There are several schools of thought concerning How magic works in spirituality...
1. Psychological changes occur through magic and we create our reality during magic, but our circles, energy, etc is all psychological... when we change our inner mind, we act differently, and that change casues things to naturally fall into place. "Magic is all in our heads"
2. The Astral Plane. When we do magic we "heighten our conciousness" and partially enter into another realm of existance. We "pull the strings" of the other plane, and that plane in turn affects events in OUR plane to help us acheive our goal.
3. Manifestation of real forces in our OWN plane.
So... hmmm... All of this has to do with reality... Are we REALLY creating changhe during ritual, and is that change manifested here, or elsewhere. Obviosly, the first one is the most currently scientifically supported idea. Years of Psychology show that if you change your thoughts, you can create real, lasting change throughout your life. But when we work magic we are not simple "changing what we are thinking"... we are trying to use our minds and spirit to manipulate and direct ENERGY. That energy is not necessarily the simple common energies of the universe that science recognizes- physical motion, light, sound, electricity... Instead it is something unique, energy with enough level of consciousness to actively create or manipulate reality.
So is it REAL? When you are casting that energetic circle, are you creating a mindset? Are you making a circle on the astral plane? Or is there REAL energy that you are REALLY working with on this plane?
I ask all these questions... But I do have my own opinion, so please don't tell me what TO think, but rather, what do you feel, based on experience.
I personally feel I am 99.9% sure that there is very real energy being worked and creating change on this plane of existance. I also feel psychological change takes place AND there is some "string pulling" on the Astral and Divine planes.
When I cant a strong circle I can feel it. It feels slightly more "buzzy", a degree or two warmer than outside of my circle, and has a "film-like" surface. I am an artist, so It would seem that I would be a visualizer, however,I can only sometimes "see" my circle, and that is when i focus a lot on it, but I can always feel and sense it. It is REAL, and it is on this plane. When I am no longer in trance... it is still there UNLESS I take it down.
To some degree, I feel that what you believe makes your reality. So, if you don't believe the energy is really there, naturally you WON'T harness and direct the energy in such a way to create a real energetic circle. and so you will only have psychological change. If you feel the circle is only manifesting on the astral plane, naturally you will only direct that energy TO that plane, and you wont have energy in this one... But if you believe in all of the groups of manifestation, all will naturally occur...
That said, we are still limited by natural law. there are some things that cannot be done. This isn't to say you can't try new things. Science has yet to figure out all the forces in the universe... and if you can telekinetically move a paperclip around, or you can psychically communicate, by all means, DO IT!... That said, beware of scams. There are some smart people out there who have come up with clever devices and tricks that are simple illusions, and they sit back collecting money while laughing at the "poor fools" who think they can levitate pencils or whatnot... Psychic development should be relatively free, require no special devices, and works all the time.
Real magic works WITH logic, not against it.
So, here is your homework... If you are of any of the above schools of thought... I challenge you to do this excercise:
Prepare for a ritual or circle. Take a ritual bath and dress however you feel comfortable (be it skyclad, yoga gear, robes, etc).
First, cast a circle of the "mind" Physically draw out a circle considering it a construct built within your own mind that will allow you to be open to emotional and spiritual change.
Second, draw a second circle on the astral plane... try to feel your conciousness "rising" and in that "dreamlike" plane cast a circle. Realise that you are the command center and you can direct energies on this plane with the inhabitants there with freedom and ease.
Third, even if you are skeptical, draw a energetic circle on out real, everyday physical plane. Try to feel in, not just with your mind, but with you sense of touch, taste, sight, smell even hearing. Firmly believe that it is a real entity you are creating on earth. "Pour" Your energy into it until the air feels slightly "thicker" and more tangible.
Now that you have cast all three circles... do you feel like this circle is more powerful, mor connected, stronger? Does it feel that same as other circles. Don't doubt yourself, don't second guess yourself, allow yourself to trust your intuition and not be dissuaded by our CULTURAL ideas.
If you are new to circle casting, the affect may not be as strong as those who are practiced. After you have done this excercise, please come back and comment! Did you feel or notice a change... are you skeptical, did this help or hinder you spiritual experience.
Hehehe... I accidently expended quite a bit of energy without grounding first while i wrote this, so I feel a little "woosy"... Oh well... time to get realigned!

CLOCKWORK PRINCESS BY CASSANDRA CLARE

I think that, at one point, every reader comes across a book that completely changes their life. It comes along with an extraordinary setting, a brilliant cast of characters, and a story that moves you to a point where you know that you'll never forget it. Fans of huge series like "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" know exactly what it feels like to transform from a person who enjoys
"Clockwork Princess" took me on an adventurous battle against a troublesome mutant worm, swept me away to Idris to duel against a bloodcurdling villain made me fall in love, and then it completely broke my heart. After a while, I was just sitting there with tears in my eyes, "begging" the book to stop because I couldn't take it anymore. It sounds really silly, but I think that moments like those are a true testament to Clare's writing. Her work takes you beyond reading. It's an experience, and the emotions were as raw and real for me as if I had been sitting in Victorian England, amidst all of the battling Shadowhunters and impossible romance. And as I sit here, a complete emotional wreck, already dying to go back and pour over every word again, I know that these Honestly, every part of this book is heartbreaking. Clare writes in a way that you really grow along with these intricately captivating plot lines, and you fall in love with the characters and their stories all on your own. And then, of course, there's such vivid detail on every page, with these wonderful little bursts of clever humor. I mean, seriously Cassandra - save some talent for the rest of us. I don't want to give too much away, but she was just so smart about how she used her plot devices. She pays so much attention to the little details and just hits you right in the feels with all of these stunning, raw moments, while paying homage to scenes that date as far into the future as The Mortal Instruments Series. I just...I can't even.
It was one of those impossible situations in which I never wanted the series to end, and yet it was flawless enough as she left it.
Oh, where to begin? Sometimes, I imagine that Cassandra Clare must have the" most" crowded head ever. Each of her characters are so distinct, and so prominent, that it's hard too believe she doesn't go mad about creating so many strong personalities. It's awesome because each person holds such purpose in the grander scheme of the shadow hunters' world. There are descendants, spin-offs, and I know that even Tessa makes this sneaky little appearance in the final book of The Mortal Instruments series - "City of Glass". And I just live for little things like that.
I just want to start off by saying that I basically ship everything in this book. Yeah. It's that easy. Clare has this impeccable ability to surpass any average YA pairing, in that she just writes "love" so well. From Gideon and Sophie's charmingly unexpected courtship to Henry and Charlotte's devoted marriage - I was hard pressed to disapprove of any of Clare's impeccable relationships. And then, of course, came the conclusion to the most epic love sage I've ever read: Will, Jem, and Tessa.
Some love triangles are exciting. Some are null, and others are dreadfully irritating. Cassandra Clare's definition of a love triangle is basically an ongoing collection of emotional trauma, heart-wrenching agony, and heart-stopping decisions. I think what really killed me about this was that this truly is a triangle. Will, Jem, and Tessa all have this intense, all-consuming love for one another, that it goes beyond choosing one boy over the other. I remember, when I first picked up "Clockwork Angel", I said something along the lines of, "Wow, Tessa. It must be so hard to have Will and Jem, two hot guys who'd do absolutely anything for you, fall in love with you. Your life is so difficult."
Of course, I was being silly back then.
But now I understand. Cassandra Clare was building a bond between the three that was so intense, the three simply had to be together. With Tessa and Jem's wondrous intimacy, Tessa and Will's sizzling passion, and Jem and Will's beautiful "parabatai", I knew that the series couldn't end without breaking my heart in one way or another.
"And maybe you should stop pitying yourself," he said. "Most people are lucky to have even one great love in their life. You have found two."
But, oh gosh, that ending...that epilogue completely surpassed my expectations. I desperately want to rehash that whole thing right now, but I pride myself on being a spoiler-free blog! So I'll tell you this: Grab a box of tissues and take a deep breath when you hit page 488. After that, your emotions are in immediate danger.
Six years ago, Cassandra Clare swept me into an underground world right below my feet in New York City - and over the past three, she's transported me back in time with the most epic sagas of my generation. I'm only sad that this journey is coming to an end - until I can get my hands on Clare's next installment, "The Dark Artifices", which will be released in 2015. *Drools*
And so I'll finish this review off with a quote right from the novel - one that tattered my poor mundane heart and ripped my emotions to shreds:
"It has been the privilege and the honor of my life to know you."
Goodbye "Infernal Devices". And goodbye Will, Tessa, and Jem.
"Life is a book and there are a thousand pages I have not yet read."

A terrific post from Father Longenecker today that I want to share (Hat tip: New Advent):
It takes other forms as well. There is a tendency amongst some Catholics to turn their religion into an intellectual quest for 'true orthodoxy' or 'solid theology' or 'a message that is relevant for people today.' Others turn it into a search for 'a spirituality that really suits them'. I heard another priest going on the other day about "modern man's search for meaning and how each person must search the depth of their heart to find their heart's true desire and then at that point they will have the Christ encounter." Whaat? Sound like Jean Paul Sartre meets Dorothy Gale from Kansas.
I'm exaggerating, but you get my point.
What I'm realizing more and more is how very far the twenty first century church is from the simple preaching of the gospel and the core of the Catholic faith. What we don't hear is the old time religion. What has gone right over our heads is how influenced we are by modernism and the thought of Rudolph Bultmann who insisted that Christianity was old fashioned and needed to be 'de-mythologized'. He said modern man couldn't deal with the old, out dated cosmology of heaven and hell and sin and repentance and all that stuff. [...]
The gospel message is simple: You don't have to turn it into a quest for the perfect liturgy or a campaign for justice or peace or the creation of the perfect self help group. You don't have to turn it into an intellectual or existential quest to discover your true self or the source of your heart's desire.
You are unhappy and searching for something because you are imperfect. You have fallen short of the glory of God. This condition is called sin. You are a sinner. You are selfish, ego centric, lustful, unforgiving, angry, manipulative, self seeking and proud. You love pleasure rather than God and you will believe any lie as long as it allows you to continue in your sin. If you continue in this condition you will end up becoming more and more unhappy and eventually you will be separated from God, light, love, goodness, truth and beauty forever because that is what you chose.
The New Testament, and the message of the church down the ages is straightforward: "Repent and believe the gospel and be baptized". In other words, "Admit you are a sinner, turn to God for forgiveness. Accept the strange, but compelling truth that Christ died on the cross to forgive your sins. Receive his gift of new life with an open heart with nothing held back. Change your ways. Begin to live the Catholic faith in simplicity and honesty. Empowered by God's grace, live in the church, learn to pray, live with the sacraments, love others. This is the way you follow Christ."
Do, do go and read the whole thing.
Father Longenecker isn't saying that liturgy doesn't matter, or that orthodoxy doesn't matter, or that we can blithely disregard Church teachings so long as we embrace the simple message of the Gospel. Not at all. What he is saying, it seems to me, is that too often we get caught up in these other matters to the extent of not merely missing the simple message of the Gospel, but of making the unfortunate and devastating mistake of thinking that our pursuit of orthodoxy or liturgical correctness or, to be fair, of heterodoxy and liturgical permissiveness is somehow a fair substitution for trying to live our lives according to the message of the Gospel.
In other words, if we get caught up too much in, say, liturgical battles, to the point where we enter every Mass wearing our "Liturgy Police" hats and our best Roman scowls as we prepare to take extensive mental notes to add to our growing letter to the Papal Nuncio as to what everyone from Father to the smallest server is doing wrong today on the one hand, or wearing our Sunday shorts and tie-dye and our best icy smiles as we prepare to pounce on the least hint of Latin or reverence or formality with our special passive-aggressive vestibule chat after Mass on the other, the chances are good that we have lost sight of the simple message of the Gospel, which is that the person who is the polar opposite of ourselves in these liturgical battles might actually be closer to God by virtue of a humble habit of frequent Confession, a devotion to prayer, and an active life of service to the poor than we ourselves are.
And if we get too caught up in thinking that our specific way of living out our vocation (e.g. stay-at-home-mom! plus Catholic schooling! plus homeschooling! plus daily family prayers! plus godly blogging for the heathen! etc.) is the One Truly Right Way of Righteous Rightness, we might forget that the family whose public-schooled kids behave like little angels at Mass on Sunday could conceivably be doing a better job of loving their neighbor and their enemy and everybody else than we are-and that we should seriously not take it for granted based merely on externals that we're doing all that great of a job in the first place.
And if we decide that our particular family's economic status is the perfect one for Christians, with just enough money for all those important things that families ought to provide for their members with a decent amount left over for truly important charities, we might risk sneering at those people who have to do more for more family members with much less than we ourselves think of as "civilized" on the one hand, or snub everybody who has the money to buy more than necessities on the other as being too rich to be worth saving.
And if we spend all of our time fretting about the way other Christians dress, or the four-letter words other Christians use, or the bad movies or The whole of the Law amounts to two things, Jesus told us: you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and all your soul, and all your mind, and all your strength; you shall love your neighbor as yourself. The more we try to follow those two commands, the more we will find that humble, loving, honest spirit that is the best thing about Christianity as it can be lived in the world. And if we want to follow these commands, we have to take up our own cross, and follow Him.

October surprises ~ the theme for the month and especially for this first week. This will be on the world stage and also in your personal life. Likely there will be as many GOOD surprises as 'bad' surprises. It's a balancing act between the benevolent forces and the soulless ones, who would destroy the human race.
On the personal front, this time is a key turning point for many in the area of relationships. Where there has been an ongoing conflict, likely there will either be a good resolution, an 'understanding' reached... or, the relationship will effectively end.
This is important for the future. Given the times ahead, solid relationships are a must. Think: being stranded on a deserted island. Who would you want to be with?
Of course, LOVE is always the sweet cosmic glue, the binding force between all of us human beings. Keep in mind, at this time, 'The Good, Good Vibrations Bombardment'... direct from the angelic realms... is continuing full force. Welcome these loving vibrations.
On the truth front, this month TRUTH blazes brightly across the planet, larger than ever. Meanwhile, the corp-gov criminalization of the people progresses far beyond what many of us ever thought possible.
However, denial of this reality becomes the real enemy. For, only knowing 'the truth' will set us free. We cannot STOP what we keep hidden from ourselves. Thus, every act of courage owns the super power of a star, one that brilliantly lights the way for all of us.
On the AWAKENING front, the golden age of KNOWING is here. This means we as the human race are 'awakening' to what the Controllers have secreted away. For century upon century, like murderous thieves in the night, THEY have stolen our true heritage.
Gold as a commodity may have a certain material value. However, the GOLD within us all, is becoming aware of our true potential and WHO we truly are as the beloveds of the Divine. We are the golden ones.
Further, within this time of AWAKENING, the *false prophets* are now exposed. THOSE who are using and abusing humanity in this way, are found everywhere on the planet, from every walk of life, and from every belief system.
As well, the dark-siders will be bringing forth 'messiah-like' prophets. THEIR intent is to hijack the harmony of the Aquarian Age, and replace it with the hive mind. To protect you and your loved ones, use good sense and your inner discernment.
On the economic front, the corporate stranglehold on the world becomes so obvious to so many, now rises a new breed of individuals determined to slay this dragon of unmitigated greed and corruption.
The cyber warriors will be one group within this 'new breed'. While many already battle in this realm called the worldwide web, their ranks will now grow exponentially.
This week, and for the following month, the stock market, and the economy worldwide, is likely to take a beating, then shoot skyward - like a 'supposedly' resurrected phoenix. All this 'up and down' is for the sake of political expediency, and to keep 'the people' off kilter. And deeply afraid.
The ongoing manipulation of the economy by the bankster gangster crowd is, of course, also for their own vampire-greedy purposes, and will reach a new level of evil this week. THEY want to suck 'the people' dry.
Remember, the only thing that matters during these times is what you've stocked up on, what you have in your possession, what is usable to you - and who your friends are.
On the war front, straight out of their evil bag o' tricks, the new world order psychopaths will use several large false flag events to stir the cauldron of war. This, as the month of October progresses.
This week, look for the threat of 'no oil' from the Mideast to be used as a means to rile up the people, and get them on the side of the establishment. This will fail for the most part.
On the home front, as non-issue, idiocracy news rules the mainstream media, more and more people will continue to look for, and rely on alternative sources. Now, a new breed of journalist muckraker rises from the ashes of the lying, dying corp-gov news empire.
On the food front, Farm workers needed! Sadly, there are small speciality farmers who can't find workers, even though they're willing to pay top dollar. This is not from a lack of available talent, but because of the black-widow grip the welfare system has on the people.
Get smart, those of you who are able bodied. Take advantage of this opportunity, and learn how to grow food. Nothing will be more valuable in the future. Nothing.
On the land changes front, BREAKING NEWS: NASA/NOAA Sends Geomagnetic Storm "WARNING" ~
"This is the second strong warning the space and atmospheric agencies have put out for cycle 24. And, from last week's forecast: "certain changes on the sun will cause a huge disturbance in the Earth force. For the future, this blast of solar frequency will cause some positive genetic alterations in the animal population."
On the energy front, this is a confusing picture right now. For one thing, the dark-side factions are in-fighting over how fast THEY will severely limit energy usage - in their bid for complete control of the people. Meanwhile, inventions are hot and heavy, but the inventors of these energy devices have no 'good' way to enter the general marketplace.
To state once again: "Consider setting up a backup energy system - any kind you can manage."
On the paranormal front, CONTACT is escalating. Contact with good angelic beings, contact with time travelers - contact with extraterrestrials and inner-terrestrials. For, the time has come to free the human race from the Controllers
On the really bad news front, MANY will now be 'feeling' the diabolical matrix of imprisonment that has been setup by the dark-side globalists. Some individuals will go wild trying to break free. Sadly, this also means others will free themselves by taking their lives. That, instead of battling back against their sinister, soulless captors.
Also, look for the downsizing of the economy to take a bigger toll on the people.
On the good news front, the theme is Creativity Unleashed ~ The Time is Now.
Most everyone on the Mother Earth will be awash in this vibe. To what degree depends on how open we are to becoming a purely creative being.
Across the planet, there will be leaps and bounds in creativity, as has been spoken about before. This means, of course, not only within artist personality types, but creativity begins to reign over every aspect of our lives. Also, those who haven't demonstrated much creativity will now do so, and some of them will leap to the forefront.
If you desire, intentionally open yourself to this new cosmic vibe, then watch what happens. You might be in for a very nice surprise.
To quote from a previous forecast: "For, we 'the people' are resonating to the new cosmic frequencies of the Aquarian Age, and our genetic structure is being activated, enhanced. We are becoming new beings."
On the freedom front, HEADLINE: Secession! Lakota Sioux Nation Leaves The Union! *"We are no longer citizens of the United States of America and all those who live in the five-state area that encompasses our country are free to join us," long-time Native American radical leader Russell Means said.*
As stated in the prior forecast: "From this point forward, renegades will rise from every corner of the Earth, and be from all walks of life. Now, the angels awaken these brave fierce ones to their true destiny. For, the time has come to claim liberty for ALL."
AND, SO IT BEGINS.
Trendwise, there will be a seismic shift in the undercurrents of society as the people awaken to the truth and their power. This will be noticeable in the behavioral changes of those around you.
This trend only escalates, as said in a previous forecast: "Right now, there are several undercurrents rising more and more to the surface.
