"Daleth"
Well we know that the Empress and the High Priestess are each half of the total female archetype. Whereas the Priestess speaks to us of mystery, movement, intuition, purity, and the veil of light concealing spirit; the Empress is only half a world away as she speaks of femininity, fertility, love, nurture, abundance, and hope.
There is another contrast to be drawn between the Empress and the Priestess as well. Whereas the Priestess is guarding access to the doorway to spirit; the Empress sits at that same portal, and brings those to be borne into this lifetime into our material plane. On a deeper level this creates yet another contrast. Whereas the Priestess guards the aforementioned Portal, the Empress is a facet of it.
Anywho... this card is telling us that that part of our obligation as spiritual beings is to love those around us with the same purity that we expect love directed towards us with.
And when it comes to taking care of our Earth, the Empress leads by example in protecting all things within it. She will help out within the community by giving when it seems right, and will most often feel that it is. "The Empress expects nothing in return. "
To live as unselfishly as she does draws the abundance represented by this card to us, as long as we do so from an absolutely pure intent, free of the anticipation of any reward. The Empress tells us that our positive actions towards others and to our world as a whole are mirrored back to us in terms of abundance and comfort. Once the Universe has rewarded us for our pure of heart actions, we are cautioned not to become complacent and ever take those fruits for granted.
The Empress is not speaking to us in terms of intellect. This doesn't mean that it doesn't exist in her world, she has enough to get by. Her greatest tool is in her ability to love in all ways, as a mother, daughter, friend, sister, or a lover. The Empress is the great nurturer; her message is that 'you reap as like that which you have sewn'.
