I sometimes think God is punishing me with all of this need for a routine, AGAIN, in my life.
"BY BOB DEMARCO"
"ALZHEIMER'S READING ROOM"
Mother Teresa
I suspect, actually I know, that some Alzheimer's caregivers wonder if God is punishing them? Others wonder if God is punishing the person living with Alzheimer's?
Personally, I often wonder, is their a reason, a spiritual reason for this experience?
For example, is the experience of living with dementia preparing Dotty for something more important? Is she learning something that is preparing her in some way for the spiritual world? Is the experience of living with dementia somehow allowing Dotty to complete her physical life before she moves on to another world?
I do believe that my Alzheimer's experience is preparing me to accomplish something important. Will I be accomplishing that mission after Dotty passes? Accomplishing that mission here on earth? Or, accomplishing that mission somewhere else? Is their life after death? Will I need what I learned during my caregiving experience in
"I sometimes think God is punishing me with all of this need for a routine, AGAIN, in my life. I had looked forward to not having to live by routine when we retired, but here we are, forced back into routine. I know you are right about that, Bob, but it has been among the hardest things for me to accept about the AD world".
What do you think? You are welcome to comment below in the Add New Comment area, or submit an article around this topic.
Perhaps God is allowing us to learn something that is necessary to complete our lives here on earth.

"BUT ONE SHOULD PRAY IN ONE'S HEART DURING A SACRED CEREMONY; THIS IS THE PURPOSE OF THE CEREMONY, TO PURIFY THE PARTICIPANTS BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE.
- Thomas Yellowtail, CROW
How do you know if you are praying from your heart or from your head? Pray from your head and you will feel nothing; pray from your heart and you will feel feelings. You may feel sorrow, you may feel joy, you may want to cry, depending on what you are praying for. During the ceremony, the cleansing will take place. The Medicine Wheel teaches the four directions of inner power: emotional, mental, physical and spiritual. The prayer controls the emotional, mental and physical. When we ask for purification of our feelings, our mental mind and our physical body, the spiritual direction causes the cleansing to happen.

This is the greatest truth. But when we truly understand that life is difficult, once we truly accept it - then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.
Life is a series of problem. We have to solve them and we have taught our children also to solve them.Discipline is the basic set of tools we require to solve lifes problems. Without Discipline we can solve nothing. If we have less discipline, we can solve only lesser problems. With more disciples we can solve many problems. So discipline in life is very important. There are different types of problem we suffer in life, depending up on the nature of problem. A problem may evoke frustration or grief, sadness, loneliness, guilt, regret, and anxiety. These are very painful feeling.Problems are the cutting edge that distinguishes between success and failure. Problems can call forth our courage and wisdom. It is because of problems we grow mentally and spiritually. Then we encourage the human spirit furthermore which try to solve the problems. So, we must be mentally and spiritually strong to solve the problems of the life. At the same time we should maintain discipline in life which teaches us how to suffer and how to grow. There are different way to handle different problems like a process of scheduling the pain and pleasure of life in such a way as to enhance the pleasure by meeting and experiencing the pain first and getting it over with then you can enjoy the pleasure part. It is the only decent way to live life. Therefore lets us inculcate in ourselves that we just have to be mentally and spiritually healthy. Then we can solve the problems of the life easily. And can lead a happy life.Natasha

A friend of mine inquired this evening as to the potential meaning of a dream in which her teeth are shattered. While we are each the ultimate masters and mistresses of our own dreams, I too, have had recurring "teeth dreams" ever since I was a little girl (and I am now a grandmother of six). Consequently, I am inclined to believe that my own significant experience with "teeth dreams" qualifies me to interpret such dreams in a general manner.
Generally, the turnover of teeth can represent a period of powerful change or transition driven by the Divine Feminine force of fire. Teeth dreams are good dreams signifying that Goddess is driving forward a major transition in one's life. Goddess is calling the dreamer up to the task of further spiritual development, to do greater magic.
When teeth are shattered, this usually signifies that our illusions are about to be shattered. How strongly we hold onto or how easily we surrender the illusions Goddess wishes to remove from us largely determines how painfully or peacefully we may experience the transition through which our illusions will be shattered.
Letting go of our illusions is a very important part of spiritual development - to be engaged and challenged by Goddess to do so is a challenge that is merited in some way. Only the worthy are called up to the test.
Teeth are also directly

Uncover your truest, deepest, most peaceful self - the self that innately recognizes and responds to the power of Sacred Geometry.
Your deepest self responds to Sacred Geometry and knows its healing power.
My name is Nicolaas Maritz, and I'm here to offer you that power.
I offer two services:
o First, I create Sacred Geometry art. These are copper and crystal healing art sculptures based on Sacred Geometry patterns, and unusual photo prints of those sculptures. I add a unique element to the prints to enhance their effectiveness, one that you will not find in other Sacred Geometry art. But more about that later...
o Second, I offer spiritual life coaching, using the power of Sacred Geometry to help you transcend your ego and find true peace and deep joy.
Why Sacred Geometry?
Viewing Sacred Geometry healing art raises your vibration, enhancing your awareness that you create your reality, while helping you create a better reality. But many techniques make this claim. Why is Sacred Geometry different?
You've probably heard about right brain and left brain. The right brain is said to be creative, while the left brain is logical.
When you meditate, use Law of Attraction techniques, or other metaphysical techniques, you're using your right brain but not your left. During a metaphysical experience, your right brain can clearly understand how beneficial these techniques are, while your left brain isn't paying much attention.
Later, when you rely on your memory of the metaphysical experience, your logical left brain kicks in and tells you it was merely pleasant. If only it had been more involved in the experience, your left brain might not be so skeptical!
As a result, you minimize the power of the experience. This hampers its effectiveness and lessens your commitment to continue.
You can harmonize your left and right brain.
Sacred Geometry, with its lines and angles, involves the left brain as well as the right. This whole-brain involvement causes you to more deeply integrate this spiritual technique. This makes it more effective than other techniques as well as a wonderful enhancement to those other techniques.
My photography method takes this a step further.
My healing art prints are photos of my sculptures. But they are no ordinary photos!
First, the copper sculptures themselves contain high energetic frequencies, partly because they are created as Sacred Geometry patterns and partly because copper is a superconductive metal. I often add clear quartz crystals, which also carry a high frequency.
I photograph the sculptures in the dark. These photos capture the frequency of the light waves.
I then use software to turn the photos into stereograms (3D images), and I saturate them with color, as each color contains a frequency that corresponds to one of the seven main chakras.
Because the images are stereograms, when viewed through 3D glasses*, they further stimulate both sides of the brain as your eyes work together to make sense of the image. Each eye corresponds to the opposite side of your brain (i.e., information from the right eye goes to the left brain and vice versa).
This causes an even deeper integration of the two sides of the brain.
For best effect, you should meditate on your print for 10 to 15 minutes each day. This can be done with or without 3D glasses.
With a spiritual evolvement in mind Nicolaas creates Sacred Geometry sculptures that explore a metaphysical cosmic energy. When I create these sculptures I undergo an emotional healing and my soul transcends time and space.
Nicolaas lives in the Cradle of Humankind near Kromdraai, a world heritage site in South Africa and a place where the oldest human DNA on the planet has been found.
Living here in relative isolation I have been inspired to create a visual and energy interpretation that explores moments of Transformation in consciousness.

DES O'NEILL
SECOND OPINION: Spirituality is an important aspect of healthcare
THE PRACTICE of geriatric medicine covers a surprising amount of ground. This includes general medicine, gerontology (the sciences of ageing), rehabilitation, palliative care and expertise in specific diseases of ageing, such as dementia and stroke, but our practice stretches us in other ways as well.
Many of our patients are compromised in expressing their wishes by dementia, so an interest in ethics goes with the territory. Indeed, much of the published Irish research in medical ethics stems from departments of geriatric medicine.
Yet I broached new territory last week when delivering on a request to talk about spirituality and health at the Eucharistic Congress. For me personally, I was reminded of the line in TS Eliot's Four Quartets that "each venture is a new beginning, a raid on the inarticulate".
I quickly realised that I was raiding not only my own inarticulacy but also an even deeper inarticulacy in the Irish medical profession.
Spirituality is internationally recognised as an important aspect of healthcare: the majority of US medical schools include a module on spirituality in the medical curriculum, and the General Medical Council in the UK has helpful guidance on personal beliefs and spirituality for patients and doctors alike.
Yet outside of palliative care, there is virtually nothing in the Irish medical literature, or that of the Irish Medical Council. Possibly as a counter-reaction to the unhealthy dominance of the Catholic Church on Irish intellectual life in Ireland until recent times, the atrocious mishandling of the child abuse scandals by senior church men and the frequently rancorous tenor of media discourse (some commentators remind me of the food critic in a TC Boyle story who has lost all her tastebuds and consequently gives every restaurant a drubbing), this is an area of medical practice defined by silence and absence of discussion.
A victim of this is the understanding that spirituality is a broad concept applicable to those of all faiths and none, and that regardless of our own personal beliefs we need to develop ways to support expression of this aspect of our shared humanity in healthcare settings.
There are many definitions of spirituality, nearly all of which focus on meaning, hope, transcendence and a relationship with a higher being or force, such as nature or God.
Common among many accounts is the concept of communion - with self, others, nature, and for some, with a God.
In the preparation of my talk I learnt much from the international medical literature, and particularly innovative approaches such as the fascinating Dignity Therapy. But I equally learnt much from finding out what was going on in my own hospital.
Although aware of a pastoral presence, the formal linkages are few, and an interdenominational team is providing a remarkable service which deserves wider recognition.
No longer does one "call for the chaplain" in Tallaght hospital when patients are in extremis: the pastoral care team, lay and religious, pro-actively visit the wards and make contact with patients in the context of a listening and sympathetic ear, and on the basis of consent.
This welcome sense of access to all is consistent with a holistic vision of care, one which has a broader reach than predominantly for those who are near death.
From this first level of pastoral care, patients can then access the sacramental aspects as they wish.
For example, for Catholics, a thrice-weekly round by 70 volunteer ministers of the Eucharist is available to those who desire it, with a take-up of about two-thirds of the patients over the course of the year.
This two-stage approach - spiritual support for all and access to sacramental support for those who wish for it - provides a matrix within which healthcare workers can negotiate, particularly for those working in settings without the good fortune of having formal pastoral care, such as general practice.
Delivering these thoughts at the Congress itself was both stimulating and interesting, with a lively and critical audience. The wider programme was fascinating, and I felt comfortable in a setting which included Mark Hederman's entertaining and wise talk on James Joyce and Catholicism.
It is likely that good medical and nursing care in Ireland often incorporates unspoken pastoral elements, but we need to do better as Irish doctors in our research and education so as to develop a therapeutic articulacy and a better understanding of the appropriate framing of spiritual needs in healthcare.
