Sin The Bad Witch God Of The Week

Sin The Bad Witch God Of The Week
There is a full moon tonight, January 10, so it seemed appropriate to name a moon deity as The Bad Witch's God of the Week. And who better than Sin, the Sumerian moon god from Mesopotamian mythology, who I have named my garden cat after.

Sin was worshipped in the ancient city of Ur and is depicted as an old man with a flowing beard. He is also known as the Lord of Wisdom. Sin had a beard made of lapis lazuli and rode a winged bull. He was married to Ningal, which means "Great Lady". Their children were Unu (Sun) and Inanna.

Sin is usually represented by the crescent moon rather than the full moon, but in the circumstances I am sure he won't mind being honoured now.
