Grace-Full Leadership: Understanding The Heart Of A Christian Leader
Posted by

/ 2:00 AM /
Having had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Bowling personally as a college student at Olivet Nazarene where he is the president, I first and foremost must say that he lives what he teaches here in this book, the principles are not so much new, but it is a new take on them and a good reminder of things so easily forgotten and taken for granted in modern times. Dr. Bowling has had success as a leader in many, many positions and passes all he has learned down in this book. It probably sounds like I am kissing up to the college pres., but it truly is a great book and I have nothing by admiration for the man.
God has redefined the world of management for the Christian leader through scripture. He isn t focused on bottom lines, demographics, or profit margins; Christ presents the paradox of being a leader and a servant at the same time.In Grace-Full Leadership, Bowling explores the leadership qualities and practices that are distinct within the community of Christian leadership. Discover, when managing first as a Christian and second as a leader, how your company or organization can grow exponentially in spiritual gains an eternity of difference from today's capital gains.

The Myth Of Easter

The Herald of His Grace
The Origin of EasterTh e English name for Easter shows unmistakable
traces of heathenism. Th e name "Easter,"
which is the slightly changed English spelling
of the name of the ancient Assyrian and
Babylonian goddess Ishtar, comes to us from
the old Teutonic mythology where it is known as
Ostera or Eostre. The Phoenician name of this goddess
is Astarte (Ashtoreth), consort of Baal, whose
worship is denounced by Jehovah in the Scriptures
as the most abominable of all pagan idolatry.
Th e English Historian, the Venerable Bede (672-
735), is our only source regarding the use of the
word Easter. He wrote that in Britain the feast
was named Easter aft er the Anglo-Saxon goddess
of spring, Eostre, whose festival was celebrated at
the Vernal Equinox. According to legend, Eostre
opened the gates of Valhalla to Balder, the murdered
Sun god who had brought light to mankind.
2
Although Easter is a religious holiday, we still follow
customs that go back to an ancient festival
that was at this time of year long before Christianity.

2. Robert J. Myers, Celebra ons: the Complete Book of American
Holidays (Doubleday but Easter Sunday can fall
anywhere between March 22 and April 25. Have you
ever wondered why?1
It is one of the glaring clues that something is seriously
wrong with Christendom. Th e Western Christian
religion can't seem to get anything right when it
comes to even the simplest of Scripture truths.
Have you ever really considered if there is any scriptural
basis for Good Friday or Easter Sunrise Services
that are so commonly observed by the religious
community? Additionally, have you ever considered
what Easter Rabbits and Easter Eggs have to do with
the resurrection of Christ or the teachings of God's
Word?
Although millions of people are of the opinion that
Easter and all of its customs are Christian and originated
as a result of Christ's resurrection, it is a historical
fact that the observance of Easter long antedates
Christianity by centuries.

From Symbols in Christian Art & Architecture:
CROSS (ALPHA ">Season: The Sundays after Pentecost, also Ascension Sunday and Christ the King Sunday-
CROSS (ANCHOR)
The anchor ymbolizes the Christian's hope in Christ. This cross was also the emblem of St. Clement, Bishop of Rome, who according to tradition was tied to an anchor and tossed into the sea by the emperor Trajan. Hebr. 6:17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. (NIV)
-
CROSS (ANKH)
See Ankh.
-
CROSS (BAPTISMAL)
This Greek cross is superimposed on a Greek "chi", the first letter of the Greek word for "Christ." It forms a cross with eight arms. Since the number eight is symbolic of rebirth or regeneration, this cross is often used as a baptismal cross.
-
CROSS (BUDDED)
This widely used cross calls to mind the Trinity because of its trefoil end caps. Season: The Sundays aftter Pentecost
-
CROSS (BYZANTINE)
The Byzantine cross is generally used by the Greek Orthodox Church.
-
CROSS (CALVARY, GRADED)
The three steps leading up to this Latin cross represent the hill of Calvary or, more often, faith, hope and love. 1Cor. 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (NIV)
-
CROSS (CELTIC, IRISH)
One of the most ancient of cruciforms, this cross was used by the Celtic Christians in Great Britain and Ireland. Season: All
-
CROSS (CONQUEROR'S, VICTOR'S)
This Greek cross is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC), and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. Season: All, esp. Easter, Ascension Sunday, Christ the King Sunday
-
CROSS (CROSSLET)
A cross formed of four smaller crosses, this form represents the spreading of the gospel to the four corners of the earth. This ornamental version rests on a lattice forming four additional crosses. Season: The Sundays after Pentecost
-
CROSS (EASTERN)
This form of the cross is used primarily in the Russian Orthodox Church. The upper bar represents the inscription, abbreviated "INRI", that Pilate had placed above Jesus' head. The meaning of the slanted bar is lost in legend. One story holds that Jesus' legs were of unequal length, another that the earthquake that came at His death caused the cross to tilt. Another explanation (probably the correct one) is that the slanted bar forms St. Andrew's cross. St. Andrew is believed to have introduced Christianity to Russia.
-
CROSS (EMBATTLED)
This heraldic cross calls to mind the battlements of a fortress or castle, and thus may be used as a symbol of the "church militant" (the church at war, as opposed to the church triumphant - those who have gone to be with the Lord).
-
CROSS (FLEUR-DE-LIS)
Much like the cross fleurie (below), this cross is a reminder of the Trinity and of the Resurrection. Season: Easter, The Sundays after Pentecost
-
CROSS (FLEURIE)
The liliform end caps of this cross remind us of the Trinity. Season: Easter, The Sundays after Pentecost
-
CROSS (GRADED)
See Cross (Calvary, Graded).
-
CROSS (GREEK)
An ancient cruciform with arms of equal length. Season: All
CROSS (HUGUENOT)
This cross was adopted following the 1598 Edict of Nantes that granted French Protestants, known as Huguenots, certain civil rights and protections in a nation that was largely Roman Catholic. Based on a Maltese cross, the design includes eight round points that represent the Beatitudes, four fleur-de-lis with three petals each that represent the 12 Apostles, and a descending dove representing the Holy Spirit.
-
CROSS (IONIC)
This is the form of the cross taken by St. Columba to the island of Iona in the sixth century. Season: All
-
CROSS (JERUSALEM, CRUSADER'S, FIVEFOLD)
This complex form is composed of a central cross made of four tau crosses representing the Old Testament law. The four smaller Greek crosses represent the fulfillment of the law in the gospel of Christ. Others have interpreted it to represent the missionary work of the church - spreading the gospel to the four corners of the earth. Still others have acknowledged the five crosses to represent the five wounds of Christ on the cross (hands, feet and side). The cross appeared on the coat-of-arms Godfrey of Bouillon, the first ruler of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem. It was embodied in the heraldry of the Crusaders. Season: Pentecost, The Sundays after Pentecost
-
CROSS (LATIN)
This most common of all cruciforms reminds us of the supreme sacrifice offered by Jesus for the sins of the world. The cross is empty to remind us of the resurrection and the hope of eternal life. Season: All
-
CROSS (LATIN WITH PROCLAMATION)
These Latin letters INRI stand for the inscription that Pilate ordered placed on Jesus' cross: "Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum" - Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. John 19:19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS. 20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. (NIV)
Season: Holy Week, esp. Good Friday
-
CROSS (MALTESE)
The eight outer points of this cross are symbolic of regeneration. They are sometimes said to represent the eight beatitudes. The cross was the emblem of the Knights of St. John, who were driven from Rhodes to the island of Malta by the Turks. Malta is the island where St. Paul was shipwrecked.
-
CROSS (NATAL)
This cross is shaped like a star, reminding us of the story of Jesus' birth and foretelling the purpose for which he was born. Season: Advent, Epiphany
-
CROSS (PAPAL)
This cross is the official emblem of the papal office. It may be used by none other than the Pope himself. The three bars are sometimes said to represent the three crosses on Calvary. More probably they represent the Pope's three realms of authority: the church, the world and heaven.
-
CROSS (PASSION)
The pointed ends of this Latin cross represent the suffering of Christ at his crucifixion. Season: Lent, esp. Holy Week
-
CROSS (PAT'eE)
This cross is often confused with the Maltese Cross.
-
CROSS (PATRIARCHAL)
This is an ecclesiastical cross that is often seen carried by the patriarchs in works of art. The upper bar represents the inscription placed on the cross by Pilate. It was adopted by cardinals and archbishops as a hierarchical distinction.
-
CROSS (POMM'eE)
The knobs, resembling apples, represent the fruits of the Christian life. Since knobs were used on pastoral staffs in ancient times as symbols of authority, this is sometimes referred to as the Bishop's Cross.
-
CROSS (ST. ANDREW'S)
According to tradition, St. Andrew felt unworthy to be crucified like his Lord, so he begged that his cross be made differently. It is a symbol of humility and suffering.
-
CROSS (TAU)
The tau cross, made from the Greek letter "T", is the simplest of all crosses. It is often used as the cross of prophecy, or Old Testament cross, because it is the traditional sign that Israelites made with lamb's blood on their doorposts in Egypt on the night of Passover. A tau cross is often pictured as the pole on which Moses lifted up the brazen serpent in the wilderness. Season: Advent
-
CROSS (TRINITY)
This cross, with three fleur-de-lis at each point, is a reminder of the Trinity. Season: The Sundays after Pentecost
-

Survey On Political Views Of Pagans
Posted by

/ 2:14 PM /
Hello all. As part of a research project on the political views of Norse Pagans (=Heathens, Asatru members, Asatruar) in the USA. I have devised a poll on the topic for members of this Pagan community. However, after thinking more, I realized it would be useful to also ask members of non-Asatru, non-Norse Pagan groups, about their political perspectives. My hope is to be able to contrast the political profile of Asatru members with other Pagans. At this stage, I am only seeking responses from Pagans in the USA, but this could extend to other countries in the future. The survey is rather crude, only ten questions, but it is designed to at least highlight some broad-brush differences between right-wing and left-wing, conservative and liberal positions. I encourage you to participate either in the Asatru poll, if you are involved with Norse Paganism, or the non-Asatru poll, if you are Wiccan, Goddess-worshipping, Celtic, Hellenic, or other types of Pagan.
Note: these surveys are for USA citizens and residents only. I hope to develop versions for other countries in future, but at this point, USA only.
All responses are anonymous. Neither I nor anyone else will know who you are if you answer this survey. No such information is collected. The system is however designed to allow each person to respond to the survey only one time. You can change your answers up to the point where you exit, but once you do exit the survey, you cannot go back and change answers.
Here is the link for the Asatru survey:
Here is the link for the non-Asatru survey:

I will discuss results at a future date.

Wulvers And Wolfen And Werewolves

WOLF-MEN APPEAR IN THE MYTHOLOGY OF MANY CULTURES WORLDWIDE (RICHARD SVENSSON)
One of the most unusual examples of the werewolf movie genre was the film 'Wolfen' (1981), based upon the novel "The Wolfen" (1978) by Whitley Strieber. Albert Finney starred as a Manhattan detective searching for a mysterious, elusive, and exceedingly intelligent species of highly-evolved humanoid wolf, which has been preying upon humans from the earliest times and is responsible for the werewolf legends but has never been revealed by science. Of course, wolfen are wholly fictional...aren't they?
Front cover of my copy of Whitley Strieber's novel "The Wolfen"; this is the 1992 reissue of Coronet Similarly, world mythology is amply supplied with wolf-headed humans or wolf-men. These include ancient Egypt's jackal-headed god of the dead, Anubis; the evil Thessaly-originating king of Arcadia, Lycaon, transformed into a wolf by Zeus but often portrayed as a wolf-headed man; the cynocephali of India; and even St Christopher, frequently depicted as a dog-headed human. Moreover, the British Isles is famously rich in fabulous monsters, one of which is the wulver - a reclusive wolf-headed humanoid from Shetland mythology, which is covered in short brown hair, lives in caves dug out of steep hills, and enjoys fishing. Once again, however, wulvers are entirely legendary...or are they?
Medieval colour illustration of some cynocephali supposedly sighted by Marco Polo in the Andaman Islands
There is an unsettling number of reports on file describing reputedly authentic encounters with wolf-men. These include the following pair of spine-chilling incidents, each featuring an extraordinary skull and the even more extraordinary events that followed its discovery.
Southwest of the Shetlands is another group of Scottish islands - the Hebrides or Western Isles. According to ghost-hunter Elliot O'Donnell's book "Werewolves" (1912), these were once the setting for a frightening encounter with a decidedly malign wulver-like beast. Several years earlier, O'Donnell had taken down the testimony of the wolf-man eyewitness, a Mr Warren (named as Andrew Warren in an account of this episode included by Graham McEwan in his book "Mystery Animals of Britain and Ireland", 1986), who claimed that his creepy experience had occurred while he was a teenager, staying in the Hebrides:
"I was about fifteen years of age at the time, and had for several years been residing with my grandfather, who was an elder in the Kirk [Church] of Scotland. He was much interested in geology, and literally filled the house with fossils from the pits and caves round where we dwelt. One morning he came home in a great state of excitement, and made me go with him to look at some ancient remains he had found at the bottom of a dried-up tarn [lake]. 'Look!' he cried, bending down and pointing at them, 'here is a human skeleton with a wolf's head. What do you make of it?' I told him I did not know, but supposed it must be some kind of monstrosity. 'It's a werwolf[sic]! he rejoined, 'that's what it is. A werwolf! This island was once overrun with satyrs and werwolves! Help me carry it to the house.' I did as he bid me, and we placed it on the table in the back kitchen. That evening I was left alone in the house, my grandfather and the other members of the household having gone to the kirk. For some time I amused myself reading, and then, fancying I heard a noise in the back premises, I went into the kitchen. There was no one about, and becoming convinced that it could only have been a rat that had disturbed me, I sat on the table alongside the alleged remains of the werwolf, and waited to see if the noises would recommence. I was thus waiting in a listless sort of way, my back bent, my elbows on my knees, looking at the floor and thinking of nothing in particular, when there came a loud rat, tat, tat of knuckles on the window-pane. I immediately turned in the direction of the noise and encountered, to my alarm, a dark face looking in at me. At first dim and indistinct, it became more and more complete, until it developed into a very perfectly defined head of a wolf terminating in the neck of a human being. Though greatly shocked, my first act was to look in every direction for a possible reflection - but in vain. There was no light either without or within, other than that from the setting sun - nothing that could in any way have produced an illusion. I looked at the face and marked each feature intently. It was unmistakably a wolf's face, the jaws slightly distended; the lips wreathed in a savage snarl; the teeth sharp and white; the eyes light green; the ears pointed. The expression of the face was diabolically malignant, and as it gazed straight at me my horror was as intense as my wonder. This it seemed to notice, for a look of savage exultation crept into its eyes, and it raised one hand - a slender hand, like that of a woman, though with prodigiously long and curved finger-nails - menacingly, as if about to dash in the window-pane. Remembering what my grandfather had told me about evil spirits, I crossed myself; but as this had no effect, and I really feared the thing would get at me, I ran out of the kitchen and shut and locked the door, remaining in the hall till the family returned. My grandfather was much upset when I told him what had happened, and attributed my failure to make the spirit depart to my want of faith. Had he been there, he assured me, he would soon have got rid of it; but he nevertheless made me help him remove the bones from the kitchen, and we reinterred them in the very spot where we had found them, and where, for aught I know to the contrary, they still lie."
Quite aside from its highly sensational storyline, it is rather difficult to take seriously any account featuring someone (Warren's grandfather) who seriously believed that the Hebrides were "...once overrun with satyrs and werwolves"! By comparison, and despite his youthful age, Warren's own assumption that the skeleton was that of a deformed human would seem eminently more sensible - at least until the remainder of his account is read. Notwithstanding Warren's claim that his account was factual, however, the arrival of what was presumably another of the deceased wolf-headed entity's kind, seeking the return of the skeleton to its original resting place, draws upon a common theme in traditional folklore and legend.
King Lycaon, portrayed in this 16th-Century copperplate engraving by Italian artist Agostino de' Musi as a ferocious wolf-headed man comparable to the entity reported by Andrew Warren
As documented in "Werewolves" (1933) by the Reverend Montague Summers, an authority on such entities, the second of the two bloodcurdling episodes to be considered here occurred in summer 1888, and featured a professor from Oxford who had rented a holiday cottage in a mountainous area of Merionethshire, Wales. During his stay there, the professor decided to go fishing one day in a local lake, and while doing so he hooked an unusual object that proved to be the skull of an extremely large dog-like beast. Curious to discover more about his unusual catch, he took the skull back to the cottage, but left it in the kitchen when he went out for the evening with a friend, leaving his wife alone in the cottage.
While they were away, the professor's wife suddenly heard a strange snuffling sound outside the kitchen door, but when she went into the kitchen she saw to her horror the face of a terrifying red-eyed beast, seemingly part-human and part-wolf, outside the window, grasping the window ledge with paws that resembled hands. Greatly frightened, she ran back to the front door of the cottage and bolted it - just in time. Moments later, the monster was panting outside, and rattling the door's latch. Unable to open the door, it paced round and round the cottage, snarling and growling with rage as it vainly sought some way to enter, until eventually it departed, leaving the petrified woman shaking with fear inside.
When her husband returned with their friend, they made absolutely sure that the house was totally secure, and then sat waiting with stout sticks and a gun at the ready, in case the wolf-man, werewolf, wulver, or whatever it was, returned - which it did.
HOLDING A FIGURE WHICH MAY RESEMBLE THE WOLF-MAN THAT BESIEGED THE PROFESSOR'S HOLIDAY COTTAGE IN WALES (DR KARL SHUKER)
Later that same night, as the cottage lay enshrouded in a still darkness, its three alert occupants heard the soft crunching of paws upon the gravel outside, then the scratching of nails or claws against the kitchen window. And, to quote Summers, as they peered towards the sound: "...in a stale phosphorescent light they saw the hideous mask of a wolf with the eyes of a man glaring through the glass, eyes that were red with hellish rage". They raced to the door, but their quarry had heard them, and as they opened it they could just discern a huge form racing into the lake, and disappearing from view beneath the surface.
There seemed only one way of bringing this living nightmare to a close. So as soon as it was light, the professor left the cottage, rowed out into the lake, and hurled the mysterious skull as far as possible into the lake's depths. Returning the skull from whence it had come evidently restored an equilibrium of sorts, because its semi-lupine seeker never returned.
Coupled with its melodramatic storyline, this case's absence of names via which its details could be independently checked or pursued by other researchers does not bode well for its verisimilitude. Of course, it could be that the professor and the others did indeed exist but did not wish their identities to be made public - which, though perfectly understandable, is hardly beneficial in furthering the case's claims to authenticity.
WHAT BIG TEETH YOU HAVE! (RICHARD SVENSSON)
Even more worrying, however, is this case's profound similarity to the earlier one, documented by O'Donnell. In both histories, a large canine skull (one in isolation, the other attached to a human skeleton) is found in a lake (one still containing water, the other dried up), brought back to the finder's residence, and left there in the kitchen during the evening with only a single person in the house. This person is duly confronted at the kitchen window by a terrifying face and hand(s) - presumably a living representative of the skull's species (described in near-identical manner within the two histories) searching for it. Although the entity is ultimately frustrated, it has elicited sufficient fear for the skull's finder to return the skull to its place of discovery, after which the entity is not seen again.
All the better to bite you with! (Richard Svensson)
Yet even if we dismiss Summers's case as a piece of fiction inspired by O'Donnell's report, there are others still to account for, some of which are again included in O'Donnell's book and McEwan's. Hence it is a great pity that the remains reputedly found by Warren's grandfather were never examined by a qualified zoologist. After all, how often in modern times has science been presented with the skeleton of a mythical entity for formal scrutiny?

Carl Jung On The Incarnation
Posted by
Unknown
/ 11:34 PM /
[Carl Jung on the Incarnation of the God-Man and Sophia.]
Just as the decision to become man apparently makes use of the ancient Egyptian model, so we can expect that the process itself will follow certain prefigurations.
The approach of Sophia betokens a new creation. But this time it is not the world that is to be changed; rather it is God who intends to change his own nature. Mankind is not, as before, to be destroyed, but saved.
In this decision we can discern the "philanthropic" influence of Sophia: no new human beings are to be created, but only one, the God-man. For this purpose a contrary procedure must be employed. The Second Adam shall not, like the first, proceed directly from the hand of the Creator, but shall be born of a human woman. So this time priority falls to the Second Eve, not only in a temporal sense but in a material sense as well. On the basis of the so-called Proto-Evangelium, the Second Eve corresponds to "the woman and her seed" mentioned in Genesis 3:15, which shall bruise the serpent's head.
And just as Adam was believed to be originally hermaphroditic, so "the woman and her seed" are thought of as a human pair, as the Queen of Heaven and Mother of God and as the divine son who has no human father. Thus Mary, the virgin, is chosen as the pure vessel for the coming birth of God. Her independence of the male is emphasized by her virginity as the "sine qua non" of the process.
She is a "daughter of God" who, as a later dogma will establish, is distinguished at the outset by the privilege of an immaculate conception and is thus free from the taint of original sin. It is therefore evident that she belongs to the state before the Fall. This posits a new beginning.
The divine immaculateness of her status makes it immediately clear that she not only bears the image of God in undiminished purity, but, as the bride of God, is also the incarnation of her prototype, namely Sophia. Her love of mankind, widely emphasized in the ancient writings, suggests that in this newest creation of his Yahweh has allowed himself to be extensively influenced by Sophia.
For Mary, the blessed among women, is a friend and intercessor for sinners, which all men are. Like Sophia, she is a mediatrix who leads the way to God and assures man of immortality. Her Assumption is therefore the prototype of man's bodily resurrection.
As the bride of God and Queen of Heaven she holds the place of the Old Testament Sophia.
Remarkable indeed are the unusual precautions which surround the making of Mary: immaculate conception, extirpation of the taint of sin, everlasting virginity. The Mother of God is obviously being protected against Satan's tricks. From this we can conclude that Yahweh has consulted his own omniscience, for in his omniscience there is a clear knowledge of the perverse intentions which lurk in the dark son of God. Mary must at all costs be protected from these corrupting influences.
The inevitable consequence of all these elaborate protective measures is something that has not been sufficiently taken into account in the dogmatic evaluation of the Incarnation: her freedom from original sin sets Mary apart from mankind in general, whose common characteristic is original sin and therefore the need of redemption. The status "ante lapsum" is tantamount to a paradisal, i.e., pleromatic and divine, existence.
By having these special measures applied to her, Mary is elevated to the status of a goddess and consequently loses something of her humanity:
she will not conceive her child in sin, like all other mothers, and therefore he also will never be a human being, but a god.
To my knowledge at least, no one has ever perceived that this queers the pitch for a genuine Incarnation of God, or rather, that the Incarnation was only partially consummated. Both mother and son are not real human beings at all, but gods.
This arrangement, though it had the effect of exalting Mary's personality in the masculine sense by bringing it closer to the perfection of Christ, was at the same time injurious to the feminine principle of imperfection or completeness, since this
was reduced by the perfectionizing tendency to the little bit of imperfection that still distinguishes Mary from Christ. Phoebus loses more lights!
Thus the more the feminine ideal is bent in the direction of the masculine, the more the woman loses her power to compensate the masculine striving for perfection, and a typically masculine, ideal state arises which, as we shall see, is threatened with an enantiodromia.
No path leads beyond perfection into the future there is only a turning back, a collapse of the ideal, which could easily have been avoided by paying attention to the feminine ideal of completeness. Yahweh's perfectionism is carried over from the Old Testament into the New, and despite all the recognition and glorification of the feminine principle this never prevailed against the patriarchal supremacy. We have not, therefore, by any means heard the last of it.

Candle Magick Astral Colors

Candle magick is perhaps the simplest, most effective form of magick. The act of anointing, lighting and burning really gets the practitioner into the mood, and thus attunes himself to the magickal act being performed. I have listed here only *positive* spells, although if you really want to perform negative magick, altering the spells will do that for you. I *heartily warn you against black magick* as all magick (GOOD OR BAD) comes back to the practitioner three fold. Blessed be.
Here is what everyone should know about using color in candle magick:
Red: passion, strength, health, vigor, courage, energy
Blue: calmness, health, tranquillity, wisdom, creativity, patience

Want to know something funny about the statement on the home page?
I helped write that statement. A Christian wrote it. She asked for suggestions from me. It's not even written by a Wiccan. How does that fit into your logic? Those people who "drag this same arguement out over and over again"? Those are people with respect for the Wica and what they do. Those are people with respect for the trouble Trad Wiccans go towards gaining their titles, their knowledge.
"SO PLZ JUST GET OVER YOURSELF AND DROP THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS YOU WHO LOOKS STUPID." In response to this, I'd like to quote one of my favourite Wiccans. "DIAF. Seriously."
LadyMoonDragon said:Im not the one who is immature, nor am I trying to annony anyone. Its always the same people who drag this same arguement out over and over again. Its getting really old period. I believe another person has already pointed out that on the home page here it does say that one does NOT need to be in a coven to be a Wiccan. So plz just get over yourself and drop the issue because it is you who looks stupid.
Hadrien Yugure (Jai) said:I'm curious as to what purpose a post such as this is, other than to seem immature and annoy people that are seriously interested in this topic/have a stake in such a discussion?
There was a discussion on another site I frequent recently about the Holocaust, and whether or not it was 'faked'. If you had said this same comment on that discussion, how do you think they'd have reacted? Have you considered that to some people a topic like this has a similar importance?
Or were you too wrapped up in your own laughter?
LadyMoonDragon said:omg, this just doesnt stop. lmao!

" I suppose it would be significant to all, although just how the effects would be perceived would depend on an individual's personal beliefs and what they are "OPEN" to.
A solstice is a turning point; some people consider a lunar eclipse to be a good time for working on the emotions, for going deep into your own psyche to your inner and hidden aspects; the full moon is believed by some to be a good time for any spells, especially protection and divination, fertility, creativity, healing, knowledge, romance, anything positive that you need to increase; the full moon in Gemini would affect issues such as communication, writing, wit, study, healing and travel.
Based on the above information I personally feel that tonight would probably be a good time for opening the third eye, although I would do this as part of a whole chakra balancing and opening exercise.
The only experience I have had with opening the 3rd eye is as part of chakra opening and balancing exercises done before meditation, which is followed by closing of the chakras which should be done at the end of the meditation. Examples of this type of chakra opening can be found on this page of the Spheres Of Light website. You might like to try the very first meditation in the list, called "THE HEALING ROOM" to experience this.
I hope something here is helpful to you.

Seven Tips On Spotting A Witch
Posted by
Unknown
/ 7:55 PM /
Witches have had a bad reputation in history. They have been scorned by most religious groups and are often portrayed as toothless crones. However, these stereotypes are not true today and most witches or wiccans appear as normal members of society. It can be difficult to know how to spot a witch, but there are a few things that you can look for.
how to identify a witch - howtobecomeawitchcraft.com
First, you probably won't be able to tell by her appearance. Modern day witches look just like everyone else and usually hold normal jobs. While their belief system is different, they are normal, functioning members of society most of the time.
Second, listen to her talk about her thoughts on the female divinity of God. In conversations dealing with God or creators, pay attention to the way that she refers to God. Witches often believe in a female divine being and will refer to that being as Lady rather than Lord.
Third, observe if she has a respect for nature. The wiccan practice today focuses on the power of the eath. Witches feel a strong connection with nature and the earth. Although not every environmental activist is going to be a witch, a constant referring to nature can be an indicator.
Fourth, see if she wears a pentacle. Many religious people wear signs of their faith and wiccans are no exception to this rule. A pentacle is a five cornered star that is enclosed in a circle. This may be fairly large or very small and most people just think of it as a decoration or a piece of jewelry. However, this is usually a sign that the wearer is a practicing witch.
Fifth, see if she regularly lights white candles. White candles are a symbol of purity and witches use them to focus their energy as well as get rid of mental clutter. In her personal space and sometimes even at her job, she may have a white candle present to light during times of stress.
Sixth, see if she uses incense. Many belief systems use incense for varying reasons, so this may not be a good indicator whether or not she is a wich. However, patchouli is a common incense that witches use. It will generally be in a central location in their home and is burned regularly to clear the energy of a space.
Seventh and finally, see if she has a cat or another pet. Most witches have a close tie to animals and a cat is usually the animal of choice.
Be aware that these seven signs aren't always clear indicators that someone is a witch, even the more obvious ones like a pentacle. Of course the best way to find out for sure is to ask a person. However, since many witches prefer to practice their religion in private, they may not be willing to answer that question. These seven signs can help you on how to spot a witch without having a conversation that may be awkward or even offensive to tha person.

Help My Parents Will Not Let Me Be Wiccan
Posted by

/ 7:50 AM /
As Wicca continues to grow in popularity it is understandable that young people searching for ways to make sense of the world and attain spiritual peace will continue to want to explore this path as well. Problems may arise when a teen's parents or guardians do not understand the Wiccan faith, or, worse, are not open to understanding and exploring it for themselves prior to judging Wicca as evil. What should a young person do if confronted with this dilemma? Is what mom or dad doesn't know still going to hurt them? Is it better to abandon all hope of studying Wicca to appease the family?
No matter what lifestyle a teen is exploring within their own natural or constitutional rights, when in mom or dad's home, one must do or not do as mom and dad say. If a teen has a true interest in Wicca that is more than a passing impulse, the opportunity to worship the God and Goddess and practice this faith will await them when they are independent and able to establish their own lifestyle outside of the confines of the family home.
In the meantime, some potential for education or compromise may exist depending on the openness of the family as well as the diplomacy and behavior of the teen. For instance, if Betsy, a 16 year old, introduces her interest in Wicca to her parents openly and shows her parents some positive Say in contrast that Carrie, another 16 year old, becomes more and more withdrawn and secretive with her family. One day her mother is doing her laundry and finds Wiccan literature in a pocket of her jeans. Confused and concerned, Carrie's mother confronts her daughter with her interest in Wicca. An argument ensues and her mother forbids her from practicing Wicca. Her mom has come to associate secrecy and deception with her religious interests, and the opportunity to promote understanding and gain mom's trust lost.
The process of discussing interest in Wicca with a parent can vary but these examples illustrate the need to be open, respectful, and to go the extra mile to educate others. How a teen acts toward their religion and the process of sharing information they have learned with others will go a long way in building bridges vs. burning them. It remains the parents' right to establish limits and rules in their house. A teen who is committed to exploring Wicca will have ample opportunity to pursue the faith in their own independent lifestyle when this milestone occurs. In the meantime, respecting nature, respecting parents as embodiments of the God and Goddess, and respecting Mother Earth are practices that can continue regardless of the title one wears or identifies with and will prepare the teen for a Wiccan lifestyle later on in the future.

The Solitary Wiccan Bible

* Price: 14.96
* Paperback: 270 pages
* Publisher: Weiser
The key to all Wiccan practice is ultimately solitary because developing real growth and awareness begins inside each individual. The Solitary Wiccans Bible is for any reader wanting to go deeper into his or her understanding and experience of Wiccaalone. There are many reasons people seek a solitary path: fear of charlatans, concern about co-workers finding out or being misunderstood by others, or lack of family or social support for Wiccan practice. The Solitary Wiccans Bible uses the metaphor of a solitary pilgrim walking a path and discovering natural and spiritual truths along the way. This pilgrimage is based on the ancient symbology of the Pentagram enclosed in the triple circle. The Solitary Wiccans Bible leads the pilgrim to cross the circles, moving from the Wilderness through the Home and Astral realms, to achieve the central Spiritual realm. Always down-to-earth and easy to understand, The Solitary Wiccans Bible clearly lays out the Wiccan paths so any reader can follow. Chapters include: The Pilgrimage of Wicca
The Pilgrim Enters New Realms
The Pilgrimage of the Pentagram
The Pilgrims Wiccan Magical Path
The Practical Pilgrims Spellwork
The Pilgrims Talismans The Solitary Wiccans Bible provides background and practice in clear, accessible, and often humorous prose, making the book immediately useful to first-time seekers and long-time practitioners alike.

I Would Call This Eclectic Pa

I would call this eclectic paganism myself. By that you can mix up religions that do not normally permit practicing of other religions if you wish to be in them, add and change elements as you wish, all without having to fit it into any particular label. In most religions just because the practices can be very similar, its particular and specific beliefs that tend to separate them out. Many of them would also have you believe if you have certain beliefs or mix certain practices then you cant truly be following either.
This doesn't take away from the validity of what anyone practices by any means. It only questions what one might call their personal form of practice. In the end it is what you feel comfortable practicing and I guess it really is up to each individual what they choose to call themselves, especially if they are in a particular church or coven or what have you.

Putrajaya Urged To Drive Stake Into Witchcraft

Author: The Malaysian Insider
At least once a month, someone complains to Datuk Michael Chong about being cheated by a practitioner of black magic.
The most recent case happened two weeks ago. A Malay woman asked a bomoh to make her more beautiful, said Chong.
She ended up not only losing her cash but also with bruises all over her body after being beaten with a broomstick and other objects by the medium - ostensibly to rid her of an evil spirit.
Chong, who heads the Malaysian Chinese Association's public services and complaints department, said such cases were increasing as mediums prey on the fear of those who go to see them.
Chong told The Sunday Times that one victim lost a whopping RM250,000, the largest sum reported thus far.
Therefore, he supports a recent call by Muslim scholars here to outlaw witchcraft in the country.
On Dec 16, respected Muslim scholar Haron Din, who is also a leader of Islamist party Parti Islam SeMalaysia (PAS), said that a law was necessary to curb the use of black magic because many people had been cheated of their money.

My Mind Week 1 Prayers
Posted by
Unknown
/ 9:13 AM /
Welcome to those who are here today via my Proverbs 31 devotion, "Imprisoned by Shame". {CLICK HERE if you haven't yet read it and would like to!}
Hi Sweet Friends,
I'm so excited to start this "Prayers for a Woman's Soul" 8-week online study and prayer journey with you! I'm picturing your smiling faces over a steamy cup of something warm and wonderful (I'm a hot tea girl), sipping as you read and pray.
* As your prayer journey begins, you will read the chapter assigned to you. Then you will pray for that particular topic for the entire week. This is where your notebook will come in handy. Write down each week's topic, then zero in on specifics.
* Record what you sense God is impressing on your heart. This will become a treasured resource you can refer to later when the same issue comes up (and don't we know that always happens?!). What you've written down will enable you to persevere in prayer and belief later.
* Don't forget to use each week's personalized Scripture verses {"God's Word for Me" at the end of each chapter} as part of your prayer time.
* Each week we will focus in on one particular Scripture verse-it will become our go-to verse as we pray for each week's specific topic.
* We will meet here on my blog every Monday for assignments and direction, then we will do a mid-week follow up on Thursdays to discuss what we've learned and experienced so far! It's going to be wonderful to share our hearts and what we've learned together!
Though we are walking this book study/prayer walk together, you will be doing the chapter reading, and you will be doing the praying. I'll keep us all focused on the week's topic and will introduce a question or two to get our conversation going. I can't wait to read your comments, thoughts, and maybe even your prayers if you're willing to share!
Remember, to participate in this study you will need:
* A copy of the book (you can get it HERE or HERE and many other places...)
* A Bible
* A notebook or prayer journal
If you're new here and just finding out about the study and would like to join (and I'd love you to join us!), all you have to do is:
* Sign up in the RED BOX on the upper right corner of my blog. That's it! On Mondays you will receive your weekly assignment, verse and encouragement; on Thursdays we will do the mid-week follow up. Both will arrive via email after you sign up.
* Don't want to be behind on our study? You can read the Introduction and Chapter One (this week's assignment) for free by CLICKING HERE.
YOUR WEEK 1 ASSIGNMENT
Read the Introduction-it will give you some insight into where I was when my prayer journey began-let me know if you can relate! I'd love for you to share where you are right now and what you are hoping to get out of this study and out of this special time of prayer. And then read Chapter One, "My Mind."
As you read the introduction and first chapter, highlight verses or sentences that stand out to you. Now take time to pray and ask God to help you as you begin this holy habit of praying for yourself. Remember, I will be praying for you throughout these 8 weeks.
Our online study will take place right here on my blog every Monday and Thursday. Optional: If you are on Facebook and would like more interaction, please join me on the "Prayers for a Woman's Soul" community FACEBOOK PAGE daily for a daily question and prayer. I'd love to hear from you there. :-)
Chapter 1 Excerpt from Prayers for a Woman's Soul
"(pg. 16) Though the attacks against our mind can be subtle, God grants discernment when we ask Him. He will reveal to us what we are not always capable of discerning apart from the Holy Spirit: erroneous, potentially destructive thoughts and mindsets."
This week as you pray for your mind, be aware that God will begin showing you thoughts and mindsets that need to change. Allowing God to transform our mind is a good thing, and the beginning of developing healthy, accurate, godly mindsets. This is God's will for us!
This week's verse:
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2) (NASB)"
This week's questions:
* Do you recognize the enemy's assault on your mind this week?
* What specific thoughts and mindsets do you need help changing?

Tarot Card Meaning For The Hierophant
Posted by
Unknown
/ 1:21 AM /
Meanings Upright, Ill-dignified, and Reversed, RX
Rider Waite Smith, and Thoth
THE HIEROPHANT - MAJOR ARCANUM V
Astrological Association: Taurus
Elemental Association: Earth
Occult Name: The Magus of the Eternal
Hebrew Letter: Vau (nail)
Timing: April 21st to May 20th (the same as the Empress). Is also suggestive of an event occurring 'eventually'.
Kabbalistic Path: Between Chokmah and Chesed
"Vau"
The Hierophant tells you to use discernment when choosing how to proceed in matters of faith, religion, and spirituality. You have organized religions as well as spiritual communities to choose from; or you can utilize your own inner connection to divinity.
The Hierophant to many symbolizes much of what is negative within organized religions. This is not an entirely bad card, but when within a religious context, it isn't necessarily great.
On one hand there is the dogma, as well as the hidden private shame of those within the church who profess for us to live an ideal and orthodox lifestyle. But it isn't only leaders within organized religion who have shames to hide; the not so subtle irony lies within them telling others how to live in a way that they do not. Yet so many follow them by their own free choice.
It leads one to ask themselves why this is, in what do these people lack? Perhaps faith in their own ability to connect with source? Faith in their ability to make the best choices? Why do some need an external media by which to conduct their matters of spirit that they are so willing to trust in virtually anyone?
On the other hand, some leaders within religious circles are there due to sincerity of personal beliefs and through a genuine desire to help. The truth is that it's hard to know who you are putting your faith in, if your connection to the divine is other than that which exists within you.
Ultimately, the Hierophant card represents the linking between mind, body, and spirit. He speaks of how to make your spirituality work for you to manifest the life you desire.

1) Wicca is about building and maintaining a relationship with the Goddess and God, it's not about spells. If you're incorporating Witchcraft into your Wiccan studies, then as a beginner you shouldn't even be THINKING about spells yet. You haven't advanced enough in study. Spellwork is advanced practice.
2) Spells cannot change your physical form. They CAN change your perspective of how you view yourself and how others view you, but no physical transformations will take place.
3) Again, spell work is advanced practice and shouldn't be touched until much later
4) A book of shadows is a collection of information you have gathered. You cannot purchase a prefilled book. YOU fill the book. Wands are also created by the practitioner.
5) Look on
