Venerable Gennadius Of Kostroma

Venerable Gennadius Of Kostroma

COMMEMORATED ON JANUARY 23

Saint Gennadius of Kostroma and Liubimograd, in the world Gregory, was born in the city of Mogilev into a rich family. He early displayed love for the church, and his frequent visits to monasteries evoked the dismay of his parents. Gregory, however, was firmly resolved to devote himself to God, and changing into tattered clothing, he secretly left his parental home and journeyed to Moscow.

He visited the holy places in Moscow, but he did not find it suitable in spirit and so set out to the Novgorod region. The destiny of the future ascetic was decided by an encounter with St Alexander of Svir (August 30). With his blessing, Gregory went to the Vologda forest to St Cornelius of Komel (May 19), and was tonsured by him with the name Gennadius. Together with St Cornelius, Gennadius moved on to the Kostroma forest. Here, on the shores of Lake Sura, in about the year 1529, there emerged the monastery of the Transfiguration of the Lord, afterwards called "the Gennadiev monastery". Having become igumen, St Gennadius did not slacken his monastic efforts, and together with the brethren he went out to the monastery tasks: he chopped wood, carried firewood, made candles and baked prosphora. He also wore heavy chains. One of his favorite tasks was the painting of icons, with which he adorned his new monastery.

For his holy life St Gennadius received from the Lord the gift of clairvoyance and wonderworking. Journeying to Moscow on monastic affairs, at the house of the nobleman Roman Zakharin, the saint predicted to his daughter Anastasia that she would become Tsaritsa. Indeed, Tsar Ivan the Terrible chose her as his wife.

The Life of St Gennadius was written by his disciple, Iguman Alexis, between the years 1584-1587. In it was inserted his spiritual testament, dictated by St Gennadius himself. In it he commands the monks to observe the monastery Rule, to toil constantly, to be at peace with everyone, and to preserve the

Awakening The Halloween Magic With Suspense And Horror

Awakening The Halloween Magic With Suspense And Horror
Awakening the Dragon-Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy(9780979840609) is a story of magic, suspense and karmic justice combine in a tale of horror. Rachael moves to Coyote Springs to find a home and open her But first she needed to insure the safety of her children and herself. She closed the door. Walking to the Eastern corner of the room, she raised her hands. "This room represents the entire house, the entire property. The powers of the East-beings of light, air, rain, thunder, lightening, wind. I ask you to attend to witness and protect my circle." Her hands came together in front of her forehead. She lowered them to her heart level. Moving to the Southern corner, she again lifted her arms. "The powers of the South-beings of fire, heat, the sun, the heavens above which shelters and protect us, keeping us warm and growing our food. I ask you to attend to witness and protect my circle." Her hands came together and she lowered them to her heart. She moved to the Western corner and raised her hands. "Powers of the West-thou who provides our water, our fish, the cleansing element of our bodies and our souls, you satisfy our thirst and calm our souls. I ask you to attend my circle to witness and protect." Her skin began to tingle with the energy she brought into the room.

The temperature dropped, them warmed as the electrical and gravitational levels fluctuated. Rachael walked to the Northern corner and raised her arms. "The beings of the North, I ask you to attend to witness and protect my circle. Like the Earth Mother be the grounding force that provides protection and comfort. You who gives us our homes, our food, and the love we all need to survive." Bringing her hands down, she turned and walked to the center of the room. "I have asked you here to witness my new home. I call it mine for me and my children-Tara, Merlin, and Ralph. We alone are residents here. All others are visitors. To be protected, yet we alone call this place home. From above and below and from all four directions, I encircle this house-my home, my yard, my car, myself and my children in the silver and golden healing lights so that we may be safe, secure and know we are well loved. I authorize whatever force necessary to protect the residents of this home, starting at first with minimal to deadly if necessary. I ask all deities present to insure the safety of me and mine."

The air charged. Heat radiated off the walls, like the hot waves off black top. The energy circulated from within and around her expanding to fill the room. She continued without knowing why. "I combine my energy and tradition with all those of light who have gone before. May we be joined, making each stronger exponentially. Where there was one, may there be two. Where there is two may there be the power and wisdom of four. Where there be four, may the power of sixteen do what must be done. And so it goes until all the beings of light work together as the whole." Through her mind's eye, she saw the energy in the room expand, filling the room, spilling out to fill the house and yard to the borders of the property. A column of light shot both upward, as a beacon, and downward, connecting them to the source. "Thank you for your blessings."

Up from the ground, another energy surged. For a moment, Rachael was frightened. It withdrew, returning more softly. It filled her heart with love. She saw an older woman. She was from the dream. Smiling, she walked to Rachael and placed a ring of iridescent flowers around her neck. She spread her arms wide. Bubbles of the same shiny energy floated down from the heavens, filling the house and the yard, building a solid fence around the property.

Rachael knew the bubbles pile high and energized the ground beneath them. She breathed it in and it filled her being with love and strength. The woman stepped away, fading into the energy around them. She opened her eyes. Knowing she had been blessed by the Earth Mother, herself; she bowed her head in gratitude. "Thank you, Mother."

You're welcome, daughter, whispered the wind. Call you new protectors. Spirits of the centuries of times long past, yet still now live on, I call you to be special protectors of this guardian and those she loves. Eyes that see all of the night I charge your claws and fangs to defend with all that is necessary to keep evil at bay.

Rachael heard them before her she saw them in her mind's eye. Large and aware, she could see them manifest in the trees, shrubs and shadows around the cottage. Multi-shades of gold and green, their luminescent eyes rivaling the sunlight.

A single tiger leaped and landed before the woman. She reached out and stroked its head. He purred. Pointing to Rachael, she continued. "She is the guardian of this holy place." She pointed at the suddenly quiet carrier. "These are her children. Let no harm come to them. Both day and night watch and defend. As it was before, you and the others have free reign. Do not wait for her to call. As you sense so shall you react."

The golden eyes fixated on Rachael, sending shivers through her. Sensed his powerful spirit gently embracing her, getting to know her. He turned his head toward the carrier for a moment; then he vanished.

"As you are the guardian of this place, so they are to you. No harm shall come to you. Whether here or out in the world, one will always be close. Take care how you direct them." As in the field, she reached out and cupped Rachael's chin in her palm. "You have the strength, wisdom, and the honor for the tasks at hand. Do not doubt yourself." Smiling, she tweaked the end of Rachael's nose. "Now call the Mother Dragon. So we can continue."

Rachael took a deep breath and tried to remember the correct wording.

"Speak from you heart and she will hear."

"Mother of all the clans. The source of all our wisdom and strength I ask you to come to this my new home and bless it with your protection. It has been a source of love and wisdom, but now it is under attack by ignorance and bigotry. I ask you to bless it in such away that all the clans watch over and protect us. Let this beautiful place of light and love shine as a beacon for those who need comfort."

Suddenly the room glowed with incandescent silver light that came from everywhere, yet nowhere. It filled the room. Again, Rachael knew it went far beyond to radiate though the cottage and out into the yard. The hair on her arms stood on end as the room charged with the energy of the Mother Dragon. Only once before did she feel as close to the Mother Dragon-when she dedicated herself to the dragon clan. Only this time it was stronger, deeper reaching. She felt it lift her spirit above the cottage until she could see and feel it all. Carmen was not far down the road and should arrive in minutes. Norman and Meredith argued about the living arrangements in the kitchen. The children watched from the living room. Lisa looked up at her and smiled. Beside her and all around, she felt the infinite love of the Mother.

Child, your awakening is at hand. The Mother's whispered to her. Soon you will know what it truly meant to walk the path of the dragon.

Rachael smiled within herself, knowing without consciously knowing what the statement meant. It was the unconditional love she responded to as if she was a young child being given the courage to start something new.

"As our energies intertwine so we meet together in the spirit of the new guardian. We become part of her as she becomes one with us." The woman unfurled her arms shoulder high; her palms facing outward. "Let the ripples of our actions let it be known, the new guardian has been chosen." Slowly she lowered her arms. "Be blessed Child of Light. Welcome home." Suddenly she vanished.

Buy this book! I found myself smiling when I finished the last page of Awakening The Dragon-Book One of the Dragon Clan Trilogy (formally Dragon's New Home), by Theresa Chaze. I've read a pretty good number of However, the members of the House of Christ church had different ideas. The cottage was evil, the home of a witch, and all good Christians know that witches are evil beings, consorts of the Devil; their houses are evil and should be destroyed.

But, the cottage's owner, Kevin Mitchellson would not allow that. He forbids any member of the church to set foot on the property left to him by his grandmother, Sarah, and the conflict rages, as Wicca and Christians team up, prepared to do battle with the bigotry and ignorance of the House of Christ fanatics.

Therese Chaze draws her readers in from the first page and refuses to release them until the last word of this fantastic tale of witches, magic, love and betrayal.

Set in the village of Coyote Springs, Dragon Domain is a book of lessons; lessons on love, forgiveness, and above all truth to oneself.

In the grand traditions of Anne McCaffrey and Marion Zimmer Bradley, Therese Chaze captures the imagination as well as the heart of her readers.

Dragon Domain is an open door to a world of wonder, and from the first page to the last, you will be hard pressed to put it down.

Linda RuckerTheresa Chaze has been described as the woman who plays with dragons, especially the dragons of the mind. She leads her readers to magical realms and others worlds. Her work is based on her philosophy that all peoples can live together in peace as long as we come from respect, not only for ourselves but those who follow different paths or beliefs. Her work has been compared to Marion Zimmer Bradley and Anne McCaffrey with an adult version of Harry Potter mixed in.

APRENDER DE LA CONFERENCIAS DE VICENTE BELTR'aN ANGLADA ES PARTE DEL PROYECTO DE LA GRAN LOGIA BLANCA

[ CONDICIONAMIENTO, DESAPEGO Y LIBERTAD ]

POR VICENTE BELTR'aN ANGLADA

Me pregunto si hemos llegado a ESTE PUNTO ROTUNDO DE S'iNTESIS DENTRO DEL CORAZ`oN.

How To Get Started Casting Witchcraft Spells

How To Get Started Casting Witchcraft Spells
More people nowadays are looking to witchcraft spells to bring some order and peace into their lives. It is the power within yourself that acts as the intermediate in making a witchcraft spell really work for you. If you feel you want to use some of this inner mind power to bring a change into your life, then this article will help you.

You can do great, sometimes unbelievable things by casting spells. Spells are dynamic, they are enchanting, and if used correctly as part of a larger system, life-changing. So then, what is the first thing to know when you're learning to cast a spell? It's easy - you just need a spell and be ready to give it a good try!

Here is what you need to be looking for when picking the right spell that will work for you. If you stick to these guidelines your spell casting will improve considerably, you will notice it.

First, if you are just a beginner and starting out, go for the simpler ones. This is a skill like any other and you cannot expect to be a master any time soon. Go for the basics. Of course, the spell that you try must be exciting for you, otherwise it won't have that strong of an effect. But don't ever go beyond your capabilities as you will find out that you get no results, and that can be massively disappointing.

So I recommend you stick to the basics at first.

Second, do not expect fast results from only performing a spell once. Be ready to go back to the drawing board (so to speak) and give it another go. Perform your spell again and again whenever necessary, so you can start to feel its power growing within your subconscious and in your heart.

The very common misunderstanding is that the spell by itself for some reason has the power, but this is not so. The power does not come from the elements, this is impossible. The power comes from within you, from deep in your soul. The spell is intended to bring about change within yourself and that's where the leverage is.

So, to increase this internal power, you need to be working on growing it. And performing spells routinely will help you do just that. If you really begin to understand how a spell works and you begin to build a connection with in, tune into it, then you will start to see the spell work and give you results. But nothing won't happen before you have made the spell a part of yourself.

And last but not least, if you find that connecting with a spell really isn't working out much, then find a personal item which has sentimental value to you and keep it close to you. This helps you to tune in to the powers within you. It's especially helpful if this object generates emotions within you - that's what sets things in motion.

St Light Energy Creates Benevolent Fund

1St Light Energy Creates Benevolent Fund For Groups Looking To Convert To Solar
SOUTH PLAINFIELD, USA: 1st Light Energy, a leading provider of solar energy solutions in New Jersey, California, and Massachusetts, announced the creation of its Benevolent Solar Fund. This unique program enables municipalities and other nonprofit organizations to create substantial fundraising opportunities and save money on their electric bills while reducing their carbon footprint, without any upfront investment.

St. Benedict Catholic Church and school in Holmdel, N.J., is the first organization to take advantage of the program, with its installation completed in late February. It is part of the Catholic Diocese of Trenton, N.J. The school also has created a special Science Day to be held Monday, April 23 around the solar installation and usage so its 509 students from kindergarten to 8th grade can learn firsthand about solar energy.

As 1st Light Energy completed the project in record time, it was able to prevent St. Benedict from losing 100,000 in Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SREC) payouts.

Under the Benevolent Solar Fund program, participating organizations will receive a tax deductible contribution of 500 or 1,000 in the name of a qualified homeowner or business owner. Under the terms of a multi-year power purchase agreement, solar panels are installed at no cost as part of a lease arrangement.

In order to receive funds under the program, eligible organizations need to organize at least 30 homeowners to attend an educational session hosted by a 1st Light Energy representative. The sessions promote solar energy, its affordability and its benefits. Funds will be awarded upon installation of the system.

"In these difficult economic times, nonprofit organizations and agencies and municipalities in New Jersey can use all the help they can get," said Justin Krum, founder, president and CEO of 1st Light Energy. "Our new Benevolent Solar Fund is a real win-win for them. They get all the benefits of clean, affordable solar-generated electricity at no cost, plus a guarantee of system production and coverage for all maintenance."

At St. Benedict, 506 solar panels were installed in 11 groups behind the school; another 429 panels were placed on the roof of the school. Evergreens will be planted to screen the ground-mounted panels from view.

"Our power purchase agreement with 1st Light will not only reduce our electric costs by more than 30 percent right off the bat, it will effectively eliminate them over 15 years because of our share in the financial benefits of the program," said St. Benedict Parish Administrator Catherine Warshaw. "This program is a great way to achieve responsible stewardship of our parish resources, and is providing us with material for valuable scientific and environmental lessons for our students."

"Also, I have the highest regard for 1st Light Energy," Warshaw continued. "Because another company was unable to complete the job, we brought the 1st Light team on board in December 2011, and they had to finish the installation by February or we would have missed a significant payout from our SREC agreements. They worked through the coldest months of the year and truly saved the day for us and our parish. We will dedicate and bless the system on Sunday April 22nd at 2 p.m. as part of our Earth Day celebration. Our students will have a similar dedication the following day."

Whom Do You Call Psychics

Whom Do You Call Psychics

By Manoj Ram

All of us have a certain amount of extra-sensual powers. That sudden feeling that there is someone outside the door in spite of not having heard the bell, or that horrifying dream about your aunt's illness which somehow came true are all the silent work of that little extra-sensory capacities you and I both possess. Usually you brush them off as your sixth sense working over time, but what they actually are short glimpses of the subconscious potential you posses to mentally connect with events happening or about to happen around you.

Psychics are different from you and me, who usually ignore a correct guess as a lucky shot, simply in terms of their recognition of their capacities. A number of us are intuitive but very few among those actually take their talent seriously enough to further hone their skills and reach some sort of perfection. Psychics, whether trained or natural ones, recognize their skills and choose to nourish it till at some point they grow capable of attending to every single event occurring around them with far deeper concentration and focus than any regular person would. To put it simply, Psychics have a rare ability to pay attention to things as compared to 'regular' people.

A Little slice of History...

Psychic predictions and phenomena have been witnessed (though unknowingly) in various junctures of history. However, the very first 'professional' psychics emerged only in the 1840's with the Fox Family of Hydesville, New York. This family was, it was claimed, regularly 'visited' by spirits who were determined to prove that life continued beyond death.

Following the 'ghostly' visitations the 2 daughters of the house discovered their inherent capacity to communicate with people from the 'other world' and therefore went on to showcase their talent at various locations.

Their popularity immediately caused a dozen such groups to spring up almost overnight and thus began what was later termed as the 'Spiritualist Movement'.

Early Psychics usually took the help of various fantastic 'acts' as a part of their reading. Sudden materialization, table tipping etc. were all common place enough. Today however, Mediums and Psychics rely mainly on their own mental force in order to receive and relay information to those who seek it.

How do they work?

Each of us have what is termed amongst Psychics and Mediums as the Spirit guide, a sort of Guardian Angel'ish figure. This Spirit Guide plays a very important role in the Psychics attempt to obtain information and build some sort of a connection. Your Spirit Guide allows any Psychic trying to access your life into areas, which you would want him/her to go to, and thus protects you from any sort of undue or unwanted invasion.

Your spirit guide guides the Psychics spirit guide through information regarding you allowing her to see certain facts of your life, which may be, or may not be, bothering you in some way. This 'metaphysical' connection is what allows the Psychic to know about you in ways, which you would not expect him/her to. Thus the mental Powers of a Psychic is what exactly sets them apart from us. A deliberation of powers and specially a capacity to control and maneuver their thought process in order to access someone else is also an unique capacity.

Can you be a Psychic?

As mentioned earlier, all of us have Psychic potential, however most of us do not tap into it. It's true that some Psychics are born with a special gift but just like every brilliant musician isn't a prodigy like Mozart or every fine artist is not a Picasso many Psychics are 'non-natural' or trained. Yes, Psychic abilities can be acquired through hard work and perseverance, provided you posses a certain amount of sensitivity and kindness of course. They also need to be thoroughly responsible since the sort of knowledge and truth they have access too can easily become a burden for most.

Occasionally some tragic event, like say the death of a loved one etc. can shock people enough to open up a whole new psychic realm for them, marking their new journey as a Psychic.

Indiana Joins Push To Allow Public Body Prayers

Indiana Joins Push To Allow Public Body Prayers

From Indiana-

Indiana is one of 22 states hoping the U.S. Supreme Court will allow prayers that endorse a specific religion before public government meetings.

The Indiana attorney general's office last week signed onto a friend-of-the-court brief asking the U.S. Supreme Court to exempt public bodies from screening opening prayers for sectarian references.

The high court's justices said in May they would review a federal appeals court ruling that found upstate New York town of Greece, a Rochester suburb, had violated the Constitution by opening nearly every meeting over an 11-year span with prayers that stressed Christianity.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Greece should have made a greater effort to invite people from other faiths to open its monthly board meetings. Two residents who are not Christian complained that they felt marginalized by the steady stream of Christian prayers and challenged the practice.

The Supreme Court has previously ruled that prayer that doesn't endorse a particular religion is acceptable at public meetings. But Indiana and 21 other states want the justices to hold that sectarian prayer is also constitutional.

MODELS OF MAGIC

by
Frater U.'.D.'. (Germany)

In the course of exploring the possibilities of new, more
efficient techniques of magic I was struck by the fact that a
structuralist view of the history of magic to date might prove
helpful. After all, magicians have always aspired to restate the
theory and practice of magic in the language of their times i.e.
in different models pertaining to current world views.

There is, however, some risk involved in such an approach:
models do not really explain anything, they are only
illustrations of processes, albeit rather useful ones. What's
more, over-systematization tends to obfuscate more than it
clarifies and one should not mistake the map for the landscape
anyway, a fallacy a great many kabbalists seem to be prone to.

Thus, the following five (or rather: four plus one) models
of magic should be seen as a means of understanding the practical
possibilities of various magical systems rather than as
definitive theories and/or explanations of the way magic works.
It has proved effective in practice to view magic under the
following categories:

THE SPIRIT MODEL

THE ENERGY MODEL

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL MODEL

THE INFORMATION MODEL
THE META-MODEL

THE SPIRIT MODEL

This is purportedly the oldest model of magic though it may very
well have come into existence after or simultaneously with the
energy model. We can find it worldwide in shamanic cultures as
well as in many religions. Its basic premise is the existence of
an otherworld inhabited by more or less autonomous entities such
as spirits, angels, demons, gods etc. The shaman or magician is
someone who can enter this otherworld at will, who has travelled
widely in it, knows its language and customs and has made
friends, smitten enemies and/or acquired allies and servitors
there. This is important as all magic is of these entities'
making. The modern German word for witch, "Hexe" (f.) illustrates
this rather neatly if we take a closer look at its etymology. It
derives from Old High German "hagazussa" which translates as
"fence rider". The hagazussa is riding the "fence between the
worlds
" i.e. she is at home in the world of everyday life as well
as in the magical otherworld of spirits.

In the spirit model magic is seen as being effected by these
entities who are usually invisible, at least to the average
punter, and it is the shaman's or magician's task to make them
put his will into effect. This may be done by prayer, by barter,
by cajoling or even - vide medieval demon magic - by the
application of magical force, threats and pressure.

The otherworld may have its own geography but it is usually
considered to coexist with the world of everyday life. The key to
entering it is an altered state of consciousness, controlled
trance or ecstasy of which the shaman is an expert.

The spirit model has prevailed in traditionalist or Dogmatic
magic until today, some of its most noted exponents being Franz
Bardon and, at least to a great extent, Aleister Crowley.

THE ENERGY MODEL

The rise of the energy model in the West is marked primarily by
the appearance of Mesmerism towards the end of the 18th century.
Anton Mesmer, who was not an occultist but who was on the other
hand regarded by his contemporaries to be a "miracle worker" of
sorts, rediscovered amongst other things the ancient healing
disciplines of hypnosis and magnetism. He popularized his theory
of "animal magnetism" which he saw as a subtle force inherent in
organisms, but he also made heavy use of metal magnets for
healing purposes.

While the French Revolution put a temporary end to Mesmer's
movement, his ideas were not lost. They were taken up by a number
of others, primarily occultists, who drew on them while
developing their own theories of magic. One of the first to do so
was Bulwer Lytton of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA),
who postulated the existence of a subtle energy which he termed
Vril, possibly deriving from Latin virilitas or "force, power,
strength
". (This was actually the model for the naming of Bovril,
from Latin "bovis" or "ox", and Vril or "life force".
) We can
observe interesting parallels to this concept in the vitalist
theories of biology which emerged around the same time. Other
exponents of the energy model of magic (not then so termed) were
Reichenbach with his concept of Od, Eliphas Levi and his Astral
Light and Mme. Blavatsky, who adopted the theories of Prana from
Yoga physiology. This was also the time when anthropology and
ethnology discovered the Polynesian concept of Mana and Asiatic
scholars began to concern themselves with the Chinese principle
of Ki or Ch'i (Chi). The latter two go to show, of course, that
the idea of subtle energies utilized by magic is far older than
the 18th century. In fact, we can observe it already in early
shamanic cultures. Shamanic magic is very frequently a mixture
between spirit and energy model, e.g. the shaman may call upon
his spirits or gods to give him "power" or he may, vice versa,
use his power to extort favours from them.

In its pure form, however, the shaman or magician is not in
need of spirits and other entities. The world is viewed as being
"vitalized" by subtle forces or energies and his primary task
consists in mastering the art of perceiving and manipulating
them. As all phenomena are basically energetic in nature, the
existence of an otherworld is not strictly required. Thus, the
magician is more of an "energy dancer" than a "fence rider" or
go-between. But even here the key to the perception, charging and
general utilization of these forces is again the magical trance
or, as Chaos Magic terms it, gnosis.

Theories and practices pertaining to the energy model can be
found with many magical authors but it has seen its real, large
scale popularity only since the seventies of our century when the
general influx of Eastern thinking (pace the Hippie movement)
made concepts such as chakra and kundalini work a mainstay of
most occult disciplines. Strong energy model elements can also be
found in Franz Bardon's system of "electromagnetic fluids",
"condensators" etc.

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL MODEL

Sigmund Freud's theory of the subconscious revolutionized Western
thinking in general and psychology (which he did not, as some
people are wont to believe, invent all by himself
) in particular.
Suddenly, man was seen as a being which was only partially
conscious and in control of itself. While psychology is still
fighting for its academical recognition as a science, it has
stamped its mark on therapeutic disciplines - and on magic.

The psychological model of magic does not purport to explain
how magic works, its only premise is that the subconscious (or,
as Carl Jung later retagged it, the unconscious
) will do the job
if it is properly addressed and/or conditioned. This again is
achieved by magical trance, suggestion and the use of symbols
(i.e. selective sensory input) as tools of association and as a
means of communication between the magician's conscious will and
his subconscious faculty responsible for putting it into effect.

Aleister Crowley dabbled a great deal in the psychological
model which comes as no surprise as he not only tried to keep up
with all major academic disciplines of his time but thought
himself to be the world's greatest psychologist into the bargain.
But all considered he remained a traditionalist exponent of the
spirit model: after all Aiwass was, in his belief, a
praeternatural entity. Nevertheless he did have a knack of
explaining magic in psychological terms to make it sound sensible
to the sceptics of his time.

A more radical approach was taken by Austin Osman Spare
whose sigil magic rests on the basic tenets of the psychological
model. Spare's brilliant system is in principle an inversion of
Freud's theory of complexes: by actively suppressing his will in
the form of a graphical sigil and forgetting it, the magician
creates an artificial "complex" which then starts to work on
similar lines just as suppressed, subconscious traumas will cause
neurotic behaviour etc.

The psychological magician is a programmer of symbols and
different states of consciousness. He is not necessarily in need
of a transcendent otherworld or even subtle energies, though in
practice he will usually work on the assumption that one or the
other (or both) do in fact exist and can be utilized by his
subconscious.

Authors such as Israel Regardie, Dion Fortune, William
Butler, Francis King, William Gray and to some extent Pete
Carroll
the Einsteinian spacetime continuum. It can therefore be
transmitted or tapped at all times and at all places. In
analogy (but of course only as such!) it may be likened
to quantum phenomena rather than relativistic
mass-energy. It can, however, attach itself to a medium
e.g. an organism or any other memory storage device.

At the start of the theoretical debate it was still believed that
the postulation of morphic (or, more precisely, morphogenetic)
fields as hypothesized by Rupert Sheldrake had to be an essential
factor by way of explaining the mode of actual information
transmittance. This, however, while still being discussed, does
not appear to be strictly prerogative though it cannot be not
ruled out that an act of information magic may create such
fields. It does seem more probable, though, that the concept of
information matrices will prove to be the most promising theory
in the long run.

The application of the as yet evolving information model has
led to the discipline I have termed Cybermagic (from
"cybernetics" or the "science of control systems"
). Contrary to
the other models described above, Cybermagic does not rely on
magical trance to achieve its effects. Rather, the Cybermagician
activates either his own main memory banks, namely brain and
spine (the Golf-club chakra, so-called because of its shape
reminiscent of a golf-club
) or those of the target person. The
desired information is then called up and transmitted quite
similarly to a copy command on an MS-DOS computer. The copy
command analogy holds good insofar as the information (not having
mass
) is not actually "lost" in the process (as energy would be)
but rather is duplicated. This is an important point as it allows
for the magician to perform his magic even in a state of very low
physical power, possibly even when almost completely intoxicated,
as long as his basic "life support systems" are still functional
and the command syntax is employed correctly.

It is, however, obvious that this technique demands a fair
control of what used to be termed kundalini effects and practice
has shown ever and again that a good amount of Yoga and
meditation experience is a great help in achieving to Cybermagic.

Unfortunately, the full theory and practice of Cybermagic
cannot be described here due to lack of space and will thus have
to be the subject of a separate article to be published later. To
date the main experimental research work is being done within the
Magical Pact of the Illuminates of Thanateros (IOT) and some
quite astounding results have already been achieved, especially
in the field of language and knowledge transfer as well as
magical healing.

In spite of its very modern, untraditionalist outlook the
basic principles of Cybermagic may in truth well be the oldest
form of magic extant. For we can, for example, find a number of
reports in the East to the effect of a guru transferring all his
knowledge to his successor before his death, which is usually
achieved by an act of long, mutual meditation.

This goes to show that magic as a whole has always existed
in many, coexisting models. What has changed, however, is the
stress laid on one model or the other in the course of time.

THE META-MODEL

The meta-model of magic is not a model as such but rather an
instruction on the use of the others. For its only advice to the
magician is: "Always use the model most adequate to your aims."
This may sound a bit trite but we will see that it is not quite
as selfevident amongst magicians as one might expect. It is
rooted in Chaos magic's assertion "Nothing is true. Everything is
permitted
", which ultimately boils down to pragmatic
utilitarianism. Before this aspect is enlarged upon, though, let
us look at an example of the models presented here as applied in
practice.

We shall take the situation of magical healing to demonstrate how
these models differ from each other.

In the spirit model healing is regarded as an exorcism: illness
is caused by "evil" or, at least, undesired entities which have
to be neutralized and removed by the shaman or magician. In the
case of a patient with a heart condition the shaman may, for
example, "see" a green lizard in the vicinity of the heart which
must be removed. To achieve this the shaman will usually call
upon the help of his own spirits who will then handle the matter.
Properly exorcised, the patient has been freed from the cause of
his ailment and can recuperate.

In the energy model ailments are seen to be caused by energetic
imbalance. Thus, our heart patient may have too much (or too
little
) "fire energy" in his heart chakra, and the magician's
task consists of restoring that balance of energies commonly
defined as "health". This he may do by laying on hands, by using
crystals and precious stones, by magnetism or chakra massage etc.
The balance having been restored, the patient is regarded as
having been healed.

In the psychological model illness is considered to be basically
psychosomatic in nature. The magician will, therefore, either do
a ritual work with the patient which enhances his stamina and
resolves his troubles (e.g. a Saturn ritual to cope with
"Saturnian challenges" the patient is seen to have avoided by
becoming ill
) or he will charge a sigil for the patient's health.
Preferably he will instruct the patient to construct and charge
his own sigil.

In the information model the Cybermagician will transmit an
informational "healing matrix" into the patient's system (or
somehow create a "morphic field" of health and self-healing
) and
let the patient's energies take it from there to do the job of
their own accord i.e. automatically. This rests on the assumption
that the energies are still powerful enough to get the work done,
otherwise he will either jump back into the energy model to
provide the patient with the additional energies required or
install another information matrix to create an influx of the
power desired.

Following the meta-model the magician will decide beforehand in
which paradigm he will begin his operation. This must not
necessarily exclude the possibility of shifting the paradigms in
midwork or of blending them, of course. Usually, the decision is
taken on the lines of expediency, efficiency and personal
preference. Thus, I personally find healing work with patients
easier within the spirit or energy model, while I do seem to get
better results with selfhealing employing either the
psychological or the information model. Then again, cybermagical
work tends to take up to two days to show noticeable effects so
that it may be more expedient to go for laying on hands when pain
is very acute.

Another important point is the time factor. While traditionalist
rituals in the spirit model may take from half a day to weeks and
even months, operations in the energy model seldomly take much
longer than a few hours at the most. If we take Spare's sigil
magic as an example for a very fast technique within the
psychological model, the operation can be over and done with
within five to ten minutes. Information magical operations on the
other hand only take up about three quarters of a second, a time
span which can be cut even shorter by an experienced
Cybermagician.

Self evident as the meta-model may seem, in practice many people
seem to feel somewhat uncomfortable with its inherent relativism.
This is very much the case with beginners in magic. A typical
dialogue on the subject might run on the following lines:

"Are there spirits?"

"In the spirit model, yes."

"And in the energy model?"

"In the energy model there are subtle energy forms."

"And what about the psychological model?"

"Well, in the psychological model we are dealing with
projections of the subconscious."

"What happens in the information model, then?"

"In the information model there are information
clusters."

"Yes, but are there spirits now or not?"

"In the spirit model, yes."

This logical loop is, of course, usually experienced as a pretty
frustrating exercise; but while the asker claims that the
magician is trying to avoid the issue he is at the same time
overlooking the fact that he himself is basically only restating
the old yen for absolute, "objective" truths - not really a
quantum magical approach, to say the least. However, the aspiring
cyberpunk magician of today cannot expect to be spared the pains
of coming to terms with the notion that freedom and dogma are
mutually exclusive.

Beware Of False Teachers

Africagardenshotel Sol
God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. But Satan is a vigilant, unsleeping foe, ever at work upon human minds, seeking a soil in which he can sow his tares. If he finds any whom he can press into his service, he will suggest ideas and false theories, and make them zealous in advocating error. The truth not only converts, but works the purification of its receiver. Jesus has warned us to beware of false teachers. From the beginning of our work, men have arisen from time to time, advocating theories that were new and startling. But if those who claim to believe the truth would go to those who have had experience, would go to the word of God in a teachable, humble spirit, and examine their theories in the light of truth and with the aid of the brethren who have been diligent Bible students, and at the same time make supplication unto God, asking, Is this the way of the Lord, or is it a false path in which Satan would lead me? they would receive light, and would escape out of the net of the fowler.

Let all our brethren and sisters beware of anyone who would set a time for the Lord to fulfill His word in regard to His coming, or in regard to any other promise He has made of special significance. "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His own power." False teachers may appear to be very zealous for the work of God, and may expend means to bring their theories before the world and the church; but as they mingle error with truth, their message is one of deception, and will lead souls into false paths. They are to be met and opposed, not because they are bad men, but because they are teachers of falsehood and are endeavoring to put upon falsehood the stamp of truth.

What a pity it is that men will go to such pains to discover some theory of error when there is a whole storehouse of precious gems of truth by which the people might be enriched in the most holy faith. Instead of teaching truth they let their imagination dwell upon that which is new and strange, and throw themselves out of harmony with those whom God is using to bring the people up upon the platform of truth. They cast aside all that has been said in regard to unity of sentiment and feeling, and trample upon the prayer of Christ as though the unity for which He prayed were unessential, and there were no necessity for His followers to be one, even as He is one with the Father. They go off on a tangent, and, Jehulike, call to their brethren to follow their example of zeal for the Lord.

If their zeal led them to work in the same lines in which their brethren who have carried the heat and burden of the day are working, if they were as persevering to overcome discouragements and obstacles as their brethren have been, they might well be imitated, and God would accept them. But men are to be condemned who start out with a proclamation of wonderful light, and yet draw away from the agents whom God is leading. This was the way in which Korah, Dathan, and Abiram did, and their action is recorded as a warning to all others. We are not to do as they have done-accuse and condemn those upon whom God has laid the burden of the work.

Those who have proclaimed the Seventh-day Adventist Church as Babylon, have made use of the "Testimonies "in giving their position a seeming support; but why is it that they did not present that which for years has been the burden of my message-the unity of the church? Why did they not quote the words of the angel, "Press together, press together, press together"? Why did they not repeat the admonition and state the principle, that "in union there is strength, in division there is weakness"? It is such messages as these men have borne that divide the church, and put us to shame before the enemies of truth; and in such messages is plainly revealed the specious working of the great deceiver, who would hinder the church from attaining unto perfection in unity. These teachers follow the sparks of their own kindling, move according to their own independent judgment, and cumber the truth with false notions and theories. They refuse the counsel of their brethren, and press on in their own way until they become just what Satan would desire to have them-unbalanced in mind.

I warn my brethren to guard against the working of Satan in every form. The great adversary of God and man is exulting today that he has succeeded in deceiving souls, and in diverting their means and ability into harmful channels. Their money might have been used to advance present truth, but instead of this it has been expended in presenting notions that have no foundation in truth.

All Is Calm By Theater Latte

All Is Calm By Theater Latte Da At The Pantages Theatre
"I've seen six Christmas-themed theater productions in the last month and a half, and Theater Latte Da's annual holiday production All is Calm"* comes closest to what I think is and should be the spirit of this midwinter holiday season: a celebration of our shared humanity, that transcends any perceived difference of nationality, ethnicity, religion, class, or political belief. "All is Calm" tells the true story of the WWI Christmas day truce, through songs and soldiers' own words. If these soldiers who were sent to kill each other could put aside their differences, share in each other's joy, and make peace for one day, it gives me hope that a larger peace is possible. This quote that arrived in my inbox today seems most appropriate: "If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man's life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility" (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow).

Now in it's 5th year, "All is Calm" was created by Latte Da's Artistic Director Peter Rothstein and the nine-man vocal ensemble Cantus. It begins with a few traditional Christmas carols, sung in stunning harmonies. Then the theater part of the piece begins as the actors (Matt Rein, David Roberts, and Alan Sorenson) come onstage and being speaking the words of witnesses to the event, taken from letters, journals, and other historical sources from that day in 1914. Songs and words are seamlessly woven together in one cohesive piece that continues without intermission or interruption throughout the arc of the story. We begin with "The Optimistic Departure," when young men across Europe were excited to go on an adventure they were sure would be over soon. Then comes "The Grim Reality" as the difficulties and death of battle set in. The high point is the quiet celebration of "Christmas" and the blessed "Truce," as the fighting stops and men from both sides enter "no man's land" to share stories and play games. Finally, in "The Return to Battle," the war continues as if the truce never happened, and in fact it was never repeated in such a large scale, as the war continued for another long four years.

"

the cast of All is Calm
" with the men of Cantus

"All is Calm" is a perfect example of what Theater Latte Da does best - weave together music and theater in an interesting and innovate way to tell a story. It's what Peter calls "intelligent musical theater," which is my favorite thing in the world. His creation is beautifully brought to life by this talented combination of actors and musicians. The three actors really embody the different men whose words are spoken, in a variety of accents. The men of Cantus, who have come from all over the country to sing together, not only sound gorgeous, but they're pretty good actors too as they become the soldiers in their joy and grief. This is truly a beautiful, moving, transfixing experience. Because of the seamlessness of the piece there is no room for applause. The audience was holding it in, which is perhaps why there was an almost immediate and deserving standing ovation as soon as the music ceased.

"All is Calm" is playing now through Saturday at Hennepin Theatre Trust's beautifully restored Pantages Theatre. If you go, be sure to check out the WWI exhibit upstairs, on loan from the Minnesota Military Museum in Little Falls. This is the second time I've seen this show, and it's one that only gets better with repeated viewing. This is my last theater experience of over 100 that I've had this year (look for my 2012 favorites to be posted around New Year's), and I can't think of a better way to end this amazing year of theater.**

ON THIS DAY IN MEXICO, THE ANNUAL "OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE" RELIGIOUS FESTIVAL TAKES PLACE. IT IS A SACRED DAY TO THE GODDESSES "COATLIQUE, TONANTZIN ", AND THE "BLACK MADONNA. "TONANTZIN" (MOTHER) WAS AN ANCIENT MOTHER GODDESS, A PATRONESS OF MIDWIVES AND HEALING; SHE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MOON AND REPRESENTED FEMALE POWER. SHE WAS A GIVER AND TAKER OF LIFE. SHE IS BELIEVED TO BE THE MANIFESTATION OF THE EARTH MOTHER, "COATLIQUE". "TONANTZIN" WAS ONE OF THE PRINCIPAL HOUSEHOLD DEITIES THAT WAS WORSHIPPED IN MESOAMERICA, AND THE AZTECS TRAVELED TO "TEPEYAC HILL" TO VISIT HER SHRINE AND PRAY FOR CURES. THIS WAS HER MOST IMPORTANT TEMPLE AND WAS BELIEVED TO BE THE PLACE WHERE SHE CAME DOWN DANCING WITH THE MOON. HUMAN SACRIFICE AND HARSH PHYSICAL PENANCE WERE USED TO APPEASE THIS GODDESS.

WHEN CORTES AND HIS SOLDIERS CONQUERED TENOCHITLAN, THE CAPITAL CITY OF THE MEXICA, ONE OF THE TEMPLES DESTROYED WAS THAT OF THE GODDESS "TONANTZIN" WHICH WAS LOCATED ON "TEPEYAC HILL". THE FIRST ARCHBISHOP, JUAN DE ZUM'aRRAGA, ARRIVED IN 1531, AND WAS CONFRONTED WITH ALL THE COLONY'S EXPLOITATION AND ABUSE OF THE INDIANS. IT WAS THEN THAT A MEXICA NOBLE, JUAN DIEGO, WANDERED UP THE HILL WHICH HAD BEEN FORMERLY SACRED TO "TONANTZIN" AND HAD AN APPARITION OF A DARK-SKINNED, NATIVE LOOKING DIVINITY WHO INTRODUCED HERSELF AS THE "VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE.

WHEN JUAN PRESENTED THIS TO THE BISHOP, HE DEMANDED PROOF; HENCE, JUAN DIEGO RETURNED TO THE VIRGIN ("WHOM ONLY HE COULD SEE, BY THE WAY"), WHO WHO TOLD HIM THAT HE SHOULD GO GATHER ROSES ON THE HILLSIDE EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS NEITHER THE TIME NOR THE PLACE FOR ROSES. JUAN CARRIED THE ROSES BACK TO THE BISHOP OBSCURED IN HIS TUNIC, AND WHEN HE ALLOWED THEM TO DROP ON THE GROUND, HE WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE BISHOP AND RETAINERS KNEELING BEFORE HIM...FOR A PICTURE OF THE "VIRGIN," COMPLETE WITH APOCALYPTIC IMAGERY-SUN, CRESCENT MOON, AND STAR-WAS PAINTED ON HIS CLOTHES.

TODAY THE "BASILICA DE GUADALUPE" IS THE PRINCIPAL SHRINE TO THE "VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE" AND STANDS AT THE EXACT SPOT WHERE THE PYRAMID OF "TONANTZIN" ONCE STOOD. IT IS GENERALLY BELIEVED THAT THE "VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE" AND "TONANTZIN" ARE ONE IN THE SAME AND THAT THIS IS ONE OF MANY EXAMPLES OF HOW ANCIENT INDIAN BELIEFS HAVE BECOME FUSED INTO THE UNIQUE SPIRITUAL REALITY OF "MODERN" MEXICANS. THE "VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE" IS IMPORTANT TO THE MEXICANS BECAUSE SHE IS THEIR SUPERNATURAL MOTHER AND BECAUSE SHE REPRESENTS THEIR MAJOR POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS ASPIRATIONS FOR THE SPANISH CONQUEST REPRESENTED NOT ONLY THEIR MILITARY DEFEAT AND THE DESTRUCTION OF THEIR CULTURE, BUT ALSO THE DEFEAT OF THE OLD GODS AND THE DECLINE OF THE OLD RITUAL. BUT, IT IS SAID THAT TONANTZIN WILL FOREVER LIVE ON AT TEPEYAC IN HER NEW INCARNATION, AS IT WERE, AS THE "VIRGIN OF GUADALUPE". THE OLD BELIEFS HERE HAVE NEVER REALLY DIED, BUT CONTINUE TO HAVE NEW LIFE BREATHED INTO THEM BY EACH NEW GENERATION OF BELIEVERS WHO GROW UP IN THIS CULTURE. IN TURN, THE SPIRITUAL ENTITIES, THE SAINTS AS REINCARNATIONS OF THE MORE ANCIENT GODS, BREATHE THEIR LIFE INTO THE BELIEVERS...THUS, PERPETUATING A LIVING TRADITION WHICH GOES BACK TO THE BEGINNING OF TIME ITSELF.

To Gain Control Over A Situation

To Gain Control Over A Situation

ITEMS NEEDED:

* Purple (VOTIVE) candle

* Pen and paper

* Vegetable oil

* Fireproof dish

* Cayenne pepper

Inscribe the candle with your name, then draw the infinity symbol (A HORIZONTAL FIGURE 8), both above and below your name. Anoint the candle with vegetable oil and roll it in cayenne pepper. (If you hold the candle by the wick, you can avoid getting oil and cayenne pepper all over your fingers.)

Write a brief description of the situation on the paper and place it under the candle holder. Light the candle and say:

"Wax and herb, now bring me power

That grows with every passing hour.

Bring control back unto me.

As I will, so mote it be!

Let the candle completely burn down, then burn the paper in the fireproof dish. Flush the ashes down the toilet, or bury them under a tree.

Coconut

Coconut
Coconuts are the drupe or fruit of the Coconut Palm tree. In hoodoo/rootwork/conjure, coconuts are used in domination work and in work where the practitioner wishes to influence or control the mind of the person being worked on. Whole coconuts are used in these works as they represent the head of the target person.

Coconut oil also has domination properties and is excellent to use as a base for domination-type condition oils.

Unfortunately about ten years or so ago I noticed that most grocery stores were selling smaller and smaller coconuts. These smaller coconuts are usually light tan and do not possess much, if any, coconut hair. I was recently at a grocery store and the coconuts offered for sale were literally the size of a softball. I'm not sure what is going on but this trend is upsetting to me. I much prefer the larger coconuts, the ones covered in coconut hair, as they more aptly resemble a human head in size and characteristics.

Note: When workers use coconuts in their practice they are not working with Papa Legba, Eshu, Ellegua, or with any other Loa, Orisha, or spirit from any African Traditional Religion. Instead, the coconut is used to represent the head and mind of the person being worked on.
