Francis King Ritual Magic

Francis King Ritual Magic Of The Golden Dawn A Brief Review
The first thing I'll say about this book is that if you already own a copy of Francis King's "Astral Projection, Ritual Magic, and Alchemy" don't get this book because you already have it. I can't count the number of occult libraries I've seen, including my own, where both These texts contain some of the most core teachings of Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers, William Wynn Westcott, Dr. Edward Berridge, Annie Horniman, Florence Farr, Elaine Simpson...

Oh, and Francis King...Just kidding! This book is no more written by Francis King than the Golden Dawn rituals were written by Regardie or The Declaration of Independence was written by Ronald McDonald. While the side of the book may seem misleading at first, the front of the book is honest: "Works by S.L. MacGregor Mathers and Others, "Edited" by Francis King." King does write a rather informative synopsis of the texts in the forward, and an informative, sometimes amusing, brief history of the last few centuries of the Western Mysteries, and the Golden Dawn.

This book is definitely a must read for someone who has already been practicing Golden Dawn magic for a while.

Many of these sacred and historical texts can also be found in the Flying Rolls section of our Order's website.

Kidnapped By Witches In Plymouth

Kidnapped By Witches In Plymouth
I have been very much on a witch groove these days. I could say it is because of the increasing darkness this time of year, but I think I'm always kind of in a witchy groove. You can't like New England folklore without liking witches!

Here's a nice little witch story from an 1893 book called "The Old Colony Town and Other Sketches", by William Root Bliss. The Old Colony in the title refers to Plymouth, Massachusetts. Plymouth, settled by Europeans in 1620, was considered the old colony when compared to Boston, which was "only" settled in 1630, and therefore was newer.

These 19th century local history
Around midnight the boy awoke to see the two witches pulling a quahog shell from the oven. The women rubbed the shell behind their ears and said, "Whisk!" In an instant they vanished up the chimney. Curious to see where they had gone, the boy also picked up the shell and rubbed it behind his ears. After saying the magic word, he found himself transported up the chimney into a meadow where the two witches were mounted on black horses. Noticing their new guest, one of the witches produced a bridle and put it on a bundle of straw, which was transformed into a pony. The witches galloped off across the meadow, and the boy followed them on the pony into the night.

After a while they came to a brook, which the witches' horses easily leaped over. When the boy's pony leaped the brook, the boy exclaimed: "A pretty good jump for a lousy calf!" As soon as the words came out of his mouth, the pony reverted back to a bundle of straw, and he was forced to run after the witches on foot.

Winded and tired, he came to an old abandoned house with the black horses tied outside. From inside he could hear the sound of fiddle music. Peering in one broken window he saw the two witches and other elderly ladies dancing around a black man playing the fiddle. Terrified at what he saw, the boy ran away into the woods. Eventually he came to a to a farm house. The farmer and his wife took the boy in, and returned him to his family the next morning.

There are a lot of interesting aspects to this little tale. It definitely has a dream-like feeling, with the witches who only emerge at night, and the sleeping boy who sees them fly up the chimney. (Much like Santa Claus does in a "Visit from Saint Nicholas"!) When the morning comes he "awakens" and is once again back at home with his parents. The journey on the horses across the meadow and over the brook is reminiscent of various mythic journeys to the Otherworld, which is often separated from the normal, mundane world by a river.

Many New England witch stories deal with issues of women's power, and I think it's salient that the witches kidnap a boy, rather than a girl, particularly since a magic bridle is involved. In most stories about witch bridles, the witches use them to subjugate men who have mistreated them. The sexual and gender issues are quite obvious in those stories, but in this one they are a little more oblique since the boy is obviously young.

It's also significant that the boy breaks the spell over the straw bundle by speaking. Silence is magically powerful in a lot of New England folk stories. For example, Eva Speare's book "New Hampshire Folk Tales" mentions a spell to immobilize witches that is broken only when someone speaks, and also claims that if you manage to put a witch bridle over a witch, she will obey you until you speak. A single word will set the witch free.

The black man playing the fiddle is obviously the Devil, but black is probably not being used in it's current meaning of having African ancestry. In colonial New England black clothing was quite expensive due to the dyes that were used, and only the very wealthy and important (like ministers) could afford it. Many stories describe the Devil as being dressed in black clothing which signifies his power and material wealth.

Finally, I'll just say that the quahog shell is very, very New England.

Angel Wars Explained

Angel Wars Explained
THIS POST WILL EXPLAIN AND REVEAL THE CONTINUOUS WAR IN HEAVEN TO THE WORLD.

The Bible doesn't go into much detail about the actual battle itself as it concentrates more on the solution than the problem, but there are key verses scattered around that give us just enough to see that this battle took place, AND IT IS STILL TAKING PLACE TODAY.

Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back - REVELATION 12:7.

This scripture points out quite clearly that there was a war in Heaven between the Michael and his Angels against Satan and his Angels. Satan and his Angels lost and were hurled to the earth. After this the Heavens rejoiced that Satan was cast down, but the Earth would be filled with trouble because the Devil is filled with fury (Angry Rage) because he knows that his time is short. "Was this Battle (between Righteousness and Wickedness) for Souls "

"OR WAS IT FOR SOMETHING ELSE?"

The Christian Bible's Book of Revelation describes a "war in heaven" between angels led by the archangel Michael versus those led by "the dragon", identified with "the devil and Satan", who are defeated and thrown down to the earth. Revelation's "war in heaven" has been compared to the idea of fallen angels and possible parallels have been proposed in the Old Testament and Dead Sea Scrolls.

These human agents of Satan, he said, believe they will be given greater power by yielding their free will to dark forces. However, Quayle warned, "that power, they yield to, will ultimately consume and destroy them." He pointed to transhumanism as a key aspect of this agenda. "The goal is not to help humanity be all we can be," he lamented. Instead, Quayle contended that the aim is to create a race of quasi-gods which will supplant the human race as we know it. Africa Resurrectionists

2012 Pagan Reading Challenge
Back in the early days of European medical science obtaining cadavers for dissection was illegal. As medical schools began to realize that working on human rather than animal bodies was essential to education and research, a new criminal profession emerged - that of the so-called resurrectionist. The term did not describe the practice of bringing the dead back to life, but rather that of professional grave-robbing. Resurrectionists would keep an eye out for newly dug graves, secretly exhume the bodies, and sell them to medical schools and researchers. Today in Africa a similar profession has emerged, but the resurrectionists there do not work for scientists. Instead, the body parts they procure are sold to traditional magical practitioners for use in spells. Five people were recently arrested in Cameroon attempting to deliver a human head to a buyer in Yaounde.

Authorities in Cameroon have arrested five people suspected of trafficking in body parts after they were discovered at a checkpoint carrying a severed human head, state radio and wildlife conservationists said on Tuesday.

Body parts of humans and rare animals are prized by some in central Africa for their supposed supernatural powers, and used in occult ceremonies.

Traffickers often get human remains from grave-robbers, but a recent spate of killings has also been linked to the gruesome trade.

Cameroon's state-owned broadcaster CRTV said the suspects had been transporting the body parts in a bag along with elephant meat from Djoum, a small town about 280 km (170 miles)south of the capital Yaounde, when they were stopped at a checkpoint.

Those arrested told the authorities that they had been promised 10 million CFA francs in exchange for the head. As it was in Europe, the African trade in body parts appears to be profitable enough that an effective crackdown will likely prove quite difficult. The original resurrectionists were not stopped by increased law enforcement, though many cities did enact measures intended to shut them down. Instead, the development of legal methods for medical schools and universities to obtain bodies rendered the grave-robbing trade obsolete. Its hard to see how something similar could work in places like Cameroon, as I can't imagine very many people wanting to donate their bodies to sorcery rather than science.

A Computer Could Write This Blog

A Computer Could Write This Blog
The Secret Chiefs of the Golden Dawn will see you now.

I am a writer-I think that most of my readers know this. And I read lots of blogs, including some in the publishing/writing field. Today, I was reading a blog post over on Galleycat about how Forbes has joined the horde of 30 companies now using the Narrative Science software to write their stories.

(Yes, I have decided that a group of 30 companies is a horde. It is either a horde or a government. And either way, you are probably not going to like what they are doing.)

Anyway, I find myself wondering if I could be replaced by a computer program. Could a computer write this blog? Would you be able to tell the difference?

And in my case, yes-a computer could write as intelligently as I do; after all, most of my jokes are not funny. Just throw in a whining attitude and a few cat photos and BLAM! you would not be able to tell the difference.

Come to think of it, there are several other bloggers you could replace with a whiny attitude and a few pictures. No names mentioned-you know who they are. Heck, the entire esoteric blogosphere could be replaced by a machine. It is not like you cannot predict what various bloggers and commenters are going to say. It can't be that hard to program a computer to do the writing instead. For that matter, we could replace all those pesky Secret Chiefs with a computer too-it is not like most of us would know the difference provided that they continued to take our money.

Don't believe me?! Just think about the number of
See, we could all be replaced with computers, the entire occult blogosphere. And given the amount of time that some of us spend on this stuff, we should really encourage someone to write a computer program to replace us. I wonder if I could raise money on Kickstarter to do this project.

Most anonymous blogs could be written by machines.

Weeks Of Pagan Art Journaling

52 Weeks Of Pagan Art Journaling
So, I am officially caught up on this fun project! Now to share the pieces I've done so far to date!

Week 1 - Intent

Basically - spiritual growth, happiness, relaxation, etc. Which it definitely has been so far.

Week 2 - Heart/LoveCouldn't think of anything visual for this really so just used my favourite metallic pink and wrote out the most important things in my heart.

Week 3 - I BelieveFaeries, of course. I also believe in the beauty in all of Nature - even things considered pesky weeds by others (yes, horrible painting of a dandelion there LOL)

Week 4 - NatureFor some reason the very common seasons trees was stuck in my head for this one, and this my crappy trees were created for it LOL

Week 5 - Letter to myself in 5yrs in relation to my Path"I hope by now to have grown much closer and in harmony with the God and Goddess. I'd also hope to have built upon my relationship with the Faeries. Five years is a long time, so I imagine a lot has changed, but I know my main path will remain the same."

Week 6 - The GoddessMy original thought on this prompt was more of a globe bellied woman, but as I started painting, this is what emerged instead. More of a Gaia figure, I suppose.

Week 7 - WaterMy little water spirit kind of got squished while creating, but I still enjoyed it. Yes, that is the Cancer symbol as well, as I am a Water sign, Cancer, and even though I'm on the cusp of Gemini, I am a very true Cancer.

So, these are my paintings, and cannot wait for the next prompt. If you are ever interested in my art, outside of these as painting is not my strong point, please check out my deviantART page Lilac SilverFox

Mage The Awakening Visualizing Supernal Sights

Mage The Awakening Visualizing Supernal Sights
How do you visualize the supernal sights in Mage games? In session we always gave a very apt description on what information was relevant to the situation "I cast mage sight on the fountain" - "The water flows bright with magic. You can tell without hazarding much guesswork that it is filled with liquid tass"

Now that I'm bringing sights in to my webcomic I am having to invent a visual style for them. So far I have only used Third Eye I'm thinking of a pixelated grid for Matter sight. Green filter and highlighting any past/present wounds on a sprite via Life sight... Death Sight I want to make everything monochrome and empty. Maybe cloudy/misty for spirit sight.

It's when I get to Luck/Time sight that I'm having a little bit of difficulty imagining things.

What do you guys mentally envision when these sights are active?

Masonic Manhattan Beltane Edition

Masonic Manhattan Beltane Edition
Canadian researcher Alan Watt is a charming old curmudgeon with interesting insights on the nature of power structures. He's essentially the Internet version of the old cat in the bar who'll spin you some wild yarns if you buy him a round or two. Like those types, he also wings it a lot, but I think he has nailed it when it comes to the guiding religion of the ruling class. I'm paraphrasing, but during one blurb he said something to the effect that ruling class is not Jewish or Catholic or Protestant or Islamic- it is Masonic. To that I would simply add that it's not Freemasonic, per se, but the ancient Masonic system we've looked at here in the past. By this I mean a system in which promising young people are tapped and groomed into an initiatory system in which power is gained through a graded series of steps, acknowledged by a corresponding series of rituals- awards, citations, etc.

Again, the fraternities, think tanks and senior societies are all based in this model, and are far more powerful and influential than the Freemies, who were essentially created for the servant and middle classes.

What brings all of this up? Well, if you have any familiarity with Masonic symbolism at all, you will be punched in the face with it when you spend any time in the cities of power of the Western World- New York, Washington, London, Rome, Paris, etc etc etc.

I spent some time in New York on Wednesday night (Beltane Eve) for a business event. I was late for said event because, as Synchronicity would have it, there was a fire in the tunnel for the 33rd St PATH train. I had to take a detour to- wait for it- the World Trade Center. Now, I haven't been to the WTC since a week or two before 9/11. Lower Manhattan was a major part of my psychic landscape and the events that surrounded 9/11 threw my entire life into chaos for several years. It sounds ridiculous, but I couldn't bear to see Ground Zero, especially now that I am aware of the incredibly powerful mojo still at work there (which is the topic of a future post). But Fate forced me to face my fears, probably because I needed to see this...

...the hundreds of Eye mosaics at Chambers Street Station. I don't recall those being there before 9/11. I'm not sure what the official explanation of them is, but the esoteric meaning is unmistakable. In any event, I walked by Ground Zero and saw just another construction site. I feel weirder now about it than I did when I was there.

Anyhow, I ended up at Columbus Circle, which I hadn't seen in ages. It's now home to the gargantuan Time Warner Center, which is a hell of a lot more impressive than in this photo. Notice how the center building lines up with the obelisk in the fountain. A brief glance at some of the Timer Warner logos should tell Secret Sun readers all they need to know...

Breathtakingly audacious, aren't they?

I don't believe the Columbus Circle location is remotely accidental, either. In addition to the obelisk we see there, there's also the extremely puzzling Maine Memorial, an ostensible tribute to the USS Maine that was extremely controversial in its day. Here we see an angel holding the globe looking towards the Maine Memorial, which shows a goddess barreling towards the obelisk. Who is the goddess?

That's actually a good question. On the face of it, she appears to be the virgin goddess Athena, identified with war. But the goddess on her chariot also bears a strong resemblance to Cybele, who we looked at in the analysis of The 40 year Old Virgin and Solaris. The shell shape of her cab identifies her with Aphrodite, who we saw in relation to Eternal Sunshine. She rides with three horses, perhaps indicating that this is a Masonic variation on the Triple Goddess.

As always, I recommend that any Synchromystics go and see these landmarks for themselves. It's an entirely different experience to see this symbolism lording over the everyday hustle and bustle. I can't imagine Imperial Rome was much different at all.

Anyhow, my journey took me down to the Christopher St. Station, but the PATH was still closed. I ended back down at the WTC, and was somewhat chilled to notice the klieg lights and the sounds of heavy machinery at a late hour. For some reason, I flashed back to the silly midnight seances I took part in as a kid in the Gloucester Cemetery. I have no idea why.

Another Edward Feser Quote

Another Edward Feser Quote The So Called Laws Of Nature
"The supposition that "the so-called laws of nature are the explanations of natural phenomena" is an "illusion" for two reasons...

First, "laws of nature" are mere abstractions and cannot explain anything. What exist in the natural order are concrete material substances with certain essences, and talk of "laws of nature" is merely shorthand for the patterns of behavior they tend to exhibit given those essences.

Second, that some fundamental level of material substances (basic particles, or whatever) exist and behave in accordance with such laws can also never be the ultimate explanation of anything, because we need to know, not only how such substances came into existence, but what keeps them in existence.

For as compounds of act and potency and essence and existence, they cannot possibly account for themselves; only that which is Pure Act and Subsistent Existence Itself can be the ultimate explanation of them, or of anything else. In general, whatever is composite in any way requires explanation in terms of that which is metaphysically simple. (As usual, see The Last Superstition and Aquinas for the full story.)"

Hot Cross Buns

Hot Cross Buns
Hot cross buns!

One a penny, two a penny,

Hot cross buns!

If your daughters do not like them

Give them to your sons;

But if you haven't any of these pretty little elves

You cannot do better than eat them yourselves.

This is the old nursery rhyme, and Good Friday is traditionally associated with Hot Cross buns. I like to slit mine open, place a generous amount of Flora inside and close them up (in the old days butter, but I have to be more health conscious), put them on a tray in the oven, gas mark 4, for about 10 minutes. Out they come, hot, spice and fruity and with melted hot butter within. Scrumptious!

But where did Hot Cross buns originate from?

One old book, from 1939, has this to say about the origins of Hot Cross Buns:

"On the spring equinox the Babylonians served little cakes marked with the Bull's own sign-the same cakes, to mark the same season, that we serve today-except that we call them hot cross buns by mistake."(1)

A more modern book on foods states that:

"hot cross buns began their life in ancient Egypt as bread marked with horns for fertility." (2)

It turns out that they are, in fact, quoting a book from 1980 as their source for this, and that simply asserts, rather than giving any evidence.

There was a tendency, which we can trace in Frazer's Golden Bough as an prime example of the genre, to see all customs as relics of ancient pagan customs. This looks at common elements, like here the eating of bread, and lumps them all together, regardless of differences, or of charting the progression through time. But it looks as if Hot Cross Buns did not originate in the Middle East, simply because the historical record does not find a trace within Christianity until the 18th century, when they emerge, suddenly there. It looks very much as if there is no trace, because there is no connection - 1700 years of silence, then suddenly present - is much more likely because they were invented in the 18th century, not because there was a secret hidden pagan tradition of eating hot cross buns on Good Friday, which was so secret, it has left no trace in any documents at all!

But we find the same pattern with the Victorian Christmas, which is a time of invention, and customs are created, and within a generation, become established as part of custom since time immemorial. Our present Christmas celebrations is largely a Victorian invention, although traces of it do go back earlier - and leave their mark in the historical record. The Christmas crib, for example, was an invention of Francis of Assisi, a visual aid for a largely illiterate common people.

Rosen's Guide to the Religions of America places the custom in England, as an outcome of the "Mass of the Presanctified", a tradition which is still in place today in Roman Catholic Churches and some Anglican Churches (such as St Brelade), and links it to that:

Good Friday -This day commemorates the Crucifixion, which is retold during services from the Gospel according to St. John. A feature in Roman Catholic churches is the Mass of the Presanctified: there is no Consecration, the Host having been consecrated the previous day. The eating of hot cross buns on this day is said to have started in England. (4)

The Yearbook of Festivals traces this back to the Middle Ages, but notes that while bread - connected with the mass and the holy day - had special qualities, we don't find bread marked and eaten as hot cross buns until later:

Good Friday has its fair share of superstitions. Bread baked on this day was considered a curative, especially for children. The custom of eating hot-cross buns, however, is not attested before the eighteenth century, where Poor Robin's Almanac mentions it as a street cry of bakers:

Good Friday comes this Month, the old Woman runs

With one or two a Penny, hot cross Bunns,

Whose Virtue is, if you believe what's said,

They'll not grow mouldy like the common Bread. [Poor Robin ( 1733)]

For Good Friday, hot buns marked with a cross for breakfast... These buns will keep for ever without becoming mouldy, by virtue of the holy sign impressed upon them... in the province of Herefordshire a pious woman annually makes two upon this day, the crumbs of which are a sovereign remedy for diarrhea Southey, Letters from England, XX

The Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes notes how this moved from the bakers - eager to sell their buns - to the nursery, where it became a general chant, and a game:

Hence it became a calendar folk-chant, customarily sung by children on Good Friday, when the hot cross buns are eaten for breakfast. The song is now remembered in the nursery throughout the year, and often accompanies the game in which the hands are placed flat in a pile, and the lowest removed and placed on the top, and so on.

The Yearbook of English festivals (7) surmises that the idea of baking having special properties may have its origins in a folk-legend about Jesus.

In contrast to the gloomy conviction that to wash on Good Friday is unlucky, is the widespread belief that to bake is good. This goes back to the legend that when on the way to Golgotha, Christ stopped to rest at the cottage of a woman who was washing. Not wishing to be seen with a common malefactor, the woman threw suds at Jesus and ordered him to leave. He shouldered his cross again and started on his way. He soon came to a cottage where a woman was baking. She offered him a bench to sit on, bread to eat and water to drink. From then on, people have said that women who wash on Good Friday are cursed, but those who bake are blessed.

Perhaps this folk belief accounts for the superstition that Good Friday cross buns possess rare virtues. They will keep all year without growing moldy, and a bit of the loaf, grated and mixed with water, brandy or milk, cures diarrhea and other ailments! In some humble Devonshire and Worcestershire cottages a Good Friday bun hangs from the smoke-stained rafters, since people think the holy bread protects sailors from shipwreck, clothes from moths and corn from mice! In olden days London streets were filled with the cries of the Good Friday bun vendors, who lured the last penny from pockets of the unwary, with reminders, such as:

One a penny, two a penny,

Hot cross buns.

If you have no daughters,

Give them to your sons;

But if you have none of these merry little elves,

Then you may keep them all for yourselves.

Folk legends have a way of finding their way into the public consciousness. It is, after all, an apocryphal tale that presents us with three wise men, and their names; they are not given in Matthew's gospel which just speaks of Magi from the East.

But the actual mutation to Hot Cross buns seems later. As Ronald Hutton notes: " Its first appearance is in the early eighteenth century, and no such treats relieved the dietary gloom of the pre-Reformation Lent."(8). He expands on the notion of special bread, and how that became marked with a cross - curiously, in Protestant England, rather than Catholic England:

During the nineteenth century, across virtually the whole of England and in parts of Wales, folklorists discovered the superstition that bread, buns, or biscuits baked upon this day had especially beneficial powers. They were generally believed never to go mouldy and to be capable of curing diseases, especially intestinal disorders, if eaten. If hung in a house, they were thought to protect it against misfortune. Not merely the day of manufacture was important, however, for like a pre-Reformation host they had to be marked with the sign of the cross.

The faith in them crossed a surprising number of confessional boundaries: thus a lady in the Cambridgeshire fenland village of Brandon Creek manifested it to the full although she was a strict primitive Methodist. Her Good Friday bread was kept in a tin to bring good luck to her family during the following year. Only after a new one had replaced it was the twelve-month-old loaf moistened, rebaked, and eaten on Easter Day by the whole household. The person given the cross was considered especially blessed, and the end slice was thrown into the river Ouse to protect the neighbourhood from floods. Only in Northamptonshire, to illustrate the twists which popular belief was capable of taking, was the tradition reversed, and baking upon Good Friday regarded as unlucky.

That the medieval veneration of the consecrated bread of the mass should have left a profound impact upon the popular imagination is not surprising. That the home-made bread stamped with the cross should be especially associated with Good Friday does, however, call out for some particular explanation, and the one most apparent is surely that the host was most obviously venerated upon this day, in the rite of the sepulchre. By the nineteenth century, these special pieces of bread were known very widely by the name of Hot Cross Buns, and they survived as the traditional Good Friday morning or midday dish in areas where their magical qualities had been forgotten, and they had become commercialized. This happened earliest, naturally enough, in London, where the street vendors' cry "One a-penny, two a-penny Hot Cross Buns" was familiar by 1733.

But there are other Good Friday customs which are also interesting, which are revealed in the Yearbook of English Festivals:

Bees should be shifted on Good Friday and no other day, according to farmers of Devonshire, Herefordshire and Cornwall; while in Dorsetshire, Worcestershire, Norfolk and There is, alas, no mention of the custom of having Conger Soup for the Lent Lunch at St Brelade's Parish Hall, which is a pity. I went there this year, enjoyed the bread and cheese, and then the rich fishy aroma as the soup came to my table. It was singularly delicious, and I enjoyed ever mouthful, until at last my bowl was empty. Like Hot Cross Buns, traditions are invented, but that doesn't make them any less memorable or enjoyable.

Day Nineteen Make Friends With Fate

Day Nineteen Make Friends With Fate
Fate, it is said, may be influenced in your favor if you know your personal magic word.

To find it, light a white candle and sit facing south. Take a dictionary; close your eyes and turn the book around several times so that you are unaware of which way it is facing.

Eyes closed, fan the pages until you feel compelled to stop at a certain page.

Eyes still closed, wander about the page using your forefinger until you feel inclined to pause. Open your eyes, look at the word under your finger. If there is more than one word, pick the first that jumps out at you from the page. This is your magic word.

You can remind yourself of your magic word mentally or verbally whenever you wish to tune in to a situation, or whenever you feel you need a boost of energy. It will change the vibration around you and attract good influences.

It is better not to talk about your word too much - if at all. The more you verbalize about it, the less power it will have. Too much talking about something, particularly something sacred and magical, tends to dilute the energy. This does not mean that your word must be a "secret". It does mean that it is important to keep your "magic word" to yourself, and for sure do not share it with anyone who would make light of it, or belittle you in any way.

Helping Hand Safe Houses Give Hope In North Korea

Helping Hand Safe Houses Give Hope In North Korea
HELPING HAND, SAFE HOUSES GIVE HOPE IN NORTH KOREA

North Korea For the past decade, North Korea has been the world's most hostile country in which to live and practice the Christian faith.

Open Doors USA notes that nearly a quarter of the Christians in the country are believed to be serving out sentences in labor camps. By the end of his life, Kim Il-Sung saw himself as a deity, setting into motion a cult following under his sons. Those who did not participate were killed or sent for re-education in the labor camps.

Meanwhile, poverty is the reality the rest of the country bears. Roughly ten million inhabitants are malnourished, with thousands eating only grass and bark.

According to Open Doors, half the population lives in the north, close to China, where family-based networks of house churches exist in significant numbers. Last year, Open Doors distributed over 45,000 pieces of Christian materials in North Korea and secretly trained approximately 5,000 North Korean believers.

In addition, around 1,000 refugees and their families received help through Open Doors' safe houses across the border in China. Many North Koreans caught crossing the borders into China are returned, likely to face death sentences or worse-the punishment of family members down to the third generation.

That's where safe houses come into play. Open Doors can now provide over 1,500 North Korean refugees safe haven. Those who successfully cross can find safety, medical attention, food, and most importantly: spiritual nourishment.

What's more, Open Doors says that because not everyone escaping from North Korea is a Christian, their ministry partners can share the Gospel with hundreds of people.

As more people began fleeing North Korea, the need for more safe houses became clear. Open Doors asked for help raising 66,000 for new safe houses to meet the growing demand. The good news is that they not only met that goal, but exceeded it.

This additional amount allows Open Doors to move quickly, providing Bibles, training, advocacy, and other support where Christians need it most.

Feminism Marginalization Of The Self

Feminism Marginalization Of The Self
I've been buying a lot of e-
Not every library has an e-book collection yet, but my library did. And they had a lot of really lovely titles! I spent days combing through the site, marking things on my wish list and borrowing and reading for the sheer joy of it. But I started wanting more: I wanted to check out I dug all over the website for my library and found an email address. I wrote to explain that I'd like to donate money to buy some specific e- At first, the lists I sent were pretty innocuous stuff. Classic literature. Fiction. Fantasy. Science fiction. Young adult Last month when I sat down to write my check and look at my list, I chewed my lip a little. I have a laundry list of atheist and wiccan and pagan non-fiction I don't want to get my library in trouble. I don't want a local outcry about the liberal taint that has infected our library and how TAXES are being used to CORRUPT our children. And, I'll be honest, I didn't want my librarian thinking worse of me for being one of those Horrible People who read Horrible But I was a kid once in this community. I read
How could I tell an atheist child in my community that I wanted to donate an atheist book but I was afraid of being disliked by the librarian? How could I tell a pagan child that I wanted to donate a book on wicca but I was too timid to even ask? In a burst of guilt, I composed my politely worded little list, sent it off in the mail, and started biting my fingernails for a week.

When my librarian wrote me back to tell me what she'd been able to buy, she was amazingly enthusiastic and supportive. For the first time in this whole year of donations, she actually went over my 100 in order to get 6 I don't know why these
I'm a solitary wiccan, with no desire or need for a face-space community. I'm happy with my internet friends and comfortable in my broom closet. But possibly my comfort with being alone has meant that I've quietly marginalized myself and people like me to the point where I erroneously believe I'm the only non-Christian in my entire state. I've slowly forgotten that though my state is ultimately red in the Conservative/Liberal binary divide, it's really more accurately described as purple: a little bit of each side, mixing together and trying to make the best of it.

I'm writing another monthly check soon for my library, and I'm feeling a tiny bit braver. I want to write out another non-fiction list, another list of I don't know if anyone else wants to read these things besides me, but I "do" know that I need to stop assuming that they don't. Because when I do that, when I assume that I'm the only one, I end up silencing myself more effectively than the most vocal of my opponents.

Money Magnet Manifestation Song

Money Magnet Manifestation Song
Like I have mentioned in many previous posts here on this blog, manifestation is a part of life. We all do it in some way or another every day. Whether it is positive or negative that is up to you.

MANIFESTATION, POSITIVE THOUGHT DRAWING POSITIVE REALITY..

One way of looking at manifestation is a positive aspect of what you want in life. If you keep looking at what you do not or the negative, what will end up happening. Negative will keep happening. So what is the solution. The solution is focus on what is positive that you want.

In many ways it is the like a magnet, a magnet for the energy of your positive thoughts. If that thought is money in a positive way, then the body will start attracting money in all aspects of your life. Take a look around at those that always seem to have money, there is a commonality with them. They expect money positively Now you need to ask yourself, do you expect money to magnetize into your life. Are you positively charged to handle money? And lastly are you creating the world in which you live by the thought forms you have every day? "MOST LIKELY YOU ARE.."

While it is a positive song for manifestation, it is not a total solution to bringing more money in your life.. See it as a positive tool.. You need to positively charge yourself for what you want and positively believe it will come to you as well.

Like anything positive, only positive can be attracted to it..
