Gather, Darkness!

Pulp Fantasy Library Gather Darkness
"Serialized in the May, June, and July 1943 issues of Astounding Science Fiction", Fritz Leiber's "Gather, Darkness!" might well be called the antithesis of Walter Miller's "A Canticle for Leibowitz" were it not for the fact that it appeared more than a decade earlier. Like Miller's novel, "Gather, Darkness!" takes place several centuries after a nuclear holocaust, with learning and scholarship preserved by a powerful religious institution. Unlike Miller's Catholic Church, Leiber's Hierarchy is thoroughly venal and corrupt and uses its stranglehold on knowledge to rule tyrannically over the post-apocalyptic world. Indeed, the religion of "the Great God" seems largely to be a sham, a useful lie created by scientists to bring order in the aftermath of civilization's downfall. Consequently, it's strongly implied that all the story's instances of "magic" or "miracles" are in fact the result of advanced technology utilized by the Hierarchy in order to gull the common folk into uncritical acceptance of its claims to a divine mandate.

The protagonist of "Gather, Darkness!" is Armon Jarles, a young priest, who's begun to have doubts about the Hierarchy's claims.

Brother Jarles, priest of the First and Outermost Circle, novice in the Hierarchy, swallowed hard against his churning anger; bent every effort to make his face a mask-not only to the commoners, for that was something every member of the Hierarchy was taught to do, but to his brother priests as well.

Any priest who hated the Hierarchy as he did during these frightening spasms of rage must be mad.

But priests could not go mad-at least, not without the Hierarchy knowing of it, as it knew of everything else.

A misfit then? But a priest was fitted to his job with infinite precision and foresight, the very outlines of his personality measured as if with an atomic probe. A priest could not hate his work.

No, he must be mad. And the Hierarchy must be concealing the fact from him for its own inscrutable purposes.

Or else-everything to the contrary-he was right. The conflict within the young priest quickly comes to a head when he witnesses an older priest, Brother Chulian, first attempt to force a young woman (who also happens to be an old love of Jarles) to serve in the Sanctuary against her will and then, when she obstinately refuses this honor, accuses her of being a witch. Casting off his robes of office, including the high-tech "halo" that illuminated his head, Jarles addresses the people of the Hierarchy's capital city.

"Commoners of Megatheopolis!"

That checked the beginnings of a panicky flight. Eyes turned to stare at him stupidly. They had not yet begun to comprehend what had happened. But when a priest spoke, one listened.

"You have been taught that ignorance is good. I tell you it is evil!

"You have been taught that to think is evil. I tell you it is good!

"You have been told that it is your destiny to toil night and day, until your backs ache to breaking and your hands blister under the calluses. I tell you it is the destiny of all men to look for easier ways!

"You have let the priests rule your lives. I tell you that you must rule yourselves!

"You believe that the priests have supernatural powers. I tell you they have no powers you could not wield yourselves!

"You believe that the priests are chosen to serve the Great God and transmit his commands. But-if there is a god anywhere-each one of you, in his ignorant heart, knows more of him than the mightiest archpriest.

"You have been told that the Great God rules the universe-earth and sky. I tell you the Great God is a fake!"With those words, Brother Jarles becomes a heretic and a wanted man. He flees Megatheopolis, with the knowledge of the Hierarchy, falls in with a rebel movement known as "the Witchcraft," just as the priests had hoped. Though the Witchcraft opposes the Hierarchy and espouses many views with which Jarles can agree, he also sees that, at base, their main point of disagreement with the servants of the Great God is that "they "are the world's tyrants and not the Witchcraft itself. Just like the Hierarchy, the Witchcraft uses technology to trick and deceive and their beliefs are little more than a mask for their lust for power.

I have to admit that I don't quite know how I feel about "Gather, Darkness!" On the one hand, the story seems to be a solid, if somewhat clich'ed, critique of the dangers inherent in any powerful organization, particularly one composed of individuals who believe themselves to "know better" than the average person. On the other hand, much of it comes off as rather shallow, even puerile, especially its facile portrayal of religion and religious faith. But, even at his worst, Leiber is a terrific stylist, whose dialog is engaging and whose wit enjoyable. Both are in evidence in "Gather, Darkness!" as is a fast-paced plot that never once wastes time with useless exposition or indulgent world-building. It's a quick read and a fun one. Whether it's more than that each reader must decide for himself.

Relentless Pessimism And Incurable Optimism

Relentless Pessimism And Incurable Optimism
Canadian Evangelical academic and author, Dr. Craig Carter, who blogs at "The Politics of the Cross Resurrected," explains in an interview at "Mere Orthodoxy" how his faith affects his political philosophy:

MO: Can you describe the way in which your Christian worldview has informed your political worldview?

CC: As a Christian, I am a relentless pessimist with regard to the City of Man and an incurable optimist with regard to the City of God. I am implacably opposed to all political philosophies which are either too optimistic with regard to the City of Man (eg. Progressivism, Marxism) or too dismissive of the City of God (eg. Secularism). Thoughtful and pious Christians are the people who can be trusted to govern best in this world because they are well aware of the failings of human nature due to original sin, which minimizes their tendency toward embracing Utopianism, and because they have a sense of being accountable to God on the Day of Judgment, which gives them a healthy fear of killing the innocent no matter how good the cause. Of course, Christians often fail to live up to their best insights and when they do fail it negates their advantage. I'd rather be governed by a modest, moral, Aristotelian pagan than by a sophisticated, post-Christian, crypto-Marxist. In the long run it is better to be ruled by a person who knows right from wrong, even if he still does the wrong thing sometimes (think Churchill for example), than by a person who thinks right and wrong are concepts that belong in fairy tales for children (think Stalin, for example).

I believe that Western civilization has been influenced by Christianity to an extent not seen in any other civilization in the world. I believe that this influence is responsible for important, universal and permanently valid principles such as: limited government, the rule of law, individual freedom, the division of powers, free speech, freedom of religion, free enterprise, and natural law as the basis of positive law. These principles are steadily being eroded in Western Europe and the UK, but are still powerfully influential in America, which is where the West will eventually make its last stand if present trends continue.

In the late modern West, I believe that an Augustinian must be a conservative and a conservative had better be an Augustinian if he wants to survive without falling into despair or converting to socialism... [more]Interview: Craig Carter Mere Orthodoxy

What Are The Characteristics Of Faith Continuation

28 What Are The Characteristics Of Faith Part 3 Continuation
28. WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF FAITH? (PART 3) (CONTINUATION)

(Comp 28 repetition) Faith is the supernatural virtue which is necessary for salvation. It is a free gift of God and is accessible to all who humbly seek it. The act of faith is a human act, that is, an act of the intellect of a person - prompted by the will moved by God - who freely assents to divine truth. Faith is also certain because it is founded on the Word of God; it works "through charity" (Galatians 5:6); and it continually grows through listening to the Word of God and through prayer. It is, even now, a foretaste of the joys of heaven.

"In Brief"

(CCC 184) "Faith is a foretaste of the knowledge that will make us blessed in the life to come" (St. Thomas Aquinas. "Comp. Theol". 1, 2).

To deepen and explain

(CCC 161) Believing in Jesus Christ and in the One who sent him for our salvation is necessary for obtaining that salvation (Cf. Mk 16:16; Jn 3:36; 6:40 "et al".). "Since 'without faith it is impossible to please (God)' and to attain to the fellowship of his sons, therefore without faith no one has ever attained justification, nor will anyone obtain eternal life 'but he who endures to the end.'" ["Dei Filius" 3: DS 3012; cf. Mt 10:22; 24:13 and Heb11:6; Council of Trent DS 1532]. (CCC 162) Faith is an entirely free gift that God makes to man. We can lose this priceless gift, as St. Paul indicated to St. Timothy: "Wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting conscience, certain persons have made shipwreck of their faith" (1 Tim 1:18-19). To live, grow and persevere in the faith until the end we must nourish it with the word of God; we must beg the Lord to increase our faith (Cf. Mk 9:24; Lk 17:5; 22:32); it must be "working through charity," abounding in hope, and rooted in the faith of the Church (Gal 5:6; Rom 15:13; cf. Jas 2:14-26).

On reflection

(CCC 163) Faith makes us taste in advance the light of the beatific vision, the goal of our journey here below. Then we shall see God "face to face", "as he is" (1 Cor 13:12; 1 Jn 3:2). So faith is already the beginning of eternal life: When we contemplate the blessings of faith even now, as if gazing at a reflection in a mirror, it is as if we already possessed the wonderful things which our faith assures us we shall one day enjoy (St. Basil, "De Spiritu Sancto", 15, 36: PG 32, 132; cf. St. Thomas Aquinas, "STh" II-II, 4, 1). (CCC 164) Now, however, "we walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Cor 5:7); we perceive God as "in a mirror, dimly" and only "in part" (l Cor 13:12). Even though enlightened by him in whom it believes, faith is often lived in darkness and can be put to the test. The world we live in often seems very far from the one promised us by faith. Our experiences of evil and suffering, injustice and death, seem to contradict the Good News; they can shake our faith and become a temptation against it. (CCC 165) It is then we must turn to the "witnesses of faith": to Abraham, who "in hope... believed against hope" (Rom 4:18); to the Virgin Mary, who, in "her pilgrimage of faith", walked into the "night of faith" (LG 58; John Paul II, RMat 18) in sharing the darkness of her son's suffering and death; and to so many others: "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith" (Heb 12:1-2). (END)

(Next question: Why is there no contradiction between faith and science?)

Caractersticas Bsicas De Un Hechizo

Caractersticas Bsicas De Un Hechizo

?Incrementar tu concentraci'on?

Prophetic Significance To Number 153

Prophetic Significance To Number 153
Whether you acknowledge it or nor, the Bible is overflowing with Numerology.

We would be wise to ground ourselves in God's Word and understand the spiritual meanings and symbolism associated with certain numbers because they can help to give us a better understanding of our God, His plan, and our role in what's coming upon the world.

Yet, many Christians will shy away from the subject entirely because Satan has done an excellent job of perverting what God created (and intended to have SOME signifcance to believers) and has successfully turned it into a purely occult study in the minds of many.

Well, I intend to continue to do what I can to shine a small light on the numbers and the symbolism they project especially since the veil between the physical and the spiritual is thinning. We need to have at least a casual understanding of such things I believe because they may serve as "sign posts" or "road signs" along God's prophetic roadmap for all believers during these end times.

If you doubt that's possible, then how do you explain the fact that He is VERY CLEAR about the length of days between the start of the Tribulation to the end, and from the start of the Great Tribulation to the end at the Battle of Armageddon? I mean, if numbers weren't important and He didn't want His people to know for certain where they where along His prophetic timeline (so that they could know for certain what was still coming), then He wouldn't have provided them to us, right? It's precisely this line of thinking that had me fixated on the number "153" that came up in the last entry here about the unusual, on-going plane crashes. While that piece commented on the occult perversion of this number, I want to now focus on the Christian significance instead.

For those who don't know, 153 is found quite prominently in the Holy Bible (153 Fish Miracle), which is amazing when you consider that it's been showing up a lot lately in several un Plane Crashes = Tragic Deaths = No Bodies/Survivors = Sudden Disappearance/Rapture?

I wonder. Seems plausible at least.

The more I researched the more things seemed to come together and a definite theme began to emerge. Incredibly, however, a lot of the things that showed up here in today's study paralleled a lot of what we discovered last week regarding Isaiah 18, the banner on a mountain, and that whole camel connection to prophecy business!

Check out what I found from CHRISTIAN-FORUM:

The most interesting theory in my opinion is found in Grant Jeffrey's book "Unveiling Mysteries of the Bible." The book says that a Christian army officer, named Lt. Col. R. Roberts, made a discovery more than a century ago. He too was curious about the odd number of 153 fish. Roberts discovered that the four Gospels record precisely 153 individuals who were specifically blessed by Jesus Christ. These divine blessings through their personal encounters with Jesus Christ included salvation, divine healings, resurrections, as well as those persons who were personally blessed through witnessing Christ supernaturally bless their friend or loved one (such as Jairus and his daughter). Mr. Jeffrey goes on to list the 153 people who received a direct blessing from Jesus Christ, including the 70 disciples, 11 apostles, 10 lepers, 4 brethren of the Lord, the palsied man and bearers, the Centurion, Lazarus, Mary, Martha, the blind men, the demon-possessed man, Nicodemus, Peter's mother-in-law, etc.

Between the 4 Gospels the total of these blessed people does add up to 153. It's unlikely that this number of 153 is a mere coincidence. It clearly demonstrates that the Lord numbers and watches over every individual who places his faith and trust in Him. As Jesus states in Matthew 10:29-31 "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."

Let me just repeat that this is not my research and I have not investigated the accuracy of this above claim.

But, What I have found is, if you take a look at an old map of Jerusalem in the time of Christ, it has 7 mountains:1.) Mount Gared; 2.) Mount Goath; 3.) Mount Acra; 4.) Mount Bezetha; 5.) Mount Moriah; 6.) Mount Ophel; 7.) Mount Zion.

In studying the word Zion, I have found that it continues to imply one thing, and that is that this is the mountain (or place) where God dwell's with His chosen people and they have fellwship with Him. And I know that this is through His spirit.

I did a word search in the King James Bible on each of the names of the mountains that were in Jerusalem in the time of Christ and found that some of the mountains are not found in the Bible at all and others just a few times, but Mount Zion is found exactly 153 times. Not sure of what this means, but its kind of interesting.

Actually, "Zion" is mentioned 153 times not the word pairing "Mount Zion". Even so, the allusion to Mount Zion could be an important one on the heels of our studies on Isaiah 18 last week (which talked about a banner on a mountain, judgment, the Rapture).

In any event, I also found these additional points to ponder from the same forum:

> The Kingdom of God = 153; A Numbering Sign = 153

> if you convert 153 back to Hebrew it means "I AM" or "I AM GOD"

> Are there perhaps some Scriptures that relate to 153? Within the Old Testament, these are the only first chapters of each book with a 53rd verse:

NUMBERS 1:53 - "but the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel; and the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony."

1 KINGS 1:53 - "So King Solomon sent them to bring him down from the altar. And he came and fell down before King Solomon; and Solomon said to him, 'Go to your house.'"

1 CHRONICLES 1:53 - "Chief Kenaz, Chief Teman, Chief Mibzar,"

(the rest of the scripture states : "Chief Kenaz, Chief Teman, Chief Mibzar, 54 Chief Magdiel, and Chief Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom.")

LUKE 1:53 - "He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty."

1 PETER 5:3 - "nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;"

1 JOHN 5:3 - "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."

1 TIMOTHY 5:3 - "Honour widows that are widows indeed."

1 CORINTHIANS 5:3 - "For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed"

1 THESSALONIANS 5:3 - "For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape"

> Aleph = one (1) = ox

He = five (5) window

Gimel = three (3) = camel

100 ( one hundred ) = Qoph = back of the head

50 ( fifty ) = Nun = fish

3 (three) = Gimel = camel

When you evaluate the Hebrew alphabet, regarding the numerical 153, you have all the

above and more not listed. The story of the 153 fishes miracle, is about the subject of fish (50). The fish is ISAIAH 43:3 - "For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee."

Anyway, these are just a few of my findings today. I'm sure the Lord (if He is willing and merciful) will lead me down another path that will leave me in complete awe and amazement of Him and His plan unfolding before our very eyes.

Please stay tuned.

Psychic Cleansing Done On Monday

Psychic Cleansing Done On Monday
Today is a Moon's day, and we have a waning Moon phase-a great time to do psychic cleansing. If you do lots of tarot readings or healing work for friends, you may be accidentally carrying around psychic garbage. So here's a way to get rid of it using lunar magic. You will need a silver candle in a holder set on a flat work surface and some silver glitter. With the glitter, draw a counterclockwise spiral around the candleholder. Light the candle and repeat the charm:

I release and banish all psychic pollution today,

As the candle burns, negativity will fade away.

Trapped in glitter and then burned away by fire,

I am now clear and free, that is my desire. Allow the candle to burn out in a safe place, then clean up any wax and the glitter. Carefully and neatly dispose of it away from your home and property.

Our Place In The World And The Hope Of The World

Our Place In The World And The Hope Of The World
From here.

-

ORTHODOX CATECHISM TOPICS

By: Fr. Anthony Alevizopoulos

PhD. of Theology, PhD. of Philosophy

The entire world is God's creation and therefore it is by nature good; evil does not have an ontological existence. Natural evil is the result of discord which was created after man's fall; even death is a means of educating man in order to lead him back to communion with God. Moral evil, sin, does not have its cause in man's nature, but in man's disposition.

Through man's fall, all of nature was dragged into servitude to corruption. God, however, in the person of His Incarnate Word or Logos entered into the reality of the world and renewed it. By His death, Resurrection and Ascension, He led man, whom He had assumed, to the life of incorruption and immortality; and He exalted him to the height of the glory of God the Father.

This glory, which during the second coming of our Lord shall become our possession, is prefigured in the life of the Church, and especially in the life of the saints. The bodies of the saints, the sacred relics, are surrounded by the sanctifying grace of God and become a source of divine blessings and miracles (IV Kings 13,21. Wisdom of Sirach 18,14). The grace, honor and glory which God grants to the relics of the saints consti-tute a foretaste and predepiction of man's transfiguration and that of all creation. This same grace surrounds the saints even during this life and can be discerned in some as warmth, in others as light, or through various miracu-lous energies, which are blessings for man. Even material objects in the life of the Church bear God's grace.

The presence of God's grace and glory in man and in material creation prefigures the liberation of all of creation from servitude to corruption and guarantees the certainty of our hope in life and incorruption. The world's sanctification was also wrought in the Jordan River during our Lord's Baptism. The hymns of our Church on the day of Epiphany and the prayers of the Great Sanctification of the Waters reveal the new reality of the world: "Today the earth and the sea share in the world's joy and the world is filled with gladness", states the prayer of St. Sophronios of Jerusalem.

Christ hallowed the waters of the Jordan, the banks of the river and all of creation: " You, Lord, being baptized in the Jordan did sanctify its waters"; "having hallowed the waters of the Jordan You did crush the power of sin"; " Today creation is enlightened; today all things rejoice, the heavenly together with the earthly", states the hymnology of our Church.

Through the participation of the material creation in the divine worship of the Church and in the praise and doxology of God the hope of incorruption is expressed. In the Divine Liturgy all of creation is taken on and becomes a new creation in Christ. It is the bread and wine that becomes the Body and Blood of Christ, the candles, the icons, the Holy Cross; and all the material objects participate in some way in the Divine Liturgy. The water, the oil, the incense, the palms, the flowers, and even the new harvest of the crops of the earth are blessed, and the whole world regains that which it lost through man's fall: internal unity, the correct relation-ship with God, which is an eucharistic relationship, a relationship of offering in which all things are referred up and offered to God, Who becomes once again the center of the world.

The unity of the entire creation which offers up "with one mouth" doxology to the Triune God is expressed at the end of the prayer for the Great Blessing of the Waters: "...that with the elements, and men, and Angels and with all things visible and invisible they may magnify Thy most holy Name, together with the Father, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen." Man thus forsakes his autonomy and his egoistic use of God's creation; he once again finds his correct place in the world and his "royal" and "priestly" minis-try (Gen. 1, 28. 2, 15).

The Christian does not reject this world, nor does he consider it to be something negative. He is not called to abandon the world, but to serve or liturgize in it. Christ wants his faithful to be in the world; to be "the salt of the earth" and "the light of the world" (Matth. 5, 13-14). If our world is "tasteless and unsalted" and in darkness, if it follows a process of disintegration, then this means that Christians do not serve "as the salt of the earth" and the "light of the world". We must not then look for the cause of the world's misfortune in others.

This place that the Christians hold in the world implies responsibility for the preservation and the sanctification of God's creation, a task which stems from the service which God entrusted to man in Paradise ("...to cultivate and preserve", Gen. 2, 15). A Christian cannot be indifferent to the world's problems; he must labor to bring the world once again back to its doxological relationship with God. This means that the use of the world cannot have as its center the satisfaction of man's ego and the "needs" which man constantly creates.

The true believer does not attribute absolute and exclusive value to the needs of this life nor to man's abilities. He does not intervene in God's creation in an autonomous way, independent of God's will, and egocentrically; he feels that he is responsible for cre-ation. He does not seek knowledge and use of God's creation "unconditionally". The faithful does not use the powers of the world in a manner not blessed by God and contrary to the balance and harmony in creation and to the unity of God's world.

The Orthodox believer knows that man after the fall ceased to offer creation up to God as a doxology, i.e. to practice his priestly duties vis-a-vis creation; it was he who led creation into servitude to corruption. Within the Church however, he acquires the experience of freedom from this servitude. With this experience he is now called to return to the world with the assurance of the transfiguration and salvation of the entire creation. Having once again acquired within the liturgical place his correct relationship with creation and his correct place within it, he is called to practice his service as priest of the world.

This transfiguration of man and creation in the Church is still not yet the "new heavens" and the "new earth". These will become a reality during Christ's Second Coming. Thus it is that the Christian hope is "not of this world". Every chiliastic-messianic concept which looks to an establishment of an earthly kingdom and the creation of Paradise on earth, is foreign to the spirit of Christ.

Christians respect the authorities of the world and submit themselves to human laws which do not go against their Christian hope (Rom. 13, 1-8. Acts 3, 30). They do not preach a "gospel" conforming to the aspirations and the aims of this world. This is the saving message of the Church to a world which has an exclusively inter secular character and can discern no other vertical dimension in its life. It is for this reason that Orthodox Monasticism with its ascetical character and heavenly orientation offers to our society a great service. It shows to contemporary man, who is exclusively orientated towards the horizontal dimension, the vertical dimension which is at the center of monastic life.

The monks thus constitute the indicators of the reality of heaven, which man who lives in the world cannot easily grasp. Monasticism opens the way to the absolute experience of life in Christ: a way of asceticism and obedience which is followed throughout one's life without ending; a way which is at the same time danger-ous for those who fail to remain humble and steadfast in love that "seeks not its own". This life of the monastics constitutes a continuous vocation to contemporary man's disposition and an excellent prefiguration of the future life.

This anticipation of a new life creates in the Chris-tians the conviction that here on earth they are strangers and sojourners, and that in traversing this life they walk towards their true homeland (Hebrews 11, 13-16). The believer has his eyes always fixed upon heaven and considers death to be the last stop in his journey, his "passing on" or birth into the next life.

We believe that after their separation from the body the souls of the righteous are in the hands of God (Wisdom of Solomon, 3,1) and they await the resurrec-tion of the bodies, so that they may "totally" become partakers in God's love and glory. On the contrary, the souls of the unrighteous who in their lives rejected God's love and communion with Him and with the brethren, and who had as the only center of reference their "ego", are deprived of this love, for their egoism does not allow them to accept it.

Christ's Second Coming will signal the general resurrection; our bodies will be clothed with incorruption and immortality. The righteous shall be raised unto life, the unrighteous unto condemnation. This will be the general judgment of the world; God's love will judge man in accordance with the position he assumes towards it, i.e. whether he accepts it or rejects it.

The Lord desires the salvation of all men, and their return to their true homeland: to the love and commu-nion with the Triune God. This we call Paradise. By this word we do not mean a material but a spiritual reality. Holy Scripture compares this communion to the relation-ship between the Bridegroom and the Bride, and their union is compared to marriage (Rev. 19,7).

The sons of the Kingdom shall be eternally united with Christ and shall henceforth absolutely live the condition of being "one in Christ"; then shall we be in Him participators by grace of His unity with the Father ("I in my Father and you in me" Jn 14,20). All who live in this life closed up within themselves, all those who do not rejoice in seeing the face of their brother shall be deprived of this joy. They of their own accord have chosen their eternal torment.

Christ's Second Coming is for the faithful the fulfillment of their hope, just as is the arrival of the Bridegroom for the Bride. This is why the preparation for the reception of the coming Christ constitutes the chief concern of this life.

But when shall the Lord come? Christians do not concern themselves in pinpointing a specific date. They are vigilant and take care to be ready at every moment, for the Lord shall come suddenly, when we do not expect Him (Matth. 24, 13. 33. Acts 1, 7). The Lord Himself warns us to protect ourselves from false prophets who will be workers of guile and treachery. Outwardly they shall appear in the guise of Christ or in the form of an angel (Matth. 24, 4-5. 23-27. II Cor. 11, 13-15). Their teaching shall not be identical with that of Christ; thus the knowledge of the only real truth of Christ is necessary in order to avoid error and deceit.

Master Magicians And Golden Dawn Apprentices

Master Magicians And Golden Dawn Apprentices Reply To Nick Farrell

BY ALPHA OMEGA IMPERATORDAVID GRIFFIN

Frater Nick Farrel recently wrote an article entitled "Apprenticed to Magic". You can read it here.

Nick FarrellI am frankly surprised how much there is to agree with in this article.

Yes, we DO need to "put our foot down" and teach the right way to do things as I have written over and over, for example here.

Yes, there ARE crazy kids jumping into the deep end of the pool with the grown-ups, as I have written about previously here.

Nick's experience suggests that "money will have to change hands." The Alpha Omega agrees completely and looks forward to one less person attacking the A.O. for accepting dues.Yes, there ARE too many "Orders" just doing the Regardie book. I have documented this for decades, for example here.Yes, the competition between orders has repeatedly gone too far. I have written about this extensively, for example here.

"Nick Farrell writes:"I used to think that the relaxing of systems at the end of the 20th century and the access to more information thanks to the Internet was a good thing. I liked the ideas of the autocratic orders which were the bane of my existence had faded. Now I am not so certain."Nick Farrell has been involved in the Golden Dawn a long time and his experiences reflects a common theme. It's wonderful reading about his evolution as a teacher of the occult because it is one that I have been spared. The Golden Dawn System of Magic was designed to avoid many of the problems Nick has encountered.

"Nick writes: "There once was a time that you would be taught by one person who would show you their magical system, which was often worked out over years by experience."Frater Farrell need not convince me of the importance of the Master-Apprentice relationship in the Golden Dawn. My own Appenticeship to Hermetic Master Alchemist, Frater Lux E Tenebris, has been worth its weight in gold - And in more than one sense!

The Master-Apprentice relationship lies at the very heart not only of the Golden Dawn, but of the entire Hermetic and Rosicruican traditions. It has always been this way. It is this way today. And it will always remain this way as well.

This is why, in the Alpha Omega, the magical development of each new student is taken on by an A.O. Adept from the outset. As one advances in the A.O., this Master-Apprentice relationship takes on more and more importance.

It is for this reason, due to the need for direct coaching, that the A.O. created our 1,000 Points of Light initiative. This is why the Alpha Omega presently provides Ritual Magic coaching to Self-Iniaties and Solitaries in 8 languages in the form of Webinars, Workshops, one-on-one Skype sessions, and ongoing Ritual Magic dojos.

Nick Farrell feels compelled to "go back to the old ways" after his vast experience working with initiates. Fortunately, the AO doesn't have to "go back to the old ways" because we never left. In fact, they aren't the "old ways" at the AO, they're the "Only Ways."

I am pleased to witness how Isis, at long last, is gathering together the divided pieces of Osiris, as Adepts from across the entire Golden Dawn community begin to stand together - not under the banners of the A.O. - but as a community sharing a common spiritual philosophy - united by our mutual obligation to properly train the Adepts of the future.

The need for enough Golden Dawn Adepts to properly train Apprentices is great - greater than even the Alpha Omega alone can bear.

Only as a community of Adepts drawn together by the strength of our common Rosicrucian bonds can the Golden Dawn claim its rightful place in the 21st Century.

Stand with us.

Protect Yourself From Dark Energy

Protect Yourself From Dark Energy

Hi Henry

Just had my first contact from my "article" on The Tap - A nasty voodoo attack... gentleman been suffering for years... all cleared for him

Thank you so much for what you are doing... just cleared you too, let me know if you feel any different...

Love and Light to you

Dudley

TAP - feeling better this evening, Dudley! I've been to my earth energy fix point today as well, and felt a good surge in the back of my head. I was concerned to see that they're concreting over the strongest points I use, although there are other points that are useable nearby still just grass and earth. POST

Thank you for your patience, I will give you some background as to how and why I am doing what I am now doing !

Up to approx five years ago, I was totally in the material world and for many years was the MD of my own photocopier company, Concorde Copiers, based in Exeter. I was perfectly happy with this and indeed rude and quite cynical re anything to do with spiritualism or psychic work of any kind... when I suddenly got my " wake up " call to the spiritual side of who we really are.

Believe me, I was not an easy convert... my story makes a good lecture if you ever want me as a speaker... and I did my absolute best to avoid what was coming at me and carry on selling copiers. Then I started to have experiences which the logical brain could not explain... they had to be psychic, and this persuaded me to start investigating what was coming at me, although I was still finding it all very hard to believe.

I began seeing a lady who I had already been " coincidentally " introduced to... when you begin to see the bigger picture you quickly realise that there is actually no such thing as a coincidence. She is a very gifted psychic and spiritual healer, and she started to explain what I was experiencing and gradually it began to make sense.

I still had " world war three " going on in my head for a while... logical brain v the intuitive... but as more knowledge and experiences came my way, I accepted that what seemed ridiculous was actually correct... that we ARE spiritual beings having a human experience ( in fact many human experiences, given that reincarnation is key to all this ) rather than human beings with a bit of vague spirit around us somewhere !

Having accepted this... I was off ! Experience followed experience and then I became aware of the fact that I had the power and spiritual connections to begin to tackle those who are foolish and misguided enough to work with dark energy, black magic, voodoo, etc, which can be very damaging if not dealt with.

Approx a year ago I came away from Concorde to revitalise an ailing spiritual centre known as Evolution in Exeter... which is now really vibrant again. Facebook EVOLUTIONEXETER.. www.evolutionexeter.com and apart from other spiritual activities, now spend a great deal of my time clearing people / groups of people / buildings, etc of dark energy, in many countries around the world, and where appropriate, neutralising ( using energy ) the people responsible, so they cannot do it again.

So why have I been drawn to contact you ?

You are doing a great job attacking what I refer to as the " World Management Team " The Masonic / Catholic club currently running the globe for their own benefit, and a standard procedure on their part is to aim spells / curses, etc at you as you come to their notice. This can affect any aspect of what you do... health of you and / or your team or supporters / connections, phone lines, computer equipment, etc and needs to be dealt with to keep you free of these energies so you can work against them at full capacity. So I am offering my services to you to first clear you ( there is some dark rubbish around you now ) and keep you clear in future.

It is vital that those of us who are prepared to stand... stand together... especially now, and things are changing fast as I think you knowI shall look forward to hearing your thoughts, perhaps we could meet sometime

Love and Light to you

DUDLEY

DUDLEY - I HOPE THE GOODWILL BROADCAST FROM PEOPLE SUCH AS YOURSELF IS OF EQUAL POWER TO THE NEGATIVE ONE FROM THE DARK SIDE. I WOULD LIKE TO MEET IN A MONTH OR TWO - WHEN I GET BACK TO THE UK. I HAVEN'T HAD EXACTLY SIMILAR TO THE EXPERIENCES YOU DESCRIBE, YET I HAD DINNER LAST WEEK WITH A GENTLEMAN JUST LAST WEEK WHO WAS SAYING VERY SIMILAR THINGS, AND HAD HIS LIFE TURNED UPSIDE DOWN BY A VISITATION. NOW WE KNOW WHY JULIA GETS SO MUCH UNEXPLAINED TROUBLE WITH HER COMPUTER EQUIPMENT. WASP too.

Henry

From the above website -

OVER THE LAST CENTURY SCIENTISTS HAVE INCREASINGLY BECOME EXCITED ABOUT THE THEORIES OF QUANTUM MECHANICS. THE IDEA THAT EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED TO EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE UNIVERSE, THAT A CHANGE IN A SINGLE ATOM ON EARTH MAY INSTANTANEOUSLY REQUIRE A CHANGE IN AN ATOM LIGHT YEARS AWAY OR EVEN RESULT IN A CHAIN OF EVENTS STRIKING THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE. WE INCREASINGLY ACCEPT THESE IDEAS JUST AS WE ACCEPT THAT IF WE POST AN ENTRY ON OUR COMPUTER IT CAN BE SIMULTANEOUSLY READ BY SOMEONE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD.

IN TRUTH..

we are only now learning what those who believe in the spiritual web of energy have known for thousands of years. We are all connected, a web of energy and effect binds us and we can affect others who we have never met or who have passed on. It is this energy field which drew Dudley into his spiritual journey and which now weaves itself throughout his life.Call them ghosts, call them spirits, poltergeists or a host of other names. When we pass on we can sometimes become stuck in the astral plane, unable to move into the light. Dudley works with these energies, showing them the way to be free. We've all met someone who has had such a run of bad luck that they might almost be cursed. Well in truth they might have been. Ill health, changed personality, bad luck, personal disasters could all be caused by a curse. Dudley works to lift the curse and protect people in the future as well as showing people how to shield themselves from harm. And just as we can communicate across the world on the web, so Dudley works in the web of energy shielding and helping people across the world. For more information and to hear about some real cases which Dudley has worked on pop in to see him or chat to him via his e-mail address or Facebook.

FULL MOON - The Full Moon rises at sunset and sets at sunrise. Astrologically the Sun and Moon are in "opposition "(opposite each other in sky and in opposite signs of the zodiac). She s visible from the time she rises until she sets. She opens and blossoms during the Full Moon into the FLOWER, with the desire to share her beauty with others. Those who are born during a Full Moon enjoy companship and partnership and desire to merge deeply. Fulfillment and illumination are their goals. Keywords for the Full Moon phase are: fulfillment, illumination, realization and experience. This is the time in a lunar cycle that you are given a clear view so that you can make adjustments to put you back on track to manifesting the goals you set at the new phase. Go to a public place. Do something with a friend. LISTEN. Receive awareness. Understand others.

This is FREYA'S DAY - Venus Day, Day of Sharing and Relationships. There are Major magickal energies for Arts and Crafts before the Moon goes void of course. Create something to present at your Full Moon ritual.

This Full Moon is called an astrological 'blue moon' as it is the second one in a row in the Cardinal Fire Sign of Aries. So, ok, the moon only in Aries for about an hour as it reaches full or in one degree of Aries if you want to be technical but the Aries energies will still be vibrating in the air as the moon reaches it's Full Phase and hangs there for a little while. Then it will move into mellower, earthier Taurus. What does Luna's placement in this changing of signs mean for us? Aries represents our warrior spirit, the place within ourselves where we must learn to develop will power and courage. Often, we will face obstacles where Aries or Mars energy is involved, whether they come from inner or outer resistance. Look at its placement in your chart for even deeper understanding for how this Moon (or planet Mars and the Aries cusp) affect you on a more personal level.

In the Seasons of the Witch datebook this is called MOON OF THE MUSE. The Greek Muses were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, the goddess of Memory. The number of Muses varies over time. Initially there was but one, and later there is mention of three: Melete, Mneme, and Aoede (the Elder Muses). But now there is usually mention of nine muses: Calliope, Clio, Erato, Eulerpe, Melpomene, Polyhymina, Terpsichore, Thaila, and Urania, the Younger Muses. These are the Greek goddess of art and inspiration and are probably the most familiar ancient divinities today. They were raised by the hunter Chrotus, who was transported after death into the sky as Sagittarius. They are believed to inspire all artists, especially poets, philosophers and musicians. The Muses were venerated throughout Greece, but more so in those areas with many wells and springs. From their name words such as music, museum, and mosaic are derived.

"Nine Muses. Blessed Be!"Gentle goddesses, hear my plea. "What the world needs now the most"is inspiration"and good French toast. From "Season of the Witch 2010 Datebook"

COURT PRESERVES INDIAN HEALTH CARE LAW

WASHINGTON - The permanent reauthorization of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act is safe for now. That's according to a decision by the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit handed down on August 12, which found that some parts of the overall Obama administration healthcare plan are unconstitutional-but not the Indian health law.

The permanent reauthorization of the IHCIA was signed into law in 2010 as part of the larger healthcare reform bill pushed by the Obama administration. Given the controversies involved with some parts of that legislation, especially the so-called "individual mandate" to require Americans to buy health insurance, some Indian advocates felt it would have been safer to have IHCIA pass as a standalone bill. ONTARIO CITY MYSTIFIED BY WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN' UNDERGROUND

WINDSOR - For months, residents of south and west Windsor have been wondering and worrying about vibrations of unknown origin.

And now, those mysterious rumblings under the city have found a new believer - the city's Ward 10 Coun. Al Maghnieh, who says it's time to start taking the phenomenon seriously.

"It's very present and real," he said.

Maghnieh added that those who think the phenomenon is a joke or that its proponents are "crazy" need to grasp the implications in terms of health and the environment. Read full story from montrealgazette.com

A Sunday Quote

A Sunday Quote
"In the ordinary decisions of daily life, we try to base our beliefs and actions on the best evidence we can get. From sitting on a jury to buying a new house, we try to base our decisions on a careful assessment of all the relevant evidence we can get. If, for example, someone used blind faith and bought the first house he or she saw with a "for sale" sign in front of it, but made no effort to get information about the house and neighbourhood, we would consider that person foolish. Why? Because when we use our reason and base decisions on the best assessment of the evidence we can make, we increase our chances that our decisions are based on true beliefs.

Now if this is the case for day-to-day issues, why should we suddenly abandon the importance of reason and evidence when it comes to religion? We should not! Any religious belief worthy of the name should be accepted because we take the belief to be true and do so by the best exercise of our mental faculties we can muster. Applied to Christianity, we want to know if Jesus was really like what the New Testament says he was like. Did he say the things attributed to him in the New Testament? Was he really the only begotten Son of God? Did he actually perform miracles and actually raise people from the dead in real space-time history? Are there good reasons for thinking any of these things is true?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then Jesus Christ has the right to require of us an unqualified allegiance to him. If the answer is no, then Christianity as a total worldview should not be believed or propagated."

Alchemy Review Of Alchemical Sequences Coloured

Alchemy Review Of Alchemical Sequences Coloured
Some of our favorite magic words are actually pictographic. Take, for example, the profoundly arcane Rebus figure of alchemy, conjoining the opposites, or the Ouroboros dragon who guards the treasure of the Great Work. Glasgow's Adam McLean is an authority on the symbolic language of alchemy. He shares his passion for the subject in a hardcover volume entitled Alchemical Sequences Coloured.

It's a meticulous labor of love and a joy to behold and explore. Printed with extraordinary detail on high-quality, silky paper, the painstakingly hand-tinted emblems come to life, inspiring active study to unlock their mysteries. Each alchemical symbol is beautiful and intriguing in its own right, but together the symbols compose the basic elements of a grander allegorical literature.

The very first page of McLean's emblems dispels the popular, romantic misconception of alchemists as gold-obsessed wizards. Two distinct yet complementary faces of alchemy become immediately apparent: the exoteric (EMPIRICAL/METHODICAL/EXPERIENTIAL/SCIENTIFIC) and the esoteric (THEORETICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL/POETICAL/MYSTICAL).

Though there is no one correct definition of alchemy, it may be safe to say that McLean's emblems constitute knowledge meant to float outside of time like a message in a bottle. As Gustav Meyrink suggests in his mystical novel The Green Face, "What is of value is not the invention itself, but man's inventiveness, not the picture - it's value is measured in monetary terms at the most - but the ability to paint.

Any one picture can fall to pieces, but the ability to paint will not be lost, even if the painter should die. What remains is the power that has come from heaven; even if it should sleep for centuries, it always awakens when the genius who can reveal its majesty is born." Indeed, McLean's ability to paint is the true genius of this book.

Highly recommended!

A Pledge To Pagan Spirituality

A Pledge To Pagan Spirituality
(This was found on the BBS Viking Magick, but is obviously the Pledge written and used by Circle Sanctuaries' Pagan Spirit Alliance, and I thus identify it as such for those interested in it and Circle.

-

I am a Pagan and I dedicate Myself to channeling the Spiritual Energy of my Inner Self to help and to heal myself and others.

I know that I am a part of the Whole of Nature. May I grow in understanding of the Unity of all Nature. May I always walk in Balance.

May I always be mindful of the diversity of Nature as well as its Unity and may I always be tolerant of those whose race, appearance, sex, sexual preference, culture, and other ways differ from my own.

May I use the Force (psychic power) wisely and never use it for aggression nor for malevolent purposes. May I never direct it to curtail the free will of another.

May I always be mindful that I create my own reality and that I have the power within me to create positivity in my life.

May I always act in honorable ways: being honest with myself and others, keeping my word whenever I have given it, fulfilling all responsibilities and commitments I have taken on to the best of my ability.

May I always remember that whatever is sent out always returns magnified to the sender. May the Forces of Karma move swiftly to remind me of these spiritual commitments when I have begin to falter from them, and may I use this Karmic feedback to help myself grow and be more attuned to my Inner Pagan Spirit.

May I always remain strong and committed to my Spiritual ideals in the face of adversity and negativity. May the Force of my Inner Spirit ground out all malevolence directed my way and transform it into positivity. May my Inner Light shine so strongly that malevolent forces can not even approach my sphere of existence.

May I always grow in Inner Wisdom & Understanding. May I see every problem that I face as an opportunity to develop myself spiritually in solving it.

May I always act out of Love to all other beings on this Planet - to other humans, to plants, to animals, to minerals, to elementals, to spirits, and to other entities.

May I always be mindful that the Goddess and God in all their forms dwell within me and that this divinity is reflected through my own Inner Self, my Pagan Spirit.

May I always channel Love and Light from my being. May my Inner Spirit, rather than my ego self, guide all my thoughts, feelings, and actions.

SO MOTE IT BE

Meanwhile Witches On The Quilting Front

Meanwhile Witches On The Quilting Front
The two "Any Witch Way" centers are complete except for the eyelashes. My photos are not the best but you can see how bright and fun the colors are. I used a "Fairy Frost" fabric in green and peach for the witches' faces. I love how the sheen shows up, even in these so-so photos!

This one below was the first one I put together. Again, the colors are not true. I'll take another shot of each in daylight once I get the borders/quilting done. All of the fabrics for the hats and hair I bought at JoAnn's as fat quarters. I love this black and white print that reads gray and has flowers and birds-kind of spooky looking I thought.

And below is a closeup of the black hat fabric with the gray swirls. The black multiprint I had in my stash and also the pink for the lips.

I've had lots of fun with this project though it is definitely not for a beginner-I counted 19 pieces for each witch! My witches seem to have very long chins but most witches do, don't they?
