On the evening of 21 June, the Summer Solstice, the Circle of Ankerwycke will be holding a beautiful ritual under an ancient yew tree in Wraysbury, West London. Now in its second decade, the Circle of Ankerwycke holds rituals and celebrations for each Sabbat, and those who attend say each one is more spectacular than the last.
The organisers said: "Held under an ancient yew tree, many thousands of years old, even the weather does not trouble us as we are largely protected under the massive tree branches. Litha (a Wiccan name for the Summer Solstice) is a special time of the year when we enjoy the longest day and experience the magic deep in the woods. Our venue has been a place of pagan celebration since time began and the powerful energy of this special place is felt by everyone who visits
"If you enjoy a ritual in candlelight in the company of friendly people, this is the place to be. The ritual place will be decorated with hundreds of tea lights, the heady smell of our own Circle of Ankerwycke incense will fill the air and the music will be intoxicating. There will be magic and much more, only to be shared by those who are there on the night. The night will be full of secrets and song, celebration and laughter and memories that will linger for a very long time."
Now an established Morris side, The Ankerwycke Morris will also be dancing too.
