We would be wise to ground ourselves in God's Word and understand the spiritual meanings and symbolism associated with certain numbers because they can help to give us a better understanding of our God, His plan, and our role in what's coming upon the world.
Yet, many Christians will shy away from the subject entirely because Satan has done an excellent job of perverting what God created (and intended to have SOME signifcance to believers) and has successfully turned it into a purely occult study in the minds of many.
Well, I intend to continue to do what I can to shine a small light on the numbers and the symbolism they project especially since the veil between the physical and the spiritual is thinning. We need to have at least a casual understanding of such things I believe because they may serve as "sign posts" or "road signs" along God's prophetic roadmap for all believers during these end times.
If you doubt that's possible, then how do you explain the fact that He is VERY CLEAR about the length of days between the start of the Tribulation to the end, and from the start of the Great Tribulation to the end at the Battle of Armageddon? I mean, if numbers weren't important and He didn't want His people to know for certain where they where along His prophetic timeline (so that they could know for certain what was still coming), then He wouldn't have provided them to us, right? It's precisely this line of thinking that had me fixated on the number "153" that came up in the last entry here about the unusual, on-going plane crashes. While that piece commented on the occult perversion of this number, I want to now focus on the Christian significance instead.
For those who don't know, 153 is found quite prominently in the Holy Bible (153 Fish Miracle), which is amazing when you consider that it's been showing up a lot lately in several un Plane Crashes = Tragic Deaths = No Bodies/Survivors = Sudden Disappearance/Rapture?
I wonder. Seems plausible at least.
The more I researched the more things seemed to come together and a definite theme began to emerge. Incredibly, however, a lot of the things that showed up here in today's study paralleled a lot of what we discovered last week regarding Isaiah 18, the banner on a mountain, and that whole camel connection to prophecy business!
Check out what I found from CHRISTIAN-FORUM:
The most interesting theory in my opinion is found in Grant Jeffrey's book "Unveiling Mysteries of the Bible." The book says that a Christian army officer, named Lt. Col. R. Roberts, made a discovery more than a century ago. He too was curious about the odd number of 153 fish. Roberts discovered that the four Gospels record precisely 153 individuals who were specifically blessed by Jesus Christ. These divine blessings through their personal encounters with Jesus Christ included salvation, divine healings, resurrections, as well as those persons who were personally blessed through witnessing Christ supernaturally bless their friend or loved one (such as Jairus and his daughter). Mr. Jeffrey goes on to list the 153 people who received a direct blessing from Jesus Christ, including the 70 disciples, 11 apostles, 10 lepers, 4 brethren of the Lord, the palsied man and bearers, the Centurion, Lazarus, Mary, Martha, the blind men, the demon-possessed man, Nicodemus, Peter's mother-in-law, etc.
Between the 4 Gospels the total of these blessed people does add up to 153. It's unlikely that this number of 153 is a mere coincidence. It clearly demonstrates that the Lord numbers and watches over every individual who places his faith and trust in Him. As Jesus states in Matthew 10:29-31 "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."
Let me just repeat that this is not my research and I have not investigated the accuracy of this above claim.
But, What I have found is, if you take a look at an old map of Jerusalem in the time of Christ, it has 7 mountains:1.) Mount Gared; 2.) Mount Goath; 3.) Mount Acra; 4.) Mount Bezetha; 5.) Mount Moriah; 6.) Mount Ophel; 7.) Mount Zion.
In studying the word Zion, I have found that it continues to imply one thing, and that is that this is the mountain (or place) where God dwell's with His chosen people and they have fellwship with Him. And I know that this is through His spirit.
I did a word search in the King James Bible on each of the names of the mountains that were in Jerusalem in the time of Christ and found that some of the mountains are not found in the Bible at all and others just a few times, but Mount Zion is found exactly 153 times. Not sure of what this means, but its kind of interesting.
Actually, "Zion" is mentioned 153 times not the word pairing "Mount Zion". Even so, the allusion to Mount Zion could be an important one on the heels of our studies on Isaiah 18 last week (which talked about a banner on a mountain, judgment, the Rapture).
In any event, I also found these additional points to ponder from the same forum:
> The Kingdom of God = 153; A Numbering Sign = 153
> if you convert 153 back to Hebrew it means "I AM" or "I AM GOD"
> Are there perhaps some Scriptures that relate to 153? Within the Old Testament, these are the only first chapters of each book with a 53rd verse:
NUMBERS 1:53 - "but the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel; and the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony."
1 KINGS 1:53 - "So King Solomon sent them to bring him down from the altar. And he came and fell down before King Solomon; and Solomon said to him, 'Go to your house.'"
1 CHRONICLES 1:53 - "Chief Kenaz, Chief Teman, Chief Mibzar,"
(the rest of the scripture states : "Chief Kenaz, Chief Teman, Chief Mibzar, 54 Chief Magdiel, and Chief Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom.")
LUKE 1:53 - "He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty."
1 PETER 5:3 - "nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock;"
1 JOHN 5:3 - "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."
1 TIMOTHY 5:3 - "Honour widows that are widows indeed."
1 CORINTHIANS 5:3 - "For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed"
1 THESSALONIANS 5:3 - "For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape"
> Aleph = one (1) = ox
He = five (5) window
Gimel = three (3) = camel
100 ( one hundred ) = Qoph = back of the head
50 ( fifty ) = Nun = fish
3 (three) = Gimel = camel
When you evaluate the Hebrew alphabet, regarding the numerical 153, you have all the
above and more not listed. The story of the 153 fishes miracle, is about the subject of fish (50). The fish is ISAIAH 43:3 - "For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee."
Anyway, these are just a few of my findings today. I'm sure the Lord (if He is willing and merciful) will lead me down another path that will leave me in complete awe and amazement of Him and His plan unfolding before our very eyes.
Please stay tuned.
