Also known as Harvest Home, Mabon takes place on the autumnal equinox, and is the second of the three harvest festivals, the first being Lammas, and the third being Samhain.
It falls somewhere between September 21 and 23 in the Northern Hemisphere, and on one of the corresponding days in March in the Southern Hemisphere.
Since Mabon is the second equinox in the Wheel of the Year light and dark are again equal on this day. Therefore, it's a time to both give thanks for the light and warmth of the growing season, as well as to contemplate the coming darkness.
It follows that this celebration provides an appropriate juncture to tie up loose ends and to complete tasks. It's also appropriate to relax and contemplate the types of things you may wish to reflect/meditate on in a more passive way as the winter months approach, which are typically less active.
Physically, our ancestors were gathering the harvest and preparing their food supply and wares for the colder and less fertile months ahead. At Mabon, we can do the same with our mental and emotional lives as well.
At this point in the Wheel of the Year, the Goddess becomes the old and wise aspect of womanhood, the grandmother, the crone (which does not have a negative connotation here). We are privy to her nurturing and ultimate universal knowledge born of experience and her living through the passage of cycles.
However, we cannot forget the dark aspect of this time of year, and the places in our lives that contrast to the light. Trust this time to dig deep, unearth, and positively transform the things in your life that may be labeled as "dark."
This turn in the Wheel of the Year sees the God reflected in his state as steward of vegetation and animals, often represented as Bacchus, Dionysus, or the Green Man. These figures overlap different pagan sabbats, and indeed have a place in many of the festivals of the light half of the year, especially beginning with Beltane back in the spring.
Consider Mabon the nature god's last romp! Grapes are growing abundantly now, so many honor this by incorporating wine into their celebrations. Ciders and wines are the drinks for this time in the Wheel of the Year. The ancient Druids offered different libations to the plants and trees.

Heimdallr cuts the Soulers' Procession into the Circle on "Come in",
and moves to stand with the other Celebrants while the Soulers dance slowly around singing:

The Celebrants begin also to circle, dancing in character, starting widdershins then spiralling in and out to end deosil, as in the meeting dance, while the Soulers encourage the outer circle to dance also. The intent should be for luck in the new year, and better connection with our Ancestors (as well as better treatment of our Elders!). WE ARE THE OLD PEOPLE, and BLOOD OF THE ANCIENTS are appropriate and may be sung in polyphony...
As the providers of food, FREYR and SKADI bring forward the feast. Some food should be laid out for the ancestors, and people should be encouraged to let the ancestors use their senses for a while to enjoy the food with them.
The Soulers in particular should receive Soul Cakes. A strong magical gesture would be for people to bring forward canned and other non-perishable food (which can be later given to a food bank or similar organization).
Freyr speaks as follows:

Yule Ritual Meditation
Settle yourself. Close your eyes. Feel your body relax. Feel as the tensions drain from your face, your neck, your shoulders, your arms, your torso, your legs. Sense the whole of your body, calm, heavy in its relaxation. Center yourself. Feel for that calm, comfortable center, in which you are whole.
Ground yourself. Extend yourself into the earth, your mother. Feel as your roots grow into the ground, as you find your connectedness with her again.
This time is the time of Yule, the Winter Solstice, when the sun clings most closely to the horizon. It is a time for rebirth. While many months of winter still await us, the days now begin to lengthen, holding behind the hoary frost the promise of the gentle breath of Spring.
Extend your senses beyond the walls, to the world outside. Smell in the crisp cold a hint of snows yet to come. See, in your mind's eye, the clear clean air.
Old dry leaves, long fallen, rustle as they tumble around, caught finally in the tangled stems of dormant shrubs. Bark cracks in the hard frost, and breaks away, falling unnoticed to the earth.
The last of the fall berries dance and sway in the wind, the wind that moans through black branches, crooked fingers that rip the bellies of low heavy clouds. Snow swirls silently into the frozen tracks of squirrels and foxes, rabbits and raccoons, revealing their secret paths. Jays call raucously, as sparrows fluff their breast feathers, puffing up and huddling close to conserve their meager heat.
The fields lie bare, the harvest of wheat, pumpkins and corn safe in the barns.
The crows scavenge for stray grains which escaped the harvester's blade. The orchards are empty, their leaves tossed by the storms, their fruit deep in the cellars.
We - we are snug, cocooned in the warmth of our homes and the warmth of our kith and our kin. The winds will howl with the wolves as we remember the harvest just past, and we rest and regenerate as we look to the rebirth of life in the Spring. For now the sun is returned, beginning his slow journey, regaining his ascendancy, as the wheel turns again.
Now, rouse yourselves, and join us, and dance and sing, and celebrate the birth of the sun!

Devo dizer que a organizac~ao foi muito boa, tirando algumas falhas que considero normal para qualquer evento de grande porte, afinal a CWED 'e considerad o maior evento relacionado a wicca e neo-paganismo da Am'erica Latina.
Uma das falhas foi a quest~ao da lotac~ao do p'ublico nas palestras, a inscric~ao via internet dava a opc~ao para escolher tres palestras, uma no per'iodo da manha eoutras duas no per'iodo da tarde, s'o que essa pr'e-inscric~ao parecia n~ao serivr para nada, pois l'a com a credencial em m~aos voc^e poderia entrar em qualquer pelestra, isso pode ter resultado na falta de lugares e espaco em uma das palestras (MAGIA DRU'IDICA: LUGARES DE PODER NO OUTRO MUNDO CELTA - ACESSANDO PORTAIS PARA A BUSCA XAM^ANICA DO CONHECIMENTO E DA MAGIA).

No fim das contas o evento estava muito bem organizado, com hor'arios bem definidos, uma feira com objetos religiosos, m'agicos, vestimentas ritualisticas, enfim tudo que o praticante precisasse.
