In ZECHARIAH CHAPTER 11, we are given a most valuable glimpse of OUR OWN CURRENT EVENTS from the perspective of ZECHARIAH THE PROPHET... and while, THE FOCUS OF THIS CHAPTER is primarily upon THE PEOPLE OF: LATTER DAY" CANAAN" [ The United States Of America ] and "ISRAEL" [ The People Of Bible Belt ] - its actual and highly important message also pertains to "THE ENTIRE EARTH" in general! Meanwhile, THE TRUE KEY is to be clearly found within: " THE PROPHECY OF THE SHEPHERDS " - that begins with VERSE 4.
Who, or what, are those ' THREE SHEPHERDS '? Well, that's actually simple... but, you're not going to like THE TRUTHFUL ANSWER, that I'll honestly have to give you... after all, THE TRUTH IS NEVER POPULAR! Therefore, without further commentary, let's examine these PROPHETICAL SCRIPTURES recounting: " THE DESOLATION OF LATTER DAY CANAAN "...
ZECHARIAH CHAPTER 11, Says:
" OPEN YOUR DOORS [ GREATLY WEAKEN YOUR OWN NATION ], O LEBANON [ YOU POWERFUL ARYAN PEOPLE ], "THAT FIRE MAY DEVOUR YOUR CEDARS" [ For, I Have Pronounced Your Impending National Judgment ].WAIL, O CYPRUS [ You Descendants Of Tyre ], for "THE CEDAR" [ Your Main Mast ] has fallen, And because "THE MIGHTY TREES" [ YOUR: "GREAT" And "POWERFUL MEN" ] are ruined [ Have All Been Led Greatly Astray ]. Wail, O OAKS OF BASHAN [ You Children Of Og ], For "THE THICK FOREST" [ Your Great Military Bulwark ] has come down [ Has Been Expended Very Foolishly ].THERE IS "THE SOUND OF WAILING SHEPHERDS" [ Who Have Now Lost Their Flocks ]! For "THEIR GLORY IS IN RUINS" [ Their Flocks Have Been Thoroughly Scattered ]. There is "THE SOUND OF ROARING LIONS" [ THE NATIONS HAVE GROWN ANGRY WITH YOU ]! For "THE PRIDE OF THE JORDAN" [ Your Own Spiritual Pasture ] is in ruins [ Has Not Been Cared For ].THUS SAYS YAHWEH my Mighty One, ' FEED THE FLOCK FOR SLAUGHTER [ Because, That Is What Shall Now Happen ] ', "WHOSE OWNERS" [ THOSE FOOLISH ILLUMINATED ONES ] slaughter them and feel no guilt [ For What They Have Intentionally Done ]; those who sell them [ THE TRAITORS THEN LIVING AMONG THEM ] say: ' BLESSED BE THE LORD [ PRAISE OUR MASTER BA'AL ], for I am rich [ Their Enemies Shall Reward Me ] '; and "THEIR SHEPHERDS" [ WHO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING ON ] do not pity them [ By Proclaiming This Necessary Truth ].FOR I [ THE MIGHTY ONE ] WILL NO LONGER PITY THE INHABITANTS OF THE LAND [ SINCE, THEY HAVE CONTINUALLY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE ME ], SAYS THE MIGHTY ONE. BUT INDEED [ I Shall Allow Them To Pass Under The Rod ], I will give everyone "INTO HIS NEIGHBOR'S HAND" [ To Physically Afflict Them ] and "INTO THE HAND OF HIS KING" [ FOR THEIR OWN SPIRITUAL CHASTISEMENT ]. THEY [ Their Foreign Enemies ] shall attack the land [ To Utterly Destroy It ], and I will not deliver them [ This Mighty Aryan Nation ] from their hand [ When These Future Events Happen ]. SO I FED THE FLOCK [ Within This Very Prideful Nation ] for slaughter [ Providing Them The Choicest Of Spiritual Foods ], in particular the poor of the flock [ FAR MORE THAN THE OTHER NATIONS SURROUNDING IT ]. I took for myself THE TWO STAFFS [ OF MY OWN EVERLASTING COVENANT ]: "THE ONE I CALLED BEAUTY" [ Or: "MERCY" And "GRACE" ], and "THE OTHER I CALLED BONDS" [ OR: "LOVE", "OBEDIENCE", AND "UNITY" ]; and I fed the flock [ Abundantly, Upon Both Of These Things ].I [ The Mighty One ] dismissed THE THREE SHEPHERDS [ "CATHOLICISM", "PROTESTANTISM", and "JUDAISM" ] in one month [ Over A 30 Year Period ]. "MY SOUL" [ THE HOLY SPIRIT ] loathed them [ Was Sorely Perplexed By Them ], and "THEIR SOUL" [ THE SPIRIT OF FALSEHOOD ] also abhorred ME [ We Could No Longer Find Any Form Of Agreement ].THEN I [ The Mighty One ] said, ' I Will No Longer Feed You [ To Those False Shepherds ]. Let what is dying [ Despite My Own Best Efforts ] die [ As It Will Inevitably Do ], and what is now perishing [ Those: "SUN-WORSHIPERS" And "KABBALISTS" ] perish [ For They Are Wholly Unchangeable ]. Let those that are left [ Living Within Their Own: "FALSE CHURCHES" And "ERRANT SYNAGOGUES" ] eat each-others' flesh [ In The Time, That Is Now Coming ]. 'AND I [ The Mighty One ] took "MY STAFF BEAUTY" [ "MERCY" And "GRACE" ], and cut it in two, that I MIGHT BREAK THE COVENANT [ SALVATION THROUGH YAHSHUA ] "WHICH I MADE WITH ALL OF THE PEOPLES" [ UPON THE CROSS ].SO IT WAS BROKEN UPON THAT DAY [ JUST AS I, MYSELF, HAD PROMISED IT WOULD BE ]. THUS, THE POOR OF THE FLOCK [ The Truly Humbled Ones ], "WHO WERE WATCHING ME" [ RATHER THAN FOLLOWING THOSE SHEPHERDS ], KNEW THAT IT [ This Particular Message ] WAS [ Indeed ] "THE WORD OF THE MIGHTY ONE" [ As Clearly Provided, From Within My Own Scriptures ].THEN I [ The Mighty One ] said to THEM [ Those Three Shepherds Of Babylon ], ' If it is agreeable to you, GIVE ME MY WAGES [ For Having Served You Faithfully In The Past ]; and if not, then refrain [ For I Shall Forcefully Compel No One ]. ' So THEY [ These Three Servants Of Babylon ] weighed out for MY WAGES [ In Past Service ] "THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER" [ THIRTY: "WISE" And "TALENTED MEN" ]. AND THE MIGHTY ONE [ Yahweh ] said to me [ Zechariah ], ' Throw it to THE POTTER [ The Holy Spirit ] ' - that princely price they set upon ME. So I took "THE THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER" [ THESE: "WISE" And "TALENTED MEN" ] and threw them into THE HOUSE OF THE MIGHTY ONE [ THAT THEY MIGHT DO HIS OWN BIDDING ] "FOR THE POTTER" [ Who Fashions The Hearts Of All Men ]. THEN I [ The Mighty One ] cut in two "MY OTHER STAFF BONDS" [ "LOVE", "OBEDIENCE, AND UNITY" ], that I might break THE BROTHERHOOD BETWEEN JUDAH AND ISRAEL [ Setting Them Against One Another ].AND THE MIGHTY ONE [ YAHWEH ] SAID TO ME [ ZECHARIAH ], ' NEXT, TAKE FOR YOURSELF "THE IMPLEMENTS OF A FOOLISH SHEPHERD".FOR INDEED, I [ Yahweh ] shall raise up a shepherd [ A FOOLISH RULER ] in that land [ The United States Of America ] who will not care for those who are cut off, nor seek the young, nor heal those that are broken, nor feed those that still stand [ THE VERY LAST PRINCE OF TYRE ]. But [ Instead Of These Things ], he will eat the flesh of the fat [ Among The Wicked Ones ] and tear their hooves in pieces [ Accelerating Their Own Political Demise ].WOE TO THE WORTHLESS SHEPHERD [ Who Serves Only Himself ], And who leaves the flock [ When This Day Of Punishment Comes ]! A sword shall be against his arm [ His Own Followers Shall Seek His Life ], And against his right eye [ My Own Spirit Shall Not Factually Assist Him ]; His arm shall completely wither [ He Shall Be Utterly Powerless To Defend Himself ], And his right eye [ The Spiritually Discerning One ] shall be totally blinded [ Without Any True Scriptural Perception ]. " - "ZECHARIAH 11:1-17".
As you can see, brothers and sisters, THERE ARE TWO DISTINCT MESSAGES FOUND IN ZECHARIAH CHAPTER 11... one, particularly, for: "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"... and, the other, for: "YAHWEH'S OWN CHILDREN WORLDWIDE"! After all, THE JUDGMENT that is now starting here: " WITHIN ISRAEL'S OWN HOUSE " - will soon begin flowing outward TO FULLY ENGULF THE ENTIRE WORLD [ WHERE, THE REST OF YOU NOW ARE ]; and, that's what is fully meant by:
" THE AXE, LIES AT THE BASE OF THE TREES... "
Meanwhile, those long prophesied: " THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER " - that HE RECEIVED in exchange for those: " WORTHLESS CHURCHES OF BABYLON " - have been using LUCIFER'S OWN ILLUMINATI SUBLIMINAL TECHNIQUES against him... for, THE EVERLASTING BENEFIT OF YAHWEH! After all, it's all about: " COMING OUT OF BABYLON "... and then, INTO HIS OWN SPIRITUAL LIGHT.

It is the ideal time for magick that draws things towards you bringing about positive changes. The Waxing Moon represents the Goddess in her Maiden aspect. The Maiden is all about new beginnings, youthful ideas and enthusiasm. The Moon in Capricorn develops strong structure. It focuses on traditions, responsibilities, and obligations. It's a good time to set boundaries and rules. The magickal color of the day is Indigo, and the incense of the day is Rue. Have an amazingly magickal day!

.Buddhist meditation has two aspects - shamatha" and "vipashyana".
We tend to stress the importance of "vipashyana" ("looking deeply") because it can bring us insight and liberate us from suffering and afflictions.
But the practice of "shamatha" ("stopping") is fundamental. IF WE CANNOT STOP, WE CANNOT HAVE INSIGHT.
There is a story in ZEN CIRCLES about a man and a horse. The horse is galloping quickly, and it appears that the man on the horse is going somewhere important.
Another man, standing alongside the road, shouts, "Where are you going?" and the first man replies, "I don't know! Ask the horse!"
This is also our story. We are riding a horse, we don't know where we are going, and we can't stop. The horse is our habit energy, pulling us along, and we are powerless...
We have to learn the art of stopping - stopping our thinking, our habit energies, our forgetfulness, our strong emotions that rule us.

READING: Saint Irene was the daughter of a princelet called Licinius; named Penelope by her parents, through a divine revelation she was brought to faith in Christ and at Baptism was renamed Irene. In her zeal for piety she broke in pieces all the idols of her father, who commanded that she be trampled underfoot by horses. But while she remained unharmed, one of the horses rose up and cast down her father, killing him. By her prayer she raised him to life again, and he believed and was baptized. Afterwards, in many journeyings, Saint Irene suffered torments and punishments for her faith, but was preserved by the power of God, while working dread miracles and converting many thousands of souls. At last she came to Ephesus, where she fell asleep in peace, in the first half of the fourth century. Two days after her death, her gravestone was found lifted off, and her grave empty. At least two churches were dedicated to Saint Irene in Constantinople, and she is also the patroness of the Aegean island of Thera, which is commonly called Santorin (or Santorini), a corruption of "Saint Irene."

Sometimes I forget how long I've been doing this, seriously a very very long time.
We had decided that we needed a new mattress and I wanted to do it "before" I go to "full time" Professional Bohemian and "part time" home office worker. That big change in my life will happen exactly at the Celtic New year, that's right Oct. 31 is when the office I work at will close, although the business will remain but running lean and mean, with a small office in the city and most of our work done on our laptops. My boss has decided that she wants to keep me on part time working from home so I'll still have a suplimentary income and lots more time for my art career. It's pretty exciting, especially now that I'm starting on the Mystical Cats Tarot with teamie Lunaea Weatherstone.

So Dan and I decided that any upgrades we needed at home better happen now while I still have that full time check rolling in, and our mattress had big dips in it where our bodies go, not so nice. In the process of getting our new mattress, I pulled a couple of those flat plastic tubs from under my bed that store tons of old memorabilia in from days of yore...yep, yore. You know, the old days when I used to make promotional art for local rock bands, and my early forays into my current path of spiritual art. I really had fun going through it, so many memories. I kept about half of it, pitching duplicate flyers, notes that didn't mean anything anymore, etc. Some of what I found as I dug through were some "original pieces" that I had created for different reasons, circa 1997-99. I have some small full color art I had made to use for various promotional pieces back when I was Mickie Hodges, before Dan and I got married. I also had a few small pen and ink line art samples that I had made as spec pieces to show as examples of my work from 1999. At the time I was stretching my fledgling wings and sending samples to magazine and book publishers looking for illustration jobs.

I almost put these little gems back in the box to go back into storage until the next time I took a trip down memory lane...almost. Then it occurred to me, these were pretty darned cool and they were just hidden away. Someone might really enjoy having these little drawings. Then I realized that they were almost the right size for ACEO cards. Inspiration had struck! I measured them and I was right. I trimmed them down ever so slightly, three full color pieces, and three pen and inks. I decided that I would add color to the pen and ink ones, and I must say, it was really fun and I "love" the results.

So there you have it, I have 6 new ACEO cards to offer, each one a little history from the Old Wooden Art Table that you can own if you're so inclined. Three unpublished spec illustrations hand inked in 1999 and hand colored with watercolor and colored pencil in 2011. Three colored pencil drawings created in 1997 as promo pieces for my business. All six are one of a kind. I just posted them in our Etsy shop I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed creating them!

I've been buying a lot of e-
Not every library has an e-book collection yet, but my library did. And they had a lot of really lovely titles! I spent days combing through the site, marking things on my wish list and borrowing and reading for the sheer joy of it. But I started wanting more: I wanted to check out I dug all over the website for my library and found an email address. I wrote to explain that I'd like to donate money to buy some specific e- At first, the lists I sent were pretty innocuous stuff. Classic literature. Fiction. Fantasy. Science fiction. Young adult Last month when I sat down to write my check and look at my list, I chewed my lip a little. I have a laundry list of atheist and wiccan and pagan non-fiction I don't want to get my library in trouble. I don't want a local outcry about the liberal taint that has infected our library and how TAXES are being used to CORRUPT our children. And, I'll be honest, I didn't want my librarian thinking worse of me for being one of those Horrible People who read Horrible But I was a kid once in this community. I read
How could I tell an atheist child in my community that I wanted to donate an atheist book but I was afraid of being disliked by the librarian? How could I tell a pagan child that I wanted to donate a book on wicca but I was too timid to even ask? In a burst of guilt, I composed my politely worded little list, sent it off in the mail, and started biting my fingernails for a week.
When my librarian wrote me back to tell me what she'd been able to buy, she was amazingly enthusiastic and supportive. For the first time in this whole year of donations, she actually went over my 100 in order to get 6 I don't know why these
I'm a solitary wiccan, with no desire or need for a face-space community. I'm happy with my internet friends and comfortable in my broom closet. But possibly my comfort with being alone has meant that I've quietly marginalized myself and people like me to the point where I erroneously believe I'm the only non-Christian in my entire state. I've slowly forgotten that though my state is ultimately red in the Conservative/Liberal binary divide, it's really more accurately described as purple: a little bit of each side, mixing together and trying to make the best of it.
I'm writing another monthly check soon for my library, and I'm feeling a tiny bit braver. I want to write out another non-fiction list, another list of I don't know if anyone else wants to read these things besides me, but I "do" know that I need to stop assuming that they don't. Because when I do that, when I assume that I'm the only one, I end up silencing myself more effectively than the most vocal of my opponents.

"Catherine, queen of England, come into the court!"
It was the third call made by the crier, commanded by Henry VIII to stop the queen from leaving the tribunal court convened to inquire into the legality of their 20-year marriage. On that day, June 21, 1529, before a vast room occupied by two scarlet-clad cardinals, nobles of the realm and a throng of spectators, Catherine threw herself at the feet of the man who was desperate to divorce her in order to marry another woman.
Immortalized by Shakespeare, Queen Catherine said:
Sir, I desire you do me right and justice; and to bestow your pity on me; for I am a most poor woman, and a stranger; born out of your dominions; having here no judge indifferent, nor no more assurance of equal friendship and proceedings. Alas, Sir, in what way have I offended you? What cause hath my behavior given to your displeasure, that thus you should proceed to put me off, and take your good grace from me? After finishing her entreaty to an embarrassed and unmoved husband, Catherine rose, ignored the crier, saying, "It matters not, this is no indifferent court for me. I will not tarry." And she left. When the queen reached the sight of the crowd of commoners gathered outside, they cheered for her, the sound of it wafting into the chamber she'd left behind.
It is an unforgettable scene, one that has shaken and moved me each time I read Catherine of Aragon's plea to be spared such a humiliating rejection. Perhaps it was the draw of such high drama-the cheers and cries and arguments of The Great Matter-that led me to search that section of London for the place where the royal confrontation took place: Blackfriars. But there is another reason too.
In my novels, "The Crown" and "The Chalice", I write the stories through the eyes of a Dominican novice who lives at the priory of Dartford, in Kent. It was the sole house of Dominican sisters in the kingdom. But the largest male Dominican establishment in England-and one of the most prestigious in all of Europe-was the monastery of friars dubbed Blackfriars. In its vast complex, the upper frater building, 110 feet long and 52 feet wide with two-foot-thick stonewalls, had a second-storey room called the Parliamentary Chamber. Many important sessions of government were held there.
It's natural to be surprised that a friary would possess such a chamber; the medieval monarchs' respect for the large monastic orders-Dominicans, Benedictines, and Franciscans-is not much written about. The first followers of St Dominic arrived in England in 1221. Over the next 50 years, their influence, and their numbers, grew as, pledged to humility and poverty, they stayed in various churches. They were nicknamed "Blackfriars" because of the color of their robes.
Edward I
Edward I was the principal patron of the new Blackfriars friary in London. He made a gift of 200 marks in 1280 to raise the church; construction of all the buildings-cloister, frater, infirmary, chapel, dormitory, vestry, buttery, brewery-lasted at least 20 years. King Edward took its creation so seriously that he extended the western perimeter wall of the city of London so the friars could have more room. Their property extended from the Thames River to Ludgate; the friars, moreover, were not answerable to the mayor or any governmental officials of the city. They were a city within the city.
After the work was finished, King Edward I conducted state business in Blackfriars and even slept there on occasion. Did nights spent on a friar's pallet afford more peace for Edward Longshanks, the Hammer of the Scots? Perhaps.
The Dominicans were grateful to their patron, so much so that they staunchly defended his son, Edward II, when no one else did. After Edward II was deposed by his French wife and her allies, the Blackfriars were distrusted and blamed for a time and had to go into hiding.

There are no more instances of Dominicans' dangerous interference with political affairs. On the property, houses were built and lent to those not affiliated with the friars. It became a fashionable place to live, known for its gardens. Sir William Kingston retired to Blackfriars precinct after his years of service managing the Tower of London, dealing with such prisoners as King Henry's second wife, Anne Boleyn. The Parr family also had a house in Blackfriars, and Henry VIII's sixth wife, also named Catherine, was born there in 1512.
When the end came in the 1530s and Henry VIII, denied his divorce by Rome, declared himself head of the Church of England, the Dominicans did not martyr themselves, like the Carthusian monks. The prior, John Hilsey, surrendered Blackfriars without any known objection in November 1538. The 15 friars living there were ejected and the friary officially closed. For his cooperation, Prior Hilsey received a pension of 60 pounds for the rest of his life and could stay in prior's lodgings, which included larders, buttery, kitchen, storeroom, cellar, gallery and other parcels.

Throughout the rest of the 16th century, the buildings and gardens of Blackfriars were sold to various courtiers. Large structures were broken up; later, some of the halls were put back together to become a playhouse for Shakespeare and other Elizabeth playwrights. In the Great Fire of London, that building was destroyed.
I knew very well that nothing of Blackfriars remained when I visited London in the summer of 2011 to research my novel, "The Chalice". But it was hard to believe. Tired and hungry, I was about to give up when I heard something very strange on a deserted side street. It was singing, a beautiful hymn of some sort. I followed the sound of their voices to a set of stairs leading up. At the top was a small, leafy courtyard park, and a group of 20 middle-aged men and women gathered, singing. A priest stood by.
I learned that this day, July 26, was St Anne's Day, and they sang to honor her, the mother of the Virgin Mary. I sat on a bench and listened to their program. At twilight, I got up to leave, and saw a scrap of low stone wall and near it a line of centuries' old tombstones on the edge of the park pavement.
They were the graves of friars of the Dominican Order. The Church of St. Anne was built in 1550, twelve years after the surrender, to serve as the house of worship for those still living in the precinct. One thing they did was gather and protect some of the graves.
