All times/dates are PDT.
So if we shouldn't start anything important until July 28, what can we do? Well, this time favors investigation, research, nostalgia, going over plans to find flaws, re-examining anything, reprising the past, contacting old friends, reunions, etc.
A few readers have written, freaked by my "reminder" that August shows a bear market indicator (Mars opposite Uranus). The bear should start within four months, if I remember financial astrologer Arch Crawford's missives correctly. Economically though (in my view) we'll go the other way, and might actually improve into 2008. But October 2009 through 2011 brings economic meltdowns similar to 2001/02. The NYSE might soar in 2010, then crash in 2011, as geopolitical tensions erupt on a massive scale.
CAPRICORN, let's look at your 18 months ahead. During this past 18 months, your "karmic focus" made career difficult, but blessed home/security areas. Now to December 2007, this karmic axis switches to intellectual, travel, and communications zones. At times, distinguishing between good and bad, between productive paths and long, involved, subtle dead-ends, will require some astute assessments - not only of a situation, but of your own motives. Here's a big clue: you'll find smooth, easy action in short trips, daily communications (emails, phone calls, etc.) paperwork, details, errands, reports, newspapers, magazines, night school or short courses, and dealing with facts, figures, anecdotal evidence and advertising placement or production. But you'll face barriers, dead-ends, subtle traps and temptation (without reward) in all the "long versions" of the above - international travel,
In the broadest way, Cap, 2007 will be a year of quiet reflection, an "ending." Complete obligations; contemplate where you're going in the two decades ahead. 2008 brings huge good luck - and kicks off 16 years of massive, irrevocable life changes. Your social circle will change; so will your life plans, and your source(s) of happiness. This change begins with an upward trajectory, with expansion, freedom and optimism in 2008. Some increased responsibilities will be attached. Get ready to see and grab opportunities!
Start Nothing: 6:33 p.m. to 8:44 p.m. Mon., 10:48 p.m. Wed. to 1:38 a.m. Thurs., and 8:17 a.m. to 8:28 a.m. Sat.
Aries March 21-April 19
It's a very mixed time, Aries. Domesticity, food/shelter, security concerns and physical sluggishness mingle with impatience and affection. Someone - more likely a relative than a lover - might have second thoughts, and try to win your affection after earlier rejecting/ignoring you. Saturday starts a month of romance, creativity, risk and adventure, but the first few days (July 22-24) offer rewards at home, not outside. Start nothing new; buy NO machinery. This is a week to simply sit back and enjoy, rest, luxuriate - and maybe travel a little (family reunion?) Thursday/Friday.
Taurus April 20-May 20
Domestic strife might flare Wednesday, but generally the friction of June/July is ebbing. Saturday begins a month of relative peace and joy in domestic matters. In the next thirty days, you'll either reconcile yourself to your domestic situation, especially in love, marriage and legal areas, or you'll take one more step toward ending a "legal bond." (This trend began July 2005 and lasts to September 2007.) In the weeks to come, you'll experience a streak of romantic intrigue, a bent toward secret adventure, or a creative or speculative surge.
Gemini May 21-June 20
Remain cautious - start nothing big, new or important before July 28. Until then, a former opportunity might return involving real estate, a monetary/income situation, or a sensual relationship. A "mothering" woman might be involved. Take care - this might or might not be an opportunity, especially if real estate is involved. If you have doubts, exit. Your money and income pictures improve Tuesday into August. You're happy and friendly Sunday/Monday, but ease into rest, contemplation Monday night through Wednesday. Your energy and charisma return Thursday, auguring a pleasant, lucky weekend!
Cancer June 21-July 22
Start no new relationships or projects before July 28. You might attract an old supporter - or an old detractor. Your charisma, already high this month, gains a new graceful, genial element Tuesday into August. Soon (Saturday onward) you'll be talking to higher-ups, parents and VIPs. The extra charm won't hurt! Be ambitious Sunday/Monday. Socialize, have fun Tuesday/Wednesday, but don't overspend, nor expect too much sexually. Retreat, lie low, rest and take care of old obligations (especially red tape ones) Thursday/Friday. Your energy surges back Saturday, to start a lucky weekend!
Leo July 23-Aug. 22
Old obligations come due, especially in red tape, governmental, management, warehousing, health, and institutional zones. Tackle these, rather than starting anything new. Don't work fast - double check facts, figures, application forms, get plenty of rest, and eat and dress sensibly. A former spiritual contact, a very friendly person, might re-enter your sphere. Wisdom and a mellow mood accompany you Sunday/Monday. Your skills and reliability are being observed Tuesday/Wednesday, so keep your nose to the grindstone. New and old hopes visit you Thursday/Friday - the old ones are the best ones!
Virgo Aug. 23-Sept. 22
A former social contact or group will welcome you back. Among these could lurk an old temptation, either of power or sex. You can avoid it/her/him, or confront it directly and solve an old puzzle or problem. You've been in "the sweet spot" with parents and higher-ups the last few weeks. By Tuesday this "sweet spot" transfer to your social life. Saturday brings seven weeks of determination, will power, and an increased drive toward sex, power, secret knowledge (research) and large finances. But start nothing big before July 28.
Libra Sept. 23-Oct. 22
Remember, start neither new projects nor relationships before July 28. (A new relationship, for example, would never attain a permanent partnership stage; a new project would turn in circles, never completing.) Remain aware, alert for mistakes, delays, and faulty schedules, especially in career and business zones. You've weathered some career pressures quite well over the past year or so - now, Tuesday into August, VIPs, parents and higher-ups will show their admiration or appreciation - you're accepted! Love's understanding arrives Thursday/Friday. Saturday begins seven weeks of "caution flags" in all relationships.
Scorpio Oct. 23-Nov. 21
An old flame might be around. This person is, all told, no better nor no worse than "present prospects." For the past two months, higher-ups have been on your case - temperamental, demanding, impatient - that ends Saturday, just in time for an important career month! (It begins the same day.) Your stock is about to go up with bosses and parents, judges and VIPs. (Meanwhile, don't lose your temper Wednesday p.m.) Legal matters are also starting to go your way (Tuesday into mid-August). Don't start major projects/ventures before July 28.
Sagittarius Nov. 22-Dec. 21
Start no major projects or ventures before July 28. For a month, you've enjoyed affectionate (or at least pleasant) responses from others, and exploration, relocation, or an adventurous mood has brought you to interesting places. Tuesday shunts this "mild luck" into deeper, perhaps more secret places: intimacy, large finances, research, occultism and "power corridors." (Your major luck, which isn't very major these days, resides for now in government connections, institutions, and charitable and spiritual areas.) So look ahead to anything from pleasing financial success to "sweet clinches." Happiness ahead! appiness
Capricorn Dec.22-Jan. 19
Opposition is fading. From Tuesday onward (into mid-August) others will treat you with increased affection, pleasantness, even love. You could meet a valuable "partner in ambition." But remember, start neither new relationships nor new projects before July 28. (Until then, a former flame or partner might wander in.) Saturday begins two important trends: a month of deeper involvements, secrets, high finance, investments, investigation, lifestyle changes and significant commitments, and seven weeks of legalities (or learning, or publishing or travel) involving one of these: real estate, family, security, retirement, or business territory.
Aquarius Jan. 20-Feb. 18
Start nothing new before July 28. Life, though, will be starting three new trends for you. (Wait, study new influences/situations until July 28, rather than react with only "half the information.") Tuesday begins a few weeks of pleasant, affectionate relations on the work scene. A bit later, Saturday starts a month of opportunities, relationships, public meetings and relocation themes (and of a choice for you, between co-operation and opposition). The same day kicks off a seven-week intensification of sexual urges, financial impulses, and a desire to change your life.
Pisces Feb. 19-March 20
An old flame might enter your life (or recently has). Your home, family, and "Mother Nature" have brought you deep, sweet periods of rest lately, or an affectionate interlude. Tuesday onward (into mid-August) this beauty and sweetness enters romantic, creative, and child-

EXODUS 30 (CHOSEN PAGES)
(EX 30, 22-32) IT SHALL BE TREATED AS SACRED BY YOU
[22] The LORD said to Moses, [23] "Take the finest spices: five hundred shekels of free-flowing myrrh; half that amount, that is, two hundred and fifty shekels, of fragrant cinnamon; two hundred and fifty shekels of fragrant cane; [24] five hundred shekels of cassia-all according to the standard of the sanctuary shekel; together with a hin of olive oil; [25] and blend them into sacred anointing oil, perfumed ointment expertly prepared. [26] With this sacred anointing oil you shall anoint the meeting tent and the ark of the commandments, [27] the table and all its appurtenances, the lampstand and its appurtenances, the altar of incense [28] and the altar of holocausts with all its appurtenances, and the laver with its base. [29] When you have consecrated them, they shall be most sacred; whatever touches them shall be sacred. [30] Aaron and his sons you shall also anoint and consecrate as my priests. [31] To the Israelites you shall say: As sacred anointing oil this shall belong to me throughout your generations. [32] It may not be used in any ordinary anointing of the body, nor may you make any other oil of a like mixture. It is sacred, and shall be treated as sacred by you. (CCC 695) "Anointing". The symbolism of anointing with oil also signifies the Holy Spirit (Cf. 1 Jn 2:20:27; 2 Cor 1:21), to the point of becoming a synonym for the Holy Spirit. In Christian initiation, anointing is the sacramental sign of Confirmation, called "chrismation" in the Churches of the East. Its full force can be grasped only in relation to the primary anointing accomplished by the Holy Spirit, that of Jesus. Christ (in Hebrew "messiah") means the one "anointed" by God's Spirit. There were several anointed ones of the Lord in the Old Covenant, pre-eminently King David (Cf. Ex 30:22-32; 1 Sam 16:13). But Jesus is God's Anointed in a unique way: the humanity the Son assumed was entirely anointed by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit established him as "Christ" (Cf. Lk 4: 18-19; Isa 61:1). The Virgin Mary conceived Christ by the Holy Spirit who, through the angel, proclaimed him the Christ at his birth, and prompted Simeon to come to the temple to see the Christ of the Lord (Cf. Lk 2:11, 26-27). The Spirit filled Christ and the power of the Spirit went out from him in his acts of healing and of saving (Cf. Lk 4:1; 6:19; 8:46). Finally, it was the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead (Cf. Rom 1:4; 8:11). Now, fully established as "Christ" in his humanity victorious over death, Jesus pours out the Holy Spirit abundantly until "the saints" constitute - in their union with the humanity of the Son of God - that perfect man "to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ" (Eph 4:13; cf. Acts 2:36): "the whole Christ," in St. Augustine's expression.

AUTHOR: Rae Carson
SYNOPSIS: Though chosen by God for an unknown task, Princess Elisa, heavy and awkward, has always lived in the shadow of her beautiful and capable older sister. When she's secretly married at sixteen to the handsome but hesitant king of a distant country, however, Elisa must face up to her destiny both as queen and as bearer of the Godstone. Before long, she's bringing the strength of her knowledge of the sacred texts and war to bear not only on King Alejandro's councils, but on the fate of a small revolutionary desert people, among whom is the one man who truly loves her.
NOTES: With the recent openness to unsoftened violence in young adult fiction "(The Hunger Games, Divergent)" and the popularity of no-character-is-safe authors like George R.R. Martin and Jodi Picoult on the bestseller lists-not to mention an overall focus on diversity of representation-the doors have been opened for Rae Carson, whose powerful debut refuses to conform to expectations on a number of levels.
Lucero-Elisa de Riqueza, princess of Orovalle, is no pretty, wiry YA heroine stuck choosing between two good-looking and possessive young men. She lives for two things: her studies of the "Scriptura Sancta" and the "Belleza Guerra", and food. We meet her as she's on her knees, about to be squeezed into a massive wedding dress, praying that her arranged-marriage bridegroom will be ugly enough to love her. The only thing she feels is attractive or special about her is the living stone God installed at her navel by means of a beam of light on her naming day, but anything relating to the meaning of that, or what God's will for her might be, is carefully kept from her.
As most of those difficulties-excepting the Godstone-are far more common in reality than fiction, it's to Carson's credit not only that Elisa is what she is, but that her struggles are carefully described and deeply sympathetic. Elisa's early passive weakness and self-disgust could make her uninteresting; instead, they serve to interest the reader and set up a strong trajectory for growth.
Elisa's culture and religion are as surprising as the character herself. Carson, rather than mining cultures foreign to the modern West or developing entirely in fantastical directions, unashamedly adapted Spanish high-church Christianity minus the obvious figure of Christ. The rose-elevated over an altar as part of the main sacrament-is a not-so-subtle stand-in, perhaps. Quotes from the "Scriptura Sancta" strongly resemble verses of Scripture, such as "Wherever five are gathered, there am I in their midst" (cf. Matthew 18:20: "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them", KJV). The Lengua Classica (plain Spanish, though not called so by name) and the Lengua Plebeya are flatly reminiscent of Catholicism's use of Latin and vernacular, and the reference to Orovalle's "Via Reformas" is an equally blunt parallel.
The religion is wholly fantasy, of course, despite the open basis in Christianity. The Christian faith claims a lot of wild and weird miracles, but nothing quite resembling the placement of a Godstone in the navel of a newborn child every hundred years. There are also little twists that would subtly distort the teachings of Christianity if Carson's work were meant to be a faithful representation. The fixing of the sacred number at five, as noted above, is one such. That said, the religion is portrayed sympathetically, which is always a delight to find.
It should be noted, of course, that Carson's use of Christian imagery doesn't make her a Christian. In fact, according to herself on Twitter, she's an atheist. Which might also explain the lack-unless I missed something-of religious themes on the symbolic level, as well as the phrasing of some "faith in myself" lines at the end. It'll be interesting to see where she takes the next two The book is well written and engaging, and I enjoyed it despite my growing dislike of present tense narrative. The portrayal of religion intrigued me, and Elisa is an appealing heroine, one I felt a lot of affection for. To add to the interest, the desert-heat atmosphere, the systematic breaking down and reforming of Elisa's character, and the emphasis on the number five leave me suspecting that Carson may have plotted her trilogy alchemically. I expect to read "A Crown of Embers" when it comes out.
RECOMMENDATION: Read it for an intriguing fantasy tale of a seemingly unlikely heroine, a girl with great weaknesses but greater inner strength.

The 13 ghost points are part of an obscure and esoteric tradition in Chinese medicine. They were developed in the 6th Century by a doctor called Sun Si Miao to address disturbances that were attributed to demonic possession. Disorders such as seizures, mania, confusion and nightmares were thought to have a spiritual origin and therefore required a spiritual solution. The 13 ghost points were said to transcend time and space and and help a soul find their place in the cosmos.
These days we have modern herbal formulas and acupuncture point prescriptions for both neurological and psychological problems and so the ghost points have fallen out of fashion. They're not often mentioned in text However the interesting thing about the ghost points is that even if you don't believe they're exorcizing ghosts they do seem to have a calming effect. All the points have applications that affect a patient's emotional and psychological welfare and when used together they create a sense of peace and centeredness. I was once told by one of my teachers that the idea behind the ghost points was to use that feeling of connection and tranquility to connect the patient to whatever anchors them and soothes their spirit. So for a Taoist the points can be used to connect the patient to the Tao and for a Christian the points can be used to help them feel closer to God.
So for me the efficacy of the ghost points lies, not outside the patient in the spirit world, but inside their body as they relax and find the space to process their feelings and become centered.
They may be considered ghostly but these points have little to do with Halloween and everything to do with healing the spirit in it's broadest sense.

This message is more for many of the old souls upon earth, but can be useful for some of the new ones as well.
When we speak about the fact that you have completed your purpose, we speak about the fact that you have spent lifetime after lifetime, learning and experiencing upon earth, as the earth took care of you and in your way you took care of the earth.
It is time to let the young souls have their space upon earth, to have their time upon earth, as some of you will still be there to guide them but in a different form.
The earth was meant to be a physical learning experience, but was never required to be this long of a human physical experience.
It was meant to be a place where you would move up and back from a full source being into a human experience, still being able to access your full source being.
You have all drifted far away from this and now it is time for many of you to go back to this.
Yet many of you have no understanding, no human understanding we should say as many of your spiritual parts know this really well and have tried to guide you back to this form of existing upon earth.
You have been cut off from many of these parts of you and at this moment many of you are still cut off from these parts of you.
Experiences within the dimensional realities are not full experiences, many see them as full as it is something they have not experienced before.
The fact remains that many of you still have no understanding of the purpose of life upon earth, you are so entrenched within the physical experience that you do not see what is right before your eyes.
The shift you have just gone through is another chance to return the earth and all upon her to their original purpose.
Seemingly unnoticed by many however you are all still stuck within the old belief systems where there is no escape from the physical reality you have experienced over and over again.
How many times can you learn about grief, sadness, love, hate and anger?
When is it you begin to understand that you were stuck within a time loop created by a control system that did not allow you to move beyond its limitations of the physical?
The shift has taken you out of the old control into a new time line, a place where unlimited possibilities have entered again. Yet, within your own human being you have taken the control system with you, encoded within you.
No new codes can change this, and no new energy will change this, only you can change this.
Freedom is not something you know about, you think you have, it is something that can only be fully experienced by moving into your original state of being.
It is nice to know that you think you are more than a physical being, that you know that in reality you are a spiritual being, but what steps have you taken to bring it into fruition.
As many of you at this moment are still looking for a real purpose, you have found some small ones along the way, but I think many will admit that there still is something more.
We have spoken about this so many times, going beyond the physical, going beyond the physical reality, moving into a state of being source upon earth.
Moving back into your spiritual bodies, transforming the physical into the spiritual.
We cannot spell it out more clearly.
Many of you are falling back into the old control systems beliefs in a way, and a new control system is built through you. Before the shift the main control system was in the earth herself, at this moment you are assisting in setting up a new control system through your own human belief systems within your physical body. The old ways have not left, they are within you and even though you say you have moved beyond, you are holding on to all that was holding you back before and holding back now.
You have made changes within you, changes within your beliefs, but none of them move beyond the earth reality into your real reality. The only way you can do that is leave behind the earth reality and move fully into your source reality.
Leaving behind all beliefs of the human, but also the beliefs about the spiritual.
What you see as your spiritual reality is only a small part and it will remain small unless you make the choice to really move beyond all limitations.
This means that you actually take steps to move beyond.
Moving beyond is not done by just accepting what is present, thinking that the new energies are going to do it, as the new energies are not there for the purpose of you moving beyond all limitations. They are there to support all that will remain upon earth as they have not completed their experiences upon earth.
You have to realize that small steps are needed for the ones that remain upon earth, changing the earth reality in a reality where full consciousness is experienced by all would mean that the ones that are here, or have just come here, will not be able to go through their experiences and learning process they have chosen upon earth.
For those that are ready, time to grow up, leave home, and move onto the greater pasture of exploration once again.

Part 2: RELIGIOUS EXCITEMENTS
The Sights, Sounds, and Spectacles of Spurious Spirituality
By Pastor Larry DeBruyn
Exodus and Excitements
The problem being raised is not new (Read Exodus 32:1-35.). Upon their exodus from Egypt, the children of Israel were not content in worshipping a God they could not see or feel, a God who was apparently not meeting their needs. "Is the Lord among us, or not?" they asked, as they grumbled against Moses and God because of a shortage of water in the wilderness (Exodus 17:7). Not content to walk by faith and to trust the Lord to meet their needs, the children of Israel wanted tangible proof that the Lord was with them. So as they wondered and wandered, they grew increasingly restless and unsatisfied.
In spite of Mount Sinai acting like a volcano for reason of the Lord's presence (Exodus 19:18), and when later Moses delayed on the mountain and did not return to give them a "signal" report of the Lord's dealings with him, they couldn't stand the drab silence. They needed something more, something visual and exciting. So they demanded of Aaron the High Priest, "Come, make us a god who will go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him" (Exodus 32:1).
So being the accommodating religious leader he was, Aaron took their sacrifices of praise, their jewelry, and smelted and engraved the precious metals into the image of a powerful bull. To the mass of religious voyeurs he then declared, "*This is your god,* (lit., 'these are your gods'] O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt" (Exodus 32:4). Israel no longer needed to wonder if the gods were with them. One had miraculously jumped out of the fire! As Aaron explained to Moses, "I threw it [i.e., the jewelry] into the fire, and out came this calf" (Exodus 32:24).
But not only did the Israelites possess "the need" to see their gods, but also "to get high" over them. So in an act revealing the utter ungodliness of the audience-driven and seeker-sensitive approach to ministry, Aaron announced,"Tomorrow shall be a feast [a celebration] to the Lord" (Exodus 32:5). It was on his own initiative Aaron decreed this feast, for the Lord had already mandated the three feasts Israel was to observe, and this wasn't one of them! (See Exodus 23:14-17.).
So the next day, the Exodus narrative describes the frenzied excitement that built up around the entertaining image of the bull. Upon hearing the wild worship going on in the camp when he and Moses descended from the holy mount with the two inscribed tablets of stone, Joshua supposed that the celebration was "a sound of war in the camp" (Exodus 32:17). But Moses knew differently. "It is not the sound of the cry of triumph, nor is it the sound of the cry of defeat," he said, "but the sound of singing I hear" (Exodus 32:18). A celebration was going on.
To explain the displeasure of God against this kind of stuff happening in the church under the guise of worship, the apostle Paul referred to this incident. To the Corinthians he explained, "Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, 'The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.' Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed..." (1 Corinthians 10:6-8a, KJV).
Signs and Adultery
In working His messianic miracles, his "signs and wonders," Jesus attracted crowds (Matthew 8:18; Mark 9:25; Luke 5:19; John 5:13). Jesus exorcised demons out of afflicted persons restoring them to spiritual and emotional health (Mark 5:1-20). He caused the lame to walk and healed the sick (Isaiah 35:6; Matthew 11:4-5). He even raised people from the dead (John 11:1-46). Can it get anymore exciting than this? Expectancy built up among the Jewish people as they observed the signs and wonders Jesus worked, as He temporarily put a stop to disabilities, sickness, and death (John 21:25).In some instances, Jesus requested those He healed to keep it quiet (See Matthew 8:4; Luke 8:56; John 5:13.). But often they disobeyed Him and told others, indicating that though they liked what Jesus did, they would not listen to what He said.
The miraculous displays left many voyeurs craving for more. Jesus' miracles piqued the curiosity of many Jews. They were spectators of spectacles. This helps explain why at the height of His ministry, certain Jewish leaders came to Jesus and said, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You" (Matthew 12:38). Signs and wonders made for good theater.
So Jesus censured the sign seekers telling them that, "*An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign..."* (Matthew 12:39a). He then proceeded to explain that, "no sign" would be given to them except "the sign of Jonah the prophet," and that the repentant persons who had lived at the time of both Jonah and Solomon would rise up to judge them (Matthew 12:39b-42). The Jews wanted theater, but all Jesus would talk about was their guilt and the coming divine judgment. Jesus seemed to know that spectacles produced spectators, but He was looking for followers.
Question: On account of the present cravings for spectacle spirituality, how much of the "we-got-to-feel-it" atmosphere which is aroused in our worship celebrations indicates that, like Jews of His day, Jesus might consider us to be an evil and adulterous generation?
No stranger to controversy that comes from standing for God's truth amidst a multitude's cravings for show-time religion, Methodist evangelist Rev. Mr. Beverly Carradine (1848-1931) perceived that, "The whole demand for signs springs from unbelief." He then continues,
We are referring to a spirit of doubt that will not take God's word nor move forward as He directs without some peculiar display of the divine presence and power, which in our conceit we dictate to the Lord and also decide as to its fashion, form and continuance... The Lord seeks to bring His followers into a life of such faith in Him that they will not ask nor care for strange sights and sounds... If we want to please God we must throw away every doubt when He has spoken; quit asking for strange tokens and wonders; and, resting on His word, say, "No matter what happens, I believe God; and though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
We should know that Jesus is not looking for fans, but for followers (Matthew 4:19; 8:22; 9:9; 16:24; 19:21; John 10:27; etc.). He calls us to the cross, and not to celebrations, to self-denial, and not to self-indulgence. He told His followers,"If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me" (Matthew 16:24).
Self-denial is not a "feel good" experience. In fact, sin and its guilt, which lies at the heart of Jesus' atonement, makes us to feel bad about ourselves; and this may account for the reason there is so little preaching about sin and guilt in contemporary churches these days. Such a message would spoil the celebration.
But the need to be entertained not only manifested itself amongst the Exodus Israelites and the Jews in Jesus' day, but also the pagan Greeks...
To be continued...
The Truth:
"And My people are bent to backsliding from Me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt Him." (Hosea 11:7)

To value the potential wrapped up in your calling, will take seeing your ministry as a spiritual counterpart to an old-time country doctor. This qualify country doctor does he duties of delivering babies, saw children through their growing up years, give them preventative shots, cures their fevers, listened to their dreams, help them through puberty and pimples, taught them the facts of life, attend their weddings, deliver their children and then started the cycle again for the new generation.
However, he was often frustrated by his failures, underpaid by his patients, poorly equipped by technology and not especially viewed as an important professional by his peers in big city hospitals.
But as he live his life, he had the incredible joy of knowing he save Tim's life, brought Margie and her baby through difficult labor, sat up all night as Granny changed worlds and prescribe healing medicine to make Jack feel better in a few days.
Your calling has a similar impact on caring out the mission; however, a calling has a much greater exhilaration than the country doctor. Un like the country doctor, the calling points people to Christ, enable others to make sense of life, preserve cracking marriages, teach faith to children, hold the hands of dying saints and share a holy partnership with Christ, The privileges and accomplishments are miraculous.
Finding that passion again may be an adolescent, illogical or even utopian return to what never was, something like your first puppy love for the girl next door, or a crush on your kindergarten teacher. On a more satisfying level, a rekindled realistic love for your ministry may be more like a long list of reason to be in love on a legal pad after being married for a decade or even half a century.
To find that passion again requires a return to the basic of ministry. The questions you must ask your self are:
Who called you?
Who started you in this work?
How does work leak out of ministry?
What will it take to make your passion your most compelling motivation
again?
Has secular culture strangled significance out of Christian service for you?
You must never forget that your call is more than an honorable profession, a praiseworthy dedication or even a commendable way of life. Rather it is a tender, life giving relationship between the savior and a shepherd. A call to ministered starts and can accomplish incredible achievement beyond your wildest dreams because of such a personal relationship between God and the one who He called.

According to the legend Jean-Baptiste La Prete, being short on funds, leased his winter home on 716 Dauphine Street to a turbaned gentleman who claimed to be the Sultan of Turkey. Upon signing the lease, the Sultan moved in along with an entourage of harem girls, beardless boys and eunuch guards who patrolled the balconies with drawn scimitars. Those who gained entrance to the Sultan's inner sanctum told wild tales of debauched orgies and banquets: those who stood outside the gates noticed the constant smells of opium and incense.
Then, one morning, police were called when neighbors noticed rivulets of blood running beneath the iron gates. When no one answered their summons, they forced the doors and entered the home. There they found body parts scattered throughout the house: the servants, guards, harem girls and slave boys had literally been hacked to bits.
Going into the garden, they found a hand sticking out from the dirt: the Sultan had been buried alive and suffocated before he was able to claw his way out of his shallow grave. The crime was never solved. Some claimed the culprits were pirates who wanted the Sultan's treasure. Others said the Sultan was really the Sultan's brother, who had escaped to New Orleans after stealing gold and slaves only to find that an ocean was no shield against the Ottoman Emperor's wrath.
Since that time, 716 Dauphine has gained a reputation as one of the most haunted houses in New Orleans. People have reported hearing the tinkle of Oriental music, the smell of incense, or bloodcurdling screams. Apparations of a light-haired man in Turkish garb have also been spotted, and some say that a gnarled tree in the garden is possessed by the spirit of the murdered Sultan, who has caused it to twist in the form of his death throes. Says Virgie Posten, a choreographer who lived at 716 Dauphine for a brief time in the late 1950s:
...I moved out of that place a few months afterwards because I saw a man in my apartment on two different occasions and could never really explain how he could have gotten in or out of there so quickly without a sound.
My two-room apartment had only one door, which opened into the main hall only a few yards from the foot of the enormous central staircase that wound its way up to the floors above. I always kept it locked, and even if whoever it was had had a key, I think I would have at least heard it turning in the lock. Yet there was nothing. Only silence. One minute he was there...the next he was gone! He didn't seem hostile. He'd just stand there and look at me, but it was terribly eerie and nerve-wracking!
After that second time, when I woke up in the middle of the night and saw him standing at the foot of the bed staring at me, I made up my mind to get out of there," continued the still-attractive brunette. "There was no sign of him when I turned on the lights and got up to check, but I abandoned everything there the next day and went to stay temporarily with a girlfriend until I could find another place to live. Of course, I still wasn't thinking about ghosts.
It wasn't until a few days afterward that I happened by chance to see an article in the newspaper about the house and its legend. Then I realized where I was living. The description that the paper gave of the "sultan" - how he was supposed to have been 'to the blond side,' despite his Turkish origin - seemed to fit the person I'd seen and set me thinking.
My third and last experience, however, was the most frightening of all. That was the night my girlfriend and I stopped by the house to get a few of my things, which I'd left there until I could move them out. We were standing in the dimly lit hallway in the empty house, as I locked the door, when we suddenly heard a blood-curdling scream come out of the inky blackness somewhere at the top of the staircase just a few feet from us! It was petrifying - a long shrill scream that ended in a horrible gurgle! We ran as if the devil himself were after us to the street door. For a moment we even got wedged in the doorway, as both of us tried to get out at the same time! We laugh about it today but it was pretty frightening at that moment! The very next day I got my things out of there.
Alas, details of this story are sketchy. Some versions of the legend claim the atrocity took place in 1792, even though the La Prete House was not built until 1836. And there is no contemporary mention of this Sultan or his murder in any of the local papers. (Even in the Big Easy a crime this brutal would surely have gained attention from the press!) I was tempted to write this off as yet another legend created for "ghost-hunting" tourists. Then I discovered an earlier story compiled in 1866 by local historian Charles Gayarr'e.
In the beginning of 1727, a French vessel of war landed at New Orleans a man of haughty mien, who wore the Turkish dress, and whose whole attendance was a single servant. He was received by the governor with the highest distinction, and was conducted by him to a small but comfortable house with a pretty garden, then existing at the corner of Orleans and Dauphine streets, and which, from the circumstance of its being so distant from other dwellings, might have been called a rural retreat, although situated in the limits of the city. There, the stranger, who was understood to be a prisoner of state, lived in the greatest seclusion; and although neither he nor his attendant could be guilty of indiscretion, because none understood their language, and although Governor P'erier severely rebuked the slightest inquiry, yet it seemed to be the settled conviction in Louisiana, that the mysterious stranger was a brother of the Sultan, or some great personage of the Ottoman empire, who had fled from the anger of the viceregent of Mohammed, and who had taken refuge in France. The Sultan had peremptorily demanded the fugitive, and the French government, thinking it derogatory to its dignity to comply with that request, but at the same time not wishing to expose its friendly relations with the Moslem monarch, and perhaps desiring, for political purposes, to keep in hostage the important guest it had in its hands, had recourse to the expedient of answering, that he had fled to Louisiana, which was so distant a country that it might be looked upon as the grave, where, as it was suggested, the fugitive might be suffered to wait in peace for actual death, without danger or offense to the Sultan. Whether this story be true or not is now a matter of so little consequence, that it would not repay the trouble of a strict historical investigation.
The year 1727 was drawing to its close, when on a dark, stormy night, the howling and barking of the numerous dogs in the streets of New Orleans were observed to be fiercer than usual, and some of that class of individuals who pretend to know every thing, declared that, by the vivid flashes of the lightning, they had seen, swiftly and stealthily gliding toward the residence of the "unknown", a body of men who wore the scowling appearance of malefactors and ministers of blood. There afterward came also a report, that a piratical-looking Turkish vessel had been hovering a few days previous in the bay of Barataria. Be it as it may, on the next morning the house of the stranger was deserted. There were no traces of mortal struggle to be seen; but in the garden, the earth had been dug, and "there" was the unmistakable indication of a recent grave. Soon, however, all doubts were removed by the finding of an inscription in Arabic characters, engraved on a marble tablet, which was subsequently sent to France. It ran thus: "The justice of heaven is satisfied, and the date-tree shall grow on the traitor's tomb. The sublime Emperor of the faithful, the supporter of the faith, the omnipotent master and Sultan of the world, has redeemed his vow. God is great, and Mohammed is his prophet. Allah!" Some time after this event, a foreign-looking tree was seen to peep out of this spot where a corpse must have been deposited in that stormy night, when the rage of the elements yielded to the pitiless fury of man, and it thus explained in some degree this part of the inscription, "the date-tree shall grow on the traitor's grave."
This "small but comfortable house" was located on the site of the La Prete House: the date palm in question grows in its garden. Could that old legend, retold and updated as time went on, be the basis of 716 Dauphine's evil reputation? Does the ghost of that murdered Turk still wander the halls of the La Prete home, condemned to relive his murder over and over through the ages? Perhaps Gayarr'e had the best suggestion for those who would find out. "Ask Nemesis, or - at that hour when evil spirits are allowed to roam over the earth, and magical incantations are made - go, and interrogate "the tree of the dead"."From the Kenaz Filan Blog

Imbolc (Gwyl Mair) Quarter of the Year
February 1st., 2010
IMBOLC
Imbolc is the time when things stir beneath the surface. It is the time of infinite possibilities for the new cycle of life and creativity, when energies are still gathering in the astral, preparing to manifest. The celebration is sacred to Brigid, goddess of smithcraft, poetry, and healing. Take time to concentrate on what you wish to manifest in the coming year. What needs craftwork applied to it, on any level? Can you sing or write it into existence? Does any healing need to happen in your life?
Decorate your altar in red and white. Place a bowl of white roses in the center, flanked by red candles. Write a poem dedicated to Brigid. Don't worry, it doesn't need to rhyme - it only needs to to be from the heart! Take a specially painted and prepared pot of earth and place several seeds in it. Let each seed represent something you wish to manifest. Honor and nurture these seedlings. Take a glass bowl filled with clean water and a handful of small, clear crystals. Name each crystal for something in your life that needs to be healed and drop them one by one into the bowl. As each healing occurs, remove that crystal. When the bowl is empty, pour away the water.

IMBOLC
"Feast of the waxing light, "restore our hope!"
Imbolc - celebrated between February Eve and February 3rd depending upon tradition, most commonly February 2nd in North America. Also known as: Imbolc, Candlemas, Brigantia, Lupercus, or Disting. Certain Western European traditions celebrated festivals from sundown to sundown. If you choose to observe Imbolc according to that model, your festival would begin at sundown on February 1st. This is one of the cross-quarter holy days, halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Vernal Equinox.
Imbolc has always been a fire festival so far as we know. The old ones did not have the advantages of astronomical understanding and were beset by a sincere concern that the longer, warmer days might not return. The bonfires were intended to encourage the return of summer. LIke all good pagan festivals, Imbolc was adopted and adapted by Christian missionary monks. It was brought indoors, reduced to candles and renaemd Candlemas (Candle Mass). The Roman version of this goddess festival, Juno Februata, was adapted as the Virgin Purification feast. Another Imbolc Altar:
by Patti Wigington - 2008
This is my household Imbolc altar. I've laid out altar cloths in red and white, to symbolize both the melting snow of the season (at least, we HOPE it's going to melt) and the fire of the sun. There's a Brighid's cross at the center, that my kids and I made out of chenille stems. A bouquet of early spring flowers sits above some winter greenery, left over from Yule. My Celtic cross candleholder is one of my favorite ritual items, and I also have a cauldron sitting there which I've toted around with me for years. I have a few other little goodies on there, including a set of prayer beads I made, and an Imbolc greeting card from my High Priestess and mentor. Finally, the two red candles on either side are the ones I use during my Imbolc rite to celebrate the ongoing return of the sun.

"THE OTHER DAY, I RECEIVED A VERY NICE E-MAIL FROM A WICCAN GENTLEMAN WITH A FAMILY WHO TOLD ME THAT HE LOVED MY BLOG AND MY SOLITARY SABBAT RITUALS. HE HAD LIKED THEM SO MUCH THAT HE ASKED ME IF I HAD EVER PUBLISHED THEM (ASIDE FROM MY BLOG) AND IF SO, WHERE COULD HE OBTAIN A COPY? "
"EVEN THOUGH I AM A SOLITARY PRACTITIONER AT HEART, I HAVE BEEN CELEBRATING THE WICCAN SABBATS FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS WITH MY CLOSE GROUP OF SOLITARY FRIENDS. THE SABBATS WHICH I POST ON MY BLOG ARE SLIGHTLY CONVERTED VERSIONS OF THE RITUAL CEREMONIES THAT WE USE EVERY YEAR. OF COURSE, I MAY MAKE A FEW MINOR ALTERATIONS DEPENDING UPON WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE SMALL CHILDREN JOINING US, ETC., BUT BASICALLY, THEY ARE THE SAME RITUALS I ALWAYS USE."
"I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY A HUMBLE, "THANK YOU!" TO THIS KIND MAN FOR HIS THOUGHTFULNESS IN TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE ME. IT IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!"

A Grimoire for Modern Cunning Folk
Peter Paddon, Pendraig Publishing
2010
Don't know if I would call this book a Grimoire as it seems more like an over view and introductory reading of Traditional Witchcraft. There are non spells in this book or rituals per se. There are meditations and there are discussions on covens and the set up of an altar.
In reality though this book is a primer on CED witchcraft, something which is not mentioned in the book. There is mention of a coven in North Hollywood that the author used to belong to but no where is the name mentioned and no where is the coven leader who taught Peter CED witch craft even mentioned. A bridge has been burned in order to make a place.
I had some reservations about reviewing the book as it does have good information yet the sources are all covered up. That being said I shall launch into a summary of the book.
CED witchcraft really focuses on learning lore and there is also a strong emphasis on working with the ancestors both spiritual and biological. The Deities as the author describes them are both living breathing entities and archetypes that dwell with in the psyche. The most prominent deity is auld hornie, the great honred god of the witches. He is normally embodied in Cernunnos, Odin etc. He is agod of fertility, the dead and is a trickster God. He is the king of the Underworld, the Wild man of the forest.
The Queen of Fate or the White Lady is the mistr4ess of mysteries and only comes around as he needed. She is embodied in the Goddess of Goda. THe Dark mother exists outside the wheel of the year. She is the Goddess of Change and is ussually manifested asw Ceridwen. She exist in the North Eastern quadrant in the Circle.
The Lord and Lady are the deities of Nature most Wiccans are familiar with. They are the heads of the Faerie Court. The Male god is the child of promise, warrior, lover., priest, King and wraith. His life cycle follows the wheel of the year and each of the different goddesses discussed plays a part in the mystery thus far discussed.
Wiccans and cermonials will cast a circle and call their quarters after all Wicca is the daughter magic system of Ceremonial Magic. Instead the Crafters as they are so called will "lay the compass" or "plough the bloody field" The techniques that they use are different. There is a simulation of pushing a bolder or starting in the center and moving out. For each quarter there is a pair of deities that serve as guardians or protectors. There are also 4 points that are combo points like the North East and each of those has their own set of deities. THe author has included a meditation to contact those deities and work with them.
There are many different ways of working with deities. The Wiccan way is to call down the deity and have them momentarily possess you. The CED way is for you to go up to there realm so they can communicate with you and/or possess you. Some times they can come down and you move closer to them until their prescence envelopes you.
To do magic or meditate properly one needs to enter into a trance state of gnosis. This can ber done by various mediation techniques or herbs. The two the author reccomends is mugwort and salvia divinorum. You can burn them as an incence of vaporize teh salvia divinorum. There is also a hmome remdy for making absinthe.
The author also describes the parts or tools of the altar, magicians working tools and how they are used. Meditation techniquwes such as raising your dragon are discussed along with the Traditional Crafter atitude for taking oaths.
I wish I could have given this book a review but proper credits must go to the ones who taught him.Enjoy the blog

Athena was the state patroness Goddess of Athens in ancient Greece. The famous temple The Parthenon on the Acropolis was made in her honor and was said to house an enormous statue of Athena inside. She was seen as a Goddess of wisdom, courage, strength and war. The myth of her birth is quite interesting. Athena was the daughter of Zeus and Metis. Once Zeus found out Metis was pregnant with a girl, when if she had been pregnant with a boy, the child would have been more powerful, he was raged. So he tricked Metis and ended up swallowing her. Soon after, Zeus became plagued with horrendous headaches, so he ran to Hephaestus, the Smith God, and asked him to open his head. So he opened Zeus's head and out popped Athena fully grown and ready for battle.
To quote J. E. Harrison, a British classical scholar and feminist, Athena's birth "is a desperate theological expedient to rid her of matriarchal conditions". This was a time when the male power was taking over, and this myth shows their force of dominance. This would give the males more authority and power since the act of giving birth is only part of the feminine make up. All the same, she was still a very powerful and loved Goddess in ancient Greece.
Often depicted with a bronze helmet and a spear, Athena was talented in many different areas including crafts. She was said to have invented the trumpet, was a master weaver and maker of metal work weapons. She was said to lead battles and help many heroes such as Odysseus and Heracles. She was also a virgin Goddess. Her sacred animal is the owl and her beloved Ericthonius, her serpent. Athena became foster mother to this snake when Hephaestus tried to rape her, but she got away, and his semen fell to the earth and impregnated Gaia, who then gave birth to Ericthonius. Some of her statues often depict her with this serpent along with her spear and helmet. I actually saw two of these statues in the Vatican museum when we were in Italy this past Spring.
Call on Athena when you need wisdom in your own life. Or the strength and courage to overcome any battles, inner our outer. She can teach us to be strong and confident in ourselves in the face of adversity. To learn how to form our inner strength and make us wiser in the end. Also call on her when making crafts.
Her sacred tree in the Olive tree, sacred animals are the owl and the serpent. On your altar to Athena, have colors of silver red and white, crystals of azurite and lapis lazuli, A picture or statue of the Goddess, some olive oil, representation of an owl or serpent, and/or an athame.
Enjoy gaining some of your strength and wisdom from this powerful Greek Goddess!
