CITRONELLA ESSENTIAL OIL 2 DRAM
Actually obtained by processing leaves and stems of Lemongrass, our Citronella Essential Oil is one of the highest quality and most potent oils you can use in your home. Perhaps most commonly known for its great ability to help repel insects or in producing perfumes and fragrances, Citronella is also of great use upon the altar. There, it can be of great use within your rituals as an anointing oil that can aid in empowering spells of cleansing and consecration or in protective spells of warding. This is perhaps due to citronella`s natural ability to keep away pests and annoyances. It can also be used for this purpose standing alone, used to sprinkle about the home in blessing as a powerful magick in its own right. This is a 2 dram bottle of pure essential oil, for external use only.
* WARNING: Keep out of reach of children

When you are on a magical path, I believe coincidences are worth paying attention to. Here's one that happened to me.
Just as I was thinking I ought to start doing research for my talk on psychogeography at the Pagan Federation London Conference this August, I got the following email: "Dear Bad Witch, Please pardon this intrusion. Given your interest in psychogeography you might be interested to know that my new book On Walking(and accompanying essay 'Enchanted Things') is now available from Triarchy Press."
It wasn't a book I had been aware of previously, but it was about psychogeography. Perfect. The author, Phil Smith, also kindly offered me a review copy - and I enjoyed reading it very much.
In On Walking,Phil Smith describes a psychogeographical walk he made in Suffolk following a route taken by another author, W.G. Sebald, for his 1995 book The Rings Of Saturn.
I've never read The Rings of Saturn, but I don't think that mattered. On Walking is not just an homage to a famous 20th century writer obsessed with the horrors of war and the decay of civilisation. What Phil Smith offers is part travelogue, part visionary journey and part tutorial in how to do psychogeography as well as a being a literary journey. And the English coastal towns he travelled through have inspired many writers apart from Sebald, including MR James, Arthur Machen and HP Lovecraft - all writers I am familiar with.
Phil Smith says: "On the eve of setting out I read Arthur Machen's The Terror, the narrative of which briefly crosses my own intended route at Dunwich Heath. Machen's story is the source for horror master H. P. Lovecraft's fictional 'Dunwich'. Lovecraft transposes the town, a large East Anglian port mostly swept away by the sea in the early mediaeval era, to Massachusetts for The Dunwich Horror, one of the core stories of his Cthulhu mythos."
Psychogeography is often described as a study of the "effects of the geographical environment, consciously organised or not, on the emotions and behaviour of individuals." That study is usually done by walking - or "drifting" - around an area and paying attention into its atmosphere and ambiance. It is an important technique employed in On Walking, although Phil Smith calls it "mythogeography". He describes mythogeography as "...a hybrid of ideas, tactics and strategies. It embraces both respectable (academic, scientific, culturally validated) and non-respectable (Fortean, antiquarian, mystical, fictional) knowledges."
He offers tips on how to approach mythogeographic walks interspersed with descriptions of his own "great walk". These are methods of disrupting our everyday sense of the world around us and helping us to see things differently. They include picking a theme, going somewhere previously unknown, going alone or just with one other person, freeing oneself from usual walking habits and, sensibly, wearing good footwear.
On Walking works on many different levels. As the description on the Triararchy Press website, says:
On one level On Walking... describes an actual, lumbering walk from one incongruous B and B to the next, taking in Dunwich, Lowestoft, Southwold, Covehithe, Orford Ness, Sutton Hoo, Bungay, Halesworth and Rendlesham Forest - with their lost villages, Cold War testing sites, black dogs, white deer and alien trails.
On a second level it sets out a kind of walking that the author has been practising for many years and for which he is quietly famous. It's a kind of walking that burrows beneath the guidebook and the map, looks beyond the shopfront and the Tudor facade and feels beneath the blisters and disgruntlement of the everyday. Those who try it report that their walking [and their whole way of seeing the world] is never quite the same again. And the Suffolk walk described in this book is an exemplary walk, a case study - this is exactly how to do it.
Finally, on a third level, On Walking... is an intellectual tour de force, encompassing Situationism, alchemy, jouissance, dancing, geology, psychogeography, 20th century cinema and old TV, performance, architecture, the nature of grief, pilgrimage, World War II, the Cold War, Uzumaki, pub conversations, synchronicity, somatics and the Underchalk. On Walkingis thought-provoking and extremely well written. If you are a psychogeographer, a keen rambler or just an armchair explorer you will enjoy it. If you are a fan of the works of MR James, Arthur Machen, HP Lovecraft or, presumable, Sebald, you will enjoy it. If you like

May Day is a festival with pagan origins that survived long after Christianity tried to stamp it out, perhaps because it is hard to repress the urge to party when blossom is on the trees and the days are finally warm enough to throw off winter clothing.
On May 1 and over the bank holiday weekend, towns and villages throughout England will be choosing a Queen of the May and enjoying fetes, fairs and carnivals.
It was once also traditional to choose a King of the May as the May Queen's consort for the day. In some communities, a variation on the theme was to dress a man as Jack o' the Green. He was covered in a wickerwork frame dressed in leaves and flowers and would lead a procession through the town, inviting bystanders to join in and culminating in a dance. Unlike Edward Woodward's character in the film The Wicker Man, he wasn't likely to be burnt to death, although fire did play a big part in May Day celebrations.
For the ancient Celts, May Day was celebrated as "Beltane" or the "Day of Fire" - Bel or Belenus was a Celtic god associated with the sun and with heat. Celebrations involved burning bonfires and jumping over the flames and sometimes driving cattle through the smoke to give them the god's blessings. Apparently it was also a cure for parasites. The Saxons also celebrated this time of the year by lighting fires on the evening of April 30 t0 marked the end of winter, followed by games and feasting.
May Day as also a celebration of fertility and an example of this is the maypole, a phallic symbol around which young men and women would dance, holding on to the ribbons until they became entwined. The earliest written records of maypoles in England date from the 14th century but it is likely that they existed before that. In earlier traditions, a tree might have been danced around rather than a cut wooden pole.
For modern pagans - and possibly our ancestors - May Day fertility rites can sometimes be an excuse for a wild party. So, if you are invited to a Beltane ritual, it is worthwhile asking if it is likely to get nude and lewd...
The photograph is of the maypole at Kettlewell, Upper Wharfedale, in the Yorkshire Dales. It was supplied by: www.freefoto.com/.

America is going to hear from a lot of people who are angry with us-more countries seem to target the United States. A change in our collective body is that we realize the import of everything, we feel everything, nobody's numb. But we cannot see which way things are going. It's questionable whether the stock market is repairable, whether the bailout has enough power to turn the economy around. Whatever plan is put into effect: there's something not connecting, it's lacking the force to make a difference, it is not a big enough scrapping of the old-there's too much support for what is down and should be out. Upholding the old stunts the growth of the country. There is missing information at this time when deals are being made, causing more of a division when it comes out. This bailout proposal came right when Mercury retrograde started (September 25th -October 16th) making it more likely that there are hidden aspects to it we'll find out about later. It could delay, not prevent, the inevitable
What's the best use of your time? Be like Dick Cheney, just focusing on what you want to get and going after it, not identifying with the explosions and divisions going on in the world around you. You have to be going somewhere you want to go, keen on following what's near and dear to your heart. Stick with your own plans. Be forceful in pushing ahead with whatever you're good at, and spend as much time as possible in inner realms where you find peace. Commit to less pressure and shorter to-do lists from the outside world. Keep up with exercise routines.
FIRE SIGNS (ARIES, LEO, SAGITTARIUS): There's at least one direction developing circumstances point to that's hot right now-capitalize on it! You get to do what you want to do...the month is yours to enjoy, potentially full of pleasurable activities. You make new conquests and see new money-making path, and what works for you is appreciated by others.
WATER SIGNS (CANCER, SCORPIO, PISCES): You are feeling calm even while exposed to upsets and volatile scenes. Just stay where you are and let things transform around you. It's a time to hold a peaceful place in whatever world you're in. Chances are the spirits grant you a very big new bright idea, plan, or opportunity that has you excited...hop on it!
AIR (GEMINI, LIBRA, AQUARIUS): You may feel you've missed an opportunity, but so much else is happening that's good! You're involved in a re-invention of some sort. You are breaking out of an old form, there's quite a different flower that you grow, a different way you express yourself or bloom. It's a magical time. It's hard to know where the winds are going to blow the seeds you're scattering this month, especially since you're in such an interlocking, interconnected scene. But wherever they flourish, it looks like your opportunities add up to longer-term stability. Happy "BIRTHDAY LIBRA!: " You've been on the right track, working for what you want in your life, and November shows you that success is at hand. This is a more peaceful year because you're better able to maintain peace of mind, and you already made the hard choices-now it's likely that you reap the benefit of previous personally beneficial decisions. Health and wealth-all things material-are in good shape, and most importantly, you are happy to do those activities that support you.
EARTH SIGNS (TAURUS, VIRGO, CAPRICORN): It's as if you're waiting for something and it's getting late...for some reason you experience a slow-down or inability to reach a goal. You may have to change plans because of it. The brand-new is in sight, the old is winding down-and yet at the moment nothing is being produced in either direction very strongly. Change is in the works, though...a new self-identity is forming.

FIRST QUARTER
It's perfectly okay to work ritual on this part of the moon's cycle, but often it's better to use the special power of the first quarter to review work already in progress, or to gain insights into the way spells are unfolding. If you are lighting a spell candle daily, pause in the process of igniting the wick and tune in to know how the spell is forming. Does the energy feel right? Do any new factors occur to you that might improve the end result: for example, you may gain a sudden feeling about the way the goal should manifest, or some details may become clearer and would profit from added visualization. Another beneficial use for the first quarter is to quietly go within in contemplation or meditation and see what needs to be done when the full moon arrives, what magick might be appropriate then, or which areas of your life could benefit from focus and attention.
The moon's quarters are not widely used in magick and ritual, and yet they are valuable stations in the cycle when loose ends can be tied up and impetus gathered before entering the next stage.
[excerpts from: "Praise to the Moon" by Elen Hawke]
Today there are minor magickal energies for working rites and spells for warrior energy and courage.
During the waxing moon time in a lunar cycle the lunar power is constantly increasing and so this is an ideal time cast a spell requiring the fulfillment of a request. The waxing moon is for constructive magick, such as love, wealth, success, courage, friendship, luck or health.

The spiritual path is truly simple. It is simple because it is not about acquiring, accumulating, or achieving anything. It is all about giving up what we don't need. It's about giving up what isn't useful instead of acquiring things with the idea of going somewhere or achieving something. That was the old game. That game which we have been playing for a long time is like a vicious circle. It has no end.
Sometimes the spiritual search itself prevents us from seeing the truth that is always one with us. We have to know when to stop the search. There are people who die while they are searching for the highest truth with philosophical formulas and esoteric techniques. For them spiritual practice becomes another egoic plot which simply maintains and feeds delusions. Amazing! Buddha, God, truth, the divine, the great mystery, whatever you have been searching for, is here right now.

The definition of an illegal order in this government is, unfortunately, anything that goes against the political aspirations of left-wing politicians and their arab puppeteers.
It has little to do with morality and ethics, just as the current government has little to do with morality or ethics.
M
-
The rabbi argues that the whole debate over whether or not to refuse orders is superfluous, as the classification of an immoral order is taught to every IDF soldier in basic training, as the IDF's conscious effort to differentiate itself from the functionaries of the Nazi army who had said they were "just following orders."
The example given in basic training is that of the Kafr Kassem affair, in which soldiers opened fire on Israeli Arab farmers who were violating a curfew, but were doing so because they had not been around to hear its declaration. The soldiers were held accountable in court despite their have been following orders. The principle offered, however, is purposely vague, instructing soldiers that an illegal order is one "which a black flag waves over it."
According to Rabbi Levanon, a frank discussion must be had about whether only the killing of civilians falls under the rubric of an illegal order or whether aiding the enemy, negating the Zionist project or violating clear Torah principles constitute such as well.
Left-wing authors and politicians have often stated that if an order is given to expel Arabs from their homes, they would not only refuse but use violence to oppose it. Famed author Amos Oz once declared "we will lay down on the roads, block the crossings, and blow up the bridges to stop the transfer of Arabs."
In 2004, 185 prominent lawmakers, IDF officers and public figures signed a declaration calling for refusal to take part in withdrawals from parts of the Land of Israel. Signers included Meir Har Zion of the famed IDF unit 101, former Prime Minister's Office director-general Yossi Ben Aharon, writer Naomi Frenkel, Ezra Cohen and the father, brother and uncle of Likud Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu.
Rabbi Levanon believes the red line was crossed in Gush Katif, at Amona and in Hevron. "The expulsion of Jewish families from Hevron on Tuesday was clearly beyond the boundaries set by the Torah as well as by human logic," he said.
The rabbi says a public discussion is necessary because the justice system cannot be trusted to dictate such values as it has demonstrated systematic preference and bias in the past. "The court has become the greatest cause of civil strife in the state. It's impossible for hundreds of thousands of people to have their mouths shut by a court order."
With regard to the actual act of refusal, Rabbi Levanon says that Monday's refusal of elite IDF soldiers of the Duchifat Brigade to take part in the Hevron eviction was not necessarily even connected to the legality or morality of an order. "One of the commanders who was tried [for refusing to take part in the Hevron eviction] was [himself] expelled from Gush Katif," he said. "Is it practical to request from someone who is today [two years later still] living in a caravan in Nitzan, whose family was kicked out of their home, to expel others from their homes? Everyone agrees that if he requests, he should be accommodated. The fact that he had an unwise commander should be looked into."
Rabbi Levanon warned against trying to "strangle" an ideology. "Such a move," he warned, "will only result in finding that ideology in the prime minister's office instead."
Claim That "Rabbis Ordered Them to Refuse" False
Some of the soldiers of the Duchifat Brigade who refused to take part in the Hevron eviction were students in the Otniel Yeshiva, whose Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Re'em HaCohen is a vocal critic of refusal. HaCohen, whose brother Gershon HaCohen commanded the implementation of the Disengagement, told Yediot Acharonot Monday night that despite press reports, the rabbis who the soldiers consulted with actually tried to convince them not to refuse orders. "But we are talking about soldiers being sent to evacuate people they grew up with."
Three of the commanders who refused orders attended HaCohen's yeshiva in Otniel. One was from Neve Dekalim, one from Kiryat Arba and one from Ofakim, in the Negev.
Many of those who refused orders during the Disengagement, most notably Avi Bieber, cited their conscience rather than any religious ruling.
Yesha Rabbis Praise Soldiers
The Yesha Rabbis' Council of Judea and Samaria issued a statement of support for Hevron's residents and the IDF soldiers who refused to take part in their eviction.
"We support and strengthen the pioneers of Hevron who are waging a just and moral struggle against a corrupt and amoral government," the statement reads. "We bless the Israeli soldiers that obeyed the command of their Jewish hearts and did not take part in the expulsion."
The rabbis said that both the residents and the soldiers would in the end be victorious. "With self-sacrifice and faith they will overcome the weakness and defeatism of the government of Israel."
