ALL ANCIENT PANTHEONS CONTAIN A DEITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE SUN, SO THAT THE REVERENCE
AND WORSHIP PAID TO THE SUN WAS RITUALLY UNIVERSAL EVEN WHERE LUNAR WORSHIP MAY HAVE PREDOMINATED. THE SUN CONTAINS MANY MYSTICAL SECRETS WHICH THE ANCIENTS KNEW.
THESE SECRETS HAVE BEEN LOST TO THE MODERN WORLD.
IT WAS NOT THE VISIBLE ORB WHICH WAS WORSHIPED AS THE SOLAR DIVINITY, BUT THE SPIRITUAL POWER OR BEING WITHIN OR ABOVE THE PHYSICAL SUN, WHICH WAS BUT ITS REFLECTION.
THE AMARNA PERIOD
(AMENHOTEP III 1390 - 1352 BC others had broader appeal. From early periods solar gods such as Re had played an important role in Egyptian state religion because the distant but universal power of the sun fitted well with prevailing ideas of the supreme power of the king both within Egypt and beyond its borders.
AKHENATEN AS A SPHINX (KESTNER MUSEUM)
In the New Kingdom, solar gods again became prominent, among them the Aten, the visible sun-disk which can be seen traversing the sky each day. Akhenaten raised the Aten to the position of 'sole god', represented as a disk with rays of light terminating in hands which reach out to the royal family, sometimes offering the hieroglyphic sign for life. Akhenaten and his family are frequently shown worshipping the Aten or simply indulging in everyday activities beneath the disk. Everywhere the close ties between the king and god are stressed through art and text.
A number of hymns to the Aten were composed during Akhenaten's reign and these provide a glimpse of what has been described as the 'natural philosophy' of Akhenaten's religion. The wonders of the natural world are described to extol the universal power of the sun.
The most important surviving document of the new religion is the Aton Hymn, which was inscribed in several versions in the tombs of Akhetaton. Like
The only people who know and comprehend the god fully are said to be Akhenaton together with his wife, Nefertiti. The hymn to the Aton has been compared in imagery to Psalm 104 ('Bless the Lord, O my soul').
Akhenaten decided that the worship of the Aten required a location uncontaminated by the cults of traditional gods and to this end chose a site in Middle Egypt for a new capital city which he called Akhetaten, 'Horizon of the Aten'. It is a desert site surrounded on three sides by cliffs and to the west by the Nile and is known today as el-Amarna. In the cliffs around the boundaries of the city the king left a series of monumental inscriptions in which he outlined his reasons for the move and his architectural intentions for the city in the form of lists of buildings.
On the plain near the river massive temples to the Aten were constructed: these were open to the sky and the rays of the sun and were probably influenced by the design of much earlier solar temples dedicated to the cult of Re.
Akhenaten died in his seventeenth year on the throne and his reforms did not survive for long in his absence. The throne passed to a child, Tutankhamun (originally Tutankhaten) who was the son of Akhenaten.
Over time, the process of restoration of traditional cults turned to whole-scale obliteration of all things associated with Akhenaten. His image and names were removed from monuments. His temples were dismantled and the stone reused in the foundations of other more orthodox royal building projects. The city of Akhetaten gradually crumbled back into the desert. His name and those of his immediate successors were omitted from official king-lists so that they remained virtually unknown until the archaeological discoveries at Akhetaten and in the tomb of Tutankhamun made these kings amongst the most famous of all rulers of ancient Egypt.
THE WORD ATEN OR ATHEN IS A VERY OLD WORD FOR THE "DISK" OR "FACE OF THE SUN," AND ATENISM WAS BEYOND DOUBT AN OLD FORM OF WORSHIP OF THE SUN.
BUT THERE WERE MANY FORMS OF SUN-WORSHIP OLDER THAN THE CULT OF ATEN, AND SEVERAL
SOLAR GODS WERE WORSHIPPED IN EGYPT, MANY CENTURIES BEFORE ATEN WAS REGARDED AS A SPECIAL FORM OF THE GREAT SOLAR GOD AT ALL.
ONE OF THE OLDEST FORMS OF THE SUN-GOD WORSHIPPED IN EGYPT WAS HER (HORUS), WHO IN THE EARLIEST TIMES SEEMS TO HAVE REPRESENTED THE "HEIGHT" OR "FACE" OF HEAVEN BY DAY.
HE WAS SYMBOLIZED BY THE SPARROW HAWK, THE RIGHT EYE OF THE BIRD REPRESENTING THE SUN AND HIS LEFT THE MOON.
THE OLDEST SEAT OF THE CULT OF THE SUN-GOD WAS THE FAMOUS CITY OF ANU THE ON OF THE BIBLE, AND THE HELIOPOLIS OF GREEK AND LATIN WRITERS. GODS OF DEATH AND RESURRECTION ARE OFTEN GODS OF THE SOLAR CYCLE AND THE MOST IMPORTANT CHRISTIAN DATES IN THE YEAR MIRROR IT.
Since the beginning of human existence, civilisations have established religious beliefs that involved the Sun's significance to some extent or other. As new civilisations developed many spiritual beliefs were based on those from the past so that there has been an evolution of the sun's significance throughout cultural development.
In different religions solar supreme deities carry different names and are associated with different aspects of the cultural universe of the society, but for the most part its raw image remains identical.
The sun is vital to our existence, to producing our crops, lighting our way (spiritually and practically), they regulate our tides, even our own inner tides, hormones, blood and chemicals etc as we are so much water ourselves. Although we comprehend in some ways the scientific side of it and what the Sun is, really and truly there's a lot about how the Sun and Moon affect us inside that we still have much to learn.
We all know that without the sun as we know it there would be no life on earth... The sun isn't just a big ball of gas...it also has a spiritual counterpart just as the earth does and just as us humans do... sun worship back in the day was not just about the physical sun, it was about the energetic sun. it was about absorbing the energy of the sun in a way which feeds our subtle energy systems. Using the chakra system. The energy of the sun was breathed into certain energy centres which then fed the physical body...actually breathe in its energy through your 'solar' plexus... For certain there is an allegory in the sun as the light of consciousness. It's an allegory to spiritual enlightenment.
SOLAR SIGNIFICANCE
The Sun has affected human cultures since mankind first walked on the earth and has played an enormous role in the shaping of ancient civilisations dating as far back as the Sumerian's five thousand years ago. It has thus played a significant role in the shaping of the human race we are all a part of today.
We have seen the influence of the sun on our lives in the context of scientific discovery. However, it has also had a significant influence on our cultural pursuits including art, music, literature and dance. One of the Sun's greatest influences has been on religious or spiritual culture.
The Earth, our continents, oceans, in fact every living thing depends on light to be able to exist. Ancient Egyptian healer Priests knew that light is in fact emitted by every cell in our bodies. We live in a sea of energy where colour is working within us. It shines with in our divine self, and radiates upon us from the sun.
It has a presence on Earth through the power of its rays, which not only pervade our environment but also touch our very hearts. By the Sun, meaning does not simply refer to the outer luminary, the central star of our solar system. It means the principle of light and consciousness on a universal level, of which the Sun is our local representative.

A skeptic writes:Aah - but if it were not for our individual perception, through the eyes of 'I', we would not survive in this world. We drive down the road making decisions and physical adjustments to ensure our own safety and the safety of others.
This 'allusion' theory is all hogwash, in my opinion. What is so terribly wrong with realism that we should throw it out with the bathwater? Nothing lacking, nothing superfluous.
We should not get confused between our physical world and how things are in the moment. 'I' most certainly exists (IMO). This does not mean that is not part of a much greater 'I".
It is ironical that of all spiritual practises Zen should be most hijacked by metaphysicists when it probably the least metaphysical of all.
Just as I'm seeinit at this moment in time
:Namaste:
My response:
All one = alone. That is not a metaphysical statement, it is a statement of immediate and direct knowing. We can not get into squabbles if we are not simultaneously all one and alone. This is the meaning of the fourfold dharmadhatu taught in the Avatamsaka Sutra and affirmed by Zen.
Well, it looks to me like there is confusion and a failure to distinguish clearly between (1) what is conditioned simply by the necessity of language and (2) what is truly "metaphysical."
The "I" as a conceptual configuration is exactly what is metaphysical when that "I" is treated as anything but a conceptual configuration.
From the Zen Buddhist perspective, as supported by the Lankavatara, Avatamsaka, Queen Srimala's Lion's Roar Sutras and others, the notion of a "physical world" is a metaphysical conception. In fact, the notion of a "physical world" is a construction centered in the fourth skandha activity supported by the interactions of the other skandhas.
The idea that perception is "through the eyes" is not a Zen idea, it is a philosophical and metaphysical idea. The Surangama Sutra articulates this issue, nearly ad nauseum, when Buddha explains to Ananda in countless ways how it is only erroneous conception to think that perception is through the eyes, much less, through the eyes of "I".
"Self" consciousness is a natural mirage, the most natural illusion of the human consciousness and this is because human consciousness is based on the abiding state of ignorance. As the sutras teach, there is no greater power "in the world" than the abiding state of ignorance. The only power capable of freeing us from the hold of the false conceptions arising from the abiding state of ignorance is the power that is not contained in or by the worldly conceptions. Even the arahants and bodhisattvas cannot overcome it.
Queen Srimala's Lion's Roar Sutra writes: "World Honored One, the mind does not match up with the beginningless abiding state of ignorance. World Honored One, the force of these four abiding states is the basic seed of every ascending affliction, yet that, as well, is unable to be compared, by calculation or by metaphor, to the abiding state of ignorance. World Honored One, such is the force of the abiding state of ignorance, that as for the fourth abiding state of the love of existence this force of the abiding state of ignorance is even greater. To allegorize, it is like surpassing the forms, force, length of life, retinue, and multitude of possessions of the Evil Mara-Papiyan in the Heaven of Paranirmitava'savarin. Such is the force of the abiding state of ignorance, that as for the fourth abiding state of the love of existence this force conquers it. As the basis of the numerous classes of the ascending afflictions as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, likewise it decrees that the four kinds of afflictions long abide. That state of the innate intelligence of the Arhats and Independent Buddhas does not eliminate it. Only that state of the innate intelligence of the enlightenment of the Tathagata eliminates it. Thus it is World Honored One the abiding state of ignorance is a very great force."
The existence of an "I" is the very most uncertain thing that is the most mistaken to be certain. The certainty of the "I" is only a metaphysical certainty.
Realism is a metaphysical assertion by a school of philosophy.

Wiccans love Halloween. Wiccans celebrate this holiday, called Samhain, as one of the yearly Sabbats of the Wheel of the Year. Wiccans believe that Halloween is the most important of the four greatest Sabbats.
The tradition starts when the sun sets. Wiccans pay respect to family members and friends who are deceased. It is a celebration of their loved ones who have died and in fact, their spirits are welome to join in such celebration.
WICCAN SAMHIM
Halloween or Samhain is known as being on one point of the wheel which celebrates the spirit of darkness and the dead. At the opposite end of the wheel is another Sabbat Wiccans celebrate which is the spring festival of Beltane. Samhain celebrates darkness while Beltane celebrates light and fertility.
Wiccans see Samhain as a night when there is a door to the other world opened to them. They can celebrate with the dead, and communicate with the dead. Because Samhain falls in late October to November, it is a holiday that marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the darker, winter half of the year.
Have a safe Halloween and remember that the door is open to the other world. You really can communicate with your loved ones that have passed on. Celebrate, dance and most of all be safe on Samhain.

Firstly, don't think this is just another book about Aleister Crowley, as it definitely isn't! This book is more about looking at how the Book of The Law, the text that was received by Crowley from his Holy Guardian Angel, Aiwass, can be seen to be predicting a new Aeon (the Aeon of Horus) and a shift in human consciousness. Crowley is the "Prophet" or "Messiah" charged with ushering in this new age.
Crowley is seen not as an evil black magician, and Paul Weston has done much research to disprove some of the half-truths and general unfounded rumours that caused the Great Beast to be seen as the "wickedest man in the world".
This book explores the events, people and currents that can be seen to be pointers to this new Aeon of Horus, the God of War who would bring about destruction starting with World War Two in 1939.
The book also looks at the magical revival, which Crowley is undeniably the major player in.
Psychedelia and ET phenomena are also explored as undeniable evidence that a shift in consciousness was happening.
This book covers so many interesting people and events, from World War Two and Hitler, to Witchcraft and Conspiracy Theories.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone, not just those interested in Aleister Crowley, but anyone interested in the history of Occult, and especially the Nazi involvement and interest in the Occult. I found this book very hard to put down once I had started it! The only criticism I would make is that addition of footnotes referring the interested reader to further research material would have been a good idea.

The first time I crossed this subject I talked about Prayer in Schools, and now, it's time to go over the Pledge. For most of us who grew up saying the Pledge every day, it's not something that's questioned when it comes to our kids saying it. We simply do the "We did it and we turned out fine" line and we never think about it again. But, as with many things, there's an issue with that. Because if we never consider what is wrong with the way things are, things never change, and the world continues on the same path it was.
Now, I don't have an issue with the Pledge itself - per-say... But there are two major problems with having young children recite it on a daily basis...
The first of which is the Pledge itself. In it's original form there was no mention of God or Religion. For those that don't know the history, here's a brief one.
Prior to 1924 the Pledge was very different from what we tend to think of today. One simple sentence it read "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." In 1924 the word MY was changed so it read THE Flag. This version was used until 1954. It wasn't until the McCarthy era, and the fear of communism that Congress passed a bill which added the words "under God."
You may wonder why this all matters? Well, basically it's a question of Should the Pledge include any mention of God in a country where Religion and Government are meant to be separate? In my opinion, and the opinion of a great many others, NO. I would love to see the Pledge revert back to it's Pre-1954 version with no mention of God. And at present there are quite a few movements to do just that! Now it's up to Congress to listen to it's people... - So we may never see it happen!
But that's only half the reason I would like to see the Pledge removed from schools. The other half is much more basic. While I see good reason for students to learn these words, as a matter of both their culture and their history. I find the idea of children reciting a pledge of any kind as counterproductive!
To understand my thinking here first I think we need to explore what a Pledge is. Dictionary.com defines the word as such: "a solemn promise or agreement to do or refrain from doing something." In every day terms a Pledge is a contract or oath, isn't that what "solemn promise" means after all?
According to both this countries laws and basic common sense, children can not enter in to a contract. Why is this? Because a child does not have the basic understanding to enter in to any agreement. They don't understand what it means to Pledge or to take an oath... They can't understand how such things can alter their lives long term, nor can they grasp the concept or weight of an oath or contract of any kind.
So it then stands to reason that asking a child to repeat to Pledge their Allegiance to anything is simply ludicrous. They don't understand what they are doing, and they can't legally make such an oath.
I guess you could feel that's a stretch IF you feel the Pledge is simply a bunch of words with no meaning... But to me, they are more than that, to me, they have a great meaning, as they should to any US Citizen. And in my opinion, having millions of people - children no less - who have no idea how serious their words are repeat such a pledge day after day after day not only teaches them that it has no meaning but completely invalidates it when it is said by those who know and respect it's meaning.
Please don't get me wrong, children should learn the Pledge. But they should be learning the history and meaning behind it, not just the words. They need to understand WHY it's important and WHY it's something that should be respected. Simply teaching them to say words (which have no meaning to them) day in and day out doesn't do that. If anything it just teaches them it's no different than a nursery rhyme or kiddie song.
I love this country! And I love being an American! In fact I'm highly proud of it! But I'm not one to simply stand back and blindly follow the status quo simply because it's "American" to do something. If anything, standing up for what you believe and working to create change to protect both the citizens of this country and those things which are most "sacred" to the country as a whole is more "American" than anything else I can think of!

VATIC NOTE: I have pontificated upon this subject enough, however, this is up as another confirmation for those who write to me denying their existance as the ashkenazi Jews. At least the Pals are either Muslim, God based or Christian... same.
That is why their standards of morality exists while none exists for the Khazars and never has. They liked Satanism because the saying was "Do what thou will, without regard for who it harms." ASHKENAZI JEWS ARE A MIX OF GENETIC ANCESTRIES, FAR MORE OF WHICH THAN PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT ORIGINATING IN TRIBES FROM THE CAUCASUS - A REGION THAT SITS IN BETWEEN EASTERN EUROPE AND ASIA BETWEEN THE BLACK AND THE CASPIAN SEAS. THOSE SLAV, SCYTHIAN, HUNNIC-BULGAR, IRANIAN, ALAN AND TURKIC TRIBES FORMED A CONFEDERATION THAT CREATED THE KHAZAR EMPIRE - WHICH AT ITS HEIGHT STRETCHED FROM KIEV IN THE WEST TO THE ARAL SEA IN THE SOUTHEAST.
NEW GENETIC STUDY REPORTEDLY PROVES KHAZAR ANCESTRY FOR ASHKENAZI JEWS
by Shmarya Rosenberg o Failedmessiah.com
Ashkenazi Jews are a mix of genetic ancestries, far more of which than previously thought originating in tribes from the Caucasus - a region that sits in between Eastern Europe and Asia between the Black and the Caspian seas, Reuters reports.
Those Slav, Scythian, Hunnic-Bulgar, Iranian, Alan and Turkic tribes formed a confederation that created the KHAZAR EMPIRE - which at its height stretched from Kiev in the west to the Aral Sea in the southeast.
Members of those tribes, thought to be PRIMARILY FROM THE UPPER AND MERCHANT CLASSES, converted to Judaism in the 8th century CE, a new genetic study has found.
Those conversions are believed to have been sparked by a small number of Jews with origins in the biblical Land of Israel who traveled to the region. (VN: IN A PREVIOUS BLOG WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY WERE 1% OF THE KHAZAR POPULATION AS WAS THE CASE IN EVERY COUNTRY THESE SEMITIC JEWS MIGRATED TO. THEY WERE THREATENED BY THE CATHOLICS ON THE WEST AND MUSLIMS ON THE EAST TO PICK ONE OF THEIR RELIGIONS SO THEY WOULD OBTAIN A MORAL BASE FOR OPERATING WITH OTHER COUNTRIES, AND THE KHAZARS SAW THEY WERE THE MAJORITY OF THOSE IN THEIR COUNTRY CALLED JEWS. THE CATHOLICS AND MUSLIM'S ACCEPTED THEIR CHOICE SINCE JUDEAISM WAS THE FOUNDATION FOR BOTH CHRISTIAN AND MUSLIM RELIGIONS. THE KHAZARS WERE PAGANS AND ENDED UP HATING CHRISTIANITY AND ULTIMATELY JUDAISM, AS WELL. GIVEN WHAT WE HAVE SEEN HERE, NOW WE KNOW WHY.)
The Khazar empire also saw immigration by Jews from Mesopotamia and imperial Byzantium. It became so successful that it formed colonies in Hungary and Romania. But it didn't last.
After more than 500 years, the Khazar's empire collapsed in the 11th century CE due to Mongol attacks and the Black Death. Many Jewish refugees fled westward into Eastern Europe, becoming the bulk of what we know today as Ashkenazi Jewry.
Known as the Khazar Hypothesis, it had previously been dismissed by geneticists whose studies often contradicted each other and which often seemed to be geared to proving a preconceived notion or desire - near-unadulterated ancestry from ancient Judea - rather than discovering the truth.
That led geneticist Eran Elhaik of the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland to try to reconcile those conflicting studies. And that led him to genetic data that he believes proves the Khazar Hypothesis is accurate.
Elhaik found ancestral genetic signatures that pointed clearly to the Caucasus. He also found such signatures that pointed the Middle East, but to a far, far smaller degree.
"We conclude that the genome of European Jews is a tapestry of ancient populations including Judaised Khazars, Greco-Roman Jews, Mesopotamian Jews and Judeans. Their population structure was formed in the Caucasus and the banks of the Volga, with roots stretching to Canaan and the banks of the Jordan," Elhaik claims.
Previous genetic studies appeared to support the Rhineland Hypothesis, which posits that Ashkenazi Jews descended from Jews who fled the Land of Israel after the Moslem conquest in 638 AD, settling in southern Europe and slowly working their way north. 50,000 supposedly later moved from the Rhineland into eastern Europe in the later Middle Ages.
But there are serious problems with the Rhineland Hypothesis - so serious that some of its proponents actually posited a Divine miracle to account for them.
For example, the population of Eastern European Jews surged from 50,000 in the 15th century CE to about 8 million by the start of the 20th century - a birthrate 10 times greater than the local non-Jewish population that surrounded them. That implausible population surge would have had to take place despite the economic hardship, wars and pogroms that ravaged those Jewish communities, and the plague that ravaged the entire region.
Another problem with the Rhineland Hypothesis is Yiddish, the language of Eastern European Jews.
"Yiddish, the language of Central and Eastern European Jews, began as a Slavic language," Elhaik notes. It was classified as a dialect of High German later.
European Jews and their ancestral groups in the Caucasus and Middle East share a relatively high risk of diseases such as cystic fibrosis, as well - another possible indicator of origins.
Elhaik's study, published in the British journal Genome Biology and Evolution, compares the genomes of 1,287 un Some contemporaneous and near-contemporaneous historical accounts from surrounding cultures note the Khazar's adherence to Judaism. (VN: IF YOU LOOK AT THE TALMUD THAT THESE KHAZARS USE, YOU WILL SEE IT DIFFERENCE DRAMATICALLY FROM THE JERUSALUM TALMUD IN THE LACK OF MORAL STANDARDS FOUND IN THE KHAZARS BABYLONIAN TALMUD AS WE COVERED IN THIS BLOG IN THE PAST. THE KHAZARS NEVER GAVE UP THEIR PAGAN RELIGION, THEY SIMPLY MADE IT SATANIC IN NATURE, THAT IS WHY THEY USE THE PAGAN BABYLONIAN TALMUD. THE REAL JEWS STUCK HEAVILY WITH THE TORAH.)

My post on religion seemed to interest a fair number of people, so I thought it would be worth doing another one, summing up my view of the situation.
I think it is unlikely that any particular one of the standard religions is correct in the form in which most believers hold it-a form which includes belief in the falsity of all of the competing religions. In that form, at most one religion can be true-I'm oversimplifying a bit, since there are probably some religions which aren't inconsistent with each other, but most are-so the odds that any particular religion is true are low.
There are then at least three interesting possibilities:
1. All religions are pretty much entirely wrong; there are no gods. This is my view, as it happens, but in this post I want to argue that there are alternative positions that reasonable people might hold.
2. One of the existing religions is correct, or very close to correct, in the form in which most believers hold it. There is supposed to be a tradition of Mohamed saying that, at the day of judgment, his followers would be divided into a thousand sects of which only one would have the truth; I see no logical reason why that couldn't be the case. If it is, the odds of getting the right religion are low. On the other hand, some versions of some religions hold that it is sufficient to get close, which would improve your odds a bit.
3. There is a true religious belief and some, perhaps many, perhaps even all, religions imperfectly reflect it. This makes sense if the reality in question is sufficiently hard for humans to understand that a completely correct account of it would be incomprehensible to them. It corresponds to Haldane's speculation about the physical world, which I mentioned in my earlier post. To me, this alternative is the most interesting and plausible of the versions in which religions are not simply all wrong.
Some critics might object that if my third alternative is correct then almost all religious believers are wrong, and if they are all wrong, what reason do we have to believe there is anything to religion at all? The obvious response is to try to apply the same standard to our understanding of physical reality. In my previous post I offered the example of light. Its behavior can be understood as either a wave or a particle, two explanations which appear inconsistent to our intuition.
In that case, we now know enough to write the equations for an explanation consistent with all of the evidence. But from the standpoint of someone living before the discovery of quantum mechanics, or someone living now who, whether or not he knows quantum mechanics, doesn't intuit it, the situation is very much what I have described for religion. There is a reality out there, we have two inconsistent pictures of it, and both are in part true.
The same holds in lots of other areas. Consider economics. Writing as an economist, I frequently treat economics as if it were the full description of human behavior, but obviously it isn't; indeed, I have one article which tries to use evolutionary psychology to explain patterns of behavior inconsistent with economics. Human beings routinely deal with complicated realities through models that have enough truth to be useful and are simple enough to be usable. There is no particular reason why, if there is a "religious reality" out there-if, for instance, there is something reasonably describable as a god (or gods)-it shouldn't fit the same pattern.
We are left with the problem of how to decide between my first and third alternatives. At one time I thought I had an answer to that, a proof that the existence of God was less likely than the non-existence of God. The argument, which I created when I was about nine, depended on Occam's razor, the idea that simpler hypotheses are to be preferred to more complicated hypotheses. A universe with God includes, as a subset, the universe minus God. Hence the theist picture has to be more complicated than the atheist picture, hence it is less likely.
There are two problems with this purported proof, as I eventually realized. The first is that the "universe minus God" might not be an internally consistent picture; some features of the universe might depend on the existence of God to work. The second is that there is no good reason, at least none I can see, to think that Occam's razor applies to the nature of the universe. It's true that simpler hypotheses are, ceteris paribus, easier to work with-but the question here is not which picture is easier to understand but which is true. And it seems plausible that simple things are more likely to come into existence than more complicated things, again ceteris paribus. But it is hard to see how that is relevant to the universe, with or without a God.
All of which leaves me with the point I made in my previous post. Humans have very good pattern recognition software and routinely use it to solve problems that we could not solve by anything describable as logical deduction-most obviously, the problem of deducing from the data coming from our retinas the contents of our visual field. Our eyes don't see objects, they see patterns of colored light. By the time that information reaches our consciousness, it has already been heavily processed.
Humans use their pattern recognition software to make sense of the world around them, and different people get different results. Since we don't have enough data to uniquely determine the pattern, the best guess someone accepts often depends, in large part, on what he is told by the people around him. That is quite obviously true with regard to our beliefs about the nature of the physical world; none of us has enough first hand data to recreate most of what we believe about it, so we are dependent both on second hand data and on the results of other people's analysis. It isn't surprising if, for those people who believe that there is a religious reality out there, the particular version they accept depends in large part on the beliefs of the people around them.
What about the larger question-alternative 1 vs alternative 3? Once one sees the alternatives as "some version of the atheist world view is true" vs "some version of the theist world view is true," the arguments for atheism become less compelling, since most of those arguments are attacks on particular versions of the theist world view. One is left with the question of which picture one finds more convincing. I observe that different people, even different intelligent and apparently rational people, reach different conclusions.
One further point. In the comment thread to my previous post, I suggested that the quote from Sam Harris on witchcraft that a commenter had offered reflected a pop history view of the subject-witchcraft persecutions driven by the Catholic church's religious beliefs-and that that view was inconsistent with the historical evidence. The commenter responded that the argument Harris was making didn't depend on the historical accuracy of his historical example, which was true.
On the other hand, the reliability of Harris's view of the world as a whole-or mine-does depend in part on the accuracy of the data on which it is based. If his world view includes a history in which religions have been consistently hostile to reason, that makes him more likely to construct a pattern in which religion is simply superstitious, irrational nonsense. If that history is false, as I think it is, that is a reason to distrust the pattern he has built. If the actual historical story shows religions and religious people sometimes sensible, sometimes not, sometimes attacking reason, sometimes supporting it-behaving, in other words, not all that differently from non-religious people and institutions-that weakens the grounds on which his conclusion is based.
My own conclusion, as before, is that I do not think God exists. But neither do I think that conclusion so obviously true that all reasonable people ought to accept it.

IMBOLC
February 2
-
I mbolc (im-bulk), meaning "in the belly", is also known as Oiemelc or "ewes milk" and celebrates the first lactation of the ewes, siginifying the beginning of the lambing season and considered by ancient agrarian cultures as the first sign of the coming spring. This is the time of the year when our days are becoming visibly longer as the Sun spends more and more time in the sky, and the first faint touches of Spring's greenery begin to show. It is a time of beginnings, a time when the first fields are plowed and prepared for the planting.
In many cultures this is also traditionally a time when signs are sought to fortell the next season's bounty. Most popular among these in Western culture is waiting to see if a snake or a groundhog,(both animals which hybernate during cold winters,) would leave their winter den, thereby predicting the length of the remaining Winter. Today we light a candle in every room in the house to chase away the darkness of winter anticipating the warmth of Spring. We cleanse and decorate our altars with the seasons first growth.
This day is Sacred, particularly to the Goddess Bride (Brid, Brigid, Brighid, Brigit, depending on your tradition), the Goddess of Smithcraft, Poetry, Magick, Fire and Light. In some traditions a dolly representing the Goddess is made from the seasons first greenery and carried by the family's youngest maiden from house to house to receive the blessings of the community. That evening, a basket is prepared called the Bride's bed. The dolly is placed in the basket and a white wand is placed in her hand. The basket is then set on the previously smoothed ashes of the hearth until morning. The next day if the ashes are disturbed the Goddess has blessed the house with prosperity for the coming warmer months. If the ashes are not disturbed, it was taken to mean that the Goddess was offended, and an offering must be buried in the ground where two streams meet.
The Wheel turns, and the Sun is gaining strength, as the young God keeps pace. The Goddess renews herself at the Well of Eternal Life, casting aside all memory of the Darkness of Winter, and is once again the Young Maiden. She is again wild and free, cavorting and playing through the budding growth of creation with the God, both of them full of the energy and potential of Life.

"St. Isidore of Chios (Feast Day - May 14)"
A Roman officer in the navy, Isidore confessed himself as a Christian to the commander of the fleet, Numerian, while they were on the Aegean island of Chios. Because he was unwilling to repent and worship the gods of the state, he was tormented and beheaded.
His body was cast into a cistern. A young Christian woman, Myrope (December 2), with the help of a friend Ammonios (September 4), retrieved the body although it was guarded by soldiers. On learning that the soldiers would be put to death if they failed to find the body, Myrope went to Numerius and confessed that she had taken Isidore's body, but refused to say where it was then interred. Numerius had her publicly flogged, then thrown into prison.
Before she died, Myrope had a vision of Holy Isidore, who "encouraged her with the news that although she was about to die for what she had done it would not have been in vain because she would be giving her life for Jesus Christ and not for Isidore or their Christian friends." Later on Ammonios himself accepted a martyr's death in the city of Kyzikos.
Myrope body was interred beside Isidore's, and a chapel erected over the graves. Saint Marcian built another in the fifth century next to the Church of Saint Irene in Constantinople. In 1525, the relics of Isidore and Myrope were moved by the Latins to the Church of Saint Mark in Venice.
BASILICA MONUMENT OF ST. ISIDORE OF CHIOS
The basilica monument of St. Isidore in Chios is an Orthodox monument, with the remains of an early Christian basilica partly covered by a small church with a low cement roof, located in Letsaina of Chios town in Chios. The first excavation research of this site begun by G. Soteriou in 1918 and continued by A. Orlandos, in 1928. Excavations were also conducted in the summer of 1981 and 1982, by the 3rd Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities.
In the basilica are preserved mosaic floors decorated with geometric patterns, and many relief architectural parts. Inside the church there is a subterranean vaulted crypt where the relics of St. Isidore and St. Myrope (who martyred in Chios during the Early Christian period) were once kept.
The Early Christian basilica of St. Isidore was built on the remains of an earlier, Roman structure. According to tradition, the church was built in the second half of the 7th century, during the reign of Constantine IV Pogonatos. In the course of its long history, it has undergone several repairs, probably during the Frankish occupation, in the late Byzantine period and in modern times. Five architectural phases - the earliest of which dates to the 5th century - have been distinguished in the building, which was finally ruined by the earthquake of 1881.

As I continue to blog and post some rather arcane studies, the Lord continues to bring forth insight and subsequent freedom in us, as attested to by the spirit of the Lord and a steady stream of email. It's encouraging to me to see the Lord faithfully attending to the need we have to be filled with Him, His peace and joy.
In this season, as Walpurgisnacht and Beltane are now at hand, the enemy is being fortified through the practices of worship. Those committed to his service perform rituals and cast spells, seeking enhancement of their powers, increase of their domain, promotion within the ranks... What may be attained in this season will carry forward like momentum built towards their ultimate goal - union with their god.
Many of us saints enter into spiritual warfare on behalf of those against whom this evil is intended, and I encourage your participation in this, as the Lord leads. There are more victims than just those who directly suffer physically, and their families and loved ones, and owners of the pets and livestock.
Blessings in Y'shua!

Remote viewing can be defined in multiple ways. It's the ability of individuals to describe a remote geographical location up to several hundred thousand kilometres away (even more) from their physical location. Although the concept has been proven, it's not clear to the mainstream scientific community how it's achieved. It's important to note that a lot of the research within these programs remains classified, and the majority of the information we do have today was previously classified(2) only to be approved for release years later. It makes you wonder, what information with regards to the remote viewing phenomenon remains classified?
Our world is full of information, the only problem is we don't always know where to look. Scientific discoveries that are relevant to the human race are not always emphasized. Many types of phenomena we still deem to be false have been proven to be a true reality long ago. These realities have far reaching implications, and shedding light on them further confirms new concepts of reality that are yet to receive the attention they deserve in our scientific community. What happens when we come across information that goes beyond matter and into the realm of reality we can't sense with our eyes, can't feel with our hands, can't hear with our ears or can't smell with our nose? Does it cease to become scientific? Absolutely not, quantum physics has confirmed the non-physical reality in years past, and the human race is beginning to acknowledge these realities in its continual examination of the make-up of our reality.
The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in a decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence - Nikola TeslaScience has studied non-physical phenomena before, unfortunately a majority of it remains classified(2). Many discoveries associated with non-physical phenomena is unknown in the eyes of the masses, but known in the classified world. It's called parapsychology, a term used to replace the previous term "psychical research." Studies concerning paranormal phenomena have long been associated with controversy for no good reason. With multiple studies and research confirming the validity of paranormal phenomena, more people are becoming aware that these concepts have been demonstrated and proven in multiple laboratories in years past (0). The intelligence community is of no exception to this. Beginning in the 1970's, the department of defence has co-operated with researchers from various universities(1)(2) by conducting multiple experiments and creating programs designed to investigate the application of paranormal phenomena. One phenomenon that seems to receive the majority of their attention is remote viewing (1)(2).

Bite the Magic and Wisdom of Apple
a wonderful piece of art by SHLOMILE
APPLE is considered since the Ancient ages a very significant fruit for many cultures and religions.
Apple tree is the one whose fruits grants the power of KNOWLEGDE OVER GOOD AND EVIL IN PARADISE. This is just an example; there are many in GREEK and CELTIC religion and in much more cultures. But this is something we will examine soon in depth.
The purpose of this Article is to point that the fruit itself got much power. TAKE AN APPLE AND CUT IT THROUGH IT'S EQUATOR, YOU'LL BE SURPRISED BECAUSE YOU'LL FIND A PENTAGRAM HIDDEN in the flesh of the fruit. This is why ancient Greeks associated the Fruit with Venus, the Goddess and the Planet. THE ORBIT OF VENUS OVER FIVE SUCCESSIVE INFERIOR CONJUNCTIONS FOLLOWS A COMPLETE PENTAGRAM PATTERN. And this is why Jews associated the Apple tree with the fruits of knowlegde over Good and Evil, Top pointing pentragram - Good, bottom pointing pentagram - Evil.
This is why Apple fruit is so widely utilized in Magic. It holds the power of wisdom in itself.
TRY THIS! So, a very easy and yet effective spell, is to TAKE AN APPLE, a beautiful Apple, and then CARVE A SYMBOL OF WHAT YOU WISH ON IT. This may be a Heart, if you desire Romance, or you can even write the actual word "LOVE" on it. If you are talented enough you may even write a sentence like "I WANT 1000 " or maybe "I AM HANDSOME", "I AM HAPPY", or even maybe "I AM A WIZARD"!
ANYTHING YOU WANT TO BE MANIFESTED IN YOUR LIFE, COULD BE WRITEN ON A BEAUTIFUL APPLE.
When you are done writing what you wish, take the apple, and START EATING IT CLOCKWISE. With every bite you take, you get what you desire. Now that you've eaten the Apple your wish has already become reality in you.
When you have consumed the apple, you can burry the seeds or you can just throw it (preferably not in garbage, but in soil). Now that the rest of the apple is burried or lies in the soil, it will call upon the nature's force to manifest your desire.
TAKE FEW MINUTES TO VISUALISE WHAT YOU HAVE WISHED FOR. Please always remember that WHEN YOU ARE VISUALISING, YOU SHOULD SEE YOURSELF ALREADY HAVING WHAT YOU WANT. Visualize youself happy in a Marriage, or Rich spending you money on what you desire etc.
This spell is very powerful.
Discover, Play, Love!

Full Moon in Capricorn ~ July 14/15, 2011 Posted: 08 Jul 2011 09:00 PM PDT"Eclipse at Moonset (c) Itahisa N. Gonz'alez via APOD."
With the last of the Cancer-Capricorn eclipses behind us, this is the first FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN that is not an eclipse since 2009. Full moons signify the completion, culmination of what may have been initiated during the previous New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Cancer which offered us the chance to face our realities and rise up to the challenges ahead "(square to Saturn)", without losing sight on what gives us hope and healing "(links to Jupiter and Chiron)".
The Moon represents our heart, emotions, private life, inner drives, and is natively governed by sensitive and nurturing Cancer. In Capricorn, the zodiac sign opposite Cancer, the Moon feels emotionally restricted but focused on the tasks at hand. This FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN encourages us to acknowledge our realities, face our fears, and rise above them without losing our openness to love and compassion along the way. Let's not become jaded or calloused because of the hardships we've lived through and continue to face.
This Full Moon occurs on July 14 at 11:40 p.m. (Pacific) / July 15 at 2:40 a.m. (Eastern) at 23^0 of Capricorn. Those born within 3 days of July 14 and January 12 or with natal planets and/or house angles near 23^0 degrees of cardinal signs may feel the effects of this full moon stronger than others.
How might this full moon manifest in your world? Match the sign and degree to determine what house this full moon falls in. Use the list of zodiac signs below to identify the sign Capricorn on your birth chart then click here for a brief explanation on the Full Moon transit in that house.

Extremely Rare LARGE Antique Cast Iron Mortar & Pestle
A Witch's mortar and pestle is a tool used to crush, grind, and mix solid substances like herbs even crystals and stones to mix and blend into healing brews, cream as will as for use in spells and magick. The pestle is a heavy club-shaped object, the end of which is used for crushing and grinding. The mortar is a bowl once made of heavy cast iron is now more typically made of hard wood, ceramic or stone.
The substance to be ground is placed in the mortar and ground, crushed or mixed with the pestle. Sometimes referred to as an "Apothecary Grinder".
This Large and Extremely Rare Cast Iron Mortar & Pestle made of heavy cast iron which as been pitted over many years of use and age. The Mortar stands just over 6.5 inches tall with a 8 inch wide bowl. The base is 7.5 inches across and the bowl is 7 inches deep.
The Heavy Cast Iron Pestle is 11 inches long and they are the original set. Both have a wonderful and vintage energy that can be felt when working with this magickal set.
I have only slightly cleaned them since many of the spirit heart believe to clean them to much removes some of the energy held within them. There is some pitting on each piece which is only to be expected with something this old and rare. We believe it dates back to the mid 1700's. No apparent markings can be seen, but the only one I could fine similar to this set was in England and dated to the early 1700's.
* This is an genuine and authentic "Antique" Cast Iron Mortar and Pestle. It is well over 100 years of age. Yet according to our research the mortar and pestle are approximately two hundred years old. They are a set and are sold only as a set.
Condition:
This measures in overall height, as measured from the bottom to the top, approximately 6.5 inches. The top interior diameter, as measured across the inside of the upper rim, measures approximately 8 inches.
The bottom diameter, as measured across the bottom, measures approximately 7.5 inches The inside of the mortar is approximately 7 inches deep.
The total weight of both pieces, together, the mortar and the pestle, weighs approximately 20 lbs. (Before shipping.)

How should SSRF incense sticks be used and handled?
TABLE OF CONTENTS1. Do's and don'ts in the usage and handling of SSRF incense sticks
2. How long can I use my stock of SSRF incense sticks?
3. Use of SSRF incense sticks box for spiritual healing
SSRF advises continuation of conventional medical treatment along with spiritual healing remedies for the treatment of physical and psychiatric illnesses.
Readers are advised to take up any spiritual healing remedy at their own discretion.
1. DO'S AND DON'TS IN THE USAGE AND HANDLING OF SSRF INCENSE STICKS
o MAXIMISE ATTRACTION OF THE DEITY PRINCIPLE:
The benefit from the SSRF incense sticks is based primarily on the specific aspect of God (deity) that is attracted by the fragrance from the lit incense stick. Hence all efforts to maximise attraction of this deity principle will add to the benefit.
* The more the reverence of the person lighting the SSRF incense stick, the more is the benefit accrued. This feeling of reverence also applies to all those in the vicinity who will be drawing benefit from the healing energy.
* Having a clean and tidy home is also very important. A clean home means less "raja-tama". This works in two ways. A lower "raja-tama" home environment results in attracting more deity principle. Also as the attracted deity principle has to fight less existing" raja-tama", more benefit from the Divine Consciousness ("Chaitanya") is obtained by the person and premise.
o HOLDERS FOR THE INCENSE STICKS:
It is best to have a proper incense stick holder or some "sattvik" holder. This is from a reverence point of view, a safety point of view and from the point of view of collecting Holy ash from the SSRF incense sticks.
* From a reverence point of view: Some people stick incense sticks in cracks and crevices in the walls etc. This is not correct spiritually. Also, the ash falls on the ground and can get trampled upon, which amounts to disrespect of the Holy ash. Use of an incense stick holder along with a plate underneath is the best way to collect the Holy ash after the incense stick burns. If one does not want to collect the Holy ash, "sattvik" holders such as fruits (for example apple), potatoes and bowl of grain etc. can be used.
* From a safety point of view: Ash dropping on a carpet or cloth may be a fire hazard. Hence it is recommended to have a plate to collect the ash as it falls.
o STORAGE
As the SSRF incense sticks are designed primarily from a spiritual healing perspective, it is best to store the incense sticks indoors preferably at the altar (in a dry place) from the point of view of retaining its "sattvikta".
1.2 DON'TS
o DURING MENSES
The subtle basic "raja" component in the woman increases during the five days of menses or till the bleeding continues. Hence if a woman in menstrual phase comes in contact with the incense sticks the spiritual purity or subtle basic "sattva" component in them is reduced. Hence it is advisable not to touch the store of incense sticks during menses. Also it is best not to light incense sticks or take them around for purification of premise during the period of menses.
However if a woman is staying alone she can keep a small number of incense sticks apart before her menses to use during that period. This is so that she does not have to touch the main store of incense sticks as that would result in reducing its spiritual purity to some extent.
2. HOW LONG CAN I USE MY STOCK OF SSRF INCENSE STICKS?
SSRF incense sticks have a shelf life of two years. It is best to use them within this time period as the potency of the fragrance diminishes with passing time. However it is best that the incense stick stock is used within three months of purchase as leaving it around in the house can result in generation of a covering of black energy on it thus diminishing its potency.
Ghosts can cover incense sticks with black energy to reduce its spiritual healing potency. The best way to ensure this is minimised, is by keeping it at the altar and praying for protection of the incense sticks. Also, before each use we can pray that if at all any covering has developed it be destroyed.
3. USE OF SSRF INCENSE STICKS BOX FOR SPIRITUAL HEALING
The artwork of the SSRF incense sticks box is high in subtle basic "sattva" component. The artwork is reviewed for optimal spiritual purity by His Holiness Dr. Athavale. Also the presence of the SSRF incense sticks in it adds to its "sattvikta". Most importantly the unmanifest resolve of His Holiness Dr. Athavale is associated with it. Hence the box itself is very "sattvik" and can itself be used as a spiritual healing tool.
From this perspective, the SSRF incense stick box can be placed in cupboards, wardrobes etc. It can be flattened and then kept under mattresses, pillows etc. All these objects as well as the people coming in contact with these objects benefit from the "sattvikta" of the box.
