Since there is no miraculous bestowal of
knowledge upon the spirits who pass to the otherplane, the inference from Claude's language was his spiritual
contact with the sources of advanced knowledge, and his
ability to echo some of their teachings, without being alive to
the full purport of that which he was transmitting.
This inference is wholly confirmed by the Second Book.
The expert in the psychic sciences recognizes in it, at once, a
marked advance upon the First. The First Book was the work
of a matriculated student in the great Cosmic University. The
hand of the graduate (the possessor, may we say, of a first
degree?) may be traced in the Second. Claude is in nearer
"touch" with the actualities of the other sphere. He is keenly
anxious to explain its fundamental truths in terms of this life;
and as he is now in closer contact with, and possesses a more
incisive appreciation of, the conditions of the life beyond, he
performs his task well. The chapter on Prayer, particularly its
earlier portion, is a perfect gem.

Many unsuspecting patriots proudly stand behind the "Gadsden Flag" as a symbol of eternal disobedience to tyrants, but little do they know that this symbol represents the most evil secret society of them all.
"The Gadsen Flag is a historical American flag with a yellow field depicting a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike. Positioned below the rattlesnake are the words "Don't tread on me". The flag is named after American general and statesman Christopher Gadsden (1724-1805), who designed it in 1775 during the American Revolution. It was also used by the Continental Marines". "In 1751, Benjamin Franklin made the first reference to the rattlesnake in a satirical commentary published in his Pennsylvania Gazette. It had been the policy of Britain to send convicted criminals to America, so Franklin suggested that they thank the British by sending rattlesnakes to England."
Benjamin Franklin was of course a Freemason and a member of the Hellfire Club. In 1998 15 bodies where found under Franklins house while undergoing renovations. That being said it is clear a member of the Illuminati helped in the creation of this flag now what does the Snake on the flag actually represent then?
"BROTHERHOOD OF THE SNAKE", a secret society set up by an alien named EA or ENKI. This story is very carefully told in the Sumerian scriptures, which go back at least 6000 years. There it says man was created by draconian aliens, who came to this planet to exploit its resources - especially gold. But the work was heavy, so the alien race wanted someone else to do the hard work. Thus EA, who was a brilliant scientist, created homo sapiens as a hybrid between a primitive earth life-form and the alien race."
First homosapiens was only meant for slave labor and couldn't breed. Later on this was changed. Ea didn't like, though, how his created race was treated and wanted to enlighten them by telling them who they were and where they came from. He also wanted to tell them the well hidden truth that each individual is a spirit inhabiting a body and that after body death the spirit lives on and reincarnates on Earth.
EA's superiors didn't agree to this, as they were afraid of chaos and turmoil, but Ea told them anyway. The early homo sapiens revolted against their Masters, but were forced to retire. Ea then started this secret society, the BROTHERHOOD OF THE SNAKE, to enlighten people in secret. But he was discovered and judged by the alien laws, which meant that Ea was deported to Earth for eternity - to die here and be reborn here in endless cycles, using fragile, short living human bodies. If this is right, he might still be here...
In the meantime, as time passed by, the "BROTHERHOOD OF THE SNAKE" was infiltrated by the Draconian Master aliens and the knowledge was distorted to trap man instead of enlighten him. The Egyptian Era was in fact real "space opera", with aliens walking around among us, even taking the throne as pharaohs on mostly. By that time the Brotherhood was very infiltrated and its purpose to manipulate the masses, making them believe in false gods and masters.
In the background through all history there are the secret societies. The original Brotherhood soon split up in cults, when certain people on top were in disagreement with each other and different powers of control developed, with them even fighting each other (which still is the case today) totally above an ignorant population.
"They invented the different religions and sects and cults so man would be busy doing something else instead of looking into what the Brotherhood was doing. It was also a way to control people by not telling the truth about God and Jesus, so that people would miss the point and never be able to be set free. Religion has always been connected with guilt and punishment, which is NOT the way it is supposed to be. They put themselves in charge of the churches to entrap people and to spread conflicts between different belief systems. Most wars throughout history have been RELIGIOUS WARS. "
Out of the original Brotherhood came Freemasonry, the Rosicrucians, The Knight Templars, Ordo Templi Orientis, Knights of Malta and more. They all knew, on the highest grades, the truth about the origin of man and that we all are spiritual beings and thus immortal. They know God is the REAL and only source, but they distorted that power as we let them deceive us and used the power of God that we have inside of us for their evil purposes. This knowledge is a very well kept secret and they have done everything in their power to hide the truth from people, and one must say they succeeded quite well. People who for some reason or another have stumbled upon the road to truth has either been ridiculed, slandered or even killed.

Whatever our current, modern thought on Little People and fairies, the fact legends and stories exist of them in cultures around the world is hard to dispute. No other area is a attached to these creatures as England, Ireland, and Scotland possessing some amazing stories of these beings. Sightings of Little People and fairies continue to this day, and perhaps even some of our modern sightings of things we don't understand could be this phenomena as well. Here an example of a recent sighting from the book Fairies: Real Encounters With Little People by Janet Bord:
"Quite recently, probably in the early 1990s, fifteen-year-old Brian Collins was on holiday in the Aran Islands off west Donegal. While out walking early one morning he saw two little men fishing from a bank overlooking the sea. They were about 3 and a half feet tall, dressed in green with brown boots. One had a grey beard and a flat hat. They were laughing and talking in Irish, and suddenly they jumped over the bank. When Brian went to look for them, they had gone, but they had left a pipe behind. He took it back to the house where he was staying, but while there dissappeared from a locked drawer. When Brian saw the little men again, he tried to photograph them and tape-record their conversation, but nothing came out."
The point of the modern day sighting is to really show these events still happen. Fairies vary in size, shape and appearance, but when seen the person involved in the sighting is aware of what they're looking at. As the above sighting shows our movie and storybooks depicting these beings as small, sometimes bearded, and commonly dressed in green or brown may be based on sightings and reports of them. The classic book The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns, and Fairies by Reverend Robert Kirk details the life and culture of these beings. It was believed he got his information from local folklore and tales where he grew up in Aberfoyle, Scotland. A diary of his has since been found directly regarding this subject matter called The Secret Lives of Elves and Fairies; From The Private Journal of The Reverend Robert Kirk where, if you can believe it, he says he conversed and visited these beings where they dwell in the Fairy Realm.
Kirk is not the only person who has claimed to have gone where these beings live. He called it "The Lands Beneath" and said the fairies lived inside the Earth. In the sightings and stories I've read through there seems to be at least a few where people report two different things, or call them different things, but may be the same phenomena. A common one over time is the nature spirit. In the eyes of the witnesses the beings share a lot of smilarities. But can we trust our eyes with this area of the paranormal?
Both of the above
The very nature of these beings makes proving their existence next to impossible. Do we really have to prove if they exist or not to get the bottom of other things though? We already have mountains of information on them going back the last few hundred years. It may be time to use the fantastic to help provide clues and missing pieces to other areas of the fantastic. Other cultures besides the Scottish and Irish thought them to be fact, such as the Cherokee Indians designating a name for them. Perhaps Little People and fairies should be filed under Cryptozoology to make things a little simpler. A couple fairy beliefs and abilities seen and reported by these creatures overlap with other areas of the paranormal.
I don't know what the entire picture of this is supposed to look like, but I hope I'm not the only one looking. In this area one sometimes has to stretch their beliefs and believe for a second something might be possible. Fact is often stranger than things fiction could dream up. Maybe you really did see a small being in the corner of your eye.

Do you believe in fairies? If you would like to learn how to attract fairies to your garden, there are several ways to do so.
More and more people are becoming aware of the fact that, just like angels, fairies exist on an astral level, and can sometimes appear in the physical realm. More often than not, you will need to rely on some psychic ability to be able to see, hear or feel them, but it is possible to learn how to tune in to your inherent psychic skills.
ATTRACT FAIRIES TO YOUR GARDEN
One of the best ways to attract fairies into your life is to make a fairy garden. By designing a natural space that is pleasing to the fairies, they are more likely to gather around your home and work with you. By gaining the trust of fairies, you can form a lasting relationship whereby you are able to benefit from the joy and blessings they bring, while helping to restore the natural balance of Mother Nature.
TEN WAYS TO ATTRACT FAIRIES
* Plant native wildflowers and trees
* Look after your local habitats, not just in your garden but by tending local woods or volunteering with a conservation group
* Feed the birds
* Provide houses and shelters for local wildlife and garden birds
* Share any produce you grow in the garden with the birds - in other words, take down fruit cages and other deterrents!
* Grow a wild area in the garden, and keep the edges of the lawn long for fairies to hide in
* Garden organically and use natural methods to protect plants from pests
* Leave offerings in the garden such as milk or cake
* Play music and ensure there is always lots of laughter and joy in your garden
* Place fairy statues in the foliage
By respecting nature and taking care of the world around you, you are showing respect to the fairies too. I learnt that patience, love and a reverence for nature are very important when it comes to building a relationship with the fairies. Be kind and have an open heart, and you too can learn to attract fairies to your garden.
It is fun and fulfilling to make a garden dedicated to the fairies, and I found lots of helpful ideas at

For several weeks (okay, months) now, I've been struggling with trying to figure out exactly how to put all of my "Pagan home-schooling ideas" (swarming around in my head and written on scattered notes through the house) into wise and meaningful "Lessons" - not only for my own grand-children but for my readers and their families, too. There are dozens of things I want to share, through my (sadly-neglected) Pagan Homeschooling Blog, THE MOONLIT GROVE, to help others who are finding a drastic shortage of useful Pagan-based material for teaching their children.

I received an email from John Gallagher (of Learning Herbs) and realized I've been approaching this all wrong - trying to make this "much more difficult" than it really is! I have been (again) reading Charles Williams (1886-1945) - indeed, I have been reading "C.W" off-and-on since about 1987 (stimulated by Humphrey Carpenter's biography The Inklings).
A major factor in my returning again and again to reading C.W was my failure to understand him and the conviction that I must be missing something important.
I now feel that I understand Williams better than before.
And I am prepared to share this hard-won understanding with my blog readership...
(smiles, looks quizzical, and continues...)
*
This essay by Barbara Newman of Northwestern University entitled "Charles Williams and the Companions of the Co-inherence" was extremely valuable - I just found it last week:
C.W produced poetry, plays, literary criticism but they are inept, and at a very basic level: it is very difficult to follow what is going-on, who is speaking, what is happening and even what has happened.
Indeed, among novels that I have actually finished and re-read, I would say that Williams are by far the worst written: less competent than the worst pulp fiction.
*
The theology is also very badly written.
At first I thought this was because C.W was dealing with profound matters, but this can't be right, since much more spiritually-advanced people (who are much less famous than Williams as writers) are considerably more lucid.
Fr Seraphim Rose for instance, or many other Orthodox Christian spiritual writers such as the anonymous author of Way of a Pilgrim, or St John of Kronstadt; or Roman Catholics such as Pascal, or Aquinas...
But, really, almost anyone is easier to understand than C.W.
The reason is is simple and twofold: firstly, Williams was an inept writer and secondly - on top of that - he was deliberately obscure.
C.W certainly has some interesting things to say, theologically. Interesting, but surely wrong!
Once you have reached the bottom, his main ideas seem not just wrong, but obviously - almost absurdly - wrong.
*
C.W is supposedly a Christian theologian (and is regarded as a great one by many including the present Archbishop of Canturbury - although the present +Cantaur seems so brilliant as to be able to read anything into anything...).
Yet Williams has many bizarre ideas that are (surely?) at odds with Christianity. Sometimes C.W seems not to believe in the divinity of Jesus - which makes him non-Christian.
Apparently he did not believe in the desirability of resurrection, but would prefer death to be an end and a sleep - which means he denies Christian hope.
He believes that all time is literally simultaneous, which denies any direction to history and any meaning to human agency.
(For instance, a modern person can - in Williams' world - accept and thereby reduce the sufferings of people in the past. Including (yes, really) alleviating the sufferings of Christ on the Cross.)
I accept that C.W was much more intelligent and well-informed than I - but this is just nonsense.
And C.W writes frequently and at length of a Way of Affirmation which is supposed to be an equally valid alternative spiritual path to holiness as the ascetic Way of Negation as practiced by the Saints.
Yet Williams' prime exhibit, his only strong and successful instance of a Way of Affirmation is the fictional world depicted by Dante's poetry of love - and Williams provides not a single real life example of a single person ever attaining sanctity by the Way of Affirmation.
Very strange.
*
Williams' vast productivity becomes easier to understand - as a writer he had very low standards.
I am no literary genius (as readers of this blog would willingly testify!) but I would have been ashamed to release such badly-written stuff as Williams poured-out.
With Williams it is not just haste, but I can only presume he had no ability objectively to evaluate his own writing and recognize whether it 'worked' or not.
Or maybe he could see that it did not work, and strove to disguise this obvious fact with deliberate obscurity.
If so, he succeeded with many people, including this writer: it took me a long time to be sure that something like this was going-on.
*
What is indeed remarkable about Charles Williams is now how he managed to write so much but how he managed to "publish "so much!
A second minor miracle is that so much of his "ouvre "remains in print: indeed that "any "of it remains in print is fairly remarkable.
At any rate - and despite my many and serious reservations about Williams writing ability and motivations - I am pleased that so much of what he wrote (and was written about him) is still available.
*
I remain fascinated by Williams as a personality, his effect on other people.
In particular, C.W exemplified in a strong and pure form the horror so many people feel at the shallowness, the banality of mundane worldly existence and the countervailing craving so many people feel for a life in contact with a higher and more real order of things.
Williams' novels depict this in a way which is exciting, inspiring and appealing.
And this was how C.W made other people feel - his friends like Lewis and Tolkien, and his circle of disciples and devotees.
From Williams people got a sense of being in touch with occult reality, a deeper or higher reality; and a stronger sense of being alive and aware.
It seems to me that this was much more a matter of the power of magic than the holiness and love of Christianity - still, for many people and up to a point (beyond which point it became demonic and exploitative), Williams' spiritual charisma could be a step in the right direction: away from materialist nihilism and towards meaning and purpose.

In the past year we have discussed a great deal about magic 2012-in other words, the transition into the Age of Aquarius, the renewal of the Mayan calendar, the interval represented by the year 2012.
You have probably noticed that 2012 is over... so what now? Simple, we move on to magic 2013. Magic 2013 is all about a different kind of magic, and very different from magic 2012. Before we dive in, though, let's take a quick look at the past year.
"MAGIC 2012: A RECAP"
Magic 2012 is probably best described, in magical terms, as an interval. For those of you who are familiar with music or the piano keyboard, an interval is very much like the half-step between two white keys. For those not familiar with the piano keyboard, don't worry. We will explain.
Magically, an interval is a pause in the octave of time. Within this pause, much happens magically. First, it is a time of massive change (and the chaos that can often accompany such a large change). In the Tarot, this is represented by the Tower card. In terms of world change, 2012 represented the first world change in which the planet itself did not bear the effects of the change. In previous world changes, the planet suffered from Wind, Fire, Water and other massive elemental pressures. Entire species were wiped out during such changes, and poles often shifted, with North and South poles changing places. You can imagine the chaos.
The year 2012 was the first world change in which humans were the ones to bear the effects of the world change that is the inevitable result of one age ending and another beginning. Humans elected, a long time ago, to shoulder the burden as a race. In effect, we humans agreed to become a Universal "experiment" to see whether we could use this world change to evolve as a species and avoid being wiped out (as were so many species in past world changes).
Many beings from other planetary systems in the Universe were curious about the results of this experiment and came to bear witness. Some have been walking among us for a few years or a few decades. Others chose not to incarnate and are simply watching from afar.
"MAGIC 2012: WHAT ABOUT YOU?"
So that is the historical perspective of magic 2012. But what about you personally? How did you handle the magic of 2012, and how did you use it?
On a personal level, magic 2012 was about seeing, exploring, and moving through our blind spots. The interval presented the perfect opportunity to make big changes in our lives. The process would have been chaotic, fraught with high emotions, and more than a little scary. But if you DID choose to make major life changes in 2012, you will find 2013 to be a major breeze!
The funny aspect of making changes in 2012 is that while it would have had major benefits for you in the coming years (2013 included), it probably looked to outsiders that you were having the worst year ever. The people we witnessed making the biggest changes and advances in their Spirit paths suffered calamities on all levels: physical, financial, emotional, and mental.
But-and this is huge-these same people also found that the calamities caused them to ask for help from all kinds of sources. The result? These people were literally buried by an avalanche of help. Angels, Spirit guides, helpful people from unexpected quarters, totems, and even some of those observers from other planetary systems all stepped up and gave help, assistance, guidance, information, clarity, and so much more. The affected people were surprised, overwhelmed, grateful, and amazed. And they built some very crucial relationships with allies on many levels.
If you were one of the people who elected to make major life changes in 2012, then you know exactly what we mean. Now, let's move on to magic 2013.
"MAGIC 2013... WHAT NOW?"
So 2013 is definitely upon us and moving at the speed of light. In case you have not noticed, time has sped up since the change in 2012. Everything is faster in this new age. You ask, and the Universe delivers-right now! So be careful how you think and for what you ask. Karma is also the other factor that has sped up. Remember that Beatles' song about "Instant Karma"? We are now living in the age of instant karma. So do try to keep your side of the street clean! You will definitely know if you have failed to do so!
What is happening to those who made major changes in 2012? We said above that life is a breeze for those people... and it is, compared to the rest of the world, that is. Those efforts made at life changes will definitely bring major benefits. However, life will continue to be inconvenient and "stuff" will still happen. The difference is that there is plenty of Universal help and support out there-you just have to ask. In addition, any magic done in 2013 will be greatly amplified and powerful. If life presents you with situations that seems crazy and impossible, look to allies and magic this year as powerful forms of recourse and adjustment.
What is happening to those who chose NOT to take advantage of the 2012 interval? It varies. For those who just want to live mechanical life as always, nothing much will change. Life may get a little more inconvenient, but since they are not really participating in the great experiment of humanity, nothing much changes for them. For those who are conscious and cultivating, change is still possible in 2013... it will just be more difficult and more painful. Part of the reason is that time has sped up in 2013, so the Universe is less forgiving, in a way, of errors in judgment. In actuality, it just means that karma comes around faster than before (not that the Universe is punishing anyone!).
If you have chosen to be spiritually conscious and find yourself coming up against some major barriers in your life, should you still attempt to make major changes in yourself and your life in 2013? Absolutely. Time is only going to keep speeding up and karma is going to keep coming around faster and faster. As inconvenient and painful as changing in 2013 may be (as compared to 2012) the benefits will still be useful.
Our advice? Ask for Universal help (angels, totems, Spirit guides) as much as possible. Look for signs of positive change and guidance everywhere (where you least expect). Do as much magic on a daily basis as possible, since we are moving out of the material world and into a much more energy-based magical world. And when life gets inconvenient and painful, practice acceptance as much as possible, realizing that this is simply the price to pay into change. The results will be definitely worth it - hundreds of times over!

The chief characters in Irish mythology are the Tuatha De Danann. In times of old, these mystical people were often referred to as the Faery. However, the term "faery" (or, more commonly, "fairy") usually brings to mind diminutive little creatures with tiny little wings flitting about the garden. This image, while a part of the Faery Lineage in Ireland, does not represent all that the Faery were.
WHO ARE THE FAERY?
The traditional understanding in Ireland was that the Faery were independent beings living in an immaterial state. They were close to humanity, but not a part of it. They were considered to have a kingdom all their own, and they only seldom made themselves known in the physical world.
They were beings with the ability to change their shape at will, made of light and cloud, and so always fluid. Over time, with the changing beliefs of the people of Ireland, the Faery underwent many alterations, from the powerful and awe-inspiring Tuatha De Danann down to the classic Folk Tale Fairy. As this happened, the Faery Lineage was born.
THE FAERY LINEAGE OF ANCIENT TIMES
Up to the Middle Ages of Western Europe, the development of the Faery was almost completely confined to the land of Ireland and its people. There was a great focus on heroism, magick, and romance.
The Tuatha De Danann are the source of the entire Lineage. They were the gods of the people of Ireland, and are considered to be the most superior and pure form of the Faery. They were at their most powerful during the Mythological Cycle. This group eventually branched into two very distinct groups: the Fenian Heroes and the Daoine Sidhe.
The Fenian Heroes were among the most notable heroes in all of Ireland, existing during the Fenian Cycle. Many of them were descendants of the Tuatha De Danann, and some of them were the De Danann themselves. Many of the Fay served as a part of the fiana, and the Fenian Heroes were not considered to be all that far removed from mortal man.
The Daoine Sidhe existed in about the same time period as the Fenian Heroes. However, these were the Tuatha De Danann who truly did remain removed from humanity, who preserved the purest form of Faery magick, and who were still worshipped as the gods of the Irish pantheon. Eventually, however, even the Daoine Sidhe had to change and adapt.
The Heroic Faery was born out of the Daoine Sidhe. These were the ladies and knights of classic medieval romances, the heroes of the great tales of the era, and were very much like the Fenian Heroes. In fact, it could be said that the only difference between the Fenian Heroes and the Heroic Faery is the time period in which they existed in mythology.
Meanwhile, the Fenian Heroes had become the Medieval Faery. These characters were practiced in magick and sorcery. It is here when the first outside influences begin to creep into Irish mythology. No longer are the Faery the powerful and frightening Tuatha De Danann. They are no longer gods. Instead, they begin to grow smaller in size, and with the coming of Christianity, they are sometimes assumed to be evil.
The Heroic Faery makes one last appearance, merging with the Medieval Faery and becoming the Diminutive Fairy.
FAIRIES IN THE MIDDLE AGES AND BEYOND
With the birth of the Middle Ages, the traditional image of the modern fairy was born. The Diminutive Fairy became connected to death and the departed. Sometime in the 16th century, the idea of the literary fairy is introduced. These fairies are nasty little things, demanding their privacy and pinching those who dare to invade it.
The Elizabethan Age brings about another change in the fairy. Instead of a nasty little thing intent on its privacy, the Elizabethan Fairy is mischievous and bothersome, but not particularly evil. These fairies tend to irritate more than harm.
In the 17th century, the Jacobean Fairy makes an appearance. They are so small that they are difficult to see with the naked eye. These little guys have gossamer wings and, purely due to Puritan influences, are regarded as demons or devils.
The 18th century saw a reversal of this idea. The fairies of this era were flowery little fertility spirits. These little Flower Fairies were said to flit and fly in the most beautiful gardens, entertaining children and delighting anyone who chanced to see them. This version of the fairy is still very much a part of modern folk tales.
The 19th century saw the development of the Folk Tale Fairy. These characters were written into stories created for children, and generally featured characters such as the classic fairy godmother. These creatures were relentless moralists. Like the Flower Fairy, the Folk Tale Fairy has persisted into the modern era.
With the coming of the 20th century, the Age of Faery seemed to have truly come to an end. The gods of Ireland had become no more than fairy tales, and most had forgotten they were ever anything more. However, this same century brought about a renewed interest in ancient religions and beliefs, and today, there are those who have resurrected the ancient Faery Faith in a more modern incarnation, with the inclusion of the Elemental Faery.

Like many Wicca-lite names, Arthur seems normal enough but has a long history.
The etymology of Arthur (pronunciation "AHR-thur" if you speak English, in other languages it can also be "ar-TUYR" or "AHR-toor") is a little bit mysterious. It could be derived from the Celtic elements "artos, "meaning either "bear" or "stone," combined with either "viros", meaning "man," or "rigos", meaning "king." It could be derived from Artorius, an obscure Latin name. It could also be a variant of the Old German name Arnthor, meaning "Thor, the eagle."
But a theory that has been gaining a following amongst scholars is that Arthur comes from the stars. Thy hypothesis is that Arthur is derived from Arcturus, which is the name of the brightest star in the constellation Bootes, which is near Ursa Major (the "Great Bear"). Arcturus is the Latin form of the Greek Arktouros, meaning "guardian of the bear."
The most famous namesake is King Arthur from Arthurian legend, who presided over the Knights of the Round Table. Some believe that King Arthur is based on a real person who lived sometime in the 5th or 6th century. According to Medieval texts, he is responsible for defending Britain against the Saxons. His story varies widely from text to text, so it's hard to pin down historical facts. Most of what we know of King Arthur comes from Gfrey of Monmouth's Historia Regum Britanniae, a fanciful book published in the 1100s. This book introduced many of the key characters and plot points that we now recognize: his father Uther Pendragon, his wife Guinevere, Merlin the wizard, his sword Excalibur, his final battle with Mordred, and his final rest in Avalon. No matter what the history is, King Arthur is a very popular icon. He has long been associated with idealistic qualities like chivalry and purity.
The name Arthur came into general use during the Middle Ages when Arthurian romances became popular. It also enjoyed a surge of popularity in the 1800s due to the Duke of Wellington Arthur Wellesley, who is credited with vanquishing Napoleon. Therefore, there are a lot of namesakes for Arthur, and it's even a popular name for English royalty. But one namesake is particularly important for Neo-Pagan culture: Arthur Miller.
The year after the last of King James I's Witchcraft Acts were being repealed in England, Arthur Miller's stage drama The Crucible premiered on Broadway in 1952. The play is a not-historically-accurate portrayal of the Salem Witch Trials. Of course, The Crucible is not really about the Salem Witch Trials. It was meant to draw a parallel between that time period and McCarthyism, which would have been going strong at the time. The initial reception for the play ranged from mixed reviews from people who believed that it didn't live up to his earlier work Death of a Salesman, to downright hostility. A few years after, Miller himself was questioned by the House of Representatives Committee on Un-American Activities. Nevertheless, the The Crucible won a Tony Award for Best Play, and became a classic. Some Neo-Pagans believe that without this play, the Neo-Pagan movement would have a harder time achieving what would come later. The Crucible helped people see what the Salem Witch Trials for what it was, hysteria gone out of control.
Not only has this name never left the American top 1,000, it has never left the American top 500. It was most popular in the 1880s at #14, and has been steadily trickling down since then. This might make the name feel old to some people. But right now it ranks #389, which is still pretty well used. It is also popular around the world. In 2008 it ranked #6 in Belgium, #7 in Armenia, #79 in Quebec, #266 in Norway, #294 in Canada, and #330 in Scotland. Arthur is a classic. Variations include Arturo, Artair, Artor, Artturi, Artus, Arthwr, Artie, and Art.
Arthur is a sweet, noble boy's name. There are a few Neo-Pagans with this name, but I'm not sure if it's their magickal names that they chose themselves or the names that they're born with. But it doesn't really matter. Arthur effortlessly belongs to both the magickal and the mundane.

The Societas Magica is an organization dedicated to furthering communication and exchange among scholars interested in the study of magic, both in the positive contexts of its expression as an area of necessary knowledge or religious practice (as in early modern occultism and contemporary paganism), and in its negative contexts as the substance of an accusation or condemnation (as in sorcery trials, and many philosophical and theological accounts, both early and late).
The interests of our membership include, but are not limited to, the history and sociology of magic; theological, and intellectual apprehensions of magic; practices and theories of magic; and objects, artifacts and texts either qualified as magical by their creators, or forming the substance of an accusation of magic by others.
The Societas Magica was originally established in 1994 by Richard Kieckhefer, Claire Fanger and Robert Mathiesen for the purpose of sponsoring sessions on the history of magic in the middle ages at the annual International Congress on Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo, Michigan. However the activities of the Societas have expanded with its increasingly diverse membership, and our interests are not limited to the medieval period. We continue to sponsor sessions both at the Medieval Congress at Kalamazoo and also at other academic conferences as proposed and organized by members.

The relic of the monk Joseph is located at Radeni Hermitage in the small city of Targu Neamt in N.E. Romania. On 7 November 2011 his exhumation took place seven years after his repose.
However the life of the monk Joseph is impressive and shows that God is wondrous in His Saints and that God is not silent. One sob, one tear, one Lord have mercy from the depths of the soul, and God forgives all.
Information about the venerable monk Joseph comes from a comment I found by a reader of the Romanian website from where I got the article.
According to this information, the monk Joseph had been a member of the communist party and had around nine children, not all from the same mother. Generally his life did not keep in pace with the teachings of the Church, but he was merciful. He lived in a village near Radeni Hermitage.
The fathers of the Hermitage say that upon entering the Hermitage he would continually weep, and the majority thought that he was deluded. Furthermore his fellow villagers would come who recognized him for his former life and they asked the Abbot to get rid of him from the Hermitage. Many times they wanted to get rid of him.
A little while before he died he was very sick. For about two weeks he was bedridden. Even then the villagers spoke evil of him. He would hear from his window how awful they spoke against him. He forgave them however and continued to shed tears of repentance.
A few days before he died he asked for Communion. The spiritual father of the Hermitage denied this request however because he Communed him a few days earlier. The next day when the spiritual father visited, the venerable monk Joseph told him that an angel of the Lord Communed him. He did not believed him and considered this a delusion.
After his burial a wolf stood at his grave and all night howled without stopping!

In my last three posts, I went through the steps involved to create your own Wiccan magick spell for Samhain. You found the heart of your desire, wrote a memorable affirmation and researched the appropriate correspondences. Now, you will create a compelling visualization.
USE CORRESPONDENCES TO CHANNEL YOUR VISION
Take the appropriate correspondences you selected; in our example, that would be lavender oil or flowers, sage incense, blossoms or leaves and a turquoise stone. Place them on a 9" x 9" square cloth. You could use orange or black to represent Samhain or gold to represent your wish of a job promotion.
Take these items, your Book of Shadows, (or paper), and a pen and find a quiet space to contemplate your intent. If you wish, you can light the incense and play some music. Hold the cloth with the flowers and stones and recite your affirmation a few times and start to visualize your desire.
SEE YOURSELF AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE
In our example, you would picture yourself in the present enjoying your new promotion. Imagine that you are watching a movie and you are the star. See yourself smiling and interacting with your fellow employees. Hear their voices as they speak to you. What does your new office look like? Is there a congratulatory bouquet of flowers on your desk? What is its fragrance? What are you wearing? Feel the fine fabric of your new clothes, or the comfort and style of your new shoes.
CHOOSE THE MOST POWERFUL IMAGES FOR YOUR SPELL
Be sure that the images are large, bright and colourful. Continue in this manner until you have a complete picture of your successful promotion. Feel happy, feel proud and feel joyous.
Now, write the highlights of this experience in your Book of Shadows. Write it in the present tense and include all the important sights, sounds, smells, feelings and colourful pictures. When you read this aloud during ritual, you should be able to transport yourself into that space as though it were reality.
In my next post, we will combine all these elements to create your personalized Samhain spell.
Blessed be!

We're going to look at a lighter subject from a darker point of view today with author Bob Curran who joins us from Northern Ireland to discuss his book "Dark Fairies". He has been investigating the folkloric roots of the fairy kind, and looking myths and stories from around the world - on all kinds of creatures.
This is not a book for those who believe that fairies are friendly, kindly creatures. In ancient times, the concept of fairies was rather different. They were the often-dangerous embodiment of the land, dark and unpredictable spirits that watched humanity with a envious and hostile eye. We talk about Spirits, Superstition, The Origins in the Northern Lands, Elementals, The People of the Mounds, possession and Sickness It gets more and more interesting with Bob Curran in our next hour as we talk about earth lights, plasma phenomena, marsh gas, ball lights, the Brown mountain lights in North Carolina, Cherokee legend and Native American stories about these kinds of energies or spirits. We talk about our modern interpretation of fairies.
Today we use words like UFO's and Grey's that come in the night and abduct people. The stories are the same but some of the names and our interpretation might have changed slightly. ~Red Ice Creations

Title: Enchanted Fairy Ring ~ Image copyright (c) Rainbow Tree (aka Kandice Thompson)
From time to time the Fairy folk feel a need to speak a message for those that want to listen. Each week I do an Oracle Reading with the Fairies to ask their guidance and opinions on life in general. I do this for myself and anyone else who wants to listen or read.
The message received this week encourages us to be honest with all aspects of life and ones inner thoughts. The direct message is "Be Honest with yourself".
Have you felt ill lately? Angy, depressed or irritable even? All of these are symptoms that arise within our core of existence when we are dishonest with ourselves. The fairies feel you are hiding your true emotions and feelings about a situation or important topic. You are urged to admit your true feelings to yourself. The fairies are not asking you to make life altering decisions or changes. They are not even requesting, nor do they wish to see any form of confrontation with another person. However, the fairies are urging you to admit your true feelings to yourself so you may find the ease and relief you seek.
An easy way to get in touch with your true feelings and inner self is by going outside and being in the elements of nature. Go outside and engage in a quiet conversation with the fairy realm that resides in the trees, tall grasses, flowers and near water. Many folks can not yet see or hear the fairies and their realm. Even if you don't experience their existence during this time, they are still there listening to your conversation and thoughts you are projecting. Ask the fairies to assist you with getting in touch with your deepest feelings. The fairies are more than capable and enjoy showing us humans a mirror of our true reflection and feelings. They can see the truth in all things.
The fairies feel you should write or verbally aloud repeat the following affirmation daily:
I am safe to be honest with myself an all others. I speak truth with love and gratitude.
