, there is your treasure as well. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Truth finds those who are virtuous and wise. Those who are wise are like the fisherman who caught many fish.

He chose the largest fish to keep, and threw the small fish back into the sea. How fortunate is the wise man who seeks after truth. When he finds it, no one can disturb his peace. Understand what is here and now, and you also understand the mysteries. Love your neighbor as yourself. You have heard it said that, "You should love your neighbor and hate your enemy.

" But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for thosewho persecute you, so that you might be children of your Father who is in heaven. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me...

What you did to one of the least of these, my brethren, you did also to me. Love your enemies. Pray for those who persecute you. You will then become children of your Father in heaven. Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. Be careful that your spiritual practice is not public, so that others know that you are spiritual.

When you give to charity, do not announce it like the hypocrites do, so that others may praise them. They already have their reward. Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Do charity in secret, and your Father will reward you in secret. Not everyone who says to me "Lord,Lord" will be saved, but only those who do works of righteousness.

Keep away from those who consider themselves to be learned, and like to parade around in their fine vestments, and who love to be noticed and honored in public - those who take the seats and honor in the synagogues, and at feasts. These hypocrites steal from widows even while they say long prayers. The judgment which comes upon them will be great.

Learn to hate that hypocrisy, which is produced by evil intentions. Hypocrisy never comes close to truth. If you knew of to suffer, you would have the power not to suffer. Know how to suffer, then you will have power not to suffer. Blessed are those who are persecuted; they will rest in the light. I (John) saw his suffering and could not bear it.

I turned away and wept. But the Lord stood before me in a vision of light and said, "John, those below us see me as being crucified, pierced, and given bitterness to drink. But hear me-the one who stands before you- and hear what I say...it was not I who was on the cross. My true being is not the body that surrounds me.

Therefore, I did not suffer, nor was I in anguish at any time. These people did not harm me. Rather, the rulers of the universe destroyed my body, and it is fitting that they should have done so. Be merciful that you may obtain mercy; forgive that you may be forgiven. What you do is what will be done to you.

As you give, so it will be given to you; as you judge, so you will be judged; as you serve, so will service be done to you; with what you measure out, it will be measured out to you in return. Judge not, that you not be judged. For with the judgment you pronounce, you will be judged. Agree with your adversary quickly while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to his officer, and you be cast into prison.

Amen, I say unto you, you will not come forth from there until you have paid the last farthing. The soul will be punished...according to transgressions of which it is guilty...then the Virgin of light will bind that soul and hand it over to one of her judges to have it cast into a body which is appropriate for its crimes.

When what animates a person is removed, that person is called dead, and when what is alive leaves what is dead, that which is alive will be summoned. Do not run from death, but seek it out. For when you look at death closely you will discover within your salvation. For no one who fears death will be saved from it.

Scorn death and take thought of Life! The souls of every human generation will die. When these people, however, have completed the time of the kingdom and the spirit leaves them, their bodies will die but their souls will be alive, and they will be taken up. I have overcome the world. Do not let the world overcome you.

I have become free of the world. You too become free of it. Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. When all the trials of life are ended, and one awakens, he sees nothing like it was before. Such a path is attained by those who have ended ignorance, letting it go as if it was nothing more than a dream.

No longer do they value those things of the material world. They lleave ignorance behind like sleep. Because you have renounced all, and have endured all sufferings, and because of your rebirth from one body to the next, you have become pure light. You will ascend and be king of the kingdom of Light

To Heal The Hurt Leg

To Heal The Hurt Leg
Have you ever heard of how people get poison/venom out of wounds? They *suck* it out. You've kinda gotta do the same sorta thing here. Alongside the treatment that the doctor/physio suggests, at a regular pace (SAY, EVERY OTHER DAY, OR THE SAME DAY EACH WEEK, ETC), you *treat* the patient yourself.

Get them relaxed (AMBIENT MUSIC, CANDLES, INCENSE, WHATEVER DOES IT FOR THEM), and get the wounded bit exposed or with just a thin covering. Without putting any pressure on the wounded bit, put your hands over it (THEY SHOULD JUST FEEL YOUR HAND SLIGHTLY). Then, repeat:

jao, bhoot, jao...

jao, churail, jao...

jao, adum-khor, jao...

jao, rakh-shak, jao...

jao, dhaint, jao...

iss aadmi ko chhorke jao,

Kali-ma ke nam meh,

kabhi vaapus mut ao,

bus, yeh mera kaam heh.

Every now and again, stop the chant and suck the air inwards. Don't breathe the air in, but turn and spit it out. This is like sucking the venom out of the wounded and releasing it out of you.

Buddhist Concept Of Time And Space

Buddhist Concept Of Time And Space
The Buddha discovered reality of time and space more than 2,500 years ago. The Buddha maintained that time does not exist. The past and future are just illusions. When you watch a movie, you see moving pictures. But in fact, you are seeing a succession of still pictures, totalling 24-26 pictures per second. We think that time moves like the flow of water. This is all illusion. We think that we see light from a candle. In fact, the light comes into being and passes out, only to come into being and pass out again. This happens so fast that we see only the light and don't see the darkness after the light passes out.

To be more precise, time exists only in the present. The past can be the future and the future can be the past, depending on relativity. Anybody who has perfected meditation can see the present state clearly and thoroughly, which is the secret of our universe.

If you can build a spaceship that can travel at the speed of light, time will stop. It is impossible to build a physical spaceship to challenge the speed of time, but the Buddha's spirit, which exists in an abstract form, can travel faster than the speed of light. In a second, his mind travels to the edge of the universe, allowing him to see all realms in different dimensions. The Buddha pointed out that there are 31 realms of existence - comprising the realms of the lower beings, human beings and angels.

The Buddha travelled to the Tavatimsa realm of heaven to preach to his mother. He compressed time so that the dimensions of the earth's time and the Tavatimsa's time were the same before setting off on the journey. He delivered a sermon to his mother and other devas before returning to earth. During the Buddha's absence the time that lapsed on earth was about three months, though he spent only a few hours in the Tavatimsa dimension. When he returned to earth, he walked slowly and revealed the realms of heavens for all beings to witness. His movements captured the imaginations of Thai artists, who built Phra Leela images, or the Walking Buddha. If you visit the Marble Temple or Wat Benjamaborphit, you can see a Phra Leela masterpiece built during the Sukhothai period.

Yet in all these realms, beings still go through the cycle of birth and rebirth, subject to the three characteristics of existence - anicca (impermanence), dukkha (suffering) and anatta (nothingness). To break from this cycle of suffering, we have to purify the spirit from all desire and illusion. Then we will achieve the state of blissfulness - not coming into being, not dying, not subject to time.

In Buddhist terms, our spirit, which exists in abstract and in energy-like form, has no beginning and no end, just like the universe, which comes into being, holds on to its status before passing away, only to repeat the cycle again and again. Only human beings can transcend this cycle of rebirth and death, by a process of enlightenment.

THE TIME AND SPACE FOR ALL LIVING BEINGS

The term "all living beings" includes not only human beings but also encompasses beings in the other five realms of existence: celestial beings, asuras, animals, hungry ghosts, and beings in the hell realm. What is the time and space for all living beings within the six realms of existence?

We will first talk about time.

A. Ksana

In Buddhism, a "ksana" is the smallest unit of time. Within the context of how we measure time today, it is approximately one seventy-fifth of a second. It is very brief. In Buddhism, how do we gauge such a short duration of time?

A reflection is a moment of thought; one human reflection takes up ninety ksanas.

Within one ksana, there are nine hundred instances of arising and ceasing.

There are 32,820,000 ksanas in one day.

From the descriptions above, we can glean that the arising and ceasing within a ksana occurs very rapidly. During any particular moment, we see flowers as red and leaves as green. In reality, they are constantly changing from ksana to ksana, and after a while, they will wilt. Within each ksana, they are perpetually growing and wilting. Take the example of a table: we see it standing firmly. However, if we were to look at it under an electron microscope, we would see that the internal fiber structure of the wood is changing, expanding and contracting as it decays from ksana to ksana. In a few years, this table will no longer be any good. In this world, how can there be any flowers and grass that will never wilt? How can there be any tables that will not be subjected to destruction? Because all phenomena and existences are arising from ksana to ksana, all phenomena and existence are therefore ceasing from ksana to ksana. There is a saying, "When a young man snaps his fingers, sixty-three ksanas have gone by." Time goes by very fast. Youth can disappear in a flash. A ksana is indeed an extremely brief and short span of time.

B. Asamkhya Kalpa

In Buddhism, a very long period of time is called an "asamkhya kalpa." It is a very, very long period of time; the duration of an "asamkhya kalpa" is so long that any attempts to describe it in words would be difficult. At this time, let me talk about two lesser units of time within an "asamkhya kalpa" so that you can have some general references.

"Mustard seed kalpa": Imagine if we were to take a huge container measuring ten kilometers on each side and fill it with mustard seeds. Then, every one hundred years, we were to remove one seed. The time it would take to empty the container of all the mustard seeds is one "mustard seed kalpa." Exactly how long a "mustard seed kalpa" is would probably have to be determined with the help of several computers.

"Boulder kalpa": Imagine if we were to take a huge boulder measuring ten kilometers on each side and sand the boulder with a piece of sandpaper every one hundred years. The time it would take to sand down the boulder to dust is "one boulder kalpa." This period of time is much longer than that of a "mustard seed kalpa."

Within the Buddhist time scale, both the "mustard seed kalpa" and the "boulder kalpa" are only considered to be minor kalpas. In contrast, the duration of a major kalpa like the "asamkhya kalpa" is so immeasurable and infinite that it is beyond words.

C. Life Span of Living Beings

Lives of living beings never remain still. Like bubbles on the surface of water, they arise as suddenly as they disappear, each with a different life span. Human beings typically can live to about a hundred; some insects are born at dawn and are dead by dusk. To such an insect, one day is the equivalent of one hundred years in human terms. Tortoises, the longest living creatures on earth, can live up to two hundred and fifty years. Viruses probably perish in less than three hours. Although there is a huge difference between three hours and two hundred fifty years, nevertheless, each existence spans a lifetime. Elephants and dolphins can live to be ninety. Cows, horses, monkeys, and dogs generally last fifteen to twenty years. Rats may live for three to four years. Although flies and mosquitoes can only live for a period of about seven days, this is still a lifetime. The life span of a living beinghether it is a day, a few hours, a century, or two hundred and fifty yearsay seem lengthy by worldly standards.

However, in the unlimited extent of time and space, these lengths of time are still quite brief. Why? According to Buddhist scriptures, there are beings with much longer life span than human beings. The realm above humans is the celestial realm consisting of many heavens. The heaven closest to us is called the "Caturmaharaja Heaven." Beings in "Caturmaharaja Heaven" can live to five hundred celestial years, or 25,000 human years. Above that is the "Trayastrimsat Heaven." Beings in "Trayastrimsat Heaven" can live to 50,000 human years. Beings in "Yama Heaven" have life span of around 400,000 human years. Beings in "Tusita Heaven" live for about 1,600,000 human years. Beings in the yet higher "Nirmanarati Heaven" can live for as long as 6,400,000 human years. Beyond the heavens in the realm of desire are the heavens of the realm of forms. The length of the life span there is beyond our comprehension. Within the heaven of forms is the "ParanirmitaVasavartin Heaven." Beings there can live to be what is the equivalent of 25,600,000 human years. Such long life span really stretches our imagination. Beyond the heavens in the realm of forms are the heavens in the realm of formlessness. Beings in this realm can live to 80,000 major kalpas. The duration of such a life span is incomprehensible. Regardless of how long these beings live, they are nonetheless still trapped in the cycle of rebirth. They still cannot transcend the boundary of time and space.

Conversely, below the human existence, the hungry ghosts of the Avici Hell suffer tremendously. Their ever-expansive bodies and their ever-conscious minds experience relentless torments. Furthermore, time in the Avici Hell stretches out endlessly. The sufferings from the incessant punishments are beyond description. The scriptures give this descriptive example of "a hungry ghost awaiting for spittle." There was a hungry ghost in hell who had been starving for a very long time. As he had not eaten anything for a long time, his hunger was unbearable. Every day, he painfully yearned for anything to eat. Eventually, he spotted a person who was about to spit. He eagerly waited for this person to spit so that he could consume the spittle. He waited and waited. During his wait, he saw a city crumbled and rebuilt seven times. Countless time passed before he finally got the spittle. In hell, where there is no day or night, time stretches out frighteningly long.

Let us now talk about space. In Buddhism, the largest unit of space is called a "Buddhaksetra" or Buddha Land, and the smallest unit of space is called a "suksma" or dust grain. Despite their differences in names, both terms ultimately describe the three thousand chiliocosms (major universe), which is endless, immeasurable, unlimited and unbounded.

How big is the universe? Modern astronomy says that the planet earth on which we live is only a part of the solar system. Earth is only 1/1,300,000th the size of the sun. In other words, the sun is 1,300,000 times the size of earth. In the expansive space, the Milky Way galaxy has hundreds of billions of stars, and a universe probably has hundreds of million of galaxies like the Milky Way. Just try to imagine the vast immenseness of the universe!

On the other end of the scale, modern physics analyzes matter into ever smaller particles called atoms, protons, electrons or neutrons. A suksma is even smaller than a neutron. For example, a piece of ox hair is very small. If we examine the tip of the ox hair under a high-powered microscope, we would discover that it is made up of many smaller elements. Similarly, a suksma is tens of thousands times smaller than anything we commonly know. Our little finger may look clean and spotless, yet it actually harbors millions of dust particles and microorganisms. Each eye of a housefly consists of four thousand lenses. Such spatial dimension is so minute that it is undetectable by the naked human eyes.

With the help of modern laboratory equipment, technology has provided us with a broad and detailed understanding of the time and space in which we live. When we learn of these modern interpretations based on scientific research, we realize that the universe is indeed extremely vast and deep. However, the dimensions offered by these interpretations are nonetheless small and shallow when we consider time and space from the Buddhist perspective. Why? In Buddhism, time and space are immense without an outer limit and yet miniscule without an inner limit. Time and space are immeasurable and boundless. Today we are here talking; by tomorrow this speech can be televised to all of Taiwan. The following day, it can be translated and distributed to the world in printed form. In the future, it can be published as a book to build Dharma connections with tens of millions of people everywhere in the world. The Buddhist Dharma is forever beyond the limits of time and space.

Tribulation Purpose Vs The Church Nature

Tribulation Purpose Vs The Church Nature
TRIBULATION'S PURPOSE VS. THE CHURCH'S NATURE

Selah >> Prophecy

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

"Therefore keep watch because you do not know the day or the hour." (MATT. 25:13)

Those who shy away from the study of prophecy are fond of quoting this verse as their reason for it. But earlier in the same passage, the Lord had admonished all who read His words of prophecy to understand them. (MATT 24:15) In addition the Apostle Paul wrote that the events leading up to the end of the age should not take believers by surprise (1 THES. 5:4) implying that we should be familiar with them.

Since the Bible cannot contradict itself, these passages must have been aimed at different audiences. And sure enough, a closer look reveals that both the implied timing and the intended audience of the two Matthew passages are different. In MATT 25:13 the Lord is only speaking to people remaining on Earth at His Second Coming, while in MATT. 24:15 he included everyone who would ever read the passage. Of course in 1 THES 5:4 Paul is addressing the church.

What both the Lord (MATT.24:15) and Paul (1 THES. 5:4) are saying is that while we won't know the exact timing of things, we should understand the sequence of events leading up to the Day of the Lord. And perhaps no event in the sequence is more controversial than the Rapture of the Church, especially as it relates to the Great Tribulation.

It seems to me that the first thing we should do in trying to obey the Lord's commandment to understand all this is to clarify two things:

One, the purpose of the Great Tribulation, and

Two, the nature of the Church

THE PURPOSE OF THE GREAT TRIBULATION

The phrase Great Tribulation makes reference to a specific event, not a general condition. While the Lord warned the disciples that they and we would experience tribulation as a general condition in this world (JOHN 16:33), He clearly identified the Great Tribulation as having a specific beginning and ending. It will begin when the abomination that causes desolation predicted by Daniel is erected in the Temple (in the middle of the last 7 years of history) and will end just prior to the Lord's return, three and one half years later. (DANIEL 9:24-27 no longer will foreigners enslave them. Instead, they will serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them."

" 'So do not fear, O Jacob my servant; do not be dismayed, O Israel,' declares the LORD. 'I will surely save you out of a distant place, your descendants from the land of their exile. Jacob will again have peace and security, and no one will make him afraid. "

"I am with you and will save you,'declares the LORD. 'Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only with justice; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.'"

In this passage the event is foretold, its purpose explained, and the timing is made clear. Let's take the timing first. According to verse 3 it will take place after Israel is re-gathered in the land, and verse 9 says it will result in David becoming their King again, a Messianic reference.

There have been two re-gatherings since the passage was written, but the first, beginning in 535 BC, didn't result in David becoming their King. In fact, to this day they have had no legitimate king at all since about 600 BC. Neither were all the nations completely destroyed then.

The second re-gathering began in 1948 AD and continues to this day. Though the population of Israel keeps growing, so do the Jewish populations of all the nations to which the Jews have been scattered, and there are still more Jews outside Israel than there are in the land. All that will soon change as the Lord calls all His people to return to their Promised Land following His victory in the Battle foretold by Ezekiel. (EZEK.39:28)

Now for its purpose. "Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only with justice; I will not let you go entirely unpunished." (JERE. 30:11) The idea is that Israel has to be purified to receive their coming King, and the nations who rejected the King and persecuted His people must be destroyed.

So the purpose of the Great Tribulation is twofold; discipline (purify) the people of Israel so they'll be prepared for the coming Messiah, and completely destroy the nations to which they had been scattered and who have rejected Him.

THE NATURE OF THE CHURCH

According to Paul's Letter to the Ephesians, the church is nothing less than a new race of mankind, coming from among both Jew and Gentile but sharing a destiny with neither. (EPHE. 2:15-16)

The problem had always been that God never could dwell in the midst of His creation. Our sins always eventually drove Him away. At the cross, He reconciled all things to himself, things in heaven and on earth (COL 1:19-20). This meant that He was now at peace with His creation for the first time since the Fall of Man. He accomplished this by paying the price for all the sin of mankind. Now, for anyone who would accept it, a full pardon for behavior past, present and future was available, free for the asking.

YOU'RE A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT

Accepting this pardon qualifies any person, young or old, Jew or Gentile, good or bad, to become a new creation (2 COR 5:17). When we do it permits God to look upon us as if we are without sin altogether; and in fact as if we had never sinned to begin with. It also requires the division of mankind into three groups: Jew, Gentile and Church. (1 COR. 10:32)

It's critical that we understand God's perspective in this because it's way different from ours. To Him, the church is without sin, holy and blameless, and has been since the cross. Whatever sins we as individuals have committed (or will commit) have been forgiven and forgotten. It's as if they never happened (EPHE 1:4-8). At the cross, the church became as pure and holy as God Himself (2 COR 5:21), having been made perfect forever. (HEBR. 10:14) Finally God has a people with whom He can live in peace. Because the Man from heaven agreed to become outfitted for earth, men from earth can now be outfitted for heaven.

The nature of the Church is to be as though sinless. As Paul said we're like a chaste virgin (2 COR. 11:2), without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, holy and blameless. (EPHES. 5:27) We've been washed from our sins in the Lord's own blood (REV. 1:5).

(I have recently noticed a resurgence of the view that not all Christians will inherit eternal life with the Lord, but only those judged worthy by their works. This view holds that while saved, some born again believers will actually share the destiny of unbelievers, being cast into the outer darkness and away from the presence of God forever. Proponents of this view demonstrate a remarkable ignorance of New Testament Theology as summarized in the verses I've cited here.)

WHAT'S THE POINT?

First, not needing purification, no purpose is fulfilled by having the Church endure the Great Tribulation. And even if purification was needed, how could the suffering of one generation of believers serve to purify all the generations of believers who have preceded us?

In Israel's case the generations since the cross are lost, having rejected their Messiah. The last generation's discipline is intended to finally bring them to that realization and to open their eyes and hearts to Jesus so that a remnant of God's people can be preserved. (ZECH. 12:10-13)

But all the generations of the Church have died in hope of spending eternity with the Lord as the Bible promised them. Is it only ours who will receive this promise and then only after sharing in Israel's purification? Of course not.

Second, the focus of the Great Tribulation is Jewish and God's focus seems to be either Israel or the church, never both. (This was explained by James in ACTS 15:12-18 and by Paul in ROMANS 11:25-27.) If you take the view, as I do, that the Battle of EZEKIEL 38 occurs before the Great Tribulation, and realize that one outcome of that battle is to turn Israel back to God, (EZE 39:28-29) then you know the church's days on Earth have to end at the same time. This is what makes the fact that Israel exists again an important sign that the end is near.

IN SUMMARY

Of course the Scriptures promise that the church won't be present on Earth for the Great Tribulation and we've covered them in detail in other studies on the Rapture.

My intent in this study is not to review them but rather to achieve the following:

1. to demonstrate that the purpose of the Great Tribulation is to discipline Israel and completely destroy the Nations, and

2. to show that the Church has no need for purification or discipline, and therefore our presence here during that period would be in direct opposition to our nature as viewed by God.

Because of this God has promised to remove the Church well before the Great Tribulation begins. In 1 THES 1:10 and 5:9 Paul said first that the Church will be rescued from God's wrath and then that the church was not appointed to suffer wrath. By REV 6 His wrath will have arrived. The Greek preposition translated from in 1 THES 1:10, means from the time, place or any relation to the event. The Church will be rescued from the time, place, or any relation to God's wrath. This promise had first been made over 750 years earlier in ISAIAH 26:20 and it's still good today. Selah 07-12-08

Thou Shalt Not Tempt The Lord Thy God

Thou Shalt Not Tempt The Lord Thy God
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.- Matt.4:5-7

The following lines are from a story in today's news from the Associated Press. This tragic story highlights the danger of false religious beliefs.

WAUSAU, Wis. - A central Wisconsin man accused of killing his 11-year-old daughter by praying instead of seeking medical care was found guilty Saturday of second-degree reckless homicide...Prosecutors contended he should have rushed the girl to a hospital because she couldn't walk, talk, eat or drink. Instead, Madeline died on the floor of the family's rural Weston home as people surrounded her and prayed.

"If I go to the doctor, I am putting the doctor before God," Neumann testified. "I am not believing what he said he would do." [Note: It is this bizarre scruple stated bluntly by Neumann, even after the death of his own child, that constitutes a false religious belief.] Assistant District Attorney LaMont Jacobson told jurors in closing arguments Friday that Neumann was..."overwhelmed by pride" in his interpretation of the Bible and selfishly let Madeline die as a test of faith...Neumann knew he should have taken his daughter to a doctor and minimized her illness when speaking with investigators, Jacobson said, calling Neumann no different than a drunken driver who remarks he only had a couple of beers...Doctors testified that Madeline would have had a good chance of survival if she had received medical care, including insulin and fluids, before she stopped breathing.

Enoch And The Watchers The Real

Enoch And The Watchers The Real Story Of Angels And Demons February 15 201
New Dawn Magazine: In 2002 the British newspaper The Sunday Telegraph reported that the Vatican had banned the veneration of those angels who do not appear in the authorised texts of the Bible. This was an attempt to counter the influence of unnamed New Age groups who were allegedly recruiting new members within the Roman Catholic Church. In future, prayers were only to be directed to the three archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael who are mentioned in the Bible. According to the apocryphal and banned Book of Enoch these were the angelic beings responsible for binding the wicked fallen angels or Watchers who had transgressed God's law. The news report said that the early Church had excluded the book, attributed to the Old Testament prophet and patriarch Enoch, from the authorised version of the Bible because it described these fallen angels and their activities.

Who are the Watchers or fallen angels and why was the early Church and the modern Vatican so concerned about them?... read more>>>...

Review: On Walking A Psychogeographical Journey

Review On Walking A Psychogeographical Journey
When you are on a magical path, I believe coincidences are worth paying attention to. Here's one that happened to me.

Just as I was thinking I ought to start doing research for my talk on psychogeography at the Pagan Federation London Conference this August, I got the following email: "Dear Bad Witch, Please pardon this intrusion. Given your interest in psychogeography you might be interested to know that my new book On Walking(and accompanying essay 'Enchanted Things') is now available from Triarchy Press."

It wasn't a book I had been aware of previously, but it was about psychogeography. Perfect. The author, Phil Smith, also kindly offered me a review copy - and I enjoyed reading it very much.

In On Walking,Phil Smith describes a psychogeographical walk he made in Suffolk following a route taken by another author, W.G. Sebald, for his 1995 book The Rings Of Saturn.

I've never read The Rings of Saturn, but I don't think that mattered. On Walking is not just an homage to a famous 20th century writer obsessed with the horrors of war and the decay of civilisation. What Phil Smith offers is part travelogue, part visionary journey and part tutorial in how to do psychogeography as well as a being a literary journey. And the English coastal towns he travelled through have inspired many writers apart from Sebald, including MR James, Arthur Machen and HP Lovecraft - all writers I am familiar with.

Phil Smith says: "On the eve of setting out I read Arthur Machen's The Terror, the narrative of which briefly crosses my own intended route at Dunwich Heath. Machen's story is the source for horror master H. P. Lovecraft's fictional 'Dunwich'. Lovecraft transposes the town, a large East Anglian port mostly swept away by the sea in the early mediaeval era, to Massachusetts for The Dunwich Horror, one of the core stories of his Cthulhu mythos."

Psychogeography is often described as a study of the "effects of the geographical environment, consciously organised or not, on the emotions and behaviour of individuals." That study is usually done by walking - or "drifting" - around an area and paying attention into its atmosphere and ambiance. It is an important technique employed in On Walking, although Phil Smith calls it "mythogeography". He describes mythogeography as "...a hybrid of ideas, tactics and strategies. It embraces both respectable (academic, scientific, culturally validated) and non-respectable (Fortean, antiquarian, mystical, fictional) knowledges."

He offers tips on how to approach mythogeographic walks interspersed with descriptions of his own "great walk". These are methods of disrupting our everyday sense of the world around us and helping us to see things differently. They include picking a theme, going somewhere previously unknown, going alone or just with one other person, freeing oneself from usual walking habits and, sensibly, wearing good footwear.

On Walking works on many different levels. As the description on the Triararchy Press website, says:

On one level On Walking... describes an actual, lumbering walk from one incongruous B and B to the next, taking in Dunwich, Lowestoft, Southwold, Covehithe, Orford Ness, Sutton Hoo, Bungay, Halesworth and Rendlesham Forest - with their lost villages, Cold War testing sites, black dogs, white deer and alien trails.

On a second level it sets out a kind of walking that the author has been practising for many years and for which he is quietly famous. It's a kind of walking that burrows beneath the guidebook and the map, looks beyond the shopfront and the Tudor facade and feels beneath the blisters and disgruntlement of the everyday. Those who try it report that their walking [and their whole way of seeing the world] is never quite the same again. And the Suffolk walk described in this book is an exemplary walk, a case study - this is exactly how to do it.

Finally, on a third level, On Walking... is an intellectual tour de force, encompassing Situationism, alchemy, jouissance, dancing, geology, psychogeography, 20th century cinema and old TV, performance, architecture, the nature of grief, pilgrimage, World War II, the Cold War, Uzumaki, pub conversations, synchronicity, somatics and the Underchalk. On Walkingis thought-provoking and extremely well written. If you are a psychogeographer, a keen rambler or just an armchair explorer you will enjoy it. If you are a fan of the works of MR James, Arthur Machen, HP Lovecraft or, presumable, Sebald, you will enjoy it. If you like

Asatru Religion Of The Minds

Asatru Religion Of The Minds
As in all organized religions, there are issues in Asatru where not all of the Practitioners are of one mind. Sadly, one of the most contentious issues in Asatru revolves around how open the religion is to people who are not of Northern European/Teutonic racial and/or cultural heritage. Not surprisingly, this is an issue that is very emotionally charged, and it is often difficult to conduct civil discussions on the various positions that are held.

To try and remove some of the overt emotionalism that often accompanies this topic, and to try to help clarify what the range of viewpoints are, I have created a fairly basic scale that provides summaries of the most common viewpoints I have encountered or been otherwise made aware of. I would like to thank Doug from Texas who has provided assistance in editing and refining this scale.

The descriptions are written from the Perspective of one who holds that viewpoint. It should be noted that at the furthest ends of the scale, the beliefs held may come across as more extreme, and I have tried to indicate this without belittling the holder of the viewpoint or the holder itself. I have also tried to eliminate as much inflammatory language as possible, and to avoid implying any judgments or personal feelings I may have about any particular viewpoint.

Inclusion of a viewpoint on this scale does not mean that it is in any way generally accepted as a "valid" viewpoint by the Asatru Community in general, only that there are people who call themselves Asatru and hold that particular viewpoint.

Letter Of Metropolitan Of Glyfada Paul

Letter Of Metropolitan Of Glyfada Paul To The Greek Uniates
Hat tip to Jean-Michel.

TO THE APOSTOLIC EXARCH OF THEHELLENIC-RITE CATHOLICS OF GREECE

Voula, the 4th November 2008

Protocol No. 1562

ToThe Apostolic ExarchOf the Hellenic-Rite Catholics of GreeceMr. Demetrios Salahas

Dear Sir,

!A few days ago I was informed of the content of your homily, during your ordination-enthronement as Bishop of the Hellenic-Rite Catholics of Greece. It is with this occasion that I am writing my personal thoughts, with the outspokenness of an Orthodox Bishop of the Church in Greece; one who was born in Hermoupolis of Syros Island, and raised and residing in his native island up until the completion of the Secondary Education cycle in the renowned High School of Syros.

Your homily, quite extensive, was addressed to the flock "of a small in number ecclesiastic community of faithful, in Athens and in Yannitsa". These faithful, according to your address, are "fully united with the Church of Rome", albeit "belonging to the Eastern Byzantine tradition". And you continue, stressing that "this double ecclesiastic identity of theirs - as Catholics and Easterners - being in full communion with the Apostolic Seat of Old Rome and its Primate the Bishop of Rome, and simultaneously remaining loyal to the sacred Patristic traditions, the theological treasures and the divine Worship of the Christian East, enriches that very Catholic Church of Greece - which historically belongs almost in its entirety to the western Latin tradition - and it constitutes an expression of the "co-inheritance", the communion and the unity within the bosom of the Catholic Church itself."This spirit, which infused many more paragraphs of your speech, was further embellished by the position that "our vision and our mindset is a unifying one and not a 'Uniate' one", and was accompanied by your entreaty: "Do not consider me a Uniate, but a unifying hierarch", additionally condemning "categorically every act of proselytism, from wherever it may originate".

Because of your above positions, kindly allow me to ask you a few questions - which spring from my own experiences of living many years in Syros, as well as a familiarity with the manner of coexistence between Orthodox and Roman Catholics - which questions of course express my own, personal concerns: Are you aware to what degree the mode of operation of your Ecclesiastic Community causes confusion amongst the faithful of the Orthodox Church, in the multitudinous urban communities of those two cities, and especially in the densely populated Athens suburb of Patisia, on Acharnon Street, where many Orthodox approach, not knowing the true Ecclesiological and Theological background that lurks beneath the Orthodox appearance? Why do your clergy need to wear the canonical attire of the Orthodox Tradition, erect Temples in the Byzantine style, perform the Sacred services according to the Rubric of the Orthodox Eastern Church, use mostly the Liturgical What is the need for a Uniate to be present in the Theological Dialogues between the Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Confession? Is that how the Union will prosper? Would it perhaps be a gesture of good will on behalf of the Pope - for the progress of the Theological Dialogues - to no longer appoint a Uniate Bishop-Apostolic Exarch of the Hellenic-Rite Catholics of Greece? Why such a persistence for Unia by the Pope? Are you able to reckon how many comprise the "small number of members" of the Community of Hellenic-Rite Catholics of Greece and justify for what reason there is a need to elect and instate a Uniate Bishop in Greece?

If your Community is indeed small in number - even with the recent, artificially increased groups of faithful - why can't they be poemantically served by the clergy of the Roman Catholic Confession of Greece? Why can't these people be ministered by Roman Catholic Bishops, who are evidently and manifestly connected to the Vatican; whose attire is according to the Latin tradition - just like those who attend your ordinations (as apparent in related photographs) - so that the members of your Community might come to know Jesus Christ in that manner?Furthermore, whenever I recall the excellent hospitalization of my ever-memorable mother twenty years ago in the "Pammakaristos" Hospital , that memory is always tainted by the question posed at the time by the Orthodox-looking (but Latin in dogma) Hospital minister: "Would you like me to minister Holy Communion?" Despite the fact that my mother's theological preparation and awareness gave him the appropriate response: "No thank you; I have a son who is a clergyman and he will make sure that I receive Communion in an Orthodox manner", we do wonder if you continue with this same tactic, in the sensitive realm of pain and consolation... What, indeed, do you do, in other Hospitals?

What, I wonder, were the motive and the objective behind the performing of a "Trisagion" service during the funeral in Rome of the recently deceased Pope, by Orthodox-attired Uniate clergymen, Bishops and presbyters, according to the Orthodox Rite, and in the Greek language? The above facts give the impression - to a multitude of intelligent and prudent people - that they comprise actions of proselytism and attempts to seize the souls of Orthodox Christians with underhanded means. It is our wish that the aforementioned do not reflect reality. That is why it is our hope that your sincerely written intentions are indeed sincere and do not hide any deception, thus offending Christ's "One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church".

With prayers in the Lord,

The least among Bishops.THE METROPOLITAN

Virgin Mary Appears In Alabama Well Sort Of

Virgin Mary Appears In Alabama Well Sort Of
Image by mermay19 via FlickrIt is often said that nothing is wrong with talking to gods as long as they do not talk back. When gods talk back, one is likely psychotic. Of course, a great many people claim that gods speak to them. Some are undoubtedly suffering from serious mental illness, but the majority are either lying to manipulate others or deluding themselves in a way that would not result in a psychiatric diagnosis. This sort of self-delusion is not only socially acceptable but is sometimes met with incredible praise and admiration.

Take the case of Marija Lunetti in Shelby County, Alabama. A reader, BamaGal, sent me an article from the "Birmingham News" about Ms. Lunetti, and it is a great example of why someone might claim to converse with gods.

Over 2,000 people have traveled from all over the U.S. to rural Alabama simply because Ms. Lunetti claims to have daily visions of the Virgin Mary. According to the article, these "pilgrims" make the journey "hoping to feel the presence of the mother of Jesus."

One would think that rural Alabama would have plenty of folks who think they are in communication with spirits, but Ms. Lunetti came all the way from the former Yugoslavia to have her "visions" promoted.Marija Lunetti, whose reports of daily visions of the Virgin Mary have drawn millions of pilgrims to Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, has spent the past week in Shelby County. She continues to have her daily visions, including Thursday and Friday at 10:30 p.m.How nice that her "visions" occur on a consistent schedule. Why, one could probably sell tickets!Although the pilgrims can't see the apparitions, they believe the Virgin Mary appears and speaks to Lunetti.Of course they do.

Salem Witch Trials Of 1692

Salem Witch Trials Of 1692
We have all heard of the Salem Witch Trials from history class and/or other sources. What is the first thing that pops into your mind when you hear the word "witch?" You automatically assume that it's a female. But how many of you knew that men were also prosecuted as witches during those long four months in 1692? Nineteen men and women were convicted of witchcraft and sentence to hang at Gallows Hill. One man was pressed together under stones for refusing to go to trial. Hundreds of other men and women were accused of witchcraft while dozens were kept in jail without a trial. So here's the question. How did it all start?

In 1688, John Putnam, an elder of Salem Village, invited Samuel Parris, a planter and merchant in Barbados, to preach in the Village church and later on accepting the offer to be Village minister. He moved his wife Elizabeth, their daughter Betty, his niece Abagail Williams and their Indian slave Tituba to Salem Village. During February of 1692, young Betty Parris suddenly became ill. She complained of fever, contorted in pain, dove under furniture and dashed about. Her symptoms could have been a combination of things such as stress, asthma, epilepsy, etc. Cotton Mather had recently published a book called Memorable Provendences that described the witchcraft of an Irish washerwoman and Betty's symptoms was very similar to hers.

Talks of witchcraft increased when some of Betty's playmates started having the same symptoms. When William Griggs, a doctor, was called to examine the girls, he suggested that their problems were more supernatural than physical which the widespread belief made it seem like his diagnoses was very likely true.

Mary Sibley, a neighbor, told Tituba to make a rye cake with the urine of an afflicted child and feed it to a dog (It was said that dogs performed devilish tasks for witches). This was to be like a counter spell. By that time, Tituba had already been suspected of witchcraft and the urine cakes fueled the suspicions. She was later arrested a long with two other women, Sarah Good and Sarah Osborn.

Meanwhile, the number of afflicted girls rose to seven. They went from a group of friends to juvenile delinquents. They began to complain about being pinched and bitten, they would fall over into frozen positions, contort in grotesque poses. With this affliction and beliefs of the devil being close at hand, the situation soon became an obsession among Salem Village.

After Tituba, Sarah Good and Sarah Osborn were arrested, they were examined. At first, Tituba denied being a witch, but later on she admitted being approached by a tall guy in Boston (who appeared as a dog or a hog at times) and was forced to sign his book and do his work. She also said that her and four other women flew through the air on poles as well as other things. With Tituba's confession, the witch hunts and trials began.
