Jewellery are just like people; they have different beginnings and origins. There are various tales regarding the origins of jewelleries. In any case, archeological studies reveal that the earliest signs of jewellery were observed in Africa around 70,000 years ago. They were made from raw materials that our ancestors can find in the forest or in the wild. At that time, ancient men create different forms of jewellery to represent their belief systems or to signify the tribe that they belonged to. Back in those days, jewellery created by people were fashioned out from shells, animal bones or even rocks. Naturally, they were not of top quality like contemporary jewellery are due to the absence of metal forging equipment, but they were every bit as important to these people as they are to us today. For instance, they were donned to purportedly protect a person from malignant spirits or bad vibes.
On top of serving as amulets or talismans, jewellery has a broader purpose than one can imagine. Jewellery has brought a tremendous impact on people's existence ever since they were first created. Today, jewellery are primarily used as decorative ornaments. They can also an image of royalty, fame or prosperity. Royals or rich people own a tantalizing quantity of jewellery that they retain to add on their list of assets. These jewellery that are kept by these people are then handed down from one generation to another as family heirlooms. Jewels are also utilised as a way or a means of conveying feelings and sentiments, specifically love. Religious groups have used the ring as a symbol of marriage and the promise of eternal love.
The uses of jewellery have actually developed throughout different periods over time. Every specific era had different outlooks with regards to jewellery. The ancient Egyptians were the ones who established or forged the very first alloy jewellery. They made use of gold and bronze as main materials in forging their jewels. Egyptians also held the belief that jewellery contained magical powers and that the individual wearing it will also acquire the power held inside of the trinket. Opposing this particular theory are the Greeks and Romans. Opposite to the Egyptians, they made jewellery that were intended to accentuate their looks and highlight their culture and tradition. In both civilizations, the culture's gods provided inspiration for the creation of the jewels. Jewellery during this time had more variations when it comes to style and fabrication.
Aside from culture, tradition and mythical beliefs, jewellery were also made to elaborate the faith of the people. In the Middle Ages, people wore jewellery that were representational of their beliefs particularly the Christian religion. The Dark Ages were also the time period wherein monasteries had set up a guild to keep an eye on the quality of the jewellery being created. This is the same during the Renaissance period; they have adapted the same attitude towards jewellery as that of the Middle Age period. The Renaissance era produced varying creations that are eye-catching in nature. People used many precious gems and stones to complement their jewellery. These comprise of sapphire, ruby, turquoise and diamonds, which are used up until today. There are quality products from Kalmar Antiques like timeless and antique rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets. These items are truly one of a kind and their designs and styles are eternal.
Today, jewellery designs are essentially a reinvention of past designs and styles but are given a new twist or feature that suits the times. People buy jewellery for several different reasons. They are either given as gifts or compiled into a collection. People drop by trusted jewellers, visit shopping centres or shop online today for the very best type of jewellery. Jewellery is not only an accessory or a beauty piece but a good investment to a lot of consumers as well.

BOOK: THE SORCERIES OF ZOS FROM CULTS OF THE SHADOW BY AUSTIN OSMAN SPARE
Austin Spare claimed to have had direct experience of the existence of extra-terrestrial intelligences, and Crowley- as his autobiography makes abundantly clear- devoted a lifetime to proving that extra-terrestrial and superhuman consciousness can and does exist independently of the human organism.
As explained in Images and Oracles of Austin Osman Spare, Spare was initiated into the vital current of ancient and creative sorcery by an aged woman named Paterson, who claimed decent form a line of Salem witches. The formation of Spare's Cult of the Zos and the Kia owes much to his contact with Witch Paterson who provides the model for many of his 'sabbatic' drawings and paintings. Much of the occult lore that she transmitted to him suffuses two of his Austin Osman Spare - The Sorceries Of Zos From Cults Of The Shadow

"We thought our customers would like to know a little more about how these natural handmade and exquisite goats milk soaps are handcrafted and why Erzulie's goats milk soaps and Voodoo Spirit TM Goats Milk Soaps are the finest we've ever seen"
ABOUT NATURAL HANDMADE GOATS MILK SPIRITUAL SOAPS
NATURAL GOATS MILK SOAPS AND HANDMADE SPIRITUAL SOAPS! Erzulie's is quite renowned for the finest, most natural and organic ingredients that go into all of our products, particularly our HANDMADE GOATS MILK SPIRITUAL SOAPS. We thought our customers would like to know a little more about how these exquisite soaps are handcrafted and why Erzulie's goat's milk soaps and Voodoo Spirit TM Goats Milk Soaps are the finest we've ever seen.Apart from the ritual work that goes into each and every product at Erzulie's, the ancient formulary, the finest organic ingredients and the most precious oils in the world, there is a real science behind crafting handmade Goat's Milk Soaps that few have mastered, with the help of our on-staff Master Soap Crafter, we are happy to provide you the following information on our natural handmade soaps. What makes natural soaps so great? Essentially, it is the artificial ingredients they lack: artificial hardeners, whiteners, detergents, chemical surfactants, and synthetic perfumes. Handmade goats milk soaps are in a category of their own and because they are all natural, they do possess the energies and life force of the very roots, herbs, plants and essential oils they are made with to insure spiritual connection, which is the primary purpose for our handmade goat's milk soaps. We truly believe Spirit and specifically the Lwa, do not resonate with man-made chemicals or synthetics.
Additionally, they bring you back to a sacred time when things were pure and simple, when people were in touch with nature, the cycles of the seasons and deep reverence for Spirit. Wholesome vegetable oils, organic goat's milk, rain, and plenty of organic botanicals are carefully measured and blended to preserve their skin-loving properties as well, so natural soaps are not only the best for your spiritually, they are the best for you psychically as well.
Stirred by hand and allowed to rest for at least 24 hours, these goat's milk soaps contain a high percentage of glycerin, humectants and natural byproducts that draws moisture to your skin as you bathe. Cured for several weeks, the natural soaps harden and the pure essential oils, organic roots, herbs and plants mingle; you will notice a fresh burst of plant essences every time you lather.
Natural Soaps or "Old Fashioned" or "True Soaps" are all made from are made from three basic ingredients: oil or fat, water, and an alkali. The water dissolves the alkali and allows it to bond with the oil molecules, creating a new component: soap.
As with any chemical reaction, a certain amount of heat is needed to get the reaction going, and the reaction itself creates heat. The soaps we make at Erzulie's are handmade with what is called the "cold process method" the most authentic and challenging we may add!
This means that we do not apply any external heat once the ingredients are blended together. This process relies on the heat generated during the chemical reaction - called Saponification - to complete the process.
Some soap makers "cook" their soap; we call this hot process. The hot process method causes the alkali and oil molecules to bond quicker, thus speeding up the Saponification process; however, this method results in soap that has a different texture than cold process soap, due to the extra water used and the stirring that takes place while the soap cooks and thickens in the pot.
In the cold process method, the ingredients are blended and stirred until it reaches a certain point which we call "trace." This is the point at which the Saponification can continue on its own without risking separation. The still-liquid soap is then poured into wooden molds where it sits for at least 24 hours. The wood molds help to insulate the soap and retain the heat created during Saponification.
If the soap were to cool too quickly, the process would be greatly slowed or even halted - the mixture would not turn into soap. Should the soap mixture gets too hot while in the mold, the soap can separate or curdle, so the temperature is maintained by the amount and type of insulation used (typically towels or blankets). The soap molds are left in a draft-free area with a controlled humidity level to aid the process. Timing, temperature and curing is the key to producing the highest quality goat milk soaps. Speaking of goat's milk soap, here's a little more information as to why Erzulie's Natural Goat's Milk Soaps are made with Goats Milk!
Goat's milk is used in Erzulie's natural soaps because of its authentic magical properties, and special physical properties, including lipids that help seal in moisture and caprylic acid that helps maintain skin's natural pH level. If you want to get more technical, in comparison to cow's milk, goat's milk has shorter strands of proteins and triglycerides, which are easily absorbed into the skin.
This molecular structure makes goat's milk soaps more moisturizing and gentle enough for all skin types. We blend the soap at low temperatures to preserve the natural vitamins, minerals and proteins present in goat's milk; these components also contribute to the creamy lather that you will experience.
Every batch of Erzulie's natural spiritual soap is handmade based upon authentic Voodoo recipes and formulary, in small batches, poured into handmade wooden molds, hand cut, and allowed to cure each scent blend is carefully balanced to ensure crisp top notes, a long lasting middle note, and grounded base notes. Minerals and clays from the Earth are used to color each goat's milk soap, in addition to botanical infusions, seeds, spices, and herbs. The result of all these components is an exclusive combination of pure essential oils, moisturizing goat's milk, and rare botanicals that you will not find anywhere else.

"I need some help. I am very empathetic towards other people, it is so extreme that my emotions will match theirs without me even realizing it. I am trying to distance myself a little bit, but I can't help but feel really bad for people. It gets so bad I've even fallen into a small depression again. Do you know any advice, meditations, spells, or rites that can help me be able to not have my emotions match other people's?"
I understand this issue more than you know. I myself, am very intuitive and at times, I have found myself taking on the emotions of others. First things first, you do not need to feel bad about having this ability, however you should understand having this ability is taking on a responsibility to yourself. In my personal experience, I have had the same problems and it took me time to master the ability to protect myself. You are currently experiencing the depression because of the energy you take on from others. When someone has this type of intuition, it is easy to know what they are feeling, how they are feeling, and often the most dangerous is to actually experience their feelings. My suggestion to you is to perform a protection ritual or spell, and or build a protection bottle. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Cleanse yourself of negative energies given off by other people:
-Visualize a tiny hole in the small of your back, move the negative energies, and emotions of other people down toward the hole letting it drain out into the Earth. Do this until you feel the emotions of others leave your body.
-When you are ready, visually close that small dark hole, and embrace yourself, visualize yourself filling up with white light.
2. Cleanse yourself, your aura, and your chakras as well as your home (because we know that energy lingers)
-Do this by taking a cleansing bath filled with your favorite aromatherapy, I find that Lavender is a good relaxation oil, and a few drops in the bathwater is good for the soul
-When you are finished with your bath, sage yourself. Light a sage stick, encircle yourself in the smoke starting at the tip of your head and all the way to the tip of your toes.
-While smudging yourself, say "Smoke of sage encircle me, rid me of all negativity", repeat this as long as it takes you to smudge yourself
-Start at the back of your home if a single level and upstairs if you have a two story, and move counter-clockwise around the room making sure to hit each corner and window and repeat "I see only pure reflected light, I am ridding this house of all negativity, and negative emotions, O' Blessed Be." Repeat over and over again until you are finished.
-Chant as you smudge each room. When you get to the front and back doors, keep chanting the above chant with the door open, and make a sweeping motion out of the door, sweeping the negativity and depressive feelings out the door.
-Once done with the smudging, go around the home and salt it. That is, take sea salt (regular salt works if you don't have sea salt), and take pinches of it and spread it along the walls and into all corners and window sills. Remember to keep chanting until you reach the front or back door.
Lastly is the protection sachet:
3 parts Dill seed
2 parts Caraway seed
1 part Flax seed
1 pinch Salt
Place all herbs in a white or red cloth and tie up. Carry with you for protection.
On a side note, while the above may work, if this is a situation that occurs regularly, regardless of the person or situation, you need to center and ground yourself before meeting up with others or before going into large crowds. Because of your empathy and ability to feel what others feel, you could be affected by psychic vampires, and be completely drained of all good energy. Ground and center, those are the keys, remember to protect yourself by saying "these are not my emotions or feelings, I am not responsible for their feelings, I am responsible for only mine" If you feel yourself being taken in by someone or you are aware that it is occurring, please remember to take a step back, take a break and re-ground and re-center and re-protect. Soon you will know exactly how to handle these situations. Best of luck.
Blessed Be

305. WHEN IS A PERSON OBLIGED TO CONFESS MORTAL SINS?
(Comp 305) Each of the faithful who has reached the age of discretion is bound to confess his or her mortal sins at least once a year and always before receiving Holy Communion. "IN BRIEF"(CCC 1488) To the eyes of faith no evil is graver than sin and nothing has worse consequences for sinners themselves, for the Church, and for the whole world.
TO DEEPEN AND EXPLAIN(CCC 1457) According to the Church's command, "after having attained the age of discretion, each of the faithful is bound by an obligation faithfully to confess serious sins at least once a year" (Cf. CIC, Can. 989; Council of Trent (1551): DS 1683; DS 1708). Anyone who is aware of having committed a mortal sin must not receive Holy Communion, even if he experiences deep contrition, without having first received sacramental absolution, unless he has a grave reason for receiving Communion and there is no possibility of going to confession (Cf.
Council of Trent (1551): DS 1647; 1661; CIC, can. 916; CCEO, can. 711). Children must go to the sacrament of Penance before receiving Holy Communion for the first time (Cf. CIC, can. 914). ON REFLECTION(CCC 2042) The first precept ("You shall attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation and rest from servile labor") requires the faithful to sanctify the day commemorating the Resurrection of the Lord as well as the principal liturgical feasts honoring the mysteries of the Lord, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the saints; in the first place, by participating in the Eucharistic celebration, in which the Christian community is gathered, and by resting from those works and activities which could impede such a sanctification of these days (Cf.
CIC, cann. 1246-1248; CCEO, cann. 880 SS 3, 881 SSSS 1, 2, 4). The second precept ("You shall confess your sins at least once a year.") ensures preparation for the Eucharist by the reception of the sacrament of reconciliation, which continues Baptism's work of conversion and forgiveness (Cf. CIC, can.
989; CCEO, can. 719). The third precept ("You shall receive the sacrament of the Eucharist at least during the Easter season.") guarantees as a minimum the reception of the Lord's Body and Blood in connection with the Paschal feasts, the origin and center of the Christian liturgy (Cf. CIC, can. 920; CCEO, cann.
708; 881 SS 3). (CCC 1386) Before so great a sacrament, the faithful can only echo humbly and with ardent faith the words of the Centurion: "Domine, non sum dignus ut intres sub tectum meum, sed tantum dic verbo, et sanabitur anima mea" ("Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul will be healed.
") ("Roman Missal", response to the invitation to communion; cf. Mt 8:8) and in the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom the faithful pray in the same spirit: O Son of God, bring me into communion today with your mystical supper. I shall not tell your enemies the secret, nor kiss you with Judas' kiss.
But like the good thief I cry, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
"(NEXT QUESTION: WHY CAN VENIAL SINS ALSO BE THE OBJECT OF SACRAMENTAL CONFESSION?) "

There are four notable energy functions of quartz crystals, and these functions can be adapted to a great many uses. In section 3 you will learn about these four energy functions, and further down this article in section 4 you will discover how to perceive the energies of any stone or crystal.
3 : PRIMARY ENERGY FUNCTIONS
Quartz is used to enhance your meditation, prayer, healing and magic. It amplifies and focuses energy, and can be used to move, direct or alter energy. This makes them an excellent tool for distance healing. Crystals are also particularly well suited to storing energy or "programs".
AMPLIFY:
Quartz will amplify all energies, especially thought forms. It will activate many levels of consciousness and can be used to enhance or develop mental and psychic powers.
FOCUS float: right;" />Clear your mind and open yourself to the subtle energies around you. Look at your stone and get to know all of its visual, physical characteristics. Spending time holding your crystal will help you unlock its secrets.
* PRACTICE INTENTIONAL BREATHING OR CIRCULAR BREATHING as you've learned in other classes here in the PaganPath Academy. Briefly: focus on your breath, inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. While inhaling, feel the air filling your lower lungs first allowing your lower abdomen swell, then fill your upper lungs allowing your chest to rise. Exhale through your mouth in reverse, collapsing your abdomen first, then emptying your upper lungs while your chest falls.
* HOLD YOUR STONE IN YOUR RECEPTIVE HAND as you've discovered in the Witchcraft ">allowing than it is about forcing." Relax, clear your mind and don't "try" too hard, just let yourself slowly feel the energy the stone has to offer.
You will be drawn to certain crystals and stones that resonate with you or with your needs. A stone you once thought to be "sleepy" might awaken for you when you are in need of its special gifts. Being around stones and crystals will help you become more attuned to their energies and you will quickly develop a knack for using them as tools in many areas of your life.

In the dying evening light, I walk around the land. This time, I'm not traveling, night ryding or moving between the worlds. No, I'm just watching the peace of the cherry tree as it weeps red gum from open sores in its bark. I move my toes in the low yellowing grass and run my hands over the leaves of pear and plum trees. I pass by the altar in Pomona's Grove, saying little prayers here and there, whispering good things to the pears and plums, urging them to grow full and fat and drop to the ground. I feel this wonderful peace and presence of life that is hard to do in these modern times.
That oneness we feel when we're in our element is a magical thing all by itself. My element is the wild forest and the garden and the river. My sense of oneness with not just nature or the world, but with my own soul happens when I watch the garden bloom, the bees move between the roses and the stripping of fur from flesh and the laying of bones.
We all have our own sense of peace that centers us and makes us powerful- and mine doesn't come from sitting in circles in a dusty room or reading tarot in a stuffy back room somewhere Downtown.
My sense of self, my place of power comes from my feet on green grass, my hands in branches, vines tangling in my wild black hair and gentle sunlight on my skin. Some of us find our place of power inside the home with their tools and cushions and candles. Some of us find our joy in an open field surrounded by friends and fellow pagans. I think this ties back to my post about personal styles of witchcraft and how you work your own path. Where we feel the most powerful is as important or maybe more important as the tools and colors and objects that lend to our sense of stability, focus and empowerment.
I am a woman of the wood that meets the sea and the rivers that bridge these two worlds. I've never been comfortably living away from the sea, I'm lucky to live a few minutes from the sandy shore of the Sound, and this county is pretty much a giant forest with patches of true forest stretching on as far as the eye can see in some places. I feel most powerful in the forests that are by the edge of the water; where you can hear the waves crash and the wild winds howl through the trees. That sacred space, that perfect place where you feel you were meant to be can be that refuge your spirit needs.
What does your sacred space look like? Where is it?

Ahimsa and Mahatma Gandhi
By David Frawley (Vamadeva)
Ahimsa is also of several types. The ahimsa of Yoga practice to reject all thoughts of harming others from ones mind and heart. There is however the ahimsa of the Kshatriya or of the social-political realm. This consists of reducing harm by controlling evil propensities and those who promote them. It has an element of self-defense. The Pandavas followed this ahimsa and fought a war according to it.
The Mahabharata says that ahimsa is the highest dharma, but also accepts the Kshatriya form of ahimsa. In fact it says in its Raja Dharma Parva that if a leader does not employ the danda (rod of punishment) then the people will end up eating one another, such are the powers of rajas and tamas in human nature.
Mahatma Gandhis mistake was to turn ahimsa as non-violence into a kind of dogma to be applied in all circumstances. While it was useful against the British, who had some sensitivities, it could not work against Hitler. Gandhi also claimed his ahimsa would liberate India without any partition. Clearly that did not work either. Aurobindo clearly saw Gandhis mistake and said it would lead to great problems in India.
Countries do need armies and police. You cannot give away your country to evil and violent people, hoping that your ahimsa will transform them. The violent samskaras of people are not very easy to change. In fact, once violence is set in adults, it may be almost impossible to change, not without a total change of values and life-style of the person.
Islam, at least in its current majority form, is not a religion of ahimsa. Islamic militants see ahimsa, peace prayers etc. as a sign of surrender and capitulation that encourages them to be more aggressive. If you give a bully what he wants, he only asks for more. If every time there is an Islamic terrorist attack people immediately jump up and start praising Islam and calling for peace, what kind of message is it sending?
So while we need not wish harm to anyone, we need to be realistic with the forces of violence in life. A Kshatriya Dharma remains important.

Last Monday, President Obama gave his second inaugural address. In it, he said:
We cannot mistake absolutism for principle, or substitute spectacle for politics, or treat name-calling as reasoned debate.
Apparently, this sentence did not sit well with some on the right, in particular Wayne LaPierre, the chief executive of the National Rifle Association (NRA). The day after President Obama's second inaugural, LaPierre gave a speech to the Weatherby International Hunting and Conservation Awards in Reno, Nevada. The primary focus of his speech was the aforementioned sentence from President Obama's second inaugural address. Allow me to quote from LaPierre's speech:
So what is this "absolutism" the president attacks? And what are the so-called "principles" that he wants us to settle for instead?
Obama wants to turn the idea of "absolutism" into a dirty word, just another word for "extremism." He wants you to accept the idea of "principles" as he sees fit to define them. It's a way of redefining words so that common sense is turned upside-down and nobody knows the difference.
...
We as gun owners face the same kind of false ultimatum. We're told that to stop insane killers, we must accept less freedom - less than the criminal class and political class keep for themselves.
We're told that limits on magazine capacity or bans on 100-year-old firearms technology - bans that only affect lawful people - will somehow make us safer.
We're told that wanting the same technology that the criminals and our leaders keep for themselves is a form of "absolutism" and that accepting less freedom and protection for ourselves is the only "principled" way to live.
Think about what that means. Barack Obama is saying that the only "principled" way to make children safe is to make lawful citizens less safe and violent criminals more safe.
Criminals couldn't care less about Barack Obama's so-called "principles"! They don't have principles - that's why they're criminals.
Obama wants you to believe that putting the federal government in the middle of every firearm transaction - except those between criminals - will somehow make us safer.
...
He doesn't understand you. He doesn't agree with the freedoms you cherish. If the only way he can force you to give 'em up is through scorn and ridicule, he's more than willing to do it - even as he claims the moral high ground.
He said it yesterday! In the very same sentence that Obama talked about "absolutism" versus "principle," he also scolded his critics for "name-calling," as he called it.
...
When Barack Obama says, "we cannot mistake absolutism for principle," what he's saying is that precision and clarity and exactness in language and law should be abandoned in favor of his nebulous, undefined "principles."
I've got news for the president. Absolutes do exist. Words do have specific meaning, in language and in law. It's the basis of all civilization. It's why our laws are written down: So the "letter of the law" carries the force of the law.
That's why our Bill of Rights was written into law, to ensure the fundamental freedoms of a minority could never be denied by a majority. Those are the principles we call unalienable rights.
Without those absolutes, without those protections, democracy decays into nothing more than two wolves and one lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. I urge our president to use caution when attacking clearly defined "absolutes" in favor of his "principles."
Mister President, just because you wish words meant something other than what they mean, you don't have the right to define them any way you want. Because when words can mean anything, they mean nothing.
When "absolutes" are abandoned for "principles," the U.S. Constitution becomes a blank slate for anyone's graffiti and our rights and freedoms are defaced.
Words do have meaning, Mister President. And those meanings are absolute, especially when it comes to our Bill of Rights.
There's more, of course, but those excerpts should give you the general tone and argument of LaPierre's speech.
Now, before getting into a real substantive discussion about "absolutism", I just want to note that LaPierre appears to be arguing that President Obama is wrong for "scolding" critics for name-calling. Yet, read LaPierre's speech and his claims about President Obama and then go back and note that what President Obama "really" said was only that "We cannot... treat name-calling as reasoned debate". Does LaPierre's speech sound to you like "reasoned debate"? Or has he instead simply illustrated President Obama's point about name-calling replacing reasoned debate? I'd vote for the latter.
Anyway, I want to turn my attention to the real substance of LaPierre's speech. And remember this: The NRA may not speak for every gun owner in America, but the NRA's speech is the loudest pro-gun speech you'll hear. Moreover and more importantly, the NRA has enormous influence both on politicians and on electoral politics, due to both vast amounts of money and a well-organized grass roots (or Astroturf - it's not really clear) campaign. One more quick preliminary point: Ask yourself whether the NRA really represents its individual gun-owning members or the gun industry that, to paraphrase Indianapolis gun store owner Don Davis, "just loves to sell guns".
So let's start with LaPierre's basic premises, as summed up in the last sentence quoted above: "Words do have meaning... [a]nd those meanings are absolute, especially when it comes to our Bill of Rights." Let's presume for a moment that LaPierre is completely correct: Words have meanings and within the Bill of Rights those meanings are absolute. Well, then, I'm curious to know what meaning LaPierre would ascribe to the first thirteen words of the Second Amendment (emphasis added):
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state", the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Remember: Words have meanings and those meanings are absolute. Except, you know, the first "half" of the words of the Second Amendment which appear to be nothing more than a... um... er... principle?
But let's go a step further. LaPierre says that the words of the Bill of Rights have absolute meanings. Thus, according to this reasoning, "shall not be infringed" must really mean "shall not be infringed". So, under this hyper-literal, "absolutist" reading of the words of the Second Amendment, wouldn't that mean that convicted criminals "do" have a right to keep and bear arms? After all, they're still a part of "the people". What about the mentally ill? Where does the Constitution allow the government to remove the mentally ill from the definition of "the people" for whom the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed? Are you comfortable with the idea of convicted felons or the mentally ill having weapons? I'm not. If you really take this words of the Second Amendment at their truest "absolute" meaning, then wouldn't "any" gun licensing law be illegal? After all, unless the license is (pardon the pun) absolutely automatic to everyone who applies, then isn't the very existence of a licensure program that "might" deny someone a license an infringement upon the absolute right to keep and bear arms without infringement?
And let's look at the word "arms". According to the Oxford English Dictionary (yeah, I know that the right-wing probably wouldn't accept definitions from a "foreign" dictionary), "arms" means:
"Defensive and offensive outfit for war, things used in fighting" or "Instruments of offence used in war; weapons".
Now remember, according to LaPierre, meanings, especially within the Bill of Rights, are absolute.
Thus, I ask, according to LaPierre's way of thinking, why can't I have a fully automatic rifle? Why can't I have a rocket propelled grenade or hand grenade? Why can't I have a Stinger anti-aircraft missile, a bazooka, a flamethrower, or an anti-personnel mine? Why can't I have chemical or biological agents or even my own tactical nuclear weapon? Why can't I own a switchblade (well, here in Indiana I might be able to soon enough...). Why can't I buy all of the ammonium nitrate I want? After all, even a giant fertilizer bomb is still a form of arms and my right to bear that particular weapon shall not be infringed. Right? And of course, I should be able to stockpile all of the sarin gas or anthrax that I might want. Right? All of those things are "arms" and, according to LaPierre's reasoning, the right to keep and bear "arms" is absolute as is the prohibition on infringing on that absolute right.
And think of some of the other "infringements" on our right to keep and bear arms that must surely be invalidated by LaPierre's absolutist reading of the Second Amendment. Why can't I keep and bear my weapon on an airplane? I mean, shouldn't I have the right to defend myself from a terrorist? And why can't my 13-year-old kids take AK-47s to school? Are they not a part of "the people" for whom the right to keep and bear arms can't be infringed? For that matter, why can't convicted felons "in jail" or the mentally ill "in a hospital" keep and bear arms? Why can't I ring my property with "punji sticks" to keep out trespassers. Why can't I have a rocket launcher on my car? It would make me feel better in a traffic jam...
Remember, according to the chief executive of the NRA, meanings within the Bill of Rights are absolute. Thus, the phrase "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" must be completely and totally absolute.
Is that the NRA's position? Is it yours?
As long as we're examining the absolute meaning of the Second Amendment, perhaps it's worth applying the same absolute meaning standard to other parts of the Bill of Rights; after all, LaPierre didn't limit his claim of absolute meaning to the Second Amendment. Rather, he called out the entire Bill of Rights.
So consider, by way of example, the First Amendment, applying "absolute" meanings to the words:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise ther; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Let's start with that first clause which is quite clear: "no law". Those five letters seem pretty absolute, pretty easy to understand. I'll skip religion for a moment and jump to free speech. "No law... abridging the freedom of speech..." OK. So out of curiosity, what is it that the NRA wants Congress to do about violent movies and violent video games. Pass a law to prohibit them? Hmm. And what about the right to assemble? Can you and I and a few dozen of our friends parade down Main Street or do we need a permit? Can we peaceably assemble at the 50 yard line of Lucas Oil Stadium or in the chambers of the House of Representatives? Can we walk into the next NRA national conference stage a protest? Why not? If the words of the Bill of Rights are absolute, then "no law" must mean "no law"!
And let's think about the free exercise of religion. What if my religion requires human sacrifice? Remember, "no law". OK, let's scale back a bit. Forget human sacrifice. What about animal sacrifice? What about smoking marijuana or peyote? What about the right not to seek medical care for my child? What about the right "to" seek an abortion if my religion tells me it's OK? And if my religion tells me that I should kill infidels or stone my child for talking back to me or to stone you if you eat pork? Remember, the words in the Bill of Rights are "absolute" in their meanings.
Luckily, most of the rest of the Bill of Rights uses words like "unreasonable" or "excessive" or "unusual" thus making those provisions much less absolute and much more in the nature of... "principles". But wait, I thought principles were a bad thing...
So isn't it possible that the words of the Bill of Rights aren't quite as absolute as LaPierre would like you to think they are? Might there not be room for compromise? Might it not be acceptable, notwithstanding words like "shall not be infringed" to recognize that the "principle" of the Second Amendment doesn't stop us from prohibiting felons or the mentally ill from owning guns? Might it not be acceptable for our society to decide that danger to our citizens posed by fully automatic weapons or large capacity magazines or armor piercing bullets allows us to restrict their use to the well-regulated militia, now in the form of either the police or the military? Might it not be acceptable to impose registration requirements or enhanced background checks in an effort to try to limit the flow of weapons to those who ought not have them or to cut down on the black market transfer of weapons?
It seems to me that the NRA's principle of helping gun manufacturers sell more guns is absolute and the principle of keeping our citizens, our families, our "children" safe, must by definition fall as a mere "feel good" principle that is trumped by the absolutism of the pro-gun lobby. Hmm. Isn't that what President Obama was talking about?

The specific most malefic positions of planets capable of causing death like suffering are as follows: the Sun in 12th, the Moon in 8th, Mars because it is the sign of Maithuna, Rahu gets exalted in this house in the natural Zodiac and Jaimini says 3rd is the house of death (Dinau Dine Punya).
Jupiter, being the Devaguru, by nature is a peace-loving planet who signify harmony, universal brotherhood (Vasudaiva Kutumbakam) and wisdom. When such a planet goes to the house of parakrama, he is rendered ineffective under the violent temper of Mars. This is why Jupiter gets debilitated where Mars gets exalted. He can't withstand the violence of Mars.
Jupiter being a karaka for dharma, becomes very uncomfortable when it goes to the house of copulation. Like Sun who is rendered ineffective in the house of pleasures of Bed, Jupiter is also rendered ineffective in the house of sex.
Jupiter is again the prana of the Life force and hence also called the Jiva, where as Mars is the Mrityu karaka. When Jupiter goes to the 3rd house, the house of death, the life force diminishes, more so under the effect of Karaka Mars.
When we look at the ayana of planets we see that the ayana of Rahu is opposite to that of Jupiter. Hence wherever Rahu is strong, Jupiter is rendered weak. In the Kalachakra we see that the Kala of the Dik goveren by Jupiter, is ruled by Jupiter and hence any Jupiterian activity is prohibited in the Rahu Kala.
VENUS IN SIXTH
Jaimini has given a dictum Shasta Shukra Marana Karaka, which says Venus in the 6th becomes Marana Karaka. Why this is so?
Sixth is the house of Service and Venus is the karaka of Pleasures, the two opposites. What shall we expect when the chief karaka for pleasure is asked to serve others! In the natural zodiac, 6th is house of debilitation and the sign Virgo symbolizes a virgin (the purest). Hence at this place Venus becomes incapable to enhance its own Karakatva.
The two karakas for the 6th, Mars (Enemies) and Saturn (Servant). In the Kalachakra this is clear that Mars obstructs the ayana of Venus. Hence none of the Venusian activity shall be performed in the Mars's Kala. Moreover Saturn signify hard work, which is not suited to pleasures and luxury seeking Venus and hence she goes to the Marana Avastha, if placed in 6th.
SATURN IN LAGNA
Saturn is the Karaka (Significator) of destruction of intelligence (Dhi) and opposed to Satya, being opposes to Jupiter and Sun respectively. Lagna stands for the intelligence and health of the native and Saturn is opposed to the karakas of the Lagna, Jupiter and Saturn. Whenever Sat goes to the first house, it can't stand the Karakas and goes into the marana Avastha.
Now in the natural zodiac too Saturn gets debilitated in the first house Aries, where the fiery Sun gets exalted. Here Sun opposes the lethargy and sluggishness of Saturn and wants it to be fast, jovial and forces it to promote the significations of Sun. Now in mythology, Saturn represent Mahakala, the son of Sun from Chaya. Because of treachery of his mother, Sun can't stand him and wherever Sun becomes the strong karaka, Saturn becomes weaker.

WICCAN BOOK OF SHADOWS DETAILS
When high-powered Manhattan lawyer Phyllis Curott began exploring witchcraft in a women's group in the 1970s, she discovered a spiritual movement that defied all stereotypes. Encountering neither Satanic rites nor eccentric spinsters, she came to know a clandestine religion of the Goddess that had been forced into hiding over the course of history. The Book of Shadows chronicles Curott's remarkable initiation into Wicca, her ascent to the position of Wiccan high priestess, and her efforts to reconcile her newfound spirituality with her struggles as a woman rising through the ranks of the corporate world. Along the way, she relates the history of witchcraft. She also shares many traditional Wiccan practices - such as casting a circle, drawing down the Goddess, and casting spells for health, prosperity, and love. She explains all this from a feminist point of view. The title The Book of Shadows refers to the name used for a book that contains magical and religious texts in the religion of Wicca.

Today is Holy Thursday, also known as "Maundy Thursday", which comes from the word 'mandatum' or 'commandment'. Taken from the Gospel of John (which is read in Mass tonight) during the service of washing of the feet.
John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."We all have a little Peter in us. We don't like being served by others. We want to be self-sufficient and able to do it ourselves. Well, in the spiritual life, it is impossible to do it ourselves. In fact, we can do nothing without the help of Christ.
So, today, of all days, we need to let Christ serve us, wash us, and love us. In order that we can do the same for others.
Lord help us love and serve one another this Holy Thursday, as you have loved and served us!

Making your own incense to burn either in a heatproof dish or on a charcoal block is easy and in my opinion it is better then some shop brought incense the reason is you can empower it with your own power.
You can mix and match your flowers and herbs for exactly the powers you need for example if your making love incense you can use lavender for gentle love, bay leaves for faithfulness and maybe a sprinkle of saffron or ginger for passion. You can supplement partly or entirely with dried herbs and spices that you have in your kitchen and buy dried lavender heads, rose petals and chamomile flowers in old fashioned grocery stores, gift shops and some herbalists.
Picking and drying your herbs1. Pick herbs the day or days after the full moon and leave them to dry, you can remove stems after drying.
2. Collect and dry pine needles, cedar bark chippings and Juniper berries
3. Dry a bunch of herbs upside down in bundles indoors or out in a sheltered but well ventilated place that is not too cold. SImply pop a hook up and then hang your bundle of herbs upside down and allow them to dry.
4. You can also use slatted wooden racks and microwaves can be used in a hurry but micro dried herbs are not so fragrant. 5. In the summer or fine weather herbs dry very quickly they should be crumbly if pressed but still fragrant.
6. Keep dried herbs in labelled glass jars ~ old jam jars cleaned and dried are perfect keep the lid on when not using.

Get ready for a unique cosmic collision! Early this coming Friday morning (Oct. 9), NASA's Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) will end its mission with a bang - literally.
Currently carrying with it the upper stage of the rocket that launched it on its way to the moon on June 18, the game plan is to send that spent rocket motor on a course to smash into the lunar surface. But just not anywhere on the lunar surface, but to a thoroughly scrutinized crater called Cabeus that lies near the moon's south pole and is enveloped in perpetual darkness. The hoped-for resultant effects will be to find hidden water ice frozen inside the crater.
And for seasoned skywatchers here on Earth, it should also produce a visible cloud of ejected material. However, only knowledgeable amateur astronomers with the right equipment will be a able to detect the event. Others can watch the event live on NASA TV.
Smackdown!
The general belief among astronomers is that over the last few billion years, the moon has been bombarded by countless numbers of comets. The water from most of these comets completely sublimated away but if any settled at the bottom of a crater near the moon's poles, these permanently shadowed regions can keep the water from disappearing, remaining as ice for a very long time.
Cabeus is a relatively flat crater about 60 miles in diameter on the moon's south pole that scientists believe may be one of those special cases that might hold water ice in its perpetually shadowed top soil. NASA initially selected a different target for LCROSS, the nearby crater of Cabeus A, but switched to the larger Cabeus because data suggested it had a higher likelihood of containing hidden water ice.
The impact is scheduled to occur this Friday, Oct. 9 at 11:30 UT. That's 7:30 a.m. EDT; 4:30 a.m. PDT. To convert Universal Time to your local time, go here.
Impact will happen less than 10 hours after the spent LCROSS Centaur rocket motor is released and its Shepherding Spacecraft maneuvers into position to trail the Centaur en route to the lunar surface. The 5,000-pound Centaur, is expected to slam into Cabeus at a sharp angle at a speed of 5,600 mph (9,010 kph).
If all goes according to schedule, the Shepherding vehicle, carrying nine science payloads, will follow the Centaur's plunge into the moon, beaming back data live to the Earth. Like a bullet hitting sand, the Centaur's explosive collision is expected to create a crater roughly 60 or 70 feet wide and perhaps as much as 16 feet deep, in the process dredging up approximately 385 tons of lunar dust and soil - enough to fill nearly 18 school buses. In addition to recording the collision, the Shepherding Satellite will fly through the regolith plume thrown up by the collision, just before it too slams into the lunar surface some four minutes later, kicking up its own smaller plume of debris.
But before it's sacrificed in the cause of science, the 1,500-pound Shepherding Spacecraft will utilize its specialized sensors and will look for water's telltale chemical signature within the larger debris plume created by the Centaur, possibly in the form of ice, hydrocarbons or hydrated materials.
How to watch
NASA wants the amateur astronomer community to join in a "citizen scientist" program. Jennifer Heldmann heads the LCROSS observing campaign. "We would like to have as many eyes and instruments watching the impact as possible because this is the way we'll get the most data and the most information as possible."
Those who live to the west of Mississippi River will have the best opportunity because the sky will still be dark. Those living east of the Mississippi will still have the moon in the sky, but either dawn twilight or - in the case of those living along the Atlantic Seaboard - sunrise will have occurred, making for a much brighter sky background. A dark backdrop will be an important prerequisite, since it's estimated that when the debris plume forms on it will be no brighter than a sixth-magnitude star (the threshold of naked-eye visibility), and quite likely even fainter.
If you want to attempt to see the impact yourself, here are some important points to be aware of:
First, you're going to need a moderately large telescope, somewhere on the order of at least 10 to 12 inches of aperture. Smaller telescopes will probably not be able to do the job and you will definitely not see anything using binoculars. You'll likely need to use magnifications in the 250 to 500-power range to have a legitimate chance of getting a glimpse of the dim impact plume.
Keep in mind that high power dilutes the brightness of an image, as well as aggravates any unsteadiness of detail. As a general rule of thumb that the maximum amount of magnification for any telescope is 50-power per inch of aperture.
"But wait a minute," you may protest, "my telescope comes with a special Barlow lens, that the manufacturer promises will double or even triple the magnification of my eyepiece."
True enough. In fact, that aforementioned 500-power is likely achieved by pushing the scope's highest power eyepiece with that very same Barlow lens, which ultimately will result in a dim, impossibly fuzzy image. If you're a beginner, you need to understand that that using a Barlow lens is similar to enlarging a photograph. The negative - like a telescope's image - contains only so much detail, which can be blown up only so far before all you can see is fuzz! So, if you have a 3-inch department store telescope - even if it is blessed with perfect optics - the claim of 500-power is more than "three" times the limit of the most practical magnification that it can provide.
The impact will take place at the lunar south pole, or on the lower limb of the moon along the dark portion immediately adjacent to the terminator (the line that separates the illuminated day side and the dark night side of the Moon). Try to keep the very bright sunlit portion of the moon out of the field of view as much as possible.
The plume is expected to be in the shape of a "V" but it will be exceedingly small in size relative to the moon itself. According to NASA's Brian H. Day, the dusty material is only expected to rise about 6 miles (10 km) above the lunar surface. From Earth, that would be equal to about one-quarter of 1 percent of the moon's apparent size or about 5.2 arc seconds.
To try and get an idea of just how large this is, point your telescope toward Jupiter which conveniently shines in the southern part of our current evening sky. Jupiter's disk currently measures 45-arc seconds in diameter; so the dust plume from LCROSS would appear only about 1/9 as large as that!
And the plume - if and when it's visible - will not last very long. The best guesstimates are that it will last no more than 2 minutes.
You can get more detailed viewing tips from NASA here.
Observatories expected to participate in the study include the newly refurbished Hubble Space Telescope, Hawaii's Keck and Gemini telescopes, the Magdelena Ridge and Apache Ridge observatories in New Mexico, the MMT Observatory in Arizona and the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) now circling the moon.
Lastly, you can watch the event live here on NASA TV, beginning at 6:30 a.m. EDT/3:30 a.m. PDT.

The Laws of Magick are not laws as in rules or a code of ethics or behavior. They are the basic precepts, or ideas on which the foundation of magickal working is based. I found them interesting and informative. The found at The Mystica was quite long, so I divided it up and the individual posts are listed below along with a short introduction by the author.
"Real magic-the magic which has been practiced and believed in for thousands of years - is based upon laws, if not fully believed by the practitioners, at least adhered to. These laws have been recognized as the governing structure which makes the magic at least seem to work, gaining for the practitioners the desired results, and making people believe in it."
"One of the pioneers to achieve a classification of laws involved in magic is Sir James George Frazer in his "The Golden Bough: A Study in Magic and Religion." Many others have discussed such a classification including Isaac Bonewits, to whom this writer is indebted for his brief classification of the magical laws, and Richard Cavendish."
The following laws place one in a proper attitude to perform magic:
* The Two Main Laws of Magick
* The Law of Knowledge
*
* The Law of Names
* The Law of Words of Power
* The Law of Association
* The Law of Identification
* The Law of Opposites
* The Law of Balance
* The Law of the Finite and the Infinite

MOON IN TAURUS - The Moon in Taurus grounds us; it slows us down
and wakes our sensual nature and stubbornness, helps us dig deeper
roots. This transit is a time to garden, plant, cultivate seeds, relationships,
and ideas, make love, nurture, take a stand and embody. The Moon in
Taurus asks us to discover what nurtures us and how to grow deeper
roots. We can almost feel the mud oozing between our toes, awakening
our senses and sensuality and growing our stubbornness. Plant anything
you want to grow strong and fertile. This lunar transit concerns money,
work, property, the body, home and family, sensuality, building cautiously
and slowly, being conscientious, growth, sensitivity, planting and emotional
patterns based on security. The energy flow is even and a time for us to
experience the sensual.
The forceful forward movement of Aries becomes solid, calm, and patient
during Taurus. There is a desire to protect material goods and a strong need
for financial security. It is a poor time for change or getting a loan as people
are very cautious and reserved about money especially during the first part
of the transit.
The middle of Taurus is more calm. It is a good time to continue or to
finish projects or to stay at home with family. Taurus gives attention to order
and detail. Emotionally there is stubbornness, but great sensitivity to others.
This sensual sign is a good time to appreciate the wonders of the beautiful
earth. During a Moon in Taurus transit you might want to work in the garden.
Taurus is the best time to work magick for love, real estate, material
acquisitions and money. Healing rituals for ailments of the throat, neck, and
ears are also done during this period of time. Those born under a Taurus Moon
root deeply and change slowly; they collect, touch, support and see the sacred
in the world of matter. Steady, they can loan their strengths to others, but may
need to learn the beauty in change.
THOR'S DAY - Jupiter Day - the Day of Vision, Spiritual Insight and Expansion...
Thursdays have the planetary association of Jupiter, and this day of the week is
associated with prosperity, abundance, leadership and good health. What a good
day to have the Moon in the sign of Taurus. Just by believing in yourself and
working toward creating abundance, health and prosperity you have already
begun to transform your outlook on life. Think positively. Use your imagination,
and check out Thor's Day correspondence list - Candles of purple, royal blue
and green; Incenses and essential oils in the scents of clove, honeysuckle. nutmeg
and sage; stones of turquoise, sapphire and amethyst. Lay out the tarot cards of
Ten of Pentacles, Nine of Pentacles and the Ace Pentacles -take careful look
at their images - how can you incorporate those symbols into spells of your own
design.. Brew up a pot of mint tea to help your increase your cash flow. Try
adding a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon to an unscented candle to encourage some
fast cash. Bake up a loaf wheat bread and celebrate abundance and be thankful
for all that you have. Use your imagination and see what others bewitching things
you can conjure up for prosperity magick all by yourself.
