Excerpt from T. Thorn Coyle's "Evolutionary Witchcraft":
There are other practices you can do throughout the day to remind yourself to ground, center and bring yourself fully into the moment at hand. My favorite is to create "keys" for myself. These keys are attention tricks that remind me of my spiritual life and my reasons for attempting to work on my self. My most effective key is to pause and really "notice" every time I am about to put my hand on a doorknob. I will take a breath, look at the knob, feel my body, and let a calm space open up inside as I reach for and turn the knob. This can be done in about five seconds. Another key I use is to notice my butt and thighs in the chair as I am sitting at my computer. This reminds me to stay in my body, anchored to my breath, and not let my mind spin off in disconnected fantasies that eat my energy.
You can key your reminders to turning on the lights or opening the refrigerator or drinking a glass of water. A key should be something simple, yet something you do often enough that it will serve you well as reminding factor. You are connected. You are not just living in a world created inside your head, but in a breathing, living, functioning universe. This exercise is not only a way to remind yourself of your spiritual practice, but a way to notice that you have a place in the larger world.

So Im kind of new to ceremonial/ritual magick. I dont consider it witchcraft only to improve my spirituality, but I suppose on the outside it would be considered witchcraft. I only say this because I see myself as a Christian Mystic as I dont identify with any other religion besides christianity but without going into the mysticism part christianity doesnt answer all my questions about life, etc.
Since Im not apart of any "tradation" or "system" how do I determine what correspondences work for me? Is it trial by error? by reading a book? So far I have just been choosing what feels right and what Im drawn too, but Im recently started to think about creating a pernament sacred space in my room and Im having trouble finding the right "cleansing" technique - for rituals I use a bell. Im going to be using a part of my room that doesnt get used often.
Im thinking of buying Hollands Grimoire of Magickal Correspondences: A Ritual Handbook to help with correspondences but since Im not part of any tradition or system Im not sure how much help it will be.
Thoughts?

Spirit guides are disembodied entities who move between the spirit and the material world in order to provide guidance or counseling to a living person, usually someone who possesses the ability to communicate in some way with the spirit world already. However, some believe that each of us has a spirit guide and only those who have this ability to communicate with spirits can recognize their presence.
Generally, spirit guides are special in other ways. Most believe these guides are the souls of people who have been reincarnated sufficiently to be released from the cycle. Because of their experiences and knowledge gained from these reincarnations, they are able to share with the living a greater wisdom.
How Do You Know if You Have a Spirit Guide?
Obviously, if you have ever been able to communicate with a spirit who claims to be your guide then this is powerful evidence that you have one. Communication can come in a number of forms. Some people claim to have seen their spirit guides manifested in the flesh.
Other methods of communication include astral projection. In this method, you actually leave your body and are able to travel in a different plain of reality. While in this state, you can make contact with your spirit guide. Visualisation and meditation can sometimes also open the doors of communication between the two worlds.
In many cases, you may never have a direct encounter with your spirit guide. However, that doesn't mean you do not have a guide. Many people simply sense the presence of these guides in their lives.
How Will Spirit Guides Counsel Me?
If you are able to communicate at will with your spirit guide through meditation or astral projection, for example, then you can seek them out when you have questions.
Another common way of communication is through dreams. Have you ever faced a difficult situation or a dilemma only to wake up the next day feeling confident that you have found a solution? If you have then that may have been your spirit guide communicating with you through your dreams.
Sometimes you will simply sense the urging from your spirit guide to take one action over another. For example, if you are trying to make an important decision, you may feel yourself leaning towards one side or another automatically without giving it any thought. That initial reaction could be traced back to guidance from your spiritual companion.
Are Spirit Guides Always Human?
Native Americans for centuries have believed in animal spirit guides. In fact, this belief is an intricate part of shamanistic teachings. For them, the animal spirits guides are sources of wisdom. For example, the crow is viewed as an intermediary between the world of the living and of the dead because they believe it carries the souls to the other world. They possess wisdom about ancestors and about living without fear of the unknown.
While these beliefs are very strong among many people today, most individuals who have described their spirit guides see them in human form.

There are many branches of Witchcraft and of Wizardry and each Witch and Wizard contributes in their own way, using their special talents and gifts.
One of the branches that I, the Wizard, belong to cares for sick and injured humans. We use magic potions, magic words and instructions and we harness the power of lightening to repair human flesh. We occasionally bring the dead back to life.
The Witch is an artist, teacher and bringer of light and love in the community. We both work always with the intention of harming none, for the good of all and according to free will.
Together and with others, another of our branches focuses on raising and training young Witches and Wizards. The young are trained in many of the ways of Witchcraft and Wizardry and protected from passive, addictive or mindless activities that would weaken their powers - such as, in these times, TV, gossip, computer games, negative beliefs and consumerism.
They are instead encouraged into creative activities and guided to find their own special talents.
Another wise activity is growing magical foods and herbs for nourishing and healing humans. We use no chemicals on our crops instead we use organics, bio-dynamics and permaculture.
The Great Time has now come. Many non-magical folk are ready to wake from their slumber and learn how to live true to themselves. The world is transforming. Many Wizards and Witches are now focused on sharing our way knowledge and way of life in ways that non-magical folk can understand and learn - so they to can become magical. All around you there are wise ones working in many ways to awaken other humans. Some write songs that touch people's souls, others create stunning artworks that help non-magical people to perceive the beauty around them.
Some Wizards and Witches choose to live ordinary lives with a magical presence so that all around them are inspired. They may be that rare telephone call center person who is cheerful, patient and helpful and really brightens your day.
A key challenge for aspiring Wizards and Witches is to find which branches they are called to. One of the key tools for this challenge is for the apprentice to follow their dreams - no matter how impossible they seem. This is the essence of a Witch or Wizard's work.

3 APPROACHES TO FINDING YOUR POWER ANIMAL
By Bill on January 9, 2011 - 5:08pm Share
First a little background on power animals and their importance from ShamanLinks:
In the shamanic belief every thing is alive and carries with it power and wisdom. POWER ANIMALS ARE AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF SHAMANIC PRACTICE. THEY ARE THE HELPING SPIRIT WHICH ADD TO THE POWER OF THE SHAMAN AND ARE ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESS IN ANY VENTURE UNDERTAKEN BY THE SHAMAN.Shamans believe that everyone has power animals - animal spirits which reside with each individual adding to their power and protecting them from illness, acting similarly to a guardian angel. EACH POWER ANIMAL THAT YOU HAVE INCREASES YOUR POWER SO THAT ILLNESSES OR NEGATIVE ENERGY CANNOT ENTER YOUR BODY. The spirit also lends you the wisdom of its kind. A hawk spirit will give you hawk wisdom, and lend you some of the attributes of hawk.Everyone is thought to have a few of these guardian power animals or it is thought that the individual could not survive childhood. Over the course of her or his life the person may have several. If a power animal leaves and one does not come to take its place the individual is considered, by the shaman, to be disempowered and therefore vulnerable to illness and bad luck.SparrowHawkHaven talks about how we find our power animals:
Working with a Power Animal is a crucial part of doing one's shamanic work - in fact, it is the core and the essence of being a shaman. The spiritual guides in their animal form lend their powers to the wizard, healer, witch doctor, allowing him to look into future, cure disease both mental, and physical, cast off demons and perform rituals in their community. What I want to explore in this post is the area around acquisition of one's Power Animal. Over the years of shamanic practice I have encountered three major approaches towards that subject:- 'shamanic' method of Michael Harner- 'pragmatic westerner's' method of Ted Andrews- 'magical' method of Emma Restall OrrThe post goes into detail in the 3 methods.
Using what would be considered the Shamanic method, I found my power animal from doing a journey that Sandra Ingerman has in her book, "Shamanic Journeying: A Beginner's Guide." She provides great context and an easy to follow process to find your power animal.

From Afrik-News:A human rights group in Malawi is causing a stir as it embarks on a mission to gather 10,000 signatures from locals to force President Bingu wa Mutharika free several jailed witches.Association of Secular Humanism (ASH) says most of the convicts are women jailed for teaching witchcraft to children. Reports say some are doing jail time of up to six years.
"I'm asking you to sign this petition to help us reach our goal of 10,000 signatures. I care deeply about this cause, and I hope you will support our efforts," a senior official of the association, Harold Williams is quoted saying.
The petition reads: "Belief in witchcraft is widely held in Malawi by people of all levels of education and stature in society. Whereas the law does not accept the reality of witchcraft, the Police and judicial authorities, many of whom share the belief, distort the law to punish those who are accused of witchcraft"
"It is mainly the elderly, men and women, who are accused of witchcraft and there are many very elderly and infirm imprisoned throughout Malawi - sentenced for up to 6 years without anything that would pass as substantive evidence in courts which do not accept superstition and suspicion as adequate."
And from the New York Times:Accusations of witchcraft in Africa have gained increasing attention because of the severe impact they can have on the lives of those accused, including imprisonment, deprivation of property, banishment from villages and in some cases physical violence.
The human-rights law program I direct recently partnered with an N.G.O. in Malawi to run a mobile legal-aid clinic focusing on witchcraft cases in two rural communities.
Men, women and children flocked to our clinic seeking legal assistance. The cases were challenging and engaged the question of how to confront accusations of witchcraft, particularly when children and elderly women disproportionately bear the brunt of such accusations.
The persecution of accused witches has not historically been confined to Africa. Witch-hunts have occurred in Europe, America, ancient Rome, Aztec Mexico, Russia, China and India. But the practice persists in poor settings in part because witchcraft can be used in communities without routine access to modern medicine and science to explain seemingly inexplicable instances of death and misfortune.

fetish
{fet'-ish}
A fetish is an object believed to have magical powers; it may be either a natural object, such as a shell, or an artifact, such as a wood carving. The word is derived from the Portuguese feitico, meaning a charm, talisman, or AMULET. Portuguese sailors coined the term in the 15th century when they observed the veneration that West-Coast Africans had for such objects, which they wore on their persons.
The most important aspects of the fetish are that it is believed to embody the power of the sacred and that it is portable, making it always accessible to the bearer. Auguste Comte and Charles de Brosses interpreted the fetish as a basis for their theories concerning the origin of religion. Today the term is popularly used to refer to an object or idea that receives superstitious or unquestioning trust or reverence. It is also used in psychiatry to refer to the inordinate or pathological fascination a person may have for an inanimate object.

The Death programs built into our genetic and hence behavioral and emotional structure are the price we pay for the capacity for sexual reproduction which alone allows for evolutionary change. Only organisms which reproduce asexually, to replicate endless identical copies of their very simple forms, are immortal. Two conjunctions with the black power are of particular interest to the magician: the casting of destruction spells and the avoidance of premature death.
So called "Chod" rites are a ritual rehearsal of death in which the Death-self is invoked to manifest its knowledge and wisdom. Traditionally conceived of as a black robed skeletal figure armed with a scythe, the Death-self is privy to the mysteries of aging, senescence, morbidity, necrosis, entropy and decay. It is often also possessed of a rather wry and world-weary sense of humour.
Surrounding himself with all the symbols and paraphernalia of death, the magician invokes his Death-self in a Chod rite for one of the two purposes. Firstly the experience of the Death-self and the black gnosis brings the knowledge of what it feels like to begin dying and thus prepares the magician to resist the manifestation of actual premature death in himself and perhaps others by, as it were, knowing the enemy. A demon is just a god acting out of turn. In the course of various Chod rites the magician may well experiment in shamanic style by invoking into himself the visualized entities and symbols that he associates with various diseases, to practice banishing them. Thus the Death-self has some uses in medical diagnosis and divination.
Secondly, the death-self may be invoked as a vantage point from which to cast destruc-tion spells. In this case the invocation takes the same general form but the conjuration is usually called an Entropy Rite. One should always look for any possible alternative to the exercise of destructive magic, for to be forced into the position of having to use it is a position of weakness. In each case the magician must plant in his subconscious a mechanism by which the target could come to grief and then project it with the aid of a sigil or perhaps an evoked servitor. Entropy magic works by sending information to the target which encourages auto-destructive behavior.
Entropy magic differs from Combat magic of the Red Gnosis in several important respects. Entropy magic is always performed with complete stealth in the cold fury of the black saturine gnosis. The aim is a cold blooded surgical strike of which the target is given no warning. The magician is not interested in getting into a fight, merely in a quick and efficient kill. The supreme advantage of such attacks is that they are rarely perceived as such by the targets who have nothing but themselves and blind chance to blame for the disasters which even magnanimity in victory does little to assuage. One disadvantage however, is that it is rather difficult to present invoices to clients for effects that appear to be due entirely to natural causes.
God forms of the black power are legion; if the simple form of a cloaked skeleton with scythe does not adequately symbolize the Death-self then such forms as Charon, Thanatos, Saturn, Chronos, Hekate the Hag, Dark sister Atropos, Anubis, Yama and Kali may serve.
Servitors of the black power are rarely established for long term general use, partly because their use is likely to be infrequent and partly because they can be danger to their owner, thus they tend to be made and dispatched for specific single tasks.

Eleven Spiritual Laws of Wicca
* Witches know that no truths are absolute. There is no one absolute way to interpret reality, to behave, or to live. There is no single correct way to follow the Pagan/Wiccan religion, pray, celebrate the sacred days, or reach our peak of spirituality.
* Witches understand that the Universe consists of perfect balance. Everything has an opposite that is not necessarily equal to negativity.
* Witches realize that for every action there is an equal reaction. This is the Law of Karma, or the Three-fold Law of Return.
* Witches know that we are all one. We are all connected in a spiritual way. Everything we do influences ourselves as well as others.
* Witches understand that the Ultimate Act of Spirituality is the act of positive creation through love. We should therefore attempt to concentrate our energies on positive creativity. This is our primary mission, our most important foundation during our spiritual Pagan/Wiccan journey.
* Witches realize that the energy created through worship and ritual manifests as a circular stream of positive energy. What we give to the Spirit will return to us.
* Witches should never close themselves to knowledge, because it is through the continuous process of learning and teaching that we raise our personal vibrations.
* Witches use the magick circle as a physical/non-physical representation of a church/temple on the Earth Plane, and must purify themselves mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually before casting and/or entering the circle. The magick circle is considered a sacred and holy place for the Witch, and arguments, hatred, evil, anger, and all other forms of negativity of any kind are FORBIDDEN within it, because these negative energies will corrupt the positive energies that the Witch/Witches are working to acheive.
* Witches use the energies around them to assist them in raising power. These energies are manifested in the five pentagonal elements-Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit, and Witches also raise their own energies to Spirit, so that their bodies become conduits for divine and Earthly energies now used to manifest their needs and desires. The greatest energy manifests as love.
* Witches use common sense and do not share their mysteries with fools or with those who misunderstand the Pagan/Wiccan religion.
* Witches do not point out the identities of other Witches to the general public, as discrimination still haunts many of our brothers and sisters.

Spells are simply active prayers. Just like prayers, spells are used to catalyze or create change in one's life or someone else's, most often that of a loved one.
They are petitions to the Higher Powers to create the change. Spells are used to connect with our divine selves using our own energies to create changes.
Ordinarily, Wiccans/Witches will not perform a spell for anyone who has not asked and had given them permission. Spells, like those that use love magic to gain the good graces of an individual or curses are considered manipulative.
Anything that manipulates or goes against the free will of anybody is considered wrong.
Wiccan spells
The Old English term for witch is Wicca. They used it to counter all the negative stereotypes that society gave to witchcraft.
Wiccans use spells. These are rituals and prayers carried out to ask for divine help in a certain aspect of life. However, these must adhere to the Wiccan Rede, the witchcraft code of conduct.
The overall consideration is that any spell used to manipulate, dominate, or control another person is forbidden. The Wiccan Rede rules that a witch may engage in any action as long as it is carefully considered and that their actions do not harm anyone including themselves.
All of witchcraft is ruled by the Threefold Law. This is the belief that any action taken by any witch affecting another person will come back to the witch threefold, whether good or bad.
Constructive spells
Constructive spells should be done during the waxing of the moon, the time when the moon is full and bright. These are spells performed for luck, some fertility rites and spells used for protection.
To achieve the best end results, all witches agree that spells should be practiced while in a positive mood. Most often, too, in the practice of witchcraft, they have aids in spells to guarantee good results.
These aids in witchcraft, believed to have magical properties, include different herbs and leaves. One example is the bay leaf used often to invoke positive energy.
Consecration or Purification
The dictionary defines consecration as a "formal dedication to a religious or divine purpose." In the practice of witchcraft, consecration should be practiced before any tool can be used.
Consecration is a form of purification and is done with salt, water and incense. These all stand for the five elements of nature - water, earth, fire, air and spirit.
It is important that consecration used for witchcraft be done in a positive state of mind. This will incorporate the spirit part of the elements.
Consecration is actually to ask for and gain approval of the God and Goddess for what is about to be performed.
Wiccan God and Goddess
In witchcraft, all spells are basically used to channel the power of the Wiccan God and Goddess to initiate positive changes and for the resolution of problems. In this regard, a spell-giver must know the phase of the moon is in while performing the spells.
As an example, it is best to do banishing spells in the waning of the moon when it is dark. Sample spells include hope for the end of illness, warding off destructive insects in farms, and many others.

Arts of the Night invites the reader into a history of the practices of witchcraft by focusing on Mesopotamia as the possible cradle for the arts and crafts popularly assigned to what we name as 'witches'. In this book it is suggested that witchcraft is a poetic reality that pertains to humankind at large. The work had as its working premise the six volumes of 'Magic and Witchcraft in Europe' edited by Ankarloo and Clark (published by Penn State University Press) but grew soon enough out from this framework. It is my hope that by tracing the history of witchcraft from Mesopotamia and to modern days to provide a greater sensitivity for what the Craft might be by presenting the various practices and philosophies that molded the wise Arts. It is my hope that this tome will heighten the awareness of the Wise Arts being originally a traditional vestige of the great mysteries. In our corrupted world, marked by all forms of traditional deviations, I present this work in the hope that it can aid a little bit to restoring the Craft to its rightful place and order.
The book can be ordered here.

There is magic and energy within every living thing. Magic lies within all lives and the oddity that is mankind. Many of us are guilty of not following our own given heritage or following our chosen path. We may get too busy or have to hide our beliefs. There are no rules along your path or boundaries that you must follow only the beliefs that you have. Did you know that you can use anything contained in nature as a charm or talisman? Today as I was in the beauty of the day I found an acorn and asked of the goddess to let me enchant this small piece of the earth. I charged it with a wish, my version of a simple earth invocation.
As I held this small token of mother earth I could feel its power it shone and brightened at the touch of the streams of the sun light. With the spectrum of the rays of the sun I charge my charm with the power that I have sought. Everything that is around you right now has its very own energy, look around do you feel yourself being drawn to an object? Please stop reading for a moment and pick the object up. What do you feel? Now if you will say the words that are within your heart. Ask the god or goddess to invoke this charm. Do you feel the object responding?
Many of you will be taken back. Are you searching for an answer? Ask the powers that be for the want that you wish of them. Tell them the truth as they know what you are going to say, show them respect, show them what your very essence is made of. The god and goddess know all, see all and are part of everything. Now invoke your charm keep it within your sight or within arms length of your touch for this whole day. Your charm will impart that of which you have asked if it is meant to be. If you have a book of shadows you may want to record your thoughts in your book of light. If you do not have a book of shadows of your own you should start one now. Your book of shadows can be as simple as your online blog or as intricate as a hand parchment book.
There are many witches and wizards that use a simple journal to impart the wisdom of the magic that lies within. Many of us do not have the time nor the supplies to do elaborate rituals daily but it can be a form of ritual to write your magic musings down every day. When you put the words of light down in cyber space or on paper you are doing magic in its most basic form. You must never forget that magic is neither here nor there, it is within you, around you, in front and behind, there is magic within all things and it is up to you the conjurer to bring it about. When the universe has reached out across the bounds of time and reached into the sorcerer/conjurer and made their will the will of the universe so mote it be. As you go about this day let the magic soar see with your 3rd eye feel within the depths of then and now and make each moment count.

By Dr. Kheti A. Sahure
Before delving into this subject matter, let us begin with a definition for the terms "Ritual, Spell, Spellwork, and Magick" solely based upon my many years of experience as a practitioner of the Occult Metaphysical Sciences, Alternative Religions and Spiritualities:
WHAT IS A RITUAL?
Performed generally for its symbolic value (as in a rite), a ritual is a planned progression or series of actions and activities geared toward the accomplishment of a specific goal in accordance with religious, spiritual, or social customs of the past to the here and now.
WHAT IS SPELLWORK AND A SPELL?
A technique or methodology for physically raising the power and the manipulating energy by way of magick and/or the useful tools of applied occult metaphysics. A spell is a magickal formulary of spoken, written, or the mentalization of specific words performed with varying degrees of magickal and meditative intent or purpose. Often, a spell is performed only as an incantation without being included in a full ritual or ceremony. For example, a simple (easy) Candle Spell can be performed for something "minor" that you or your client needs. On the other hand, you can adapt your spells or spellwork for more complex circumstances. There are many branches of spells and spellwork ranging from healing to love to maleficium (i.e., malevolent sorcery or hexing).
WHAT IS MAGICK?
The term "Magick" is often spelled with a "k" in order to distinguish it from the artistic practice of Illusionist, Sleight of Hand, and Parlor Magic for entertainment purposes. Performing Magick is based upon the practitioner's ability and "will" to bring about (cause) and affect change in people, places, courses of events, circumstances, and physical objects through the elements or elementals (Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Aether or "Light-Bearing or Spirit"), mystical (mystickal), paranormal or supernatural (metaphysical) means. If a practitioner is employing Ancient Chinese Philosophy in his or her magickal workings, then she or he will work with the Five Elements or Wu Xing (i.e., the "five movements, phases, or steps/stages over elements") of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.
Furthermore, the proper working and exercising of spells and rituals are imperative in any spiritual or divinatory system. Whether it be Low (Folk) Magick, Ceremonial (High or Ritual) Magick, Sympathetic Magick, or Black Magick (the Dark Arts), all have their own form of and approach to rituals and spellwork. Very good examples of highly ritualistic religio-spiritual systems include but are not limited to: The Craft, Khemeticism and Tameran (Ancient Egyptian religions), Qabalah (Hermetic Kabbalah - distinguishing between Judaic theological and the Hermetic magickal viewpoints), Hoodoo, Freemasonry, Alchemy, Chaos, Vodou (Voodoo), Ayurvedic, Vedic, and many other systems that might engage in the practice of spellwork (spell casting), rituals (ceremonial rites), and magick.
Some of the metaphysical techniques and tools used within these systems include the elementals, altars, circles, pentagrams and hexagrams, meditation, divination (tarot, astrology, etc.), prayer, solar and lunar correspondences, conjuration, charms, talismans and amulets, dolls, wands, and many other powerful instruments for the invocation, evocation and petitioning of spirit. Within Native American spirituality and ritual, for instance, there tends to be an attempt at maintaining balance, peace, and harmony between the mundane world and the universal forces (energies) of Spirit or Gitchi Manidoo.
Note that there are many different ways to perform rituals and to cast spells, especially, within the realm of Alternative Religions and Spiritualities (i.e., non-mainstream religio-spiritual paths). Also keep in mind that these methods or practices are not set in granite because each spiritual path, circle, coven, grove, temple, or gathering has its own specific way of doing things. However, there are some basic ingredients or component parts that one will find in almost any spell or ritual-some similar and some not so similar in name:

- Purpose - Intent of the Ritual

It has been pointed out to me that at the moment Amazon is running some really great deals on its top-10 best-selling I found it interesting, but felt that in places the evidence provided in terms of historical and archaeological research was a bit too vague to be entirely convincing. Mind you, I'm no academic historian and seeing as this is a number-one best seller, other people plainly rate it highly. If you can pick up a copy for 60p or so then surely it is worth reading and seeing what you think.
The following three
As I said in my my review of Traditional Witchcraft for the Seashore: "Melusine offers a selection of easy pathworkings and visualisations plus traditional folk spells and that you can whisper quietly or just go through mentally without saying anything aloud while sitting by the seashore or standing before the waves. The book also suggests creating a small garden containing such things as shingle, bits of driftwood, shells and plants that are happy growing on dunes and shingle or inland."
A few years ago, I read and reviewed Melusine's first book in her Traditional Witchcraft series. It was originally called Mean Streets Witchcraft, but was later renamed Traditional Witchcraft for Urban Living. It offers some really excellent advice for city witches. It isn't in Amazon's top 10 at the moment, but that is probably because it is a relatively old book. If you haven't read it yet, Amazon is currently offering the Kindle versionat such great value that most witches could easily afford to buy the entire series.
I have no idea how long these offers will last, so you might want to take advantage of them before they change.

Surprisingly, magic actually can't be recognized as excellent or bad. The factor is different individuals have different methods of using magic and it's the way that individuals use magic that creates it excellent or bad. To distinguish magic that's used for excellent from magic that's used to damage, the conditions white magic and dark magic began to be used. As you can comprehend, white magic is applicable to valuable magic. Black magic, however, is the type of magic that some individuals exercise that is damaging to individuals.
Essentially, when you look at magic, it's a type of power that's sent out into the galaxy. When you throw a magic for example, you're delivering power out for your particular wish to come real. Power is neither excellent nor bad but if it's instructed toward damaging others, it becomes bad. But experts and FAMOUS ASTROLOGER IN JAIPUR of dark magic do so at their own risk because the law of magic can be summarized in eight words, a ye harm none, do what ye will. It can be taken like the law of karma where when you do something bad, it will gradually discover its way returning to you.
If you take for example of BLACK MAGIC FOR LOVE PROBLEM, these are basically very beneficial desires. The real power of magic will continue to work for you with the best throw love means by changing you or your topic into someone who is more start to more love. If at first the limitations to love were successful, you or your topic can have an opportunity at love because the challenges like shyness, pessimism and so on are taken out. If you have a concentrate for the love magic and you want that particular individual to drop madly in love with you, the best traditions will help you become more eye-catching to that particular individual.
With a different type of power with magic on your part, there is actually no need to be hoping ill on anyone else. You can keep on using white-colored magic to create yourself better. Why spend your efforts launching a magic of struggling on another individual when you have the power to create yourself better. If you are having issues with your overall look for example, you can throw a magic for becoming more eye-catching. With means used for excellent, you won't be splitting the primary law of magic and won't have to cope with karma later on.

BOOK: FIRE IN THE HEAD SHAMANISM AND THE CELTIC SPIRIT BY TOM COWAN
It has been nearly ten years now since Fire in the Head: Shamanism and the Celtic Spirit was released. Ten years. That is a very long time for readers to encounter a number of other Others who have reviewed this book and offered a less than gleaming assessment of the book are undoubtedly people who are seeking either more of a hands-on, experiential, or practical book on shamanic techniques (see Cowan's Shamanism As A Spiritual Practice for Daily Life), or something with a more classical scholarly 'feel' to it (see F. Marian McNeill's, The Silver Bough, W.Y.Evans-Wentz' The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries, or Celtic Heritage by the Rees'). However, for an overall introduction to the numinous power and energy of the shamanic archetype within the primal Celtic traditions Fire in the Head, even after ten years, is still the best introduction. It is a wide-sweeping flight into the themes and topics, devoid of the particularities of personal cosmology one sees in so many other Celtic Regarding the exploration of witchcraft within Fire in the Head: All too often people assume that Witchcraft And Wicca are synonymous. They are not. Wicca, largely, was invented in the 1950's. However, witchcraft (both black and white)is well documented as having been practiced in different parts of the Celtic world, as well as the Anglo-Saxon world. I think Tom's exploration of witchcraft is in keeping with the premise of the book-to peel back the layers of European animism in general and see where the shamanic energies may exist.

BOOK: BLACK WITCHCRAFT FOUNDATIONS OF THE LUCIFERIAN PATH BY MICHAEL FORD
Black Witchcraft as defined within the aforementioned grimoires is about self-deification but also the further expansion of consciousness, transforming the mundane into the divine, thus the antinomian and Satanic symbolism. But herein is cipher and clue to the essence of the Luciferian path, it is both commitment and the possession of the lower and higher aspects of Daemonic identification which empowers the Godforms found in the forbidden and black grimoires of such as ADAMU, VOX SABBATUM, LIBER HVHI and Luciferian Witchcraft. There is no mere psychodrama and within the circle of the wise does the magician seek a higher spirit outside of his or her being; they seek it within and the choreography and instruments of ritual are merely self-empowered tools to aide in the process of Becoming. 'Skir-hand' Witchcraft within has been inspired from the family lines of Nathaniel Harris and family, 'Skir' meaning "left hand" or "sinister".
The nature of Black Witchcraft in the ancient and modern world is of anti-nature, or rather the word "Antinomian" is a Greek form meaning "against the law". This word makes reference to rebellion from a structure or spiritual design of the masses, the majority and whatever the current ideological mainstream may be at that time. Witchcraft, no matter for what intent or form, has always stood outside any conventional acceptance within society - either by the religious hierarchy (even though it keeps their organizations called Church together and making money) or even governmental ones. To provide a distinct understanding of Luciferian Witchcraft From which I am an initiate of, I must write directly of experience and the vision which all initiates, past, present or secret, have brought to the current and how it manifests today. No longer should those of Luciferian nature be forced to denounce the darkness inherent within us all; witchcraft as with the human or daemonic spirit is both dual natured, light and shadow, bestial and angelic, ad infinitum.

Philip Carr-Gomm, Richard Heygate
John Murray Publishers, 2009
Philip Carr-Gomm an expert on Druidry has written a book that is a tour de force. Covering the magical history of Britain all the way from it's prehistoric Shamanistic beginning all the way up to the present. The book is comprehensive, informative and very interesting. if you are new to magic I advise you pick up a copy of this book and read it. The over view will help you get to where you want to go in the realm of magic.
Not only does the book offer a rich textured history of magic but it also comes with exercises the novice can do so they can get their feet wet. If you are a long term practitioner then this is your chance to dabble in something a bit outside of your field. For further exploration the book offers a treasure trove of web links and The state of magic moved on as the landscape of Britain is filled with landmarks that at first modern Brits took no notice of. This changed with the likes of John Aubrey and William Stukely who recognized them as Pagan holy sites and worthy of attention. later on other people would find our they were connected by Ley lines. Originally they were straight line paths from one place to the next. Trade caravans and pilgrims followed these routes. in around 1925 it was theorized that these land lines were like energy routes and could be harness for magical practice. To tap into these Ley lines one could use a variety of methods but one stood out and that was dowsing.
By use of tools inclusive of pendulums and dowsing rods Ley lines could be discovered. Dowsing is also an effective means for finding water and oil. many dowsers will tell you never to use dowsing for personal gain or unearned wealth. Druids who were the philosophers among the Celts rose to prominence. Their writing was using the Ogham alphabet. Now not much is known about the Druids so we have what is called an imaginative reconstruction. The Romans obliterated any traces of Druidic culture. The reconstructions come from scratch. Druidism or neo-druidism developed in Britain growing through three stages. First group mimicking the Freemason was more like a workers club offering fraternity, friendship and union style benefits. it was a means of support. The second phase was more of a cultural celebration where in the Brits who joined still retained their Christian affiliation while practicing Celtic/druidic rites as a cultural thing. Finally the druids became a spiritual magical movement. They modeled themselves after the Mason with initiations and ceremonies and casting circles. Symbolic use if herbs, animal totems and vision quests are made use of.
No magic book on England would be complete without mentioning Merlin. Some call him Mardyn the wild one. No one knows who he really is. They know he existed; of course King Arthur is something else entirely. Merlin was an adviser to the king. In reality he may have been a chieftain who came from Ireland and Scotland. Gfrey Monmouth spoke of him in his works. Many feel that Merlin's prophecies came to pass. Others still say they are yet to pass. The chapter continues with further talk on the legends of the Grail and their internal spiritual uses.
As the Romans were forced to flee the Anglo Saxons and the Jutes entered the scene. A system of magic and sorcery was built upon the foundation of what was left behind of the Romans and celts added to the Germanic tribes brought with them. The Anglo Saxon brought with them beliefs in elves, dwarves, gnomes and faeries. They also brought the Runic alphabet with them. The Runes branched off and took different courses in Britain then they did in Germany. The Anglo Saxon had a belief that sickness was caused by mischievous elves. The Anglo Saxon sorcerer has verbal charms and herbs that were meant to counteract such things. The Herbs were often imbued with powers bestowed up them by certain astral bodies. The Runes were used for fortune telling and Binding runes could be used for magical spells. Binding is when runes were worn as a talisman or amulet. Two runes would be combined for certain desired result.
High magic came to play with the importation of Alchemy. Alchemists in the west have always sought two things: how to turn metals into gold and how to perfect the soul. Alchemists in the East also wanted to perfect the soul but they were also searching for immortality. Eventually Alchemy would lead to chemistry but the idea of certain herbs being associated with planetary influence and perfecting the soul would find their way into High Magic. High Magic is all about Theurgist magic which is geared for perfecting the soul. The book has a few real interesting activities associated with alchemy that can be performed at home.
John Dee was very interested in both Astrology and alchemy. A gifted magician he plunged into magic whole heartedly. His interest in magic would lead to an interest in angels. He was a favorite of the Elizabethan court. He would get together with a cohort who is clairvoyant who was able to decipher the Enochian language. They would later go off treasure hunting with his cohort Edward Kelley. Their treasure hunting exploits were not as successful as hoped. Edward Kelley ended up getting arrested. John Dee retired.
Low magic is using magic to procure things like love, money and even fighting of sickness. It had much in common with Anglo Saxon sorcery. The people that come to mind are Witches, Wiccans and Cunning folk. Wicca was introduced in 1954 by Gerald Gardner. Without going into his life details Wicca has been controversial. It made the term witch a positive connotation. Their focus was on positive magic. The controversy is the actual age of whatr is called Wicca. Witch craft is not the same as Wicca in al cases.
The original witches were actually cunning folk who lived in the countryside villages. They would perform magick to protect people from the evil work of witches. They would also say their incantation invoking Jesus. The second group of witches were those accused of witch craft and burned at the stake. Many were innocent. Finally there is Wicca.
Wicca took many things of ceremonial magic including invocations from the Key of Solomon. They also took the initiation from the Masons. Combining theories from India and the far east, Gerald Gardner formulated his own brand of magic.
The history of magic continues with descriptions of Alesister Crowley, Freemason The Golden Dawn all the way through Chaos Magick. The book is too exhaustive to give a thorough summarization unless you are writing a term paper. It has interviews, places to visit, activities, book you name it. This book gets five stars out of five stars if you are any way into magic then buy the book ASAP.Enjoy the blog
