Casinos Use Magick
Posted by

I knew it!
I've always suspected that the gambling world must be full of magicians plying their trade in all sorts of undocumented situations. Whether they call themselves "management" or "security" consultants, casinos really do have a use for such individuals. How many people do you think visit an occult The man, surnamed Yuan, alleged that the Venetian dug a one-metre (40-inch) square hole on the wall of the presidential suite he was staying in April last year and covered it with a black cloth, said Apple Daily.
The casino also put two white towels in front of Yuan's suite and turned on two large fans facing his room without notifying him, it said.
Yuan claimed that his luck turned bad after discovering the arrangements and that he went from winning 400,000 dollars to losing two million, the report said.
"We Chinese drape black and white cloths only when there is a death in the family. It is such a taboo for regular people, let alone for the gamblers," he was quoted as saying.
Now the fans and the white cloths might be coincidental, but what about cutting a 3+ foot hole through the wall and covering it with a cloth while a guest was staying in the room? That's completely bizarre - making an architectural modification like that is messy and would have required a lot of fast cleanup to keep the room looking pristine. There's no logical reason for a hotel to do this in a room that is being occupied by a guest.
While I'm not a Feng Shui expert, I know that changes like this to the floorplan of a space are thought to affect the chi flowing through the area. Maybe the in-house magicians looked at Yuan's winning streak and figured that he was employing some sort of spell, maybe based on Feng Shui or Taoist methods that are practiced in Taiwan as well as in China. They then made a small adjustment to the room in order to counter the spell and perhaps even cast something into the room through the large hole in the wall.
It's true that I could be making all of that up and this might just be a case of a gambler whose luck went bad for un It sounds to me like the casino really wants to avoid anyone investigating its paranormal practices. Why else would they be so eager to get the case settled if nothing out of the ordinary is going on?
I will admit that I find one particular fact about the case particularly odd. Why, after discovering the Feng Shui "sabotage," did Yuan keep on playing? Personally, I'd take my money and walk out the door as soon as I suspected a counterspell. Without any functioning magick on your side the house is always going to win in the end.

A Lammas Harvest Ritual
Posted by
Unknown
/ 5:53 PM /
In some Wiccan traditions, Lammas is the time of year when the Goddess takes on the aspects of the Harvest Mother. The earth is fruitful and abundant, crops are bountiful, and livestock are fattening up for winter. However, the Harvest Mother knows that the cold months are coming, and so she encourages us to begin gathering up what we can. This is the season for harvesting corn and grain, so that we can bake bread to store and have seeds for next year's planting. If you would like to hold a Lammas harvest ritual, here's how:
WHAT YOU NEED:
* A candle to represent the Harvest Mother
* Stalks of wheat
* A loaf of bread
* Ritual wine (optional)
This ritual celebrates the beginning of the harvest season and the cycle of rebirth, and can be done by a solitary practitioner or adapted for a group or coven setting. Decorate your altar with symbols of the season - sickles and scythes, garden goodies like ivy and grapes and corn, poppies, dried grains, and early autumn foods like apples. If you like, light some Lammas incense.
Have a candle on your altar to represent the Harvest Mother - choose something in orange, red or yellow. These colors not only represent the blaze of the summer sun, but also the coming changes of autumn. You'll also need a few stalks of wheat and an un-sliced loaf of bread (homemade is best, but if you can't manage, a store-bought loaf will do). A goblet of ritual wine is optional.
If your tradition requires you to cast a circle, do so now.
LIGHT THE CANDLE, AND SAY:
The Wheel of the Year has turned once more,
and the harvest will soon be upon us.
We have food on our tables, and
the soil is fertile.
Nature's bounty, the gift of the earth,
gives us reasons to be thankful.
Mother of the Harvest, with your sickle and basket,
bless me with abundance and plenty.
Hold the stalks of wheat before you, and think about what they symbolize: the power of the earth, the coming winter, the necessity of planning ahead. What do you need help planning right now? Are there sacrifices you should be making in the present that will be reaped in the future?
Rub the stalks between your fingers so a few grains of wheat fall upon the altar. Scatter them on the ground as a gift to the earth. If you're inside, leave them on the altar for now - you can always take them outside later. Say:
The power of the Harvest is within me.
As the seed falls to the earth and is reborn each year,
I too grow as the seasons change.
As the grain takes root in the fertile soil,
I too will find my roots and develop.
As the smallest seed blooms into a mighty stalk,
I too will bloom where I landed.
As the wheat is harvested and saved for winter,
I too will set aside that which I can use later.
Tear off a piece of the bread. If you're performing this ritual as a group, pass the loaf around the circle so that each person present can take off a small chunk of bread. As each person passes the bread, they should say:
"I pass to you this gift of the first harvest."
When everyone has a piece of bread, say:
As the grain dies, it transforms to bread,
and brings us life through the winter.
We bless this bread, and it blesses us in return,
and we are thankful for the gift of the harvest.
Everyone eats their bread together. If you have ritual wine, pass it around the circle for people to wash the bread down. Once everyone has finished their bread, take a moment to meditate on the cycle of rebirth and how it applies to your own life - physically, emotionally, spiritually. When you are ready, if you have cast a circle, close it or dismiss the quarters at this time. Otherwise, simply end the ritual in the manner of your tradition.

A Stroll To Kkmc

I just love the vibrant colours on the walls of this coffee shop house. Even the aircon units which were projecting out of the walls seemed to be in some sort of a pattern, providing an interesting 3D effect to the whole architecture of the building. I call this "pop art".
At Little India, the whole stretch of roads are dotted with eateries selling Indian food such as Rota Prata, Nasi Bryani, Chapatti, Curry and Naan. My favourite Indian food is cheese Naan with butter chicken curry sauce! It sure does sound fattening but it's worth eating it! At least once in your life!
As I take a stroll to church, I noticed that every shophouse will have a letterbox that looks like this. This letterbox, in particular, grabbed the attention of my eyes because it just looked so pretty!
Just as I was crossing a junction, I spotted this mural painting from afar and I can't help but to walk towards it to take a closer look. It's such so interesting that the artist as left his or her work on the pillar. It's all these interesting sightings that add to the cultural elements of this quaint little neighbourhood. The image of the peacock ( or Mayur) is a sacred symbol for Hinduism. The Indian peacock is also the national bird of India.
After the 10 minute stroll under the hot sun, it's time for me to quieten down my hearts before God as I enters the church.
Today's sermon series is on "PRAYER" by Pastor Kenneth Huang.
Take home message: ASAP also stands for "always say a prayer".
Reading the whole of God isn't enough for Christians nowadays.
We need to capture the words in our minds, reflect and act upon it.
If only my photographic memory is still functioning though...
In all of these, I hope I could capture the beauty of our Lord through this camera lens. It's not only there for me to admire but also for anyone who chanced open my blog.
KKMC's monthly magazine.
Sunday's morning church service is usually followed by our bible study session where we once again douse ourselves with the word of God through discussions and sharing over food and drinks blessed by the Lord.
Today we had lotus and Char Siew buns for our late breakfast.
After lunch, I will usually head home to allow the God's word to seep through me as I rest on Sabbath Day. ( Although sometimes, I'm tempted to do work..like blogging!) I returned home today with a smile on my face when I saw a huge box of Ferro Rocher chocolates and dark chocolate bars on the kitchen table. It's teatime.
That's how I usually spend my time on Sabbath.
"What's your typical Sunday routine like? I would love to hear from you!"

Wednesdays Weekly Spell
Posted by
Unknown
/ 1:33 PM /
This week's weekly spell is a love potion (squeal) from another one of my favorite supply sites, Sacred Mists. They have a wonderful selection of items as well as some wonderful training and resources.
LOVE POTION
What you'll need:
-A decorative bottle with a cap or spout
-8 oz of extra virgin cold pressed olive oil (for ingesting spell)
-or 8 oz 100% Jojoba oil (for inhaling spell)
-fresh herbs, oils, and other botanicals*
It is best to use FRESH, DRIED HERBS FROM YOUR OWN GARDEN, "dried" because the water content in fresh herbs can spoil the potion with mold spores and "from your own garden"because the energies of others who have grown, picked and handled herbs for your spells can linger and spoil the spell.
If you haven't cultivated your own herbs and spices, never fear, for the easiest way to make the herbs your own is to "cleanse" them while you dry them. Begin by filling the bottom of a pie tin with sea salt and laying the fresh herbs on top for 24 hours. If they are still moist after that, put the tin, salt and all into a warm (not hot) oven and check every 15 minutes until dry. You can usually obtain fresh herbs from a specailty grocer. If you have the time, you can hang them upside down in a sunny window until dry. There is no need to cleanse herbs no matter where you got them if you do this as the act of drying in your own home for at least a week bonds them to your energy.
To cleanse the unwanted energies of others from dried herbs that you purchase from a farmers market or grocery store, you should store them in a salted cupboard (one that is regularly cleansed by changing out a fresh pouch of seasalt every equinox) overnight. Salting all the cupboards where you store your foods is a good practice.
THERE ARE TWO KIND OF LOVE POTIONSone is for ingesting and one is for inhaling, usually in the form of a ritual bath, and both are powerful in creating a lasting bond with your beloved.
FOR THE INGESTING SPELL, start with 8 oz. of extra virgin olive oil in a glass or stainless steel bowl (you can use stone, wood or any natural substanceanything but plastic. It's not just because plastic is "fake" but more importantly plastic is made out of crude oil and it's by-products will chemically react with many of the ingredients you put into it. If you are using a single herb (like rosemary) for the potion you can take two or three good sized sprigs and poke them down into the bottle and then add your oil and cork. Bottle should be bathed in moonlight, but if time is of the essence one weeks worth of moonlight can be traded for one days worth of sunshine. If there is no sun I reccomend setting the potion beneath a lamp using a full spectrum bulb for 12 hours
If you are mixing several ingredients you should put them in the bowl and gently stir with a wooden or stainless steel spoon. Let settle for a hour and then funnel the oil into the bottle. You might need a cheese cloth or sifter for small particle herbs and seeds. As long as particles are not too small they may be left inside the bottle.
Once you have filled and set your bottle you may give it to your beloved as a gift for cooking or you may use it to cook for your belovedat the very least you should introduce your beloved to the potion as the act of giving and receiving constitutes consent. It is never a good idea to use a potion on someone with out their consent.
To create an ingestible potion there are two aspects to consider and both of them are important. Taste and purpose. If you only took into account the purpose of the spell you could use some perfecly edible (but truly nasty tasting herbs and that will completely defeat the purpose of the potion if it is not good enough to eat. Now you can mask certain flavors, and when it comes to adding qualities to a potion it is not always important to add alot of a particular herbjust a grain or two of a particularily stout herb is usually all that is required of any herbso with an ingestible Love Potion taste is the most important thing.
DECIDING WHICH HERBS TO SELECT:
What dried herbs you want to add depending on the type of bond you wish to create. You can use a solitary herb for strong, stable potion, or you can combine herbs for their synergistic, magickal powers.
Dried Rosemary from your garden will produce a love potion is deeply rooted in familial loveor as I like to call it, the marryin' kind of love.
You can spice it up by adding a dried pepperbut not toothat much as not to disturb the relationship between the heart and stomach.
A clove or two of dried garlic will keep the sexpots awayyou want to keep your beloved all to yourself, but not too much garlic because YOU still want to be attracted to them, and too much garlic keeps EVERYONE away.
Where flavor is the lead in blending an ingestible potion, aroma takes the reigns when it comes to the inhaled spell. Any edible substance for the most part may also be inhaled, but do you seriouslly want to smell like garlic or dill? The cat might find you attractive but that's not the point, is it. So when concocting an aromatic spell, be sure to combine scents that are complimentary, and know that some scents, particularly the more woody rosemary will overpwer most of the fragrance. But that really is ok when it comes to the aromatic spell because the subject will still be affected by the underlying notes. They do not need to distiguish between them to be swayed by them.
So again you will take your jojoba oil (or you can use olive oil for bath) and your herbs and combine them as you would the ingestible spell, leaving them to set in moon ( or sun) light and then offered as a gift. This love potion that you create will be uniquely yours and thus you create the intention from the combination of ingredients you select. So for completing the spell, you simply: "give thanks, knowing that you are one with all that is and in this knowing you bless and offer your love to your true hearts desire in knowing that they are also one with spirit, so therefore you both are joined in spirit and blessed in return. and so it is"
*Here is a list of fragrant aromatic herbs with their magickal properties:
BAY(LEAVES) : Ingested or inhaled; Used to attract a soul mate.
CARDAMOM: Used to arouse a lover. It is known as a compelling herb.
Caraway Seeds: Used to increase lust in another. Are said to stop infidelity.
CINNAMON(STICKS): Used to increase passion between two people. Use only very small amounts in bath as it can burn sensitive areas.
CORIANDER: Used to deepen and strengthen an existing love relationship.
CUMIN: Strong; Passionate; Used to keep a lover faithful to you.
DILL: To protect and strengthen an existing love.
GINGER: Used to arouse a reluctant lover or cure impotence. When added to other love drawing herbs it is said to accelerate desired results.
JASMINE: The flowers are used to ensure a successful seduction.
LAVENDER: Sweet smelling herb is thought to straighten out marital problems and ensure fidelity.
MYRTLE: Used to increase fertility.
ORANGE BLOSSOMS: Fragrance used in bath to attract a marriage proposal.
ROSEMARY: Used in every way, ingested, as incense, as oil and in a sachet, to bind two people together in a gentle, loving bond.
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS: These amazing hot red fruits aid the release of endorphins for an uplifting buzz.
SWEET PEA: An attraction flower. Used to increase popularity.
VANILLA PODS: Seductive powers; Are thought to lower another's inhibition

Author Eliza Graham Reveals Her Desert

Today is the last of my Desert Island Posts. Today I'm not touring the blogosphere but actually really touring the Cumbrian landscape on my way to Cleator Moor Library to give a talk about THE GILDED LILY. Cleator Moor is one of the more remote towns in the county, up near the west coast, so it will take me almost two hours to drive there. On the way I'll have the company of Radio 4 and some spectacular scenery. Just looked out of the window and it's raining - but hey, you can't have it all! If you'd like to see where I have been touring lately, why not visit Hoydens and Firebrands for my post on Old London Bridge, or Historical Tapestry for my post on The Smell of Old Coffee Houses.
.
Eliza Graham lives in Oxfordshire and is the author of four novels blending historical and contemporary themes. Eliza's first novel, "Playing with the Moon" was a smash hit in Germany where she has sold over 100,000 copies. Her latest, THE HISTORY ROOM, was published in May and combines reborn dolls and the Prague Spring in the setting of an English boarding school.
Eliza's first young adult novel, BLITZ KID, will be published this month as a Kindle e-book. Look out for further information.Eliza's WebsiteMore About The History Room
Over to Eliza:For my classic novel, I would choose OUR MUTUAL FRIEND by Dickens. It was one of my A level novels and I've loved it ever since. It's a big novel in every sense of the world: a little messy in times, but full of life and insight. The descriptions of the murkier parts of Victorian London would probably make me look around my beautiful desert island with relief.
For my contemporary novel, I would choose I CAPTURE THE CASTLE by Dodie Smith, even though it's not that contemporary, having been written in the fifties and set in the thirties. The descriptions of the novelist father imprisoned in an old castle dungeon to make him finish his novel would scare me into using the desert island as a chance to write, write, write. It's such a very English novel, too, that it would make me feel a little bit of home was with me.
For non-fiction I was going to select The Book of Common Prayer because, as a cradle Catholic, I had no exposure to its beautiful language. Each image is almost a novel in its own right. But now I'm going to crack and reveal my true greedy self and ask if I can choose Mary Berry's Book of Cakes (with a magic supply of equipment and ingredients). I'll be very healthy on that island, what with all the fish and tropical fruit, so a bit of indulgence on cake is in order.
(Hope Eliza leaves me some of that cake when she goes!)

Ah Homecoming London 2010
Posted by

/ 1:17 PM /
Oh, London, how I love thee. Returning to London is the homecoming of my soul. The only thing missing was the love of my life, but he had to remain in NYC as our work schedules just couldn't make a joint trip possible. But my incredible family were more than wonderful to have as traveling companions, and made the trip possible in the first place.
I'm so grateful.
The London part of my trip 'across the pond' was all about recharging. A trip to London means indulging the invigorating surge that overtakes my mind and heart while walking the streets; returning to the inciting inspirations that first birthed the Strangely Beautiful saga. This trip wasn't about packing in moments of tourism, this was simply about happily wandering and paying homage.
First of these blissful days had me returning to the Bloomsbury district and strolling along the paths Alexi and Rebecca would have done in a promenade route to my fictional Athens Academy. Here's a specific shot down Grape Street in the heart of Bloomsbury, which looks quite similar to what the alleys around Athens, and indeed Athens itself would appear to be.
A further course of meaningful wandering included Hampstead Heath and Highgate Cemetery, two places of particular importance and magic. Its no surprise that graveyards are particularly fascinating to me, they hold a distinct energy not replicated in any other context. Eternal crossroads, these locales are both sacred and alluring- particularly to a paranormal author.
A garden-style graveyard like Highgate is the epitome of aching beauty, a paradox of life and death; eternal monuments, temporal humanity, cold stone and soft flower. You know Hampstead and Highgate well from my In my Highgate pilgrimage, from the moment I slipped inside the gate, I again saw my Guard darting among the monuments. I paid my respects to beloved authors Douglas Adams and George Eliot among others, ever marveling at the beauty of sculpture, stone, verdant ivy and flora. Wandering nearby Hampstead Heath and looking down over London in the distance, I was transported by walking the childhood haunts of Miss Violet Rychman, who will be the star of Strangely Beautiful #4; "Miss Violet and the Great War", and for whose book the bulk of the research on this trip was dedicated.
I ate wild blackberries and my mind's eye watched her and the hero, William Page, doing the same as children. -The Imperial War Museum was a day in and of itself. I spent countless hours learning about the details of World War I. It is not something I can begin to summarize in a blog post. It is sobering, terrible, incredible tales, millions of tales, millions of lives affected and lost.
I will but scratch the surface in my book as I continue to learn about this behemoth struggle that was supposedly The War to End All Wars. You will hear much more about my complex response to the research when I post my Verdun, France entry later this week.-
Ghost and Jack the Ripper expert Richard Jones was kind enough to reserve a place for my family and I on his Jack the Ripper walking tour, led by Ripperologist Philip -, an expert and author on the matter.
His tour was entertaining and informative and while I had gone on this tour once before, and doing so inspired me to use The Ripper in The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker, it was meaningful to do so again as certain forthcoming changes to the London streets will block certain murder sites from visitation.
So paying one last homage to Mitre Square, the site of Catharine Eddowes' murder before it is irrevocably changed was important.-An exciting signing at Forbidden Planet brought my London adventures to a close. I will have more pictures forthcoming. There couldn't have been a nicer staff and attending managers, the store is one of my favourite places on earth, a haven for all things I love, and after a rousing Doctor Who discussion, one of the managers there, Jon, gifted me with a Tom Baker (Doctor #4) action figure that now holds a sacred place on my awards shelf.
I was attended there by blogger extraordinaire Hasna from THE BOOKPUSHERS, ever grateful for her presence and support. It was such a delight to meet her in person. And Richard Jones himself dropped by! I was so honoured that my foremost resource on the Ghosts of England and on Jack the Ripper came by in support of my work.
As you know, all the ghosts I use in the Strangely Beautiful saga, other than spirits I've created inside Athens, are real London haunts that I plucked from Richard's accounts in his many While it was goodbye to London, it won't be for long. A girl gets too homesick for her soul's native land otherwise.
Then on to Paris! And "that's" another entry entirely. Stay tuned. Blessings!

Candle Attraction Powder For Wealth And Prosperity
Posted by
Unknown
/ 12:05 PM /
Nutmeg and cinnamon when mixed together are considered an attraction powder for wealth. A good spell using this powder to acquire money is as follows:
Burn a green candle during the new moon while thinking of the amount of money you wish to obtain. In a bowl placed in front of the candle, mix one and a quarter ounce of nutmeg and one and a quarter ounce of cinnamon.
FOCUS ON YOUR GOAL AS YOU CHANT:
"Spices for riches"do your best"bring me money"so that I may rest."
Allow the candle to burn out completely and then place the attraction powder in a container. While at work or otherwise occupied with financial gain, sprinkle a small amount of the attraction powder in your coffee or tea. Only a small amount is required (DON'T SHORTCUT THE ENERGY BY USING IT ALL AT ONCE). When you have used up all the attraction powder, your wish will be granted.

A Day Off To Enjoy Autumn
Posted by
Unknown
/ 11:25 PM /
I took the day off to enjoy Autumn with my children yesterday. It was beautiful. I love when fall comes and the air turns crisp, and the colors get so vibrant when the sun hits the leaves on the trees. It's just magickal to me. The smells of autumn as well. :) In my opinion none can beat them. The smell of the fires burning in the homes, and home cooking, and apples, and that fresh air.
So my little ones and I went to get pumpkins yesterday. We went to several farms looking for the perfect pumpkins. They even took a haunted trainride at one of the farms. It was a little train the farmers had built over a tracter. The kids loved it. It wasn't too scary, and the ride featured a lot of characters from their favorite shows. There is nothing better then watching your kids run about with rosy cheeks and big smiles on their faces. We each chose a pumpkin to bring home. My son chose a white one, the rest are orange.
To make our day even better we finally got a new couch. We have been needing a new couch for quite some time now. Our old one was over 10 years old and really falling apart. We got a four piece leather sectional that has a chase lounge on the end. I'm sitting on it right now as I write to you. It's a higher sofa so I am sitting next to the window in the front of my house watching the son light up all the different colors of the mountain. It's absolutely beautiful.
We also decorated for Samhain/Halloween this weekend. So my house is filled with orange lights and all sorts of decorations. Add to it some apple and pumpkin scented castles and you have a happy girl over here. :)))))
Hope all of you are doing well as well. Did you get your pumpkins yet? How are you decorating this year.
Love and Blessings to You All,
Jasmeine Moonsong

Crafty Recycling Earth Light

For quite a while I'd been looking for a brown tealight holder to represent the element of earth when I cast a circle, but without success.
Many witches like to use tealights in coloured glass tealight holders to indicate the elements. They often use yellow or blue for the east and the element of air, to represent either the blue sky or the rising sun; red or yellow for the south, to represent fire; blue or green to represent the west and the element of water and either black or brown in the north, for the element of earth.
Tealight holders in the primary colours of red, green, blue and yellow are pretty easy to get hold of, but brown or black ones aren't.
But when I was washing out an empty Marmite jar to put in the recycling I got inspired. Marmite jars are made of sturdy, brown glass and would make ideal holders for small candles.
So, instead of putting it in the glass recycling bin, I carefully scrubbed the label off, painted a five-pointed star (called a pentagram) on it with a glass-painting pen and made a little handle to hang it by from some pretty gold-coloured wire that had once decorated a cheap bottle of red wine.
All I had to do then was pop a tealight in it and, hey presto, one earth light.
OK, I do admit I'm not the greatest of artists and my drawing of a pentagram is a bit amateur - but I do feel that when you make your own ritual tools they can help your magic work better than if you just buy something from a shop.

The London Mind Body Soul exhibition is returning this autumn and is promising to be an even bigger event with more variety than previous years.
The three-day festival is a great way to experience new things. On offer is an eclectic collection of complementary health, spiritual awareness, and personal development. The Experience Zone will be running sessions throughout the three-days giving visitors a chance to try out Vocal TaiChi, Belly Dancing, Nia, Capoeira and Salsa.
There are also over 150 exhibitors with things to entice all five senses - to see, feel, hear, smell and taste the rich diversity on offer from fairies to food blenders, runes to raw chocolate.
MBS organiser Julie Saunders said: "The MBS show offers an experience like no other with the aim of helping visitors to develop a healthy mind, healthy body and healthy soul. Visitors will be taking away new ideas and ancient wisdom and leave with a spring in their step."
From Latin rhythm, to sultry sitar, the multi-cultural assortment of entertainment on stage will also be interesting. And there will be plenty of space to unwind, relax, refresh and renew as well as plenty of hot and cold healthy food options available.
What's more, you get two shows for the price of one. This year visitors to the Mind Body Soul Experience will also have the opportunity to enter the OM Yoga Show for free. The two shows are being held at the same time in adjoining Olympia Halls - this means that visitors will be able to visit two shows with a ticket to one!
Entry details:
The London Mind Body Soul Experience is on 25, 26 and 27 October at Olympia Central (Level 1), London. Opening Times: Friday 25th October 11am - 6pm, Saturday 26th 10am - 6pm, Sunday 27th October 10am - 5pm. Admission: 1 Day Pass Adult lb12, Concession lb10, Children (under 16) free.
