If all you care about is beautiful or interesting artwork then you will enjoy this book. If you demand factual information, as much as possible with regard to the subject matter, then you will be horribly disappointed in this book.
The positives about this book include the artwork and the entertaining style of writing. The negatives of the book include practically little-to-no actual research going in to writing the book, hence the book is filled with false information and outright nonsense. Ninety-nine percent of the book concerns the zombie of the Voodou religion. This would be fine if the information provided was correct. Unfortunately the information is not correct in the book. The author doesn't understand the difference between Haitian Voodou, Louisiana Voodoo, and Hoodoo. In fact the author even states that Hoodoo is the "white form of Voodoo" and that it is practiced in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas! Of course just a basic google search will reveal that Hoodoo is not Voodoo and what is practiced in the Ozark Mountains is more properly referred to as Appalachian folk magic, or "granny magic". If this isn't perplexing enough, the author then contradicts himself later on in the book and states that Hoodoo is associated with Charleston, SC and New Orleans, LA. Of course he is a lot closer with this last passage. What the author simply fails to comprehend is that zombies have absolutely nothing to do with Hoodoo. To add insult to injury the author even claims that famous Hoodoo and New Orleans Voodoo practitioners, such as The Black Constable, Dr. Buzzard, and Marie Laveau, raised zombies. I simply cannot forgive this nonsense. I was extremely disappointed by this book, especially since a previous book by the same author titled, Biblio Vampiro was so good.
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest, I give this book a 1. Do not spend your money on this book. If you must read it, then check your local library.
