Ok, we are nearly at Ostara and I haven't yet written up my suggestions although I do have an article that will be published any moment now that I will post up when it's ready :)
But Sunday is not too far away - so what am I planning to make Ostara 2011 a special one?!
I have been mainly focused on the fact that 2011 is the Chinese year of the Rabbit and that this links very nicely with the Pagan rabbit (or more traditionally, hare) at this time of year. Here are some of the plans I have made so far:
* The rabbit in many cultures is linked to the moon. Ostara is a lunar festival and it is tradional to plant your seeds at this time of year. The full moon is actually on Saturday rather than Ostara itself and so I am planning on planting my mint on this day instead. (The herbs for Ostara are mint and thyme).
* It is also a pretty traditional activity to take a walk and for those of us with modern lives, it's important to connect with nature whenever we can. I have been doing a Ostara walk for a few years now and did mine yesterday. It was just about the best day, weatherwise, we have had so far this year and it was glorious! I will post this up soon because we actually happened upon what was left behind from a Pagan ritual at some ancient stones!
* The Easter Bunny that we all grew up with gave gifts to all, especially children. So I am trying to think of some appropriate gifts to the children in my family (who have everything!) and also to those who may need a little pick me up or have been through a hard time.
* The rabbit is intuitive and so, as a tarot reader, I am going to be doing a quick tarot reading for myself as well as for a close friend of mine who asked me to take a look for her recently. You can also use a crystal ball if you like. This is always good at a full moon.
* The rabbit is a very lively, energetic creature and I am in need of this at the moment as I have sooooo much going on! So for my Ostara spell, I am going to try and put something together (quickly) to bring about this vibrance and enthusiasm to help me leap out of bed of a morning raring to go!

Magickal Amulets to Avert Danger Used in Witchcraft
An amulet is a magickal object, the purpose of which is to avert danger and evil influence from its possessor. It is a protection device, as opposed to a Talisman. The latter is intended to attract some benefit to its possessor, whereas the amulet acts as an occult shield to repel. These days, people use the term "amulet" to mean good luck as well a a repellent for evil, but the original meaning was to protect.
All kinds of things have been and still are used as amulets all over the world. They are most called on to drive away evil and bad luck generally.
The idea that an amulet needs to be consecrated in order to be really effective, is behind the belief that a "lucky charm" which someone gives you is more potent than one which you buy for yourself. The thought of goodwill behind the gift has in a sense consecrated it.
The usual practice of witches, when giving someone an amulet, is to choose some small object which is strange or unusual, which makes a strong impression on the mind of the recipient. They will then charm the object with some ceremony or formula of words, and give it to the person, usually telling them to keep it secret and not show it to anyone else.
Life being what it is, everyone at some time or other encounters adverse conditions, and becomes prey to depression and negative thinking. Acquiring an amulet can change the direction of their thought, restore their self-confidence, and so really and effectively change their luck.
As I always say... like attracts like. If you feel that someone or something is an evil in your life, then it attracts more evil. Receiving an amulet to ward off the evil can change the flow of the forces to a positive one.

Was he really the only begotten Son of God? Did he actually perform miracles and actually raise people from the dead in real space-time history? Are there good reasons for thinking any of these things is true?
If the answer to these questions is yes, then Jesus Christ has the right to require of us an unqualified allegiance to him. If the answer is no, then Christianity as a total worldview should not be believed or propagated."

"By Michael De DoraRecently while having dinner with a good friend, I touted that Eugenie Scott, executive director at the National Center for Science Education, was rumored to be a speaker at an upcoming conference in New York City. My friend sighed, and lamented while repeating the name "Eugenie Scott...
" as his voice trailed off. The ensuing conversation made clear to me that my friend did not have a favorable view of Scott and the NCSE and that he did not think the NCSE was helping the secular cause.This is not uncommon in my experience. The NCSE - dedicated to promoting and defending the teaching of evolution in science curricula at the local, state, and national levels - is by its very nature controversial.
One obvious source of opposition to its operations is hyper-religious Americans who reject evolutionary theory (but not the modern medical benefits derived from it, naturally!). But the NCSE also receives criticism from some secularists, like my friend. They charge that the organization too often promotes the idea that science and religion are compatible - in some instances by actively supporting liberal forms of religion.
These two criticisms are in no way equal in merit. Evolutionary theory is on firm ground, and those who reject the science are simply wrong. But the second camp might have a point, and that is the topic of this essay.This debate over NCSE's handling of science and religion heated up recently after news that the NCSE is promoting an event that explicitly endorses liberal religion that accepts (most of) the findings of science.
In response, evolutionary biologist Jerry Coyne charged that the NCSE has essentially become BioLogos, the Templeton Foundation-like outfit that tries to find, and spread word of, intellectual agreement between religion and science. I believe this bit of news also bothered my friend, along with a number of bloggers.
This is not the first time Coyne or others have felt put off by the NCSE. So what gives?It seems to me that the NCSE will always be in a tough spot. If they are truly interested in successfully defending science in classrooms nationwide, they will hardly be able to take a neutral approach to religion (even if that is in their stated mission).
Some secularists are bothered by the NCSE working with religious groups that accept science, and by their active outreach to religious groups. Doesn't promoting evolutionary acceptance to religious groups essentially equal promoting the compatibility of evolution and religion? Why reach out to religion?
Yet, considering the NCSE's enormous challenge, and their science-focused mission, they both must and can build wide support. As they note on their Web site:"Our members range from devout practitioners of several religions to atheists, with many shades of belief in between. What unites them is a conviction that science and the scientific method, and not any particular religious belief, should determine science curriculum.
"Moreover, evolution acceptance is a major problem not in the faithless community, but in the faith-based one, so it seems understandable to direct attention there. Still, reaching out to religious groups on evolution is categorically different from promoting or exclusively supporting "liberal religion.
It is one thing to work - under the assumption of (a flexible) neutrality - to form coalitions with, or educate, religious groups. It is quite another to actively encourage religious belief. This is stepping outside the bounds that reasonable secularists, willing to provide some wiggle room, might feel comfortable with.
There is no rationale for the NCSE to do this. In fact, one could reasonably ask: if the NCSE is going to promote liberal religion and religionists, why not also promote pro-science atheism and atheists? As P.Z. Myers wrote in his more centered approach to the issue:"The most glaring discrepancy in NCSE's current policy of so-called alliance-building is that atheists are left out; I presume their support is taken for granted.
But I will note that some ditzy conference by Biologos-types gets front-page attention from the NCSE, while Richard Dawkins can tour the country giving talks on evolution (if anyone had been paying attention, they'd know that most of his talks are about science, not atheism) and be completely ignored.
It's as if the biggest, most popular promoters of science in the world do not exist, simply because they aren't liberal Christians."Again, a large obstacle to the acceptance of evolution does stem from certain types of religious belief, and the NCSE should concentrate on that. But at the same time, why ignore pro-science atheists?
To be sure, Myers is not calling for the NCSE to become an atheist organization. In fact, no one is. The NCSE should not promote either atheism or liberal religion. Rather, Myers is noting the unevenness with which the NCSE treats religion and non-religion. Secularists like Myers have a reasonable case: "As I've said before, said just above, am saying again, and will no doubt have to say a hundred times more, "no one is asking the NCSE to become an atheist organization, and no one is saying that the NCSE shouldn't make strategic alliances with religious organizations".
I'd put it in 72 point type if I thought it would help, but I doubt that anything will." (emphasis in the original)Working with religious groups on defending science in the classroom, or educating religious groups, is fine. But don't promote or support religion, and then also ignore Richard Dawkins and others just because they are atheists.
As Myers notes, the NCSE should openly work with "everyone" who shares the organization's science-based mission - even if he or she is a public atheist - so long as the topic is science, not religion. But while the NCSE deserves criticism, its secular detractors sometimes go too far. There are problems with the event that sparked this recent debate, but Coyne's claim that the NSCE has become BioLogos is unfair.
BioLogos and the NCSE are completely different organizations - in general mission and in their work - and I think secularists should clearly side with one over the other. Of course, I do not agree with the NCSE on every issue, but they are not even close to being BioLogos (yet).Many secularists think the NCSE's stated policy of neutrality itself is a sort of pro-religious stance.
Yet a portion, or perhaps even the whole, of the NCSE's stance on science's inability to weigh in on religious claims stems from the position that science is "empirical, evidence-based hypothesis forming and testing," and thus has epistemological limits. It can't handle certain metaphysical and supernatural questions, though it can inform critical inquiry of some claims more than others.
This is not a matter of promoting the compatibility of science and religion. It's epistemic humility. Indeed, the NCSE does not say that religious belief is "therefore reasonable" (it doesn't need to take the extra step; remember, it's an organization dedicated to science). You might question Scott's philosophy, but it would be disingenuous to charge that she is working for religious belief because she honestly (and I believe rightly) thinks science has epistemological limits.
This brings us back to the widespread sentiment in certain quarters that the NCSE is not really helping. I think that the NCSE is helping, but it is important to remember the NCSE is fighting one small battle within the larger war for rationality, reason, and science. The NCSE's battle is a localized one, concentrating on science education.
They are definitely helping there. The other battle is a much broader one, centered on irrationality and unreason wherever it is having influence. The NCSE plays a lesser, but still crucial, role there. This does not mean the NCSE should be sheltered from criticism. Critique is essential, and the NCSE should be listening.
But let's also not try not to confuse the different scopes of our battles, or else we will lose the entire war. And let's certainly not think that those who fight differently are automatically on the other side. It's not true, and we can't afford that.

ORCHIDIUM
Earth's passage through the summer Solstice of 2013 was an energetic marker for the beginning of a new Chaotic Node.
As your planet undergoes increased climate change, you will see further increases in meteorological novelty and unusual interactions between storm fronts. What used to be called 100-year storms will happen more frequently. These types of storms are outer manifestations of Chaotic Nodes and the escalation of chaos arising from seemingly un For an Initiate, meaning one on the journey to higher states of consciousness, this particular Chaotic Node is, and will continue to be, both extremely challenging and full of possibilities. The challenge has to do with the nature of this unique Chaotic Node, which drives to the surface of your conscious awareness deep-seated emotional toxicity.
One of the challenges that spiritually inclined persons are experiencing, and will continue to experience for some time, is the deep recognition that they have unresolved issues and deep-seated hostilities that may not fit very well with their self-image. Indeed this is a time when self-images will be shattered.
You are seeing this unfold at the international level with governments, and you will see it unfold through all levels of society. But for many it will be the shattering of personal self-image that will be the most difficult to contend with.
What we wish to convey is that your negativity, your toxicity, your despair and your hopelessness-if they are indeed present-need not be a negation of you. Rather they can be portals into the deep unconscious, to the very bedrock of "human subconscious intent".
In the process of self-liberation, you must deal with this negativity in yourself regardless of the methods you may use to free yourself.
THE ORCHIDIUM
We now wish to impart a method for infusing yourself with light and life-enhancing energy. We introduce the method at this time because it will take great fortitude and personal energy to work through this particular Chaotic Node as well as the ones coming to you in the future. We call this the Orchidium.
It is a very simple method that involves a biological metaphor and image. The greatest obstacle and the greatest difficulty with the Orchidium is its simplicity. Human beings tend to make things more complex than they need to be when it comes to this type of work.
In its essence the Orchidium is a means for you to draw into your KA (your energy body), as well as your physical body, high levels of spiritual light and life-enhancing energy-what the Yogis call "prana" and what the Daoists/Taoists call "chi".
In this method you imagine that there is an orchid-like flower in your navel. The central root of this imaginary flower is hollow and is anchored or rooted at a point in front of your backbone, directly opposite your navel. This area is known to Daoists/Taoists as the "Ming-Ma" (or "Seat of Life").
It is from the "Seat of Life" that subtle energy is distributed to your subtle energy body and also to the organs of your physical body. This type of subtle energy has a very deeply nourishing and rejuvenating effect.
When you hold an image of the Orchidium, you imagine that the stamen is extended out in front of you from the center of your navel. (Note: Stamens are the pollen producing reproductive organs of a flower. They consist of a stalk called a" filament" and an "anther" that produces the pollen.) When you create the Orchidium via your imagination, the stamen protrudes from the center of the blossom. For reference purposes, a photograph of a flower with its stamen appears elsewhere in this message.
By its nature the Orchidium draws into itself and then back into the Ming-Ma, spiritual-light and subtle energy from the cosmos.
To engage the Orchidium, all you need do is to imagine this flower in whatever ways makes sense to you so that its blossom is open, and the central root is hollow extending from the navel back into the Ming-Ma. It is crucial for you to understand that the Orchidum draws these celestial energies to you by itself, by its own nature and without you having to do anything.
There is no relationship between the flow of subtle energy into the Orchidium and your breath. Once you activate the flow of celestial energies to the Orchidium, they will flow automatically and unobstructed until you stop them.
Sensitive individuals will soon discover that they can sense the flow of cosmic energies into the stamen of the Orchidium itself, but success does not depend on this level of sensitivity. This type of awareness is simply a refinement. What "is "important is to feel and sense the flow of spiritual-light and energy down the central root, the hollow tube, from the Orchidum (in your navel) to your Ming-Ma and then to enjoy the flow of life-force throughout your subtle and physical bodies as you wish.
We suggest you experiment with this in five-minute intervals so that you become familiar with how the Orchidium works for you and also to avoid over-stimulation.
It is possible to bring too much celestial energy into your system, which is why we suggest five minutes at a time. Five minutes once a day is all that is required to familiarize yourself with the Orchidum and its potentials.
Once you understand how the Orchidium works for you and how much celestial energy you can comfortably bring into yourself, you can experiment with longer sessions if you wish.
After each Orchidium session we strongly suggest you imagine the Orchidium closing so that the blossom is not open. This is for the purpose of self-protection when you enter into the world. Until you have learned how to separate life-positive energies from the life-negative energies that surround you, we suggest you engage this strategy of protection.
ADDING THE AETHOS
While you can engage the Orchidium without any sound or music, in the beginning stages you may find the "Aethos Sound Meditation" very helpful. This is because the pulsations within this sound piece facilitate the movement of celestial energies within the Orchidium root, which connects into your Ming-Ma.
As you listen to the Aethos Sound Meditation, when engaging the Orchidium, pay special attention to the hollow channel, the root, which runs from the Orchidim into your Ming-Ma. The sonic pulsations within the Aethos will amplify the flow of celestial energies into this channel.
PHILOSOPHICAL AND RELIGIOUS OBSTRUCTIONS
While the method of engaging the Orchidium is simple, the consequences in terms of your life-force and your capacity to hold spiritual light are quite complex.
There is another complexity here but it has to do with your belief systems. If you do not rise above these limited beliefs, you will constrain the flow of celestial energies.
You live in a cosmos of exquisite unimaginable beauty, spiritual-light, consciousness and energy. You are an heir to all of these treasures, and each of them imparts to you powers of consciousness-yet you are cut off from your birthright by many of your philosophies and religions.
Any religion that teaches that you have been separated from the celestial light-filled realms because you have a physical body is an obstruction to the truth of your being-as we view it. Any religion that says that you are separated from the heavenly worlds and their treasures through the sin of your birth is also, in our view, an obstruction.
Those philosophies that propose that you are merely a physical being with no dimensions of consciousness transcendent to time and space are, in our view, obstructions as well.
For the sake of experimenting with the Orchidium we suggest you temporarily suspend these beliefs. See for yourself how well the Orchidium works when you actually suspend these limiting thought-forms. After working with the Orchidium in this manner (sans limiting beliefs) you might even choose to leave those beliefs and thought-forms permanently behind you altogether.
When working with the Orchidium we suggest the following thought-forms:
1) Imagine that you are a part of, and heir to, all the treasures of the cosmos-the highest realms of light and the most-subtle life-enhancing energies.
2) Imagine that the Orchidium effortlessly draws into you these treasures whenever you choose to open the blossom.
3) Through the Orchidium, you can experience the transformation of your subtle energy body and the vital organs of your physical body.
Use this enhanced energy and life-force (as well as the light-force) to sustain you as you move through this potent Chaotic Node and the ones to follow.

Tom's Thoughts and Observations
The term Orchidium, as given by the Hathors, refers to "a flower-like mental image" that you create in your imagination. This image does not necessarily look like an orchid, unless you choose to make it so. This is in stark contrast to the actual word "orchidium," which refers specifically to orchids. The Hathors like to play with words, and for them the word orchidium refers to a biological metaphor that you create through your own volition and imaginative powers for the purpose of drawing celestial energies into your subtle energy body (your KA) and into the organs of your physical body.
The important element, here, is that the mental image be a blossom of some kind with a stamen.
Other than this, I think the Hathors' description of the Orchidium is fairly self-explanatory. The only thing I would add to their description is that engaging the Orchidium does not require visualization skills.
You imagine and sense it in whatever way(s) seem natural to you. If you tend to "see" things in your mind's eye, then you might very well have a clear picture of the Orchidium as you work with it. If you tend to feel things, then you will have a felt sense of it. And there are, of course, other combinations of senses that you could imagine the Orchidium with as well.
As for physical attributes, imagine the Orchidium to be whatever size, shape and color you wish to make it. The point in all of this is to create the Orchidium in a way that is most comfortable for you.
I have been working with the Orchidium since 2011, under numerous conditions, and I can definitely verify its effectiveness. I also find the Hathors' suggestion for working with the Orchidium while listening to the Aethos Sound Meditation very helpful. The sound patterns in the Aethos sound piece do actually facilitate the movement of celestial energies from the Orchidium into the Ming-Ma in some very remarkable ways. And so I suggest you give it a try. You will find a link to the 5-minute version of the Aethos Sound Meditation at the bottom of the page.
THE SHATTERING OF SELF-IMAGE
The Hathors are quite clear that this particular Chaotic Node carries an emotional punch. And I can personally attest to a quickening of emotional material since this last summer Solstice-the likes of which I have never seen.
When they were talking about the shattering of self-image and the driving of unresolved emotional material into conscious awareness, one of their turns of phrase caught my eye.
"...your toxicity, your despair and your hopelessness-if they are indeed present-need not be a negation of you. Rather they can be portals into the deep unconscious, to the very bedrock of "human subconscious intent"."
By "subconscious intent", they mean the psychological forces (thoughts, feelings and desires) that we keep hidden from ourselves. As socialized human beings we have all learned how to emotionally adapt to our environment.
And it is my observation that when we, myself most definitely included, are faced with the dilemma of thinking, feeling or desiring something not acceptable by those around us, many of us send those thoughts, feelings and desires underground-into the deep subconscious mind.
It is here in the darkness of "the un-owned self" that these unclaimed psychological forces fester and build. Eventually, they break out into the open or we become secretive about them. In a strange paradox of human nature, some of us become zealots and condemn those who express those very same furtive thoughts, feelings and desires that we have been harboring in ourselves.
I asked my Hathor mentors after receiving this message, why they brought up the topic of "subconscious intent" to begin with. Their response was 1) these subconscious thoughts, feelings and desires create "quantum effects" that are sometimes at odds with our conscious intent. This conflict constrains our creative abilities and 2) we must deal with and transform our deepest hostilities and negativities or be destroyed by them.
In their last Planetary Message, "The Healing Power of the Human Heart" (April 13, 2013), the Hathors gave a powerful sound meditation to assist with this type of clearing. If you are experiencing the type of emotional intensity the Hathors alluded to in this message, I encourage you to work with the "Hathor Heart Chakra Healing Sound Meditation". THE ORCHIDIUM: A VISUAL AID
As the saying goes... "A picture is worth a thousand words." Thus I thought it might be helpful for some readers if I included a photo of a blossoming flower.
The photo is of a Hibiscus, and it is for reference purposes only. Your Orchidium can be any size, shape or color you choose.
The important element in any Orchidium is a blossom that can open and close (according to your own volition) and a stamen. In this case, the stamen is that nubby thing that sticks out from the center portion of the Hibiscus. It is through this stamen that celestial energies (prana or chi) are drawn into the Ming-Ma (the Seat of Life), which sits in front of your spine directly opposite your navel.
From your Ming-Ma these celestial energies circulate into your energy body (your KA) and into the organs of your physical body-imparting a type of spiritual illumination and increased vitality.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I suggest you take a few minutes after working with the Orchidium (especially if you create it in conjunction with the "Aethos Sound Meditation") to just "be" with yourself in silence for a few minutes. Ideally, you would sit or lie down with your awareness in the area of your Ming-Ma. Develop your capacity to sense the flow of chi/prana from your Ming-Ma into the organs of your body and into your subtle energy body (your KA) as well.
It is well worth the time and the effort to develop this type of awareness. The trick is not to rush into outer activity. After creating the Orchidium, spend some time with yourself through inner contemplation of your Ming-Ma.
This energetic pathway (from your navel to your Ming-Ma) is a most auspicious one.
When you were a fetus in the womb of your mother, you were connected to her via the placenta cord and it was through this tether that you were nourished.
At a deep primal level, your psyche recognizes that this is a fundamental channel for receiving life-force. Furthermore, at a psycho-spiritual symbolic level, this channel is also a means to open yourself to the vast restorative powers of the cosmic nurturing feminine-the Mother of All Things.

(Well, I managed to pull a couple of all nighters and got two other parts, so there will be Fighter, Mage and Cleric here.)
Hillsfar
(Well, no-one but me knew my Pool of Radiance party, but it had two Human Fighters(Matthew and Daniel), a Human Cleric(Ben), two Elven
Fighter/Mages(Leanna and Andrew)(Me) and a Half-elf Fighter/Thief(Peter)
My friends and I had travelled to Hillsfar from Phlan, after the battle against Tyranthraxus. Phlan was under re-construction now, and the
excitement and adventures had died down. We were heading to Comyr, in search of further adventures. We had crossed the Moonsea by boat, and had docked near Hillsfar. We needed supplies for our journey, and we were all curious to what was happening inside the city. The guards had some strange
"ideas" about what we were allowed to bring into Hisslfar, and we didn't want to leave our valuable armour and weapons with the guards, so we set up camp some distance from the city, and Matthew and Daniel, stayed behind to guard our gear. The other four of us each headed to the four guilds in the city, to see what we could discover.
Fighter-(Andrew)
The Fighter's guild is located in the North-Western section of the city.
When I reaced there, Caratacus, the guild master insisted that I proved myself in Archery before letting me join the guild. It was 2pm, and the archery range closed at 4pm, so I rushed to Tanna's archery range
(North-East city) and had two tries, winning both times. Tanna then ran up and told me to return to the Fighter's Guild. Caratacus seemed pleased by my achievement, but another requirement to join the guild was to prove myself in the arena. That was easy. My first opponent was a weak orc, who I attacked immediately with an overhead smash (special), which he blocked, then quickly finished the job with a left and a right. The Red Minotaur was not as easy, but he was pretty vulnerable to left, right alternating swings. Back at the guild, Caratacus was pleased, probably about the 150 gold admission fee I had to pay!
Caratacus told me of a guild member who had been carrying valuable documents. He had been killed, and the documents were apparantly still on the body. I broke into the ceremony at night, and found the body. On it was a note that the documents had been taken to the Jail as "evidence". I could never work out who had written the note, or why. The jail door was firmly locked, but smashing it in did wonders! The dart trap missed by a mile, and I walked in. I found the documents in a chest near the door, which I had to bash open, and quickly ran out the front door, before any guards came.
Caracatus was relieved to recieve the documents, and expressed his
gratitude to the sum of 5,000 gold! I knew the other party members would be impressed.
My attention was drawn to a recent murder and robbery at the Castle. Jared Jymn, the suspect, had been seen running towards the Rat's Nest Tavern, In the North-East of town, so I decided to go there and see what information I could find. While listening to various gossip, I heard someone say that the Plumies were still looking for Jared at the Tavern, and that the fellow believed that Jared was scum, and that the guards should be searching the sewers for him. What an insult! Still the sewers seemed like a good place to hide so I went down there. I discovered Hillsfar's great security. What other city can boast of set Teleport traps in their sewers! Anyway, I found a beggar in the sewers, who told me that Jared used to fight in the Arena for a living. After a fight with Ssslander, the lizardman, I talked to him about Jared. He said that Jared had been friends with the old Hermit, and had been there many times. A ride through the woods proved how obedient and well trained my damn horse was, throwing me onto the ground several times.
I swapped the old nag at the Trading post, for a horse called "Lightning",
who liked to run at fast speeds. There was a suspicious poster from the King's advisor, offering a reward of 7,000 gold for Information about Jared. I assumed Jared had torn down the poster. I returned to the Rat's Nest Tavern, and asked the barmaid what interesting information she had heard. She told me that the only area the Plumies had not searched was the Haunted Mansion Secret Rooms. That seemed interesting, so I went to the Haunted Mansion and bashed in the door, taking a poison dart for my efforts. No one can hide secret doors from the elves, and I soon found the Secret door, leading into the secret treasure rooms. The door was in the Northern-most part of the mansion in a rectangular shaped room with a protrusion that had a long corridor leading up to it. The secret door is on the Western wall. Anyway, Jared was in the area, and after telling his story, he asked me to help him by delivering information to the King's daughter, at the Bugbear's Cave Tavern. I argeed, thinking that if he had been lying I could always give the information to the King's advisor. I went to the Tavern, south of the mansion, but didn't find the King's daughter, so I gave the information to the barmaid, and on her advice, left for the Trading Post. When I got there, the Trader told me that the Knig's advisor had framed Jared, and the Fighter's guild was looking to reward the person who had delivered the information. I returned to the guild, and recieved 10,000 gold pieces for my trouble.
Caratacus then told me that Hector Sams' daughter Arlana had been
kidnapped! I went to his house, and he tearfully told me that Arlana had disappeared from the cemetary. At Hector's wife's Tombstone, I found some wilted flowers, and a map to the big tree. The map was interesting, so I went to the tree. In the tree, I found Charlie, who had been attacked by someone with a sling. He asked me to go to Tanna. After a round of Throwing Daggers, I discovered that Tanna was no help at all! I was on my way to the Fighter's Guild when a lunatic called Wak Rathar who asked me if I wanted to see a magic trick. I replied yes, and he teleported me into the Arena, with all the prisoners who had to fight for their lives! I had a very tough fight with a Knight called Morin, barely escaping with my life. I was not impressed by this type of magic. Back at the Fighter's Guild, Caratacus mentioned that Smasher, the Minotaur had been beaten by Hector. I went back to the arena, and had a really easy match with Ottis the orc. After the battle I talked to Smasher, who said that someone had lost all he owned on the fight. I went to the Rat's Nest Tavern, where the story was repeated.
The man was Franklin Smith, who had worked at the Healers shop. At the store, near the Temple, the healer told me that Smith had been seen heading for the quarry. At the quarry, I found a little girls bonnet, which proved that Arlana had been kidnapped. I had been getting used to breaking into houses now, and either the Plumies were getting better, or I was getting worse. I almost got caught, narrowly escaping by using two scrolls of Hold Person. Caratacus had heard of a slave ring operating near Hillsfar, and sent me, and other Fighters around to search. I was asked to go to the ruins. Somehow I just knew the girl would be there. At the ruins I found Smith, and rescued Arlana, who wanted to go home. However, I got caught by those bloody guards, who almost arrested me for buying a slave. I don't think Arlana was terribly impressed. I returned Arlana to Caratacus, who rewarded me with 26,000 gold pieces, and raised my life with his Ring of Wishes. What a waste. I would have just asked for Immortality. After the ceremony, I left Hissfar and returned to Camp, wondering how my friends had fared...
Since I had returned first, I recieved the extreme "honour" of being the one to write a journal for the whole set of adventures at Hillsfar. Oh well. I can't win everything.
Cleric-(Ben)
The Cleric's Guild, the Temple of Tempus, was Ben's first point of call.
He learned that an acolyte had been transporting Scriptures, and he was sent to the Trading post to look for him. The Trader told Ben that the acolyte had gone to the Big Tree for lunch. Ben followed him to see what the delay was about. Ben found that the acolyte had been robbed, and beaten up, and escorted him back to the Temple. After a period of meditation, Ben had decided to return to the Trading Post. The Trader there revealed that someone had been roobed at the Hermit's place. That seemed like a place to start the search, so he went there. He found the scriptures, near the entrance, tossed behind a bush. He picked them up and left through the front door. Ben had also been having trouble with his horse, so he had also traded his horse, for one called "Jumper" who had an annoying habit of leaping all around. He returned the scriptures to the Temple and was rewarded with 1,000 gold.
The High Priest then complained that his incense had been stolen. Ben ran to the sewers behind the temple, and right inside, found a Thief counting money. Ben made a deal with the thief, who told him that he had sold the incense to "Kridar" who was going to the Dragon's Lair for a drink. Despite rushing to the Tavern, Ben didn't find Kridar. A patron said that Kridar had been "living" in the haunted mansion lately, and so Ben decided to inspect the building. Someone had fixed the door after I'd left, so Ben just bashed it in again. A note from Kridar was found in a chest, asking someone to meet him at the hut. The hut was a short journey away from Hillsfar, but Ben didn't catch the two clerics. Instead, he found an old man, who told him the clerics had left for the ruins. At the ruins, quite a far way in, Ben found a chest, along with broken furniture. Opening the chest, he found some of the Incense, which he returned to the High Priest.
The High Priest then told him that the King had caught the two clerics performing a Dark Ritual, and had exiled them from Hillsfar. For returning the Incense, Ben was rewarded with 8,000 gold.
I interrupted his story. "Did you see a mage called Wak Rathar in
Hillsfar?"
"Yes, he teleported me into the arena." Ben replied angrily.
On the way out, back to our campsite, Ben came across a Thief who
explained the problem of a fellow cleric, Brother Serson. The cleric asked Ben for a 50 gold donation, which he readily supplied, and then the cleric asked him to retrieve a wand from the Mage Tower. Ben found the wand, In a secret passage in the tower.
"Where was the passage?" I asked.
"I can't remember." Ben replied "But it was at the end of a long corridor somewhere."
Brother Serson then asked Ben to give the wand to "Dalma". Ben didn't know where to go, but a voice in the Temple told him to go to the Rat's Nest at early evening. Ben met "Dalma", the Rouge who had told him about Serson's problem in the first place. He refused to give her the wand, and she stormed off. Ben returned to the Temple the next day, where Dalma told him she wanted an extra 400 gold from Serson. Ben returned to the Temple and asked Serson what was going on. Serson replied that his daughter was missing, and told him that Dalma, who knew where she was, had a ring belonging to his daughter, and he demander to see the ring before paying the extra gold. Ben returned to the Inn, where Dalma gave him the ring, and took Serson's gold. Ben later discovered that he had been robbed by Dalma.
Well, anyway, he had the ring. He took it to Serson, who said that it was not the real ring. Ben, who was pretty angry by now, went to Dalma's hideout in the Quarry. There, he found Dalma's corpse, along with her killer, who had a bow aimed at Ben's head! Ben reasoned with the person, who told him why he had killed Dalma, and that if she ever had the ring it would be in her secret hide-away. The person had told of Dalma wanting to live in a mansion, so he went to the Haunted mansion, and into the secret passage.(I mentioned it in the Fighter section) Inside he found the ring, and rushed back to the Temple, only to find that Serson's daughter was there! Serson explained that they had an argument, and his daughter had run away, made friends with Dalma, and lost her ring. Still, Ben was given
19,800 gold and some extra Life using a wish, just like me.
"I felt like slapping the girl." Ben muttered, "after all that trouble, and I didn't even ever get my gold back from that thief."
Mage-(Leanna)
The Mage guild is located just south of the castle, in a well sheltered alley.Before going to the guild, Leanna first ate a meal at thee Hydra's Den, in the South-West of town. Biswon, the guild master, asked Leanna to go to the Trading Post, to search for Squid Sepia. The Trader had no idea what the mage meant, and mentioned that there had been a squid washed up at the Dead dragon. At the dead dragon, the squid was found, near a chest, and Leanna tore off a tentacle, and went to a Magic shop to extract the Sepia, only to find that she'd grabbed the wrong part, and the correct bit was an eyeball. Back at the Dragon, someone had removed the squid, but she remembered that the Hydra's den was serving squid dinners. She ordered a squid meal, but there was no eyeball in the meal. When she asked the barmaid, the barmaid said that the Trader at the Post collected eyeballs.
After a trip to the Trading Post, the Trader gave her an eyeball, free of charge. Then, she took the eyeball to the magic shop, and gave the Sepia to the mage, who rewarded her with 1,000 gold coins.
"If only we could have taken spell components." She sighed. "A fireball would have been very nice in the Post indeed."
The guild master then told of a book, that contained foul evil magics, and asked Leanna to go to the Trading Post to look for it. The Trader was a little more helpful this time, telling that the book had probably been taken to a
to exchange the book for the Pendant and 500 gold pieces, and arranged a meeting at the Dragon's Lair,in the North-west area of town. At the Tavern, Eclipe and Leanna made the trade. and she returned the book to the
guildmaster for 5,275 gold.
"A pity." I commented "We could have learned a bit from that book."
Next, she recieved a vision telling her to search the
(located in the north, in a room similar to that of the haunted mansion.)
and open a chest. The last vial of elixer was kept in the ruins, and the third honour was to defeat Taurus the minotaur. That one was hard,
especially defeating Morin. After the battle, Dianne approached Leanna and told her of the fate of her three daughters, and that the guild master knew what had happened. The guild master said that the Minotaur locked the three girls in a mirror of life trapping, which he gave to his minion. At the Rat's Nest, the barmaid said that the Minotaur's servant had hid the mirrior in the mansion. Leanna found the mirror in the secret rooms and broke it, before returning to the mage guild, where Diane had left a reward of 21,500 gold and a life bonus.
"Did you meet a mage called Wak Rathar?" I queeried.
"Yes, he created a pile of gold." Leanna replied.
I scowled. Still, At least now I knew the man was sexist.
We're still waiting for Peter to return. When he does, I'll add his story to this. Apparantly so far he has found some weird potion, Broken into the Temple, raided the Castle Treasury and is now looking for Thieves who robbed the
