New Witchycrafts

New Witchycrafts
Hello, friends!

First of all, as always, I want to thank you guys for your awesome words of support over my little "drama". *sigh* I do overreact, don't I?! But it was a good lesson to learn, and now life goes on!

I just finished three new felt rune sets filled with herbs for my Etsy, they look so lovely! I filled them with pinches of rosemary, lavender and calendula dried seeds. I'll try to find some mugsworth and jasmine in the local shops, they have all to do with divination (the purple set is not filled with any herbs, this is the one I forgot to add them to it...):

Also I created a sweet Gaia Goddess, another suggestion made by Lucas (seems like soon I'll have to pay him some commission! LOL). She looks so cute I wanted to keep her to myself! :o):

Now I'll go back to my little witch: he's got another tonsilitis crisis! *triple loud sigh* Tomorrow afternoon I'll take him to the doctor, and see if there's anything else I can do to make him stronger. Fortunately this time is a mild crisis, with no high fever, so he's at home being fed and spoiled! :o)

Candle Magick

Candle Magick 03

Candle Magic

There is something about the magic of working with a candle that is very attractive. Perhaps its because it harkens back to earlier, more primitive times, when we depended upon candles for illumination, especially during long winters, when light was scarce.

Candle burning, for meditation and magic, can be a very valuable tool to any witch/wiccan/magician/occultist. The light of a candle is hypnotic...it allows us to concentrate our attention on the flame, or on the melting dripping wax and the images it makes, both in the real world and in our magical collective memory..or 'imagination'. Scented or shaped candles can be used for special intentions. The red male/female molded candles are often used for love magic, the wonderfully fey black cat candles are used for house magic...in many traditions, cats were the 'guardian' spirits of the home, and worked protectively to keep the home safe. They were also used as protection for pregnant women and to safeguard children, as cats are considered excellent mothers. Candles with certain scents may also help or influence magical works.
The essence of pine as it floats through the air in a small apartment or magical space may harken us back to a more natural state, it may relax us, help us to direct our earth based energy toward the right mark. A scent of
myrrh as it fills the air may remind us of the mystical place inside ourselves, giving us the freedom to leave this earthly form and 'astral'.

The colors of candles can also play a big part in candle magic...color is symbolic to us, but also may be influenced by the human aura, which are perceived by us in human form as color, and carry us onto another plane. Some examples of candle color correspondences are:
Love/sexual attraction - red or pink
Purity/devotion - white
Luck/fertility/money - green
Health/tranquillity - blue

I myself use a great deal of candle magic, both formal and informal. I've found candles exceedingly helpful in meditation, and in most spell-work I do. For a simple candle spell, I will take a candle, choosing the color for the intention desired, and 'dress it' For me, this means rubbing it with a special oil, though any earth/vegetable based oil can be used. I will rub the candle, first from the middle down, then from the middle up, concentrating on my intention. Then, I will carve the intention gently into the wax itself with a pin. I have found this very helpful. Then, I will begin the ritual proper.

There are many wonderful
Like any magic, Candle burning can be quite a powerful link to the Universal power we invoke when we work magic. I remember one ritual I was conducting some time ago for a friend, who was having trouble 'letting go' of a departed loved one. She had requested we participate in a ritual to be able to say good-bye to this person. Shortly after the anointed candles were lit, the flames rose quite high and a gentle breeze filled the closed room, as the smell of roses filled the air. My friend felt the enveloping presence of her lover, who seemed to make the candles sizzle with a fiery intensity before leaving her with a feeling of warmth, love, and completion.

It should be pointed out to those who are new to candle magic, that this is a magical tool, not a toy, and should be used wisely and with care. But if one follows good common sense, and meditates and uses creative visualization for protection, nothing is to be feared for even the beginning student.

Healing Emptiness

Healing Emptiness
I remember years of watching vast New Mexico summer sky emptying into a fierce sunlit blueness and then filling with the blessings of clouds, veils of rain, lightning, rainbows: storms moving around and through the sky bowl by their own breath, pouring out gifts to dusty ground. Watery hands brushed the face of my world. I remember the sharp smell of fire and water in the air, the cleanness of emerging sun shining on the wet ground later, the earth flowing, then flowering.

I remember a recent weekend of oceanside camping, watching the peaceful foggy emptiness of clouds darkening the night sky, then waking two hours before dawn on the last day to find the darkness filled to bursting with stars.

Emptiness does not stay so, either in the physical or spiritual realms. The cycles of nature reflect the greater reality of which the physical world is an inseparable part. The "scientific" truism that "nature abhors a vacuum" also reflects spiritual and inner truth. The miracle and blessing of being human includes our ability to move through our own inner voids and emptiness and to find our creativity, our core. These things are not the same as void and emptiness, which are only a setting for them. We fill the voids as a natural part of the cycle - to freeze into one part is unnatural as neither happens without the other. While many spiritual traditions acknowledge the power of void and chaos, most also move past them, or see them as the birthing place or as a place of death which precedes birth in a repeating (and ritualized) cycle.

At times it is easy to confuse the pain and fear that goes with loss with the emptiness and void which precedes renewal and growth. The confusion can perpetuate that void and prevent healing. That can lead to a halt in the natural cyclic movement and can turn the power of a person's inner emptiness into something destructive and unhealthy. Many times this is unintentional, of course, especially if brought on by physical or emotional crisis, but in the same way that nature prompts things to move into a vacuum and fill it, the empty one draws life and energy to herself - sometimes in a material way (like hoarding or overeating) or sometimes by draining other people's energy. A very few perpetuate this condition within themselves with intent, sensing power there, however unhealthy it may be, and choosing to use it against others, or not knowing there are better alternatives. They choose not to step back into the natural cycle. (This is commonly known, especially when done with intent, as psychic vampirism.) Extend this situation to its analogous presence within the spiritual realm and you can get a glimpse of truths behind the multiplicity of stories in our culture about positive or negative spiritual entities. (Yes, they're there.) I see positive as implying acceptance and movement within the natural and spiritual cycles of death, creation, and rebirth. I see negative as the frozen, locked, vampiric energy which exploits only the power of the void and will not move past it.

And we have only to look once more at the world around us (and inside us) to know that the enormous void is blessed with uncountable stars and worlds, including our own. Everything evolves and changes, but it all lives. And there is always the Light, outside in the void and within our own emptiness.

I offer a meditation. Go into your own emptiness. Walk into it as though you were descending a spiral staircase, solid steps under your feet moving you into a deep cavern. Move into a flat place and quiet yourself. The walls disappear until there is only dark. Pass into that dark place. Maybe you've been afraid to look at it, let alone be in it. Let yourself be enfolded into it.

Become aware. Maybe you will feel a velvety feel to the darkness. Or hear a sound not quite a sound. Or sense a whisper of air. In the emptiness you can hear a faint, then growing, cosmic heartbeat. It becomes louder. It is the heartbeat of the Mother.

Open your inner eyes. You may have thought they were open, but now you find another opening, a lifting of the veil. At first you see nothing. Then, a spark. Then another. Stars are born, springing all around you. You see their light. You can almost hear them singing.

Look into the Center. You may see the Goddess there, using Her hands to weave the stars into this place. She looks at you and invites you to approach. You do so. Then somehow Her hands and your hands are overlapping and become one.
You sit where she sits; you, too, birth the stars through your fingers.

When it is time, let the vision fade. Return to the stairs you used to descend into the dark. Climb them, feel them under you. Retrace your steps. Emerge into a sunlit world again, and feel the world around you. And when you can, watch: even the empty sky is filled with life and light. And so are you.

The Candle Codex

The Candle Codex
"Rathgar and Nimble had seen some strange things before. They had even seen utterly bizarre things, but a spherical book? One that can only be read while a candle burns inside of it? They could only come to one conclusion: wizards were strange indeed. "

The Candle Codex is a magical book. While it's parchment pages look quite old and fragile, it is really quite sturdy. It is completely fire resistant, which is convenient, as a candle needs to be lit at the center of it for the book to be read. When these conditions are met, the pages will become illuminated with a golden light and will reveal information that usually is or will be useful to the reader. The information provided is most often in the form of a story or history lesson, but rarely are the people or places known to the reader. There is no way of directing what will be revealed, or any way of determining when it may be useful.

Some versions of the Candle Codex, in addition to the power above, allow the owner to cast commune once per month. In order to do so a Giant Bee's wax candle, inscribed with mystical runes and worth at least 1,000gp must be lit in the center of the codex. When all of the questions are asked as per the spell, the candle will be consumed.

Candle Spells

Candle Spells
Candles are used for more than just decorating cakes or creating a romantic environment. Candles are intricately connected to the four major elements of nature. A candle is made of wax which is made from the earth. A candle wick when it is lit creates smoke which represents both the fire and air element. Also the melted wax forms a pool which represents the water element.

Candles have been used in magick for centuries and anyone can perform candle magick. All that is needed is a lighter, a candle, and a place where there are no disturbances of any kind. Your mind must be clear and your body at peace. There has to be an open mind and an acceptance of the mysteries of how energies work.

Before performing candle magick you must be positive of your intentions. Be absolutely certain there is no manipulation of other people or harm of other people.

Omtimes Difference In Empath Intuitive Psychic

Omtimes Difference In Empath Intuitive Psychic Medium And Healer By Lynn Zambrano

By Lynn Zambrano

What are the differences? The definitions have become interchanged and confused. Lets take a moment to review and clarify so that you will connect with the right reader and get the most from your session.

INTUITIVE:

Intuition is a right brain process that taps into subconscious information in order to provide guidance about everyday life. Being intuitive means that you able to tap into subconscious information in order to receive guidance about your every day life. Intuition can be used to receive guidance about your own life (personal intuition) or to help other people (professional intuition). People who are intuitive are not necessarily psychic. Being intuitive is about receiving guidance to make better decisions in your life, and helping guide others in theirs.

PSYCHIC:

Being psychic, also know as being clairvoyant, means that you can perceive information that cannot be perceived through the normal senses (also called Extra Sensory Perception - ESP). That can include predicting the future, talking to non-physical beings (dead people, spirits) and being able to sense missing objects or people. Being psychic is about sensing information that other people can't usually access.

MEDIUM:

A medium is a psychic who has fine-tuned his or her extrasensory perception and can interface with the spirits in other dimensions. They are able to feel and/or hear thoughts, voices or mental impressions from the spirit world. A medium is able to become completely receptive to the higher frequency or energies on which spirit people vibrate.

EMPATH:

Empath means that you feel other people's emotions as your own. For example, if someone around you is very angry you might start to feel angry yourself, even though there is no direct reason for you to feel this way. According to Wikipedia, "observing another person's emotional state activates parts of the neuronal network involved in processing that same state in one, whether it is disgust, touch, or pain". Empaths have the ability to scan another's energy for thoughts, feelings and possibly for past, present, and future life occurrences.

HEALER:

A healer has the ability to "see" the person as a whole greater then the sum of their parts. The healer's job is to help remove blocks to an individual's growth. It is now an accepted fact that humans are electromagnetic beings. All illness results from the lowering of body frequencies below that necessary to maintain homeostasis. By raising the frequencies and aligning the various bodies, all the fields come into coherence. That is health.

Energy Healing has been around forever and is one of the most ancient healing techniques you can use to keep your body in a balanced and healthy state. The ancients were aware of the psychological and physical effects we experience from our own thoughts, from other people, and from invisible forces from "out there." Alternative energy healing includes these psychological and spiritual realms as well as the physical.

Candle Attraction Powder For Wealth And Prosperity

Candle Attraction Powder For Wealth And Prosperity
Nutmeg and cinnamon when mixed together are considered an attraction powder for wealth. A good spell using this powder to acquire money is as follows:

Burn a green candle during the new moon while thinking of the amount of money you wish to obtain. In a bowl placed in front of the candle, mix one and a quarter ounce of nutmeg and one and a quarter ounce of cinnamon.

FOCUS ON YOUR GOAL AS YOU CHANT:

"Spices for riches"do your best"bring me money"so that I may rest."

Allow the candle to burn out completely and then place the attraction powder in a container. While at work or otherwise occupied with financial gain, sprinkle a small amount of the attraction powder in your coffee or tea. Only a small amount is required (DON'T SHORTCUT THE ENERGY BY USING IT ALL AT ONCE). When you have used up all the attraction powder, your wish will be granted.

Full Moon Tonight

Full Moon Tonight
I've been trying to increase fertility for some things in certain areas of my life and I think this could help some of y'all as well. Fertility could be anything from getting a job to having a baby. The Goddess rules over this area and the full moon has the most influence from her.

FERTILITY RITUAL Materials: 1 green practitioner candle 1 white "full moon" goddess candle 3 green rocks, 1 green glass 1 or more green plant(s) 1 fertility goddess symbol 1 small piece of green paper, a pencil patchouli oil a cup of water a tbsp of salt 1) Anoint candle w/patchouli (or musk).

Set up alter as follows: place Goddess symbol at top center of alter. Place white candle at the left, slightly lower, to be left point of pentacle. Place green candle to the right, in line with white candle. Place the 3 rocks at the two lower points and in front of the Goddess symbol. Place the green glass in the center of the pentacle you have outlined.

Put a pinch or two in the cup of water, and the rest in the bottom of the green glass. 2) Center, cast your circle, and call the quarters inflecting on how each element can aid you in your request (i.e. - I call forth the East, Air by name, Upon your winds the seeds of life are sown, I now request your aid in the same, Aloft to the Goddess, make my request known.

) 3) Invoke the Goddess inflecting on how each is essential for both fertilization and sustenance of life. 4) State your purpose and reason for wanting to be or become fertile with a new life. 5) Do your actual working. I did this by reciting a fertility request poem to the Goddess, asking her for a "late-life" chance at motherhood.

I wrote my request on the green paper, and envisioned the child and I enjoying each other's company, and that of their older sister. I then burnt the paper in the flame of the green candle and dropped it in the green glass. The salt at the bottom absorbed most of the heat and kept the glass from cracking.

I then doused the smoldering request with the salt water from the cup. "From Earth (paper), Sea (salt and water), Fire (flame), and Air (feeding the flame) we all began and shall end." 6) Thank Goddess and turn the request totally over to them. 7)Thank and release the quarters in the opposite direction as called (i.

E. - I release to the North, Earth from this rite, With humble gratitude, Your assistance this night.
) 8) Open the circle. Grounding may include releasing any extra energy to the plants you invited, the 3 green stones, or cleaning your altar and tools.

Blessed be,Lady Alice

How To Burn A Reversing Candle

How To Burn A Reversing Candle Without A Reversing Candle

REVERSING-CANDLES A REVIEW

Reversing candles are a special type of candle which are used to send evil, curses, and general negativity back to the sender. are comprised of two layers of wax. They are comprised of two layers of wax. The inner layer is red, while the outer layer is black. However, they are just as often sold commercially in the form of what appears to be two joined candles. The top portion is red while the bottom portion is black (see image at left).

When utilized, the top portion of the candle is cut off turned upside down and new wick is carved out of the bottom portion. This process is called "butting the candle". "Next, the enemy's name is carved on the candle so that the letters are reversed. It is then dressed with Reversing Oil and burned on top of a mirror under which the name-paper or photograph of the enemy is placed faced down.

Lastly, the candle is lit with fervent prayer that all the evil that has been sent to you may now be sent back to the enemy. When burned, the black wax melts down on the red wax symbolically overcoming the evil.

MAKING YOUR OWN REVERSING CANDLES

As stated above, reversing candles are sold commercially by online candle-shops, botanicas, and spiritual practitioners who burn them for clients. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes including Tapers, Jumbo Candles, and Vigil Lights.

However, some folks prefer to make their own for a variety of reasons. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

* They can't afford to purchase one.
* For whatever reason, they do not have access to online shops or physical retailers where they can be purchased.
* They prefer to make their own because it appeals to their sense of craftsmanship, artistry, and enhances the process of burning them.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN REVERSING CANDLES

Folks who make their own reversing-candles often purchase use red-candles and black ones. They cut up the black candles into small pieces and remove the wicks. The black wax is slowly melted over low heat and then herbs for reversing such as bay leaves, ginger, knot weed, devil's shoe string, red pepper are sprinkled over the wax. Finally, the red-candles are rolled through the black wax so that it adheres to the red-candle resulting in a candle that is black on the outside and red on the inside.

Some folks may find this a messy process and, in some ways, I agree. The method I am about to share with you now was taught to me by one of my mentors early on in my spiritual journey. It utilizes a plain white-candle, red-yarn, and white yarn.

Start with a plain, white-candle. Cut the tip off the top of the candle, turn it upside down and dig a new wick out of the bottom as previously described. Next, using a sharp knife, divide the candle in half by carving a groove all the way around the candle at its center.

Cut a length of black yarn, put a bit of reversing oil on both your thumb and fore-finger and run the yarn between them transferring the oil to the yarn. Now, tie the black-yarn around the center of the candle and wrap it away from you moving up the candle and secure this with a pin. Cut a length of red-yarn and dress it with the reversing oil as before. Tie it around the center of the candle just under where the black-yarn begins and wrap around the candle towards you towards the bottom of the candle. This can then be secured with another pin or placed in the candle-holder in such as way that it holds the yarn in place.

Finally, place the candle on top of a mirror with your written-petition, photograph, etc... face down on top of the mirror (but also under the candle). The candle may then be lit as you make your prayer or petition and the candle is allowed to burn out as usual. ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS This process may also be used with other colors for example, use green/black candles to reverse a money jinx or pink/black to reverse a love-jinx, etc...If you find that all you have are white candles and wish to incorporate color into your workings you can wind a piece of colored yarn around your candle (towards you to attract, or away from you to repel). Finally, even if you have the color of candle that you desire, you may still use this method in your own workings by using a secondary-color that compliments the working. For example, a yellow candle with green yarn (or vice versa) for a money-drawing ritual.

Making Clay Goddess Figures

Making Clay Goddess Figures
**picture from Sari0009**

MAKING CLAY GODDESS FIGURES

Merry Meet :))))

Something fun to work with is clay. :))) It's very easy to make and you can do soooo many things with it. It's a fun project to get the kids engaged with as well.

What You Need

- 1 Box baking soda (about 2 cups)

- 1 cup cornstarch

- 1 1/2 cups water

- sauce pan

- bowl

- spoon

- saran wrap

Mix all the ingredients together in a saucepan. Cook it over medium heat, stirring constantly. It's done when it becomes too thick to stir with a spoon.

Let it cool for about 15 nihutes, or until you can touch the dough. You then want to knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it is smooth.

You can then mold it into whatever you like. I showed some Goddess figures above, but you can also make other items that are of significance to you, runes or whatever you like. :))

Put them somewhere safe to let them dry. It can take 1 - 2 days depending on how thick what you made is. You can then paint it however you like. Tempera or acrylic craft paints work best. :)))

Have fun!

Love and Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong

True Love Perfect Lover Magick

True Love Perfect Lover Magick
Neopagan without a doubt, by the inclusion of Aphrodite and a request to be together "within this lifetime" (as if even Ancient Greeks believed in reincarnation.) It uses the Gamache style traveling candle ritual.

Equipment Needed:

Two candles: One white, One in your favorite color

Two candle holders

A rose colored altar cloth

A piece of red chalk

Timing:

This love spell can be performed at any time. I usually find that the evening is the best. When your mind is clear and open, hold the candle of your favorite color: this represents you. Meditate, then speak aloud all the qualities and energies you are willing to bring to an intimate relationship. Replace that candle on the altar, and pick up the white one. This represents your ideal partner. Speak aloud the essential qualities you desire in a mate, and ask Aphrodite to bring you together in this lifetime.

Now place the two candles in their holders at opposite ends of the altar. Draw a heart on the center with the red chalk, large enough for both candle holders. Each day thereafter, meditate on the perfect loving relationship for a few minutes, and move the two candles an inch close together. If you started on the new moon, then by full moon the candles should be touching in the center of the heart. When they meet, draw two more hearts around the first one, raise energy by singing your favorite love song, and charge the candles.

This spell was found at Everything Under the Moon.

Sweeten Em Up With A Honey Jar

Sweeten Em Up With A Honey Jar
Sweeteners are used in hoodoo to help "sweeten" someone's disposition to you, make you appear favorable in their eyes and make you attractive to them. The type of sweetener isn't as important as the application ther. The most common type of spell is either a honey jar spell or a sugar box spell, but rootworkers in the past have even used corn syrup, maple syrup or molasses in their work.

Honey Jar Spells

The typical honey jar spell is a very gentle but effective working to get someone to think favorably toward you. Basically it consists of taking someone's personal concerns, putting them in a honey jar along with any herbs or items to influence what you desire, capping off the jar and then (optionally) burning candles on top of the jar to bring light to the situation.

Finding honey in an actual glass jar with a metal lid is almost impossible now a days. I've found the best solution is to buy the honey in the typical plastic container and transfer it to a glass mason jar for spell work. Below are a few sample honey jar spells for you to try out.

Honey Jar to Attract a Man's Affections

On a Monday, take a strand of your hair, and a strand of hair from the man you want to get, tie them around a Queen Elizabeth Root that has been dressed with Love me Now! Oil (available from Take a red offertory candle (6" tall) dress it with Love me Now! Oil stroking the oil toward you. Melt the butt of the candle a little bit and quickly stick it to the top of the honey jar. Now light the candle and allow it to burn all the way down bringing light (and heat) to your honey jar spell. You can interpret the way the candle burns and the way the wax melts for further signs into your working. Burn 7 red candles total on top of the jar - 1 per day.

After that, you can then burn candles to keep "working that jar" until you have his affections. Once you have him as a lover, you can bury the honey jar in your backyard to keep him in your home.

Honey Jar to Win a Court Case

Obtain either a photo of the judge that will be ruling your case or a business card that he has personally handed to you. On the back of it write the judge's name 7 times. Turn it 90 degrees clockwise and write your name across his 7 times. Around this block of text write "Rule in my favor" in one continual line (never lifting your pen from the paper) forming an unbroken circle around your crossed names. Dress the photo with a 5-spot pattern (like the 5 on the side of a die) with Court Case Oil. Fold the photo in half toward you, turn it 1/4 turn clockwise and fold it in half again, and repeat that action one more time.

Obtain a honey jar, and push the dressed photo (or business card) into the honey. When you withdraw your honey covered finger state "As this honey tastes sweet to me, so shall you find me sweet and rule in my favor!" Add in a piece of Little John to Chew (Court Case Root), some Sage and a pinch of tobacco. Cap off the honey jar and pray hard over it for the judge to rule in your favor. Call out to him, to his spirit, and claim by the righteous name of God that you be vindicated in court and that the judge's gavel will fall in favor of your case.

Dress a brown offertory candle with Court Case Oil and affix it to the top of the honey jar. Allow that to burn all the way down, letting the wax drip all over the jar. Interpret the behavior of the flame and the wax as signs for how your work is going. Burn a total of 7 candles on that jar to start. You can burn more of varying colors to affect the court and the judge as needed.

Really Reasonable Candles They

Really Reasonable Candles They Are So Hard To Find These Days
Above: two hour tapers and the cat candle

Reasonably priced altar candles are SO hard to find these days! I've been going all over town trying to find the traditional dinner-style candle in variations of colours in Melbourne and it is SO hard!

This website sells candles at a really reasonable price

The above two hours tapers are 6.50AUS for 20 - and you can choose 20 of one particular colour if you need heaps for some kind of celebration or handfasting.

They also have packs of small, lean 'wish' candles at 20 per box for 7.50 if for some reason you want to have a lot of gold or silver candles.

I am rather keen on the cat candle found in the Spell Candles section (below - 7.50AUS)

Go to the site and click on 'Candles' on the left hand side from the home page:

Controversy Over Witches Of Hopwas Wood

Controversy Over Witches Of Hopwas Wood
Over the past month, newspaper and website This is Tamworth has run a series of articles about alleged intrigue, witchcraft and occult activity in Hopwas Woods, Staffordshire. The features have not been particularly pagan friendly - and the latest one is, frankly, a sensationalist rehashing of some very old news.

The first couple of news articles were about supposedly occult artefacts that were discovered in the woodlands, including an Egyptian-style statuette and an engraved copper tablet. Local residents were keen to find out why they were there and what they meant. Those stories were not too offensive, and I even blogged about the first one, back in December. I guess a little curiosity is natural, and one shouldn't leave stuff lying around in public places - particularly when it might have magical significance.

This is Tamworth's latest story is far more sensationalist. It states: "Hopwas Woods has been the centre of tales of naked witches, occult artefact discoveries and spooky goings-on for decades."

Then it dug an old copper out of retirement to tell a tale about an incident in 1984 when he was called to investigate a report of naked witches dancing in the woods.

This is Tamworth reports the ex-policeman as saying: "It was quite an eerie experience, believe me! There were signs of a burnt out fire, and a number of small bones, which, at the time, were thought to have possibly been sacrificial and later identified as bird bones, possibly chicken bones. There were also signs of a roughly drawn out pentagram scratched on the ground nearby. A number of items were taken for later forensic examination if required."

A group of people were arrested, thrown into police cells overnight and interrogated. Extra police were drafted in to guard the woods. The only charges made, however, Witchcraft was not illegal in the 1980s, but now paganism and witchcraft are far more acceptable in the public eye than they were back then. These days the police are taught to treat pagan rituals with sensitivity and understanding.

So, This is Tamworth, please take your Gene Hunt lookalike back to his retirement home and ask some modern policemen if they would throw people into prison for being pagans.

And, so long as people using Hopwas Woods aren't breaking the law, causing a nuisance or damaging the environment, I don't really care if they are fluffy Wiccans celebrating the solstice, wannabe Cthulhu cultists attempting to summon That Which Does Not Exist from beyond the void - or the local Girl Guides having a chicken barbecue and singing late night songs around the campfire.

In this country people of all beliefs are perfectly entitled to enjoy our lovely public woodlands - and if they want to dance, sing and say words in honour of ancient gods, stars or planets, that is their choice.

But, fellow pagans, when you are outside celebrating the seasons, do make sure you take your ritual artefacts - and your litter - home with you afterwards. If you don't, you could find some Scooby gang trying to investigate what you've been doing and selling their story to This is Tamworth.

I hope we see more responsible journalistic reporting in Tamworth in future.

Candles As Tools Of Magick

Candles As Tools Of Magick
Select four candles in colors representing the four elements. Try using red for Fire, green for Earth, blue for Water and yellow for Air. Anoint the candles with oil. Decide on your goal or request and which candle is best for represents the need. (ie money, business, material objects, grounding matters would be Earth. Matters of sex, breaking habits, purification, protection, strength would be Fire. Matters of love, psychic awareness, healing, friendships, beauty, spirituality, meditation would be Water. Matters of movement, travel, communication, teachings would be Air.) Place three candles in a triangle and put the assigned candle in the center.

Meditate on your desire as you light all four candles. Visualize the outcome, concentrating carefully on that which you wish to happen. Let all candles burn go out by themselves.

For best results, do this candle burning during the hour of the day that will aide you and during the correct Moon phases. The Waning Moon is good for banishing, the Waxing will help things grow.

Above all use extreme care when doing ANY form of Magick that entails the use of Fire.
