HOW TO USE RITUAL OILS!

DRESSING OILS - Dressing is the act of using an oil on an item to add the intent or power of the oil. Common items that are dressed would be candles that are to be burned in a ritual, the tools used in spell casting or ritual work such as chalices, athames, and other tools, and even the altar itself. Another frequent use of oils in dressing would be various totems that are carried by a person such as mojo bags or hands, amulets, talismans, rings, and charms. Many people also dress corners of the home, entry and exit doors, and often items that belong to another person, especially the intended of the magick ritual.

ANOINTING OILS - Anointing with oils is the act of placing a small drop of the oil on the body itself. The practice of anointing is written about in the Bible, and is almost certainly older. Oils should be made with ingredients that are not going to cause harm to the skin, but as everybody is different any oil used should be tested in a very small amount to make sure you have no allergic reaction to it. Some folks combine anointing and dressing by anointing the clothes or shoes of the intended or themselves. Anointing with oil is said to add that power or energy to the wearer and they carry this with them all day long.

FEEDING OILS - Using oils to feed an object or totem is very similar to dressing, and quite often totems such as mojo bags, amulets, and other spell cast charms are kept strong for their intent by adding daily to their power with a dressing of oil. Some believe a simple drop or two sufficient, especially on cloth bags, but others like to scrub an amulet or ring with oil thoroughly.

CONJURE OILS - Conjure Oil is another term that overlaps in definition but is the process of using an oil in the act of casting a spell or performing a ritual. Most oils could be thought of as conjure oils. Some oils are more often used simply to dress a candle with one drop while other people might soak a ring in an oil. Either way they can be said to be conjure oils used in conjuring.
